Title: Browny and Subiaco

From the H-Sun:

Hickey said that while Brown continued to struggle with soreness in his leg after games, the club hoped he would play against West Coast. Coach Terry Wallace had warned his brilliant forward, recovering from a serious break to his leg, would have to monitor his training and might be rested at times.

After feeling the "throb" during the second half of Friday night's game, Brown admits Wallace could be right. At least he has an eight-day break before Saturday night's match.

I would give Browny a rest this week. Spending 3 hours in a plane and back while in between running around on the hard Subiaco oval surface isn't going to make a difference to our year. I can't see Staff playing either if he has calf problems.

Sheesh Subi is another "knee" ground at this time of year because of the hardness of the ground. I'll be just glad if we just get through the game without anymore serious injuries  :help.

Nathan Brown likely starter

RICHMOND is confident star forward Nathan Brown will play against West Coast on Saturday night.

Brown, recovering from a horrific broken right leg, pulled up sore after the opening round.

He had treatment on his lower right leg during Friday's match against St Kilda, in which he played 95 minutes of 114 minutes of game time.

Brown had much less impact (six kicks and four handballs and scored only two points) than in the opening round.

But football manager Paul Armstrong said yesterday Brown's performance against St Kilda had more to do with playing as a permanent forward, as opposed to a loose man across half-back against the Bulldogs.

Armstrong said Brown had come through the Saints encounter in much better shape.

"He's come through much better than last week and is not as sore," Armstrong said. "He was running on the treadmill this morning and he's confident he'll be right this week.

"We've got an extra day because we don't play until the Saturday next week."

Armstrong said there was no thought of Brown being rested this week because of the travel time involved flying to Perth.

"If he's right to play, he'll play," he said.

If he was gunna miss 1 game in the first 6 or 7 rounds this is the one that I would pick.

How is it that WCE v Rich is on FOX and carlscum game on free to air. That's stuffed. I am stuck at work Sat night, where do I catch this game.

Anyone know of any pubs around southbank that have fox footy or what radio it will be on if at all. :banghead

As much as people used to poo can Holland, he was playing just as good at CHB in his second year there when he done his knee in Perth.

It really put a shot to his career and i think that the long flight plus the hard ground over there is something that Browny should avoid.

I would much rather see him fly up here to Brisbane  :thumbsup

I'll be at the game this week, and even I think it would be better for Brownie to have a weeks rest.

Lets not forget that Browny will be itching to get a kick and snag a goal or two.  It is very important in his "mental approach" to get that one under his belt.

If he is fit, I would take him along, and play him off the bench if needs be.

He plays much better on confidence.  Lets give him every chance to get it back (if he is playing).

Much better to play on a harder ground and keeping his feet, getting confidence, than the soft stuff later in the year, where he slips around, doing nothing for his confidence.

He doesnt need to prove anything to us, maybe just needs to prove it to himself, that he can play well this year.
