Mick Warner on Talking Footy last night said the AFL will announce the finalised fixture for Round 23 next week and they want our game against Brisbane to be the last of the round to build up suspense for the conclusion of the H/A season.
That would mean a late Sunday arvo game.

bloody hell, another freakin Sunday game

supporters won’t turn up

If we have 4th, and a home final against Geelong sewn up and a win would mean an interstate trip, then I couldn't see us being to fussed about winning.

I don’t mind it.
By that time we’ll know exactly where we’ll finish (give or take %) if we win or lose.

True that, but it's the best result for the club. We've got 2 Sunday games prior to the Bris game then a 12 day break after Round 23 if we get the Friday night final.
West Coast play us on the Sunday R22, 6 day break for a Sat r.23 game, then a probable 14 day break possibly 15 for the final.
Our spacing is better. I make this point because you generally need everything to go your way to win a flag including small wins like this.

Tickets for the game will be available from Ticketek here.

Currently fourth and third respectively, the Tigers' clash with the Lions could potentially decide whether one – or both – qualify for the double chance via a top-four finish.

All the old Royboys coming out of the woodwork again after 15 years hibernation.... :shh

BRISBANE has been so bad against Richmond over the past decade that not even Lincoln McCarthy could believe the horror record when informed on Monday.
The Lions have lost an incredible 12 straight matches against the Tigers since their last victory in round seven, 2009.
"They've got 12 on us?" McCarthy queried, when asked by reporters at a South Bank recovery session.
"So, we haven't beaten them for the last 12 games? I didn't know that.
McCarthy said the prospect of playing in front of a big MCG crowd – bigger than many of the young Lions would have seen – at a venue they traditionally struggled at, would not be an issue.
"Grounds don't really faze us, it's just another game of footy," he said.
"We're going to try and put it up to Richmond and treat it like any other week.
"We've only played one game there (MCG) this year, that alone is an exciting factor for us and having numbers there is all the more reasons for us to show up and bring our best game."

They're gonna get fisted by the Tiges I reckon. Pretenders ....

They haven't had to endure the heartache or humiliation that our players had to but I understand what you're saying. For me that was the driving force behind the us against everyone mentality in 2017
-
They have far more support from the media & neutrals than we ever had...everyone was dreading us winning the flag....Brisbane have the "if my team doesn't win it hope they do" vote... :shh
stuff 'em - their 3 flags are still far too recent for my liking they should still have to wait another decade at least..... :shh :shh

Match preview: Richmond v Brisbane
AFL.com.au
Sarah Black
Aug 20, 2019
Where and when: MCG, Sunday August 25, 3.20pm AEST
What it means for Richmond: It's now or never for the Tigers in their quest for a top-four spot. Win and they get the second chance, lose and they'll be hoping for Essendon to overcome Collingwood to ensure Richmond's double chance.
What it means for Brisbane: Incredibly, the Lions are one game clear in first, with the minor premiership on the line. A disaster loss and other results could see Brisbane slide to fourth.
The stat: Richmond has won 12 games straight against Brisbane, dating back to round 13, 2010. The last time these two sides met, the Lions didn't kick a goal until late in the third quarter.
The match-up: Harris Andrews vs Tom Lynch
Andrews (33rd in the AFL Player Ratings) traditionally took Lynch (272nd) when the pair met in QClashes, and looks set to meet the Tiger forward – who's third in the Coleman Medal race – once again.
It's a big week for: Dustin Martin
The Brownlow Medal-winning Dusty of 2017 is back at his scintillating best, coming off a 35-disposal game where his influence was obvious. With the Tigers pushing for a top-four spot, they'll need Martin to back up again.
Big call: Jack Riewoldt will be the key for the Tigers once again, kicking the winning goal for the second week running.
Prediction: Tigers by five points

This Sunday, the Richmond Football Club will pay tribute to its loyal Tiger Army, dedicating Round 23 to the 103,358 members who have supported the Tigers in 2019.
Richmond is also offering all members one complimentary general admission ticket, so you can bring a friend to experience the last home and away match of the season. For more information or to redeem your complimentary ticket, please email membership@richmondfc.com.au.
The Tigers will be vying to surpass their record crowd at the MCG against an interstate team, which currently stands at 58,721 from Round 13, 2017 against Sydney.
A sizeable crowd would also see Richmond keep its spot atop of the AFL average home crowd attendance rankings.
For the Lions, they’ll be looking to break their record home and away crowd of 61,868, which was recorded when they played Collingwood in Round 19, 2003.

Long range forecast for Sundsy is saying rain :clapping

Rain would be an advantage to us obviously, but I feel it kept the Eagles in the game last weekend.
We had them on toast at half time, and when the weather came it evened things up for them.

They remind me of us in 2017, but with even less experience.
Theyve been playing too well and are due for a loss... but look out next year they will be scary I reckon
Playing well and have momentum
But three things
- look at their draw and the amount of easy games they have had. Will not get that again next year. They have had 2 one point wins at the Gabba. Things have worked in their favour
- very few injuries with only three listed on their injury list and none of them are stars
- Look at Melbourne last year everyone thought they would be scary in 2019.
Brisbane are just about to get a reality check
-
The MCG website has bumped up its expected crowd prediction to just under 70k.

Burning questions Round 23
Foxsports
22 August 2019
RICHMOND v BRISBANE LIONS (Rory Hilton Cup)
Sunday August 25, 3.20pm at MCG
How to watch on Fox Footy: Channel 503 from 3pm.
Richmond’s burning question: Can Dylan Grimes do the job on Charlie Cameron?
The Brisbane gun broke the shackles of Jed Bews comfortably in Round 22, booting five goals to help the Lions see off the Cats in a thriller. Shutting down Cameron around goal will be important for Richmond’s hopes of bringing Brisbane back down to earth. Grimes is clearly the Tigers’ best all-round defender right now and taking the job on Cameron looms — assuming he’s fit to do so. Bachar Houli and Jayden Short both play more attacking roles, so Grimes shapes as the likely choice to mind Cameron — unless Nick Vlastuin is called upon to play that role. If Grimes is, as expected, cleared to play, this dual could be a crucial one. The last thing you want is Cameron getting a run-on.
Brisbane’s burning question: Can the Lions step up to the plate — again?
The Lions have welcomed every challenge they’ve faced so far this year- at home or away. They’ve won in Adelaide, Tasmania and at Giants Stadium, to name a few, while the Gabba has once again become a fortress. But facing Richmond at the MCG in front of a hostile crowd poses a different challenge altogether. The Lions have played at the home of football just once this year, when they copped a 47-point thumping at the hands of Essendon. That’s not ideal. The Tigers are up and about and play the MCG better than anyone. If Brisbane wants to be right in the thick of things at the pointy end of the finals, this is the perfect test. A win would be huge, but a loss could be a huge learning experience for Chris Fagan’s team. Either way, this is huge.
Fox Footy expert tippers verdict: Richmond 4 — Brisbane Lions 3

Containing Neale's influence in the midfield and Cameron will go a long way to winning. I'm guessing Graham will tag Neale as we can't allow him to get easy clearances, while one of Grimes, Floss or Broad will get Cameron.
:gotigers
-
That's too easy, Tiges. Can't allow them to be 10m off :banghead.
0 - 6

Dusty straight out of the middle drills it on the run :gotigers
1.0-6 a piece.
-
THat's soft against Dusty. LOL I didn't know the shoulder was the head ::).
-
These are the ones George needs to kick.
Sprays it OOTF :facepalm.

Nothing like the umps sweating on a chance to penalise Dusty for a high fend off but that just wasn’t there!!!!!

Castagna is a very ordinary footballer.

Jack got a bad bounce but toes it to Balta who gets it to Rioli (no left foot) who bananas it on the right for a goal :gotigers

Prestia long to George who misses on the run from 40. George should have two :P.

So you don't have to tackle to get HTB? Just wrap your arms which get broken? :huh
-
Prestia is having a game and half so far.
-
Seems like we are going to have to beat 25 today. They are red hot against us!
-
Lynch blocked and no free ::).
There's two teams out there umps :banghead.
Graham's off-break snap misses.
14 - 7

Why george? Kick it to lynch. Castagna a liability today

Floss another smart defensive mark. Gets it to Dusty lace out to Jack. Goal :gotigers

Hooray, so we're actually out there umps ::). Finally get a free.
Free to Jack in the square. 4 goals to Jack :gotigers.
Rich 6.2-38
Bris 2.1-13
-
Quarter time
Richmond 6.2-38
Brisbane 2.1-13
Goals: Riewoldt 4, Rioli, Martin.
-
If castagna had just kicked better wed be 11 points better off
-
We're slicing through them on transition. 6.2 from only 11 inside 50s. It could have been 8 straight if George hadn't missed to gettable shots. Prestia and Dusty dominant and feeding Jack lace out passes. Soldo doing well in the ruck. Floss and the rest of the defence containing Cameron and their tall forwards.
-
Cotchin out there?
-
We cant afford stupid mistakes today.
-
Jack misses from the pocket.
39 - 19
-
Cotchin out there?
Yep. Was scragged (arm held) at the centre bounce but no free.

George snap but Lynch drops it in the square running into the post. Point.

George tap is off and Lynch can't stop it running through for a point.
41 - 19
Missing chances this quarter.
-
So much for the noise of affirmation at our home games ::).
-
We are making a lot of mistakes
-
Prestia on the run misses.
42 - 19
-
We are trying to find ways to butcher easy shots at goal.
-
We are making a lot of mistakes
It the misses in front of the sticks that are hurting. We should be 6-7 goals up.
-
Poor turnover in defence gifts them a goal to make us pay for our misses :banghead
42 - 26
-
Putrid execution all quarter!
-
Geez we are doing dumb things going inside F50 :banghead.
-
Cotch free and his inside 50 kick is good to George.
Close eyes ...
Around the body and finally puts one through the middle  :gotigers
Rich 7.6-48
Bris 4.2-26
-
Dusty misses George but he kicks it sideways and finds Soldo. Ends up with Caddy on 50 who chips to Lambert. Great set shot kick and it's a goal :gotigers.
Rich 8.6-54
Bris 4.2-26
-
The only way they are getting it forward is off our turnovers.
54 - 27
-
Rayner should have been penalised for planking in Broads back!
-
LOL. That was punched straight out of bounds uncontested. As deliberate as it could be ::)
-
Umps trying to get the Lions back in it.
-
This umpiring is one-sided crap.
-
Anyone that thinks these umpires don’t cheat or conspire to effect the outcome of a game only need to watch the last 20 minutes... disgraceful cheats!
-
What the last free kick for? Lynch?
-
Half-time
Richmond 6.2 8.6-54
Brisbane/Umps 2.1 4.4-28
Goals: Riewoldt 4, Rioli, Martin, Lambert, Castagna

What the last free kick for? Lynch?
Brisbane defender ran back into Lynch and the ump paid it a free against Lynch for a block :facepalm ::).

What the last free kick for? Lynch?
Brisbane defender ran back into Lynch and the ump paid it a free against Lynch for a block :facepalm ::).
Cheers
-
What the last free kick for? Lynch?
He is wearing a yellow and black jumper.
-
Frees: 6 - 12
More of the ball and almost double the Lions' score yet they have double the frees ::).
-
We need to up the ante in the forward 50 and start applying the heat.
Currently no tackles in F50 :banghead
We can also apply more heat in the middle and we will easily looking at a home final.
Maybe the umps will try and even up the ledger too might snag us a few more goals as well.
These babies don’t like pressure and we should start to flex the muscles this half.
66 points here we come. :shh :gotigers
-
Things to improve:
* Getting pumped in the clearances.
* No tackles inside our F50. That's unusual for us.

Across the past month, the Lions have averaged 49 points from their clearances, best in the competition over this time. The Tigers have restricted Brisbane to just 14 first-half points from clearances today, contributing to Richmond entering the main break with a lead of 26.
Of the six free kicks that Richmond has conceded (2nd qtr), the most common penalty has been for holding the ball on three occasions.

Dimma will hate us giving up a goal from a defensive stoppage.

That;s pathetic Tiges. No pressure. All our players stuck on one side of the ground allowed the easy switch.

We're still getting smashed in the clearances but we stabilised the game in the last 10 min of that quarter and got on top on transition to kick the last two goals.
-
First thing is settle down were rushing not going for easy options and to cute at times were at our best playing simple footy. Were is the forward pressure poor need rocket from Dimma.Switch on this last qtr to many didn't want to do the hard yards.Clearances still a issue and that's why Ross needs to play.

-
The main thing is we did what we needed to do and sewed up a top 4 spot. Thank Dusty and Floss.
Lots of things to work on over the next fortnight before we play them again up there:
- Belted in the clearances. Neale had 50+ possies :help.
- Sloppy forward of centre. Butchered so many good entries.
- Forward pressure was ordinary as demonstrated by our few tackles.
- Missed too many gettable set shots that kept them in the game in the first half.
-
Dominated the game besides the 3 qtr they camed at us was going to happen, but need to be switched on cannot afford that letting teams back in we will regret it one day to cute and panicky also .I would be filty with our forwards offered no pressure today up there.Clearances need to work on is a Ross a option.
Restricting the lions to only 55 points outstanding effort not many did that this season.
-
If we had beaten them today by 63 points, we would have finished second and got a home final. Incentive was there, reckon we could have done it too.
-
Neal had no impact tho I would say even with that many possies.
-
Neale was good today for mine, but yeah he’s one of those players you have to divide his possessions by 1.5 to get a better understanding of his impact. Complete opposite for Dusty.
-
Dusty was brutal. Neale very little impact.
Dusty was brushing blokes aside like farts in the wind. Clutch goals that hurt big time.
Neale...few clearances and some cheap handballs. Meh...
-
Take the win.
Brisbane are the real deal.
-
If we play the same way in 2 weeks with
same level of mistakes they will get us. We
Made way too many errors today.

I am content with the game, Brisbane are the real deal this year and we backed up after a corker against West coke which was probably game of the year. West coke got flogged this week coz they didn't recover very well.

Makes me wonder how we won.
Hurting them on the turnover/intercept, maybe a bit of off-ball effort with 1%'s elsewise we got toweled up on paper..
Amazing that we were largely in control all night bar half the 3rd quarter, given those numbers...

That first 10/12 minutes of the second quarter. We let them kick one then we had a sustained period of the ball in our forward 50 but could only get 4 behinds 3 of them rushed. Could have opened up a big gap on them and taken their enthusiasm away.
-
Missed a lot of easy one. Could have been 40-50 points without too much effort I think...
-
Casstagna's such a momentum killer... :shh
-
As ive said before Castagna is the luckiest premiership player since Darryl Freame in 1980.
-
Vlastuin and Grimes were awesome as always.
Dusty brutal again.
Prestia was very good too.
I though George was excellent in the first half when the game was up for grabs. Even Rioli seemed to play with a bit more urgency. Although Rioli’s goal kicking is as bad as Georgie’s.
Lambert was good and I actually think it was Soldo’s best game.
I can’t see Nank playing now as he has just missed too many games.
Good game to watch, we had some quiet stages but overall we had their measure the entire game IMO.
FINALS TIME!

Dusty was more efficient and effective on Sunday than Neale.

Not really surprising when 32 of Neale's disposals were handballs
-
I think Cotchin made a comment about that in his 2016 season. He was reflective that his touches weren’t going forward or attacking enough and his team mates were happy for him to just drive the thing forward as opposed to dishing out handballs and short kicks to get the team more involved. I think it was the Sydney game from memory where each Cotchin possessions averaged +3m gained?

That was part of my explanation for their effort on Saturday night.
Also Sam Mitchell probably had a bit of influence in team tactics this week.

I've watched replay's of the GF more times that I've had hot dinners.
Georgie boy was thoroughly deserving of his medal - no more luck than any other mid tier player that gets one.
If he could finish he would be a top 5 small forward in the league. As it stands its a glaring deficiency.
-
It was Richmond's 13th straight win against Brisbane, but one Zorko said gave his team great belief.

Yep, but even with 19 kicks he's still averaging 7.3m per disposal. That's total crap.
Dusty had 10 kicks, 11 handballs, and was averaging 25+ metres each one.
Caddy and a few others did some great handballing on the wing during the game, some easily 20-25+ metres.
Few sources reckon it's done Neale's brownlow chances a good favour but I reckon it should be ignored. Cheap, meaningless ball.

He’s a good player so you don’t just want him having ball in hand letting him do whatever he please. But it’s not like we’re giving Simon black 51 touches and he like Rockliff before him is a good accumulator so I think keeping him between 25-30 and having those not too forward of centre will do us ok.
-
Imagine what damage Dusty would do with 51 touches 😂 😂
-
There are footballers that you come to the footy to watch and Neale isn’t one of those
-
If Dusty had 51 touches we'd be looking at probably 6 goals and 1400m gained haha
-
I remember this game dusty played I think it was in 2015 against north. He racked up 20 touches and 4 goals in a half. I think he got a hard tag afterwards but if we try and extrapolate from that Dusty’s delivery from his 51 touches will have us winning by 10 goals and he’d probably kick 10 himself
