Would you bring in balta for chol this week? Not because chol is underperforming but rather to give balta a taste of senior football again considering he hasn’t played any for a while. Then you make a choice between the 2 for week 1 of the finals.

I wouldn’t play Balta this week because their second ruck is a giant. Chol would be more competitive IMHO.

I wonder if  things are complicated with our VFL side having the bye?

Barrett's comment from his 'Sliding Doors' column:

IF ... I was in charge of team selection for the match against Brisbane ...

THEN ... I wouldn't be risking Cotch, who has already missed 11 matches this year with hamstring problems, before the first week of finals.

It's Tom Browne so it's probably wrong  ;D.

He's covered every option in his tweet below: won't play; won't know until Sunday; should be right according to Dimma. In other words, Browne doesn't have a clue ::).

TomBrowne7
Mail this afternoon Grimes won’t play Sunday.
Don’t expect we’ll know for sure until before the game.
Would be a significant out in the context of the top four.
Dimma indicated this morning he should be right to play subject to training

Key Tiger leaves training early, remains in doubt for Lions blockbuster

CRUCIAL Richmond defender Dylan Grimes left training early on Saturday as doubt swirls over his availability for Sunday afternoon's blockbuster with ladder leader Brisbane as he battles an untimely right ankle issue.

The star stopper looked to be moving well but left the light session after 15 minutes, alongside captain Trent Cotchin (who hasn't played since round 19 and has been plagued by ongoing hamstring issues this season) and Dion Prestia.

Grimes spoke at length with fitness boss Peter Burge before leaving the track.

Quote
15mins on the track for Dylan Grimes, Trent Cotchin and Dion Prestia in today’s 40min Captain’s run. Grimes had a decent chat with medical staff re ankle@before departing. Noah Balta trained all morning with defenders @AFLcomau
    — Mitch Cleary (@cleary_mitch) August 24, 2019

The Tigers withdrew midfielder Jack Ross from their emergencies list on Saturday, replacing him with defender Ryan Garthwaite.

That came after Ross trained on Saturday, despite the last session before a game usually being limited to those in the squad for the upcoming match.

Athletic tall Noah Balta worked alongside the defenders at Punt Road Oval.

Grimes was injured during the third term of last week's thrilling win over reigning premier West Coast but returned to the field for the final quarter.

Richmond would secure a spot in the top four with victory over the Lions at the MCG, leapfrogging Collingwood and potentially the Eagles as well, if they lose to Hawthorn.

The Tigers enter the clash with eight straight wins, a streak bettered by only Brisbane, which has won 10 on the trot.

Grimes, 28, has been integral to a defence that has been miserly since the bye, not having conceded more than 82 points since then, despite the absence of injured five-time All Australian Alex Rance.

He is ranked No.10 in the competition for total one percenters this season and No.13 for total intercepts.

Ch 7 news tonight didn't have any further info except to show a glimpse of Grimes jogging behind the others at training and saying he is in doubt to play.

Gameplan

Big first quarter - up by 6 goals.

Steady second quarter where we add on a couple more - up by 8 goals

Third - Establish dominance in the third by kicking 7 goals to 1 - up by 14 goals.

Fourth - Put the cue back in the rack allowing them some easy ones so they don’t feel completely hopeless and keeps the game exciting.
 11 goal win.

We finish second.  :clapping :gotigers

Castagna takes a mark 35 metres out almost directly in front and the final siren sounds just as he’s contemplating kicking a drop punt or kicking it across his body.

The goal makes us 65 points ahead and a home final at the G.
A point gives sends us to the Gabba for a final against the Lions.

 :help

I wouldn’t be confident, then again I wouldn’t be overly confident if Jack or Lynch was kicking it.

I’m not sure who I’d like in this situation. Maybe Graham.
