Dustin Martin is expected to poll extremely well in the back half of the season, but an ill-advised elbow in round three resulted in a one-match suspension, ruling him out of contention. Other than Martin, the Tigers will share the votes around, with an inconsistent injury-hit line-up meaning players starred at different times.

Best chance: Dion Prestia
With superstar Martin ineligible, Prestia is Richmond's best hope. Saying that, the midfielder is expected to poll only eight votes, spread fairly evenly throughout his 22-game season. A three-vote game could come in round 21 against Carlton. Bachar Houli is also a chance to top the Tiger eligible-player count, tipped to poll eight.

Three-vote certainty: Bachar Houli (v Essendon, round 10)
Houli's class shone through in atrocious conditions in the Dreamtime match. Finished with 37 disposals (including 28 kicks) and 10 rebound 50s, and he stood firm against both the rain and waves of Bomber attacks.

One-vote wonder: Dylan Grimes
Probably deserving of more than one, but defenders traditionally don't poll well. Grimes had an outstanding season, and should be in line for his first Brownlow vote for his R4 performance against Port where he had 17 disposals, took seven marks (including a game-high five contested), and had six rebound 50s.

2018 leading vote winner: Dustin Martin (19 votes)

Previous winners: Stan Judkins (1930), Bill Morris (1948), Roy Wright (1952, 1954), Ian Stewart (1971), Trent Cotchin (2012), Dustin Martin (2017)

Ineligible players: Dylan Grimes, Dustin Martin, Ivan Soldo

Dusty is difficult for the umps to miss out on the ground. I could see him come home like a train in the final 10 rounds and get the most votes on the night. That act of frustration off the ball back in round 3 could cost him another Brownlow.

Would say Cripps is favourite at the moment. In front with 14 votes already despite Carlton completely sucking under Bolton in the first half of the season.

Worpel had 33 disposals and 9 clearances.

No doubt he is a champion and he deserves multiple Brownlows over his footy career. He's been a stuff.

I just rate impact over the entire game and result. Take our round 23 game. Neale gets 51 disposals so the umps give him the 3 votes but Dusty with far less possies had more impact on the game and result.

This is laughable. How did Dusty not get 1 vote? He was clearly the BoG. I’d say umps/afl were worried he might have had the most votes. Which would engage a lot of conversation over his report and why Ablett didn’t get any weeks for worse indiscretions.

Our lack of votes just emphasises how brilliant our system is. Everyone does their role. Team first mentality.

Let the minnows have the scraps. Let's load up on premiership cups.

Personally I think Grundy would have been a more worthy winner. Their hot and cold midfield had basically been reliant on him not just covering ground and winning the taps but he follows up with tackles and wins contested footy. Which would make it super hilarious if he leaves to Adelaide

Dusty now has the most Brownlow votes by a Tiger.

Dusty       179
KB           160
Richo       140
St Francis 139
Cotch       133

He's 5th highest out of the current players behind Ablett (most ever with 261), Dangerfield, Selwood & Pendlebury

And, he’s in 16th place overall for the most Brownlow votes in AFL/VFL history.
