Title: Paul Broderick on SEN
Post by: one-eyed on October 16, 2019, 12:44:23 PM
Brodders spoke about how he ended up crossing to the Tiges from Fitzroy (along with Mick Gale and Matt Dundas)

He also spoke about 1995. How we had built a core group (Richo, Knighter, Campbell, etc) with young blokes coming through and how he felt that year was the closest time to the feeling of what it must be like to play in a premiership team in terms of how much they played for each other as team. Northey going at the end of '95 meant we'll never know if we would have built upon 1995 and become a genuine premiership challenger under Swoop or if we just peaked that year and still would have fallen away as we ultimately did under Walls. Brodders himself had his best year in 1996 under Walls winning our B&F.

One of the blokes I actually remember from my childhood, along with Richo, Cambo, Knights, Gales, Kellaways, Chaffey, Marenda, Daffey etc.

Brodders was a dead set fave of mine. Real hard man!

An absolute champion. His vision and handballing were sublime. My favourite player during that period.
