Last time (2018), the actual premiership flag was presented to us a week before round 1.

Based on that, the Club should receive the 2019 premiership flag this time next week.

Tigers delay unfurling of premiership flag

RICHMOND will delay the unfurling of the 2019 premiership flag until it can play in front of its fans at the MCG.

Earlier on Friday, the AFL announced that round one of the 2020 season would go ahead as scheduled, but without spectators in stadiums, as part of the contingency plans required to deal with the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.

The Tigers will take on Carlton in their traditional season-opener at the MCG on Thursday, March 19.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said the club was behind the AFL's decision.

"Richmond supports the decision around mass gatherings by the Government and the AFL, to protect the health and safety of the community," he said.

"We understand the serious nature of COVID-19, and we will continue to comply with the latest advice from the government and health authorities to protect our own players and staff, as well as our Club members and supporters, and the broader community.

"We know that our fans will be disappointed to be unable to attend our upcoming AFL and AFLW games - we love to play in front of the Tiger Army, and we know they’re eager to attend our games.

"While access to the club and our games is not possible right now, the club will continue to engage its members and supporters during this time, to keep them informed and connected to the club.

"The club will delay the unfurling of the 2019 premiership flag until it can share the moment with its loyal and passionate Tiger Army at the MCG."

We'd want to get off to good start then...will look a bit silly if we have to wait until say, round 6 and we're 2-4 or worse... :shh
