RICHMOND midfielder Lauren Tesoriero will not play this week against St Kilda as she is in isolation due to coronavirus.
Tesoriero is not displaying any symptoms and the measure is purely precautionary, as her housemate recently returned from Japan.
"Club medical staff – in conjunction with the AFL – have taken an ultra-cautious approach given she shares a house with someone who recently returned from overseas," a Richmond club statement said.
"Lauren's housemate returned from Japan on Tuesday night. Despite having no contact with her housemate that evening, Lauren was sent home from the club on Wednesday.
"Neither Lauren or her housemate are displaying any symptoms but in the current environment the club and the AFL felt a period of isolation was the best course of action."

No loss. Too old, too slow, too fat and she doesn’t get the ball enough. It’s a wonder why the club felt the need to pick her up seeing Collingwood delisted her.
-
Technically, Lauren Tesoriero drafted herself with our last pick (pick 96). She's a full-time AFLW recruiter at the Club and was playing assistant coach for the VFLW side in 2019. Kate Sheahan backed the decision as she believed Tesoriero brought "leadership, experience and the kind of frame that could help a young Richmond AFLW side when the club entered the competition in 2020". Tesoriero is also playing after returning from an ACL without surgery. So she can't change directions. No surprise she is also slow. Really just a late mature pick used as cannonfodder to try and protect the younger cubs for a year.

And that is supposed to make the decision justified?
-
And that is supposed to make the decision justified?
Rightly or wrongly that was the reason. Based on form and results this year it doesn't appear justified but perhaps that perception may change if we have like in the men's team her now younger teammates thanking her for their early development in years to come. Recruiting Cuz was ultimately a fail at the time but Dusty and Cotch have said since they learnt a lot as cubs about what it takes to be a pro footballer from him.

If there's one thing they can work on today it's not conceding an early goal within the first couple of minutes and aim to score the first goal.
-
Richmond's contested marking has been an early highlight #AFLWSaintsTigers
Richmond's defenders seem to be very worried about Greiser, already giving up a holding free, handing the Saints their first goal. :P

Caitlin Greiser marks and goals again for the Saints.
Poor defending to a high long kick to a pack. Not one Tiger defender able to spoil.

Campbell's been good today, but that was a poor choice to play on under pressure.

Tayla Stahl got smashed in a tackle but still managed to get up and put pressure on the kicker. Love her, another bright spot from this season.

Richmond seem to just expect a handful of players to create opportunities that the rest can glide off.
They should be attempting to draw their opponents out of their F50 when entering to create some space, or moving to create options. They just assume stuff is going to lead and get the contested mark v 3 defenders.
https://twitter.com/Siren_Sport/
-
Really interesting contrast in list builds in the #AFLWSaintsTigers game. Tiges seemed to focus on a couple of top end players (Brennan, Conti, stuff), where as the Saints seem to have a more even list.

Saints too strong for Tigers
By Sarah Black
AFL Media
14 March 2020 8pm
Richmond has fallen to St Kilda by 39 points at RSEA Park on Saturday.
The Saints were too strong all over the park, coping well in a howling wind at RSEA Park in the 6.6. (42) to 0.3 (3) loss.
Play was so heavily weighted to one area of the ground, the inside-50 count in both the first and second quarters read 11-1 to the club headquarters end.
St Kilda was very efficient in front of goal, with Saint Caitlin Greiser booting the first three goals of the match – including one from 20 metres out that sailed above the goalposts and nearly out of the ground – and taking three marks.
The Saints took a 13-point lead into the first break which was reduced to 11 points at half-time. But they used the wind advantage well in the third, adding 15 points.
Classy Richmond midfielder Monique Conti ran her heart out, finishing with a game-high 22 disposals to go with four tackles and four marks.
Rebounding defender Akec Makur Chuot was also a standout for the Tigers, racking up 13 touches.

AFLW: New G-Train leads Saints as Tigers remain winless
Jon Pierik
The Age
15 March 2020
St Kilda 6.6 (42) defeated Richmond 0.3 (3).
Cult hero Caitlin Greiser made her presence felt with a dominant display up forward by leading St Kilda to their second AFLW win of the season, as the Saints kept Richmond to the lowest score in the competition's short history.
Nicknamed the new "G-Train", after former saints forward Fraser Gehrig, Greiser was superb inside attacking 50 in helping her side to a 39-point win over a goal-less Richmond at Moorabbin on Saturday.
The 178cm key forward booted three goals but the fleet of small forwards around her should have done better when she brought the ball to ground.
The Tigers remain winless at the foot of Conference A and will hope skipper Katie Brennan returns soon. She has missed two matches because of concussion.
A chilly breeze meant there was one scoring end and the Saints, now with two wins in their debut season, made the most of this in the opening and third terms. The Tigers had only one inside 50 into the breeze in two quarters.
The Saints generated run through the likes of Claudia Whitfort, who was dominant at the stoppages, Georgia Patrikios and Rosie Dillon, while co-captain Kate Shierlaw delivered the game-breaking goal in the third term. The Tigers' pressure fell away, with too much left to Monique Conti. Grace Campbell battled hard but missed a late set shot for goal.
Point scoring
It's been a tough initiation for the Tigers but Conti has shown why she will be a dominant player for many years ahead. The dual sports star - she also plays with the Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL - has been averaging 19 touches per game. Her ball use is also excellent, and there was a slick two-handed pick up on the wing in the second term against the Saints that reinforced why she is one of the league's smooth movers.
Conti had 12 disposals to half-time - seven more than her next-best teammate. Another dual star, Gabrielle Seymour, the former Australian junior volleyballer, has quickly made a name for herself at half-back.
Kicking on
Greiser made her presence felt in the first term by booting the Saints' opening two goals. The first, from about 15 metres, came from a free kick but the second, from a strong mark in front of two defenders, showed why the Saints have been raving about her. She duly converted from 30m out from goal. Greiser's talent has been obvious - she was named in the VFLW team of the year - and she could yet make the AFLW squad should she finish the season strongly.
Lock out
The impact of the coronavirus was on show when only players, required staff and media were allowed into the venue. The Saints had enjoyed strong support at home in their inaugural season.
"It is a bit sad that family and friends can't be here," Saints coach Peta Searle said.
"It's pretty weird not to have even family," Saint Cath Phillips added.
AFLW chief Nicole Livingstone was one of few in the crowd.
"It is eerie, we can hear the commentators on the side of the oval. It is unusual," she said on Fox Footy.
Livingstone said the AFL was planning for even a doomsday scenario should the season have to be halted.
In a sign of the times, the two captains did not shake hands at the toss of the coin, while players gave "elbow taps" to their opponents after the final siren.
Best: St Kilda: Greiser, Whitfort, Patrikios, Vesely. Richmond: Conti, Makur Chuot, Campbell

LMAO....glad I don't follow this crap... :shh
-
Hard to score let alone win when nine Tigers had two kicks or less. That's one kick per half a match at best :help.
Conti, Makur Chout & Monahan together had more kicks (34) than 14 of their other teammates combined.
-
What next for Richmond?
The Tigers will be hoping to get skipper Katie Brennan back, with the midfielder-forward having missed two weeks with concussion. In a worrying sign, Kate Dempsey (ill), Lauren Tesoriero (ill) and Laura McClelland (suspended) are the only other best-21 players to be sidelined. The Tigers had very little run on the outside and were unable to handball themselves clear, instead getting bogged down in some strong St Kilda congestion. It doesn’t get any easier from here, with Brisbane and Adelaide waiting. Tesoriero remains in quarantine – but isn't ill – after her housemate returned from Japan.

-
Star midfielder Monique Conti left the ground in tears.
"You do get quite emotional in this because it is challenging, week to week," Tigers coach Tom Hunter said.
"Six losses in a row, you never see yourself that way, but you want to be strong for the girls.
"There's times when we let ourselves be vulnerable as a group internally and we played a song before the game: 'It'll Be Alright In The End'.
"But we've just got to go through this little patch at the moment."

hunter and Sheahan are responsible imo and instead of reading crap like that and playing songs they should just pee off and getout of our club before our club brand is damaged further
-
this is a shameful episode in or clubs history. Hunter and Sheahan should resign or be sacked immediately. This list is embarrassing to our club and the brand of our club which is being devastated by the AFLW program.
So much for the so called war room. Those in charge have absolutely botched this start up to make us effectively the most non competitive team in the competition.
Too many girls that have no footy nous nor know how to get the footy.
Too many fat unfit slow unskilled veterans that may have been passable when the league started but are no where near the level required considering the growth in the league.
Conti is a champ no wonder she was crying after the games She’s the type of player we should be looking for natural talent that can read the play.
Monaghan has a absolute gun.
Campbell tries her guts out and is a tackling machine.
Brennan is talented but she’s no midfielder.
I’d persist with Jacques and Molan, McClelland, Chuot and maybe Seymour
The rest of them are either too old or have no idea.
The powers that be (Sheahan, self picked - Tesoriero) have basically showed the league how not to build a list and why you shouldn’t just pick your friends
-
I would keep wakefield as well from the list.
-
Our team needs to be relegated until we are competitive
