AFL Round 4
St Kilda vs RICHMOND
Saturday, 27th June @ Marvel Stadium.
Start time: 4.35pm
-
Likely to be 2021 not 2020 this game. AFL is kidding itself if it thinks the season can continue now. All Essendon players and staff have been exposed and have to go into 2 weeks quarantine immediately. They travelled to Sydney last week and who knows if some were positive then.
WA and SA are going to double down on border restrictions now.
The season is effectively done.
Anyone who pretends otherwise are kidding themselves

Tigers retain the flag

He tested negative last week. Only tested positive this week. So Sydney last week is a non issue. No one from Sydney has tested positive and if he was positive last week it would shown in testing by now
But need to correct you on a couple of other points.
Under Dept Health protocols, only close contacts will need to go into iso for 14 days, not everyone. How many will that be? Hard to say but it won't be the entire list. AFL rules restrict the amount of time entire lists can train together.
Everyone will be re-tested and depending on the results of those deemed non close contacts will determine when they can start again. Site is being cleaned which is mandatory.
Anyone forced into iso will be tested 7 days after McKenna tested positive = next Friday and remain in iso for the full 14 days
Delay? Possibly. Done for the year, nope

Respect your opinion Knighter but can't / don't agree
Things have changed; more is known now around how to handle and control ... so that doesn't need to happen now.
-
Season is done WP. Gill said himself when the season was first suspended it will only take 1 positive test to make it untenable to go on
No he didn’t
-
How do u think the game v West Coast will go ahead?
The borders are already closed and the latest spike will see SA, WA and Qld double down on that.
Only option is for all teams to hub in the one State and that ain’t happening
-
This year is just stuffed
I’m not really caring about footy much tbh
-
Play the kids.
-
To be honest the state of Victoria really underestimated this virus opening up so quickly and were warned were not over it yet Andrews should have told Gill under no circumstances , sport should be the last agenda in this country then peoples health and well being.

They could all just live on Hamilton island. Just kick Essendrug out of the comp for this season.
Is there an oval there?

Don’t give a stuff about footy this year
If you’ve got Netflix check out Da 5 bloods
Afternoon well spent
-
Have not seen it yet but enjoy most of everything Spike Lee has done.
Fargo is a brilliant series too I’m not sure which platform it’s on.
I heard series four is coming out soon, I will be watching that for sure.
-
Don’t give a stuff about footy this year
Already looking forward to the trade period and seeing what we'll do in the off-season... more interested in the scratch matches and how the kids are going tbh... :shh
-
Season will get harder to complete every day from here. I understand AFL is desperate to save clubs finances by playing but it will so be apparent to everyone that it can’t continue.
Stop next week award no Premiership and draft picks in current ladder order. Bad luck Fat Ed
-
yeah stuff the pies, Call the season off. We have nothing to prove and they will think its the best thing every winning a flag with multiple asterix attached to it
-
WA and Qld both going to implement compulsory 14 day quarantine for Victorians. Stick a stuff in this season as it’s done

the afl have lost the plot. They should had everyone in those states to begin and end with.
Victoria the laughing stock of the country. Disgrace.
-
McGowan was interviewed on radio this morning and confirmed it. Qld premier is quoted saying the same in the paper today.
-
Although unlikely according to Caro, our game could be moved to Saturday night if need be by the AFL.
"The contingency plan was to show Richmond v St Kilda has a Saturday night game on free-to-air TV, but I don't believe that needs to happen now."

2020 AFL season: Round 4 preview

St Kilda versus Richmond
Although no fans will be permitted to attend this match (a restriction which appears likely to extend well into July due to a recent spike in new coronavirus cases in Victoria), St Kilda and Richmond will press ahead with their annual Maddie’s Match this Saturday night.
The match was originally scheduled for Round 3, though after the original fixture past Round 1 was eventually binned, it was announced by the St Kilda Football Club that the new match-up will retain the moniker of Maddie’s Match.
Both the Saints and Tigers will want to lift for this match, with both sides having only won one game each this season.
After thrashing the Western Bulldogs by 39 points in Round 2, the Saints were sent crashing back down to earth against Collingwood last Saturday night, managing only five goals in a 44-point defeat.
Meantime, the Tigers’ struggles since the season resumption continued, being restricted to five goals for the second week in a row and, without Dustin Martin in tow, losing to Hawthorn by 32 points at the MCG last Thursday night.
It put an end to a 14-match undefeated streak which stretched over twelve months, and was also their first defeat at the MCG since their loss to the Geelong Cats in Round 12 last year.
Marlion Pickett’s struggles since his breakthrough grand final showing last year continued, being largely ineffective against the Hawks, while Tom Lynch’s embarrassing missed shot at goal from five metres out in the final quarter summed up the Tigers’ dismal night.
It’s only early days, but Richmond fans need not forget that their side were 1-2 and in 14th place after Round 3 last year before they went on to claim a second flag in three years.
Thus, if there’s ever a good time for the reigning premiers to bounce back, it’s this Saturday night.
Prediction: Richmond by 14 points.

Who will win this weekend? Round 4 tips and predictions
Alex Zaia
SEN
24 June 2020
St Kilda versus Richmond
i]Saturday, 4:35pm, Marvel Stadium[/i]
This weekend represents a chance for both St Kilda and Richmond to record a second win in this condensed 2020 season.
Both clubs head into the fifth edition of 'Maddie’s Match' on the back of Round 3 defeats and will be keen to swiftly return to the winners list.
The Tigers have kicked 10 goals in two weeks and were held goalless in consecutive first quarters for the first time since 1961. Dustin Martin looks to have recovered from a rib injury in a major selection boost for the reigning premiers.
The Saints were brought back down to earth by Collingwood last weekend but will get another chance to pit themselves against another premiership fancy.
Skipper Jarryn Geary missed the match against the Magpies because of a minor hamstring strain but is in the mix to face the Tigers.
Richmond has won the last two meetings by an average margin of 43 points.
Tip: Richmond by 15 points.

Can the Tigers rediscover their mojo?
Richmond have been kept to just five goals each of the past two games and seem a distance off their all-conquering best. Most pundits trust that the Tigers can recapture somewhere near their best form, but an unexpected loss to the Saints would have that trust waning considerably.

-
Richmond by a goal. 6 points margin. We need to win today.
-
Paddy Ryder out for the Saints. So they are now going with just one ruckman as well.
No late changes for us.

-
45 point win
-
Still a danger game as the Saints play better at Docklands. You can't give them open space to run freely under little pressure on the faster track.
For us it's all about the first quarter and kicking some early goals. We need to bring the intensity and pressure from the start, win the contested footy and connect between the mids and forwards. You don't win too many games giving up 5 goal starts like we have the past two weeks.
-
Sheds goal on the run in the first 14 secs :gotigers.
Rich 1.0-6
StK 0.0-0
-
Holy Moley!! :o A fast start! :o
-
Stack fumble gifts Butler a goal.
6 - 6
-
Kicks: 2 - 9
In50s: 1 - 5
6 - 7
No point having a quick start in the first 14 secs if we go to sleep again.
-
Poor kicks and dropped marks so far :banghead.
-
In the space of 3 minutes Butler out marks Houli
And thanks to a terrible dropped Mark by Stack gets a goal.
Sums up our season thus far
The Higgis
Ns kick was just all panic
-
Easy goal to them :banghead.
6 - 13
-
Not liking this already.
-
same as last week thus far.
signs arent great
-
They are feeding off our mistakes and we are making plenty of them :banghead.
Another goal to them.
6 - 19
Here we go again with the pathetic start :banghead.
-
Houli is horribly out of form
People shouldn't get seduced by the number of kicks he is getting because the quality is woeful
-
We are in trouble again
-
Higgins is so not up to it. Playing like an even worse Castagna. Rushes his disposal and stuffs it all up
-
Aside from the first one which was due to a Saints error we've lost every centre clearance ::). We can only get our hands on the ball in defence when we do.
More soft mistakes. 3 mistakles in a row gifts the Saints another shot on goal :banghead.
6 - 25
Might as well say game over given how we're playing.
-
Could nearly call it already. Teams start fast and then lock down.
-
Another scrubber off the boot but we get the free for holding the ball (Bolton & George gangtackle). George with the shot from 35. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 2.0-12
StK 4.1-25
-
Team has won what its won in 17 and 19. They are happy with that. This season is done and dusted. Our players have no interest.
-
Can we actually hit a target?! :banghead
Finally we get a chain going. Stack to Cotch who marks just inside 50. Off to Lynch free on the run and he nails it :gotigers.
Rich 3.0-18
StK 4.1-25
-
thank god for Nank and Higgins
-
They are looking more dangerous at the stoppages.
Ballwatching in defence gifts them a goal :banghead.
18 - 31
-
They are looking more dangerous at the stoppages.
Ballwatching in defence gifts them a goal :banghead.
18 - 31
And poor by Cotchin, along the ground not up in the air
-
Great mark by Lynch 25m out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.0-24
StK 5.1-31
-
Don't want to go early but we may actually kick more than 5 goals this week :snidegrin
-
Lucky there they missed. Broad put Stack under pressure and we coughed it up :banghead.
24 - 32
-
Floss to Sheds to Houli to Stack back to Houli who finds Higgo on the wing. To Bolton at HF and it finally gets to Jack.
That movement there was more like us. Kick after the siren. Jack misses.
1/4 time
Richmond 4.1-25
St Kilda 5.2-32
Goals: Lynch 2, Castagna, Edwards.
-
Last 5 minutes we were back to being Richmond
But no confident at all that it will last
-
Good to see some fight and a bit of mongrel. Get angry boys
-
Houli needs a kick up the arse, or he is finished as a footballer. At his age and what he has achieved, you cant blame him.
Last week pulling out of a contest and that goal in the square where he didn't go hard at all.
Worrying signs and the end is closing in on the bloke.
-
I'll take 7 points down as we deserve to be further behind. Still too much error-ridden crap footy which means we're leaking soft goals like a sieve at one end and having to rely on manufactured goals at the other (thank gawd we have Lynch) :banghead.
-

Out marked by Butler of all people, almost seems too relaxed.

Worrying signs Last week pulling out of 2 marking contests
This week to be out marked by Butler is damning
-
Clearances: 7 - 15
Need to lift at the stoppages.
-
Nank gets 50. Finds Caddy at HF. Chips to Jack who marks well under pressure in the pocket 35 out. Tough shot. Good Goal! :gotigers
Rich 5.1-31
StK 5.2-32
-
Too easy
Way too easy
-
Another goal to them starting from a stoppage :banghead. Real problem so far.
31 - 38
-
Getting bloody fristrated seeing blokes refusong to in hard for the bsll or pulling out of contests
Jack Ross won't like re-watching that
-
That was so soft
:banghead
-
Clever by Jack. Sheds tries to hit up Lynch but he's spoiled. Throw-in F50. Saints clear.
They run it down for another soft goal from a stoppage clearance :banghead.
31 - 44
-
That was so soft
:banghead
We're getting absolutely smashed in the clearances. We're not going to win until we fix that.
-
Ball-up F50. Higgo to prestia but sprays it.
Astbury off. Injured?
-
Houli at HF. Goes towards Dusty. Dodges and weaves to Bolton who can't take it. Saints clear it.
And they run it down for another sucker goal :banghead.
31 - 50
They are now just sitting back and waiting for the counterattack :banghead.
-
Shame on you Shai Bolton- being selfish, panic turn over
Then zero pressure in the F50 and we gift them another soft goal :banghead :banghead
-
STICK A stuffing TACKLE FOR stuffing stuff SAKE!!!! >:( >:( >:(
-
Prestia finally gets us a centre clearance and Lynch marks on the lead 50 out. Misses.
32 - 50
-
We get the forward turnover. Cotch to Lambert to Bolton off the outside boot who goals :gotigers
Understatement to say we needed that.
Rich 6.2-38
StK 8.2-50
-
WOW WEE
We've kicked a 6th goal :rollin
-
We are soft as butter. The lack of effort and accountability is hard to swallow.
-
You know we are bad when Butler looks like a dangerous forward.
-
Nank to Prestia out of the centre. No mark to Jack. Saints clear.
We get it back via Nank. Goes back inside 50. Sheds misses the target. Saints clear again.
Short from defence to Houli. Down the line but it's all Saints.
Short again in defence to Ross. Ordinary kick to Dusty at HB but it's a free. Houli high to HF. Higgo did well. 1-2 with cotch but Higgo misses.
39 - 50
-
Short’s ball use is good.
Stuff the haters.
-
These misses by Higgins are the biggest issue with his game
-
Ross another poor kick. Gifts the Saints another forward entry. Caddy only saved the goal.
-
Another turn over this time Baker :banghead
-
Can't wait for the pass Stack. Another turnover :banghead.
Schoolboy mistakes are costing us dearly :banghead.
-
Half-time
Richmond 4.1 6.3-39
St Kilda 5.2 8.2-50
Goals: Lynch 2, Riewoldt, Castagna, Edwards, Bolton.
-
:banghead
Gee these commentators
From Eddie "with Ross who's had a ripper quarter". Doing what? Turning it over?
Dunstall going on and on about the number of possessions, even when the possessions are going straight to the opposition
-
Let's hope Prestia winning those last two centre clearances is a sign we've finally fixed things at the stoppages as we've been killed up until then which is given them more inside 50s and forcing us to start attacks from defence.
-
Does anyone know what injury Astbury has done as apparently he's off for the rest of the match?
-
Does anyone know what injury Astbury has done as apparently he's off for the rest of the match?
He came back on.
Tweaked his knee.
-
Does anyone know what injury Astbury has done as apparently he's off for the rest of the match?
Knee but he came back on in the last 4 minutes in that are
Actually took a very strong pack in the last 40 seconds of the qtr
-
Houli is horrible.
We can usually cover his lack of defensive accountability but when we are down, he looks like a very average AFL footballer.
If he doesn’t improve in the second half, he needs to be dropped.
I can see the end coming pretty quickly for him to be honest.
And he isn’t the Lone Ranger being down in form.
-
Does anyone know what injury Astbury has done as apparently he's off for the rest of the match?
He came back on.
Tweaked his knee.
Cheers Willy and WP :cheers.
-
Caddy a worry for me too, looks slow, rushed every possession and just doesn't seem fit to me. Lambert the same, normally a marathon man but his coverage is down. Maybe premiership hangover, not sure but something just not right.
-
Very lucky that wasn't 50 by the captsin
-
We miss at one end then they get another goal from the stoppage (free) at the other :banghead ::).
40 - 56
-

Shorter games not making it a game of endurance for Lambert.
-
Good pass. Lynch marks inside 50. Sprays it OOTF :P.
Can't afford to miss our shots :scream.
-
We are still in the rooms
-
Pathetic defence there
We are currently stuffed (again)
-
Kicking ourselves out of it.
Undisciplined by Floss. Not happy at all...
-
embarrassing
-
Got the turnover via good pressure but Floss gave away a free off the ball. Undisciplined especially from a senior leader.
They of course ain't missing today. Another gift! :banghead
40 - 62
-
We are kidding ourselves.
We are far away from a premiership team at the moment.
Not doing the things that made us the best.
Other teams are playing our game better than us.
-
Allowing uncontested marks inside their F50 :facepalm.
40 - 68
Game over!
-
Backline looks soft with the high ball coming in
-
2016 rerun.
-
No pressure, no organisation....this is 2016 shyte.... :thumbsdown
-
What was Astbury doing? Seriously!
Handed Marsh an uncontested mark :banghead
This is terrible
-
Our midfield is just not working hard enough.
Lazy or unfit in comparison to other teams.
-
This is soft! Getting beaten easily again in contested footy and clearances. Too many Tigers don't want to do the hard fundamental stuff.
-
30 seconds of Tiger footy and guess what?
We get a goal
-
Baker fists it inside 50. Lynch in two minds dobs it inside the square. Stack moved forward kicks it :gotigers.
Rich 7.4-46
StK 11.2-68
Again we can only goal from manufactured scrappy attempts.
-
This is soft! Getting beaten easily again in contested footy and clearances. Too many Tigers don't want to do the hard fundamental stuff.
And the few that are; are doing it badly
-
Sorry but that was shocking by Cotchin
-
Prestia is nowhere near last years form opposition are putting more work into him.
Dusty is not as productive.
Our youngsters are not doing enough.
-
Saints error. Jack to Higgo for the goal :gotigers.
Rich 8.4-52
StK 11.2-68
-
That theyve kicked 11.2 shows how bad we are playing
-
2 contests in a row and Ross fails to go in for the hard ball
Then a stupid down field free
-
Cotch hard wins it but Prestia is caught. Turnover.
They make mistakes and they still have time and numbers to go back again and get it :banghead.
Now another undisciplined downfield free gifts them another shot on goal :banghead. And of course they are kicking them from everywhere today.
52 - 74
-
Not switched on skills have been so poor last 3 games,no accountability lazy and to many blugging.
-
2 contests in a row and Ross fails to go in for the hard ball
Then a stupid down field free
Lucky to still be in the side. He hasn't been any good since the injury mid-last year.
-
Cotch hits up Jack in the pocket. Of course we miss.
53 - 74
-
Nick reckons we've looked better
Ummm perhaps for 10 mins
But overall
No Nick we haven't.
-
That's the advantage of Nank
Has an idea in the forward line
-
Cotch to prestia to Houli to Floss 55 out. Can't find anyone. Ball-up 35 out. They win the clearance :banghead.
Astbury gets 50. 60m out. To the hotspot, good kick and Nank takes the mark on the lead. 20 secs to go. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 9.5-59
StK 12.2-74
-
Nick reckons we've looked better
Ummm perhaps for 10 mins
But overall
No Nick we haven't.
Exactly. Only thing better has been we've kicked more goals. However, we've conceded even more goals to the opposition in doing so.
-
We need a miracle because of how bad we are playing
-
I know we are still the contest but no confidence we can drag it back
-
3/4 time
Richmond 4.1 6.3 9.5-59
St Kilda 5.2 8.2 12.2-74
Goals: Lynch 2, Riewoldt, Castagna, Edwards, Bolton, Stack, Higgins, Nankervis.
-
We need the 4 points but i cant see it tonight. Weve been shocking again.
-
Cotch to prestia to Houli to Floss 55 out. Can't find anyone. Ball-up 35 out. They win the clearance :banghead.
Astbury gets 50. 60m out. To the hotspot, good kick and Nank takes the mark on the lead. 20 secs to go. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 9.5-59
StK 12.2-74
One of the softest 50s I’ve ever seen.
-
Utter garbage out there were talking senior players. The amount of points were conceding tells me were not working hard enough.
-
Reiwoldt has truly been rubbish. Needs to lift.
-
Weve copped 12.2 that shows we not applying
Pressure as we should. Just dumb lazy football.
-
We can still win this as we've had as many shots are they have and it's a relatively high scoring game. In fact we've had more scoring shots since quarter time. But we won't with this poor stoppage work all day and the soft undisciplined play and goals we are conceding. That's why they aren't missing. Whereas we are having to scrap and create goals from unconventional ways.
-
Reiwoldt has truly been rubbish. Needs to lift.
Houli and a few others on decent money. Id drop them all.
-
Weve copped 12.2 that shows we not applying
Pressure as we should. Just dumb lazy football.
Exactly.
-
Again another freaking clearance to them after we had first hands :banghead.
Point to them.
59 - 75
-
Prestia slides it to Jack. But he miss the bouncing shot.
60 - 75
-
Saints OOTF. Floss back inside 50. Loose ball. Free to Saints against Kmac for the high fend off :banghead.
Another free to them.
Houli handballs to a voice that was a Saint and then gives away the free.
Geez show some focus and discipline :banghead.
-
Prestia 23 possessions
Most have been meaningless
-
Dusty to Cotch to Prestia to Houli at HB. High ball. jack wins it forward but Lynch is caught HTB.
Prestia awkward kick straight to a Saint.
Saints get a kind bounce. Stoppage in their forward line. And of course the kick another goal from a stoppage :banghead :banghead :banghead.
Geez we;ve been dumb today :banghead :banghead :banghead
60 - 81
-
Tough call needs to be made on Houli this week
-
Where's my stuff?
-
Sydney Stack an embarrassment tonight.
-
Houli should retire. He should do it with grace and dignity. Hes been a fine player for us and will always be remembered as a 2 time premiership player. It will give us more salary cap room too.
-
We are done and we should be embarassed
-
Jack Ross. No good.
-
Ross on the wing but Baker turns it over.
Ross again to a contest that;s full of Saints. Another turnover.
St Kilda must think it's their birthday today with all the gifts we've given them today.
And another gift 50 and goal via a trip. Floss again undisciplined.
60 - 87
Game over if it wasn't already.
-
Sydney Stack an embarrassment tonight.
He should be dropped. Since hes gone out with monique hes been terrible.
-
Sydney Stack an embarrassment tonight.
yes, but there are plenty.
This is 2016, all over
-
So many players with zero second efforts
Thats the thing that angers me the most
-
Saints have been two down for a quarter and they are still running over us. Embarrassing! :banghead.
Problem is if we were to drop all players playing poorly we'd lucky if there's a couple remaining :help.
-
Tell me what is Ross doing in our backline ??? .Stupid from our coaches.
-
Saints have been two down for a quarter and they are still running over us. Embarrassing! :banghead.
Problem is if we were to drop all players playing poorly we'd lucky if there's a couple remaining :help.
Exactly it tells you they want it more and were coasting around lazy.
-
So many players with zero second efforts
Thats the thing that angers me the most
Yep. Seems too many have indulged on premiership pudding. Not winning and able to climb the mountain again. We are currently a bottom 6 side.
-
Shai goal.
Rich 10.6-66
StK 14.3-87

Going to be a lot of stoppage work at training this week. Disgraceful today.
-
The other problem is the scratch matches aren't real VFL matches
What I mean is they are modified. One week it's 16 a side last week (not today) it was 14 a side so the fringe players aren't getting proper game style games
-
I love what the Tigers have achieved over the last 3 years, Success whilst creating a very relaxed and easy atmosphere. All great whilst things are going your way. But, things have gone a complete 180 and things have gotten way too loose. No discipline, selfish, lazy and lots of players with too many distractions away from Footy.
-
I just saw Lambert
Seriously MIA today
-
Another 50m gift ::).
We've made it so easy for the Saints today :facepalm.
66 - 93

Houli should retire. He should do it with grace and dignity. Hes been a fine player for us and will always be remembered as a 2 time premiership player. It will give us more salary cap room too.
^^^
This is horrible what we are seeing from him these last 3 weeks
Sad but time catches up with all players, it appears to have caught up with Bachar
-
They haven’t looked on to me all year and have just got worse with each game, somethings wrong

True WP but it's the same for other teams who are still turning up to play. St Kilda has 6 new players out there in their best 18 this year and they are still jelling.
-
Point to us. Another poor lazy set shot.
67 - 93
-
Just so disappointed
-
St Kilda must be an absolute rabble if we can kick more than 5 goals against them.
-
We've conceded 15 goals in a 20% shortened game. Sums up that structurally and organisation wise we've been terrible.
The worst thing is we were beaten comprehensively and not just by a more hungry and desperate side. No excuses today.
-
Nank the only one who wanted it.
-
We're cooked in 2020. All we can hope for is season gets cancelled
-
Final score
Richmond 4.1 6.3 9.5 10.7-67
St Kilda 5.2 8.2 12.2 15.3-93
Goals: Lynch 2, Bolton 2, Riewoldt, Castagna, Edwards, Nankervis, Higgins, Stack.
-
Nank the only one who wanted it.
And Higgins although his footskills are hit and miss.
-
Embarrassing effort tonight.
-
Plough gave Prestia a vote :huh. He classed Edwards as our second best.
-
We don't have enough one touch players, tackling is weak as pee, getting smashed in the contest...Ross & Edwards need to switch positions, Martin's checked out, Houli's cooked, Astbury's on the way, Shortsteps is a downhill skier, Broad's tough as nails but ultimately a weak link in the backline ...Stack still thinks he's on Instagram....Cotchin, Higgins, Vlastuin & Nankervis the only blokes busting a gut, Prestia winning it enough but having his usual early season pee poor disposal...Baker tries but gets exposed when the system breaks down and the oppo plays kick-mark...Bolton the only player who looks like breaking the game open ..Lambert's been as useless as anyone but seems to be escaping criticism...we look slow & unfit, being outworked & out spread & out ran...Hardwick needs adjust the gameplan - giving sides way too much space :shh
...and LMAO at everyone who got excited over Hackintosh coming back... :shh :shh
-
Plough gave Prestia a vote :huh. He classed Edwards as our second best.
Then it is based on the no,bar of possessions not the quality
IMHO
Nank was our best tonight by a long way
-
Something is wrong at Tigerland😪
-
Could the rumours about Martin sooking it up over the pay cuts be true? :shh

Kick accuracy proved the difference at Marvel Stadium — of the Saints’ 18 scoring shots, only three were behinds. Both sides managed 38 inside 50s, but St Kilda were more effective in converting the chances.
“The spirit seems to have drained from Richmond,” Tim Lane said on 3AW.
“This is a mystery of this season which has been full of them.”

Theyve all checked out.
Tough decisions need to be made.
Im not talking about scapegoating guys
But a couple of players need to think about what their life is after football
-
The Sunday Footy show mentioned we gave up 9 goals from turnovers :help.
They also said Dimma is ticked off about us so far this year giving up the most goals from free kicks.
-
How do u think the game v West Coast will go ahead?
The borders are already closed and the latest spike will see SA, WA and Qld double down on that.
Only option is for all teams to hub in the one State and that ain’t happening
I should work for the AFL!
I wouldn't be surprised if SA and WA follow Qld lead. This will mean all Victorian teams need to go to Interstate hubs and the competition is shut down for 14 days whilst they quarantine.
Gill the Dill squeezing every last $ out of a season that's on life support

The operation to stop Dusty was a success
With eight Brownlow votes in his past four matches against the Saints, it was clear that a lot of time needed to be put in to stopping Dustin Martin.
What Richmond expected was a hard tag from Jack Steele, with the Tigers’ midfielders able to block and manoeuvre a previously malleable St Kilda midfield to give space to their star.
In the minds of the Tigers, when they rested him forward, he would be too strong for any of Carlisle, Wilkie or Howard.
When Seb Ross was tasked with the role, it left Steele open to tackle hard and impose a physical preference against the rest of the Tigers’ midfield that usually assists Martin so well.
Ross did a fine job restricting Martin when he was in the midfield.
This was a great spot for St Kilda’s two-time best and fairest winner, as his role as the number one midfielder isn’t particularly damaging given his average ball use.
Ultimately, the Tigers had to adjust on the run, and it made for high disposals for their midfielders, without the damage caused of yesteryear.
Richmond focused on clearance work, while St Kilda went defensive at the contest, and decided to focus on width.
They were able to cover the loss of the incredible Zak Jones by adjusting and spreading further to the wings, without their explosive midfielder.
When the Tigers threw Martin forward, he was ineffective and found very little space.
St Kilda might have given a couple of players specific roles to shut down the dual Brownlow Medallist, but the team defence ultimately shut down both Martin and the entire Richmond team.

Maybe it was just because the team aren’t fairdinkum yet.
Unless they wake up from their COVID slumber it will be much the same all year.
I’m expecting a turn around at some stage, hopefully it’s this week.
