The reigning premiers are inarguably worse off heading into Round 6 because of a series of injury blows suffered on Sunday, as well as the very reasonable decisions of Shane Edwards and Bachar Houli to stay home for family reasons.
The Tigers should still be too good for the Swans this coming week, even without Trent Cotchin, Dion Prestia, Toby Nankervis and maybe Tom Lynch as well - partially because Sydney is copping it even worse with injuries and basically has nobody tall left.

SYDNEY will unleash two debutants against Richmond on Sunday, with first-round draftee Dylan Stephens and inside midfielder Chad Warner to be unleashed at the Gabba.
Key defender Lewis Melican will miss with a groin injury, with Kaiden Brand the likely replacement.

Brisbane's CEO Greg Swann just said on SEN that the 5000 tickets for our game sold out in 3 minutes. Given it's our designated 'home' game the bulk of those will be Qld-based Tiger members.

Why is it only 5,000? The Federal Government guidance is 25% capacity (10,000) and the QLD Government recently announced they would be moving up to 50% capacity (20,000)

I'm assuming that number is for G.A. The Gabba's full 42k capacity includes Gabba members & corporates.
Also the venue still has to abide by the 1.5m social distancing rules including for food outlets and toilets. You can't have 10k all heading to get food or go to the loo at once at quarter breaks.

Barrett is back on board us this week ...
IF ... you were unsure of the origins of that guttural noise you heard last Sunday ...
THEN ... it was this sleeping giant, just starting to stir after a little snooze. A massive amount of star talent will be absent for a while, but the renowned Tigers' system and attitude has returned.

No surprise normally let alone with all our outs that the Swans are focusing heavily on stopping Dusty.
--------------------------------------
Key match-up
It’s hard to look past the name Dustin Martin on the Tigers team sheet. The Brownlow medallist will be without midfield mates Cotchin and Prestia, but his influence could well decide the game.
Last time the teams met, Martin was unstoppable gathering 25 disposals and booting three goals.
He is dangerous in the middle of the ground, but even more so when he drifts forward. That should see his matchup change during the game, from perhaps George Hewitt in the midfield, to the likes of Dane Rampe or Callum Mills when forward. Whoever it is that gets the job on Martin will have their work cut out for them.
Last time they met
It was all Richmond last time the teams met in Round 5, 2019 at Marvel Stadium.
After a tight opening term, the Tigers blew the game open with a six goal to two second quarter to set up a 33-point half time margin.
The Swans were left with too much to do late and despite a strong final quarter, went down by 22 points. Dustin Martin was dominant in a best on ground effort.

Tigers back in form for Swans AFL clash
Shayne Hope
7news
12 July 2020
If not their full squad, Richmond at least have their mojo back - and that's a dangerous sign for their 17 AFL rivals.
In particular Sydney, who face the reigning premiers on Sunday on neutral turf at the Gabba.
The Tigers made light work of Melbourne last week in a 27-point win which was achieved through their trademark hunger and pressure, which had otherwise been lacking since last month's season restart.
"We thought it looked more Richmond-like, the way we played," coach Damien Hardwick said.
"We were disappointed with the Hawthorn game in particular and the St Kilda (match) at various stages also.
"We've got some work to do in a couple of areas but I thought, for the vast majority, we looked good.
"We looked great in long patches, which is important moving forward."
Injuries and family concerns have forced Richmond into five changes for the first match of their coronavirus-enforced road trip.
Trent Cotchin (hamstring), Toby Nankervis and Dion Prestia (both syndesmosis) are all sidelined, while Shane Edwards and Bachar Houli have opted against travelling to the Queensland hub.
Key defender David Astbury (knee) was already out of action.
But the Tigers are no strangers to personnel issues, having overcome similar hurdles last season on their path to a second flag in three years.
"We've got strong belief in that system when we adhere to it and when we play our way," Hardwick said.
"There's some quality players going out, but it's going to provide an enormous opportunity of growth for those players coming in.
"There's some parallels (to last year's challenges), there's no doubt about that, but this is a different system once again, and a challenge we're looking forward to."
Richmond forward Tom Lynch is remarkably in line to play just six days after having surgery on a fractured hand.
Ivan Soldo is back to lead the ruck against a Sydney side who are quickly running out of tall options this season and relying on Hayden McLean and Aliir Aliir to compete at the stoppages.
The makeshift pair were dominated in the air last week by West Coast's Nic Naitanui.
The Swans are looking for their first win since round three and need greater attacking potency, having averaged just 41 points in defeats over the past fortnight to the Western Bulldogs and Eagles.

Can't take swans lightly need a whole team 4qtr effort and our senior players to lead the way.

Can't take swans lightly need a whole team 4qtr effort and our senior players to lead the way.
100% agree, georgies. The Swans have some very good youngsters in Blakey, Florent, Hayward, etc who on their day can hurt you if you allow their confidence to grow early in a game while Papley has kicked more goals than any Tiger has this season. Heeney is another we need to keep quiet.
It's a massive game for us. Win and we're in the top 8; lose and we're down in the bottom 6. We just need to win as many games as we can while we're missing so many stars like we did last year. Today is no different to last week: play to our system and work as a team, win the contested footy, be clean with the footy, tackle and pressure the opposition over the ground and take our chances in front of the big sticks.
-
Late change. Swans lose another tall with Allir Allir out. Robbie Fox comes in.
Their tallest defender is now Dawson at 192cm. So they are going with a small side.
Wather forecast: Fine conditions now but rain is expected later in the match.
-
Swans pinged for deliberate rushed behind. Jack goal :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
Syd 0.0-0
-
Out of the centre again. Dusty to Caddy to Bolton. Ordinary kick not to Lynch's advantage. Stoppage inside F50. Free to Soldo 30 out. Misses :P.
7 - 0
-
50 against Kmac allows the Swans out of our press. Lucky Papley misses.
7 - 1
-
Geez can we stop butchering the last kick inside F50.
-
That's better. Chol to Lambert who runs inside 50 and hits up Dusty 15 out. Goal :gotigers.
Rich 2.1-13
Syd 0.1-1
-
Pickett give out of the centre to Bolton on the run who nails it from 45 :gotigers.
Rich 3.1-19
Syd 0.1-1
-
Grrr. Too many mistakles and fumbles on the wing there.
19 - 7
-
Really poor Eggmolese-Smith and Pickett
No 2nd effort by Pickett at all
-
Chol marks in the pocket. Hits the post.
20 - 7
-
Jack misses
But he looks on today
-
Broad off HB to Baker back to Broad on the bounce who hits up Graham 70 out. Finds Jack in the pocket. Misses.
21 - 7
-
That was dumb by Short. I know he was under pressure but you don't kick it blind up the corridor from the goalsquare. Lucky they miss.
21 - 8
-
Floss drops the mark and then gets pinged. Lucky they are missing their shots as well.
21 - 9
-
That was dumb by Short. I know he was under pressure but you don't kick it blind up the corridor from the goalsquare. Lucky they miss.
21 - 8
Reckon they will panic all day after the free given to Jack
-
That was the same as Floss' yet no HTB ::).
-
Quarter time
Richmond 3.3-21
Sydney 1.3-9
Goals: Riewoldt, Bolton, Martin.
-
Umpires been woeful as usual. Cantstandya equally as bad. Liked Chol and Bolton’s work.
-
That was dumb by Short. I know he was under pressure but you don't kick it blind up the corridor from the goalsquare. Lucky they miss.
21 - 8
Reckon they will panic all day after the free given to Jack
True but Short should have kicked it wider as even if it's turned over it's a harder kick at goal for the opposition. It's the better precentage play. In the end it didn't matter as the Sydney player missed the gift and kicked a point.
-
We started well with our pressure and we were mostly clean which got us the first three goals but the second half of the quarter we seem to become too cute and sloppy. Allowed the Swans back into the game. Lucky they missed two easy shots. Dimma needs to give them a blast to refocus on doing the basics right.
Josh Kennedy out of the game with a medial. So the Swans are one down.
-
Another mistackle :scream.
21 - 15
They are cleaner in the contest. That's what is getting them back into the game.
-
stuff me Shortsteps is such a weak dog.... >:(
peeweak tackling back this quarter so far.... :thumbsdown :thumbsdown
-
Geese some of our pressure and tackling efforts have been terrible.
Pickett is lazy as.
-
More fumbles :banghead.
-
This is terrible. Just slop.
Our forward entries are embarrassing.
-
Get Cantstandya off the ground ffs
-
McIntosh's dumb meathead football is killing our attack....
-
The Swans are playing a loose man in our F50 and we're just kicking it to him :banghead.
-
Jack's soccer kick misses.
22 - 15
-
Dumb Graham.
-
Selfish Caddy. Kicks a point.
23 - 15
-
Nice torp from Rioli but too far out.
Half-time
Richmond 3.3 3.5-23
Sydney 1.3 2.3-15
Goals: Riewoldt, Bolton, Martin.
One word for that quarter .......... Terrible! :chuck
-
What a rabble... we have zero midfield talent aside from Dusty and Cotch.
-
Absolutely bloody useless
The only players with any ability is Bolton and Vlaustin. The rest are woeful.
Martin has played the worst I’ve seen. Looks like he spent the week on the Gold Coast
-
Not the midfield which is the issue it's the lack of pressure and liabilities like graham
He is average
-
Dumb Graham.
Halfwit.
-
Ehh what do you expect. 2nd stringers getting a real crack at it and we look average. Graham, Pickett and the likes are complimented by the a graders.
-
Swans must be arse...any other side would be killing us... :shh
-
The match is being played on the Swans terms. Numbers behind the ball defensive low scoring war of attrition. Our forward entries have been lazy bombs so we're playing into their backline's hands with the loose man in defence. Our forwards and half-forwards need to work harder while our mids need to lower the eyes rather than always going the long lazy bomb in hope. The weather conditions are going to make it harder as well for Lynch and Jack to take high marks so our crumbers need to be front and centre to stop the Swans winning it easily at ground level in our F50. We need work harder forward of centre and be smarter. Too much dumb footy out there so far :banghead.
-
Probably should've rested Lynch & played another mid in hindsight....(now cue Lynch kicking a bag in the second half) :shh
-
Point to them. Too easy clearance from our F50.
23 - 16
-
The way they are interpreting the HTB today is why I hate it. Punishing the player making the play.
-
More aimless long bombs to an outnumbered forward :banghead. Rushed point to us.
We get it back. Aarts to George 40 out. Misses.
25 - 16
-
Not sold on Eggmolese-Smith
-
LOL calling that deliberate ::). Umps clueless today in these wet conditions.
-
Strong contested mark by Lynch 35 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.7-31
Syd 2.4-16
-
Probably should've rested Lynch & played another mid in hindsight....(now cue Lynch kicking a bag in the second half) :shh
:lol
You might be onto something
Mark and goal :thumbsup
-
What a rabble... we have zero midfield talent aside from Dusty and Cotch.
Prestia says hello
-
Think Higgo needs a rest
All at sea today
-
:facepalm
-
A way out there suggestion
If Tommy Papley wants out of Sydney at the end of this season we should go after him.
Love the way he plays and his agression
-
Hopefully we win but gee its terrible footy to watch
-
Hopefully we win but gee its terrible footy to watch
Ain't that the truth
Though Sydney are dragging us down to this level. All the want to do is play keepings off
-
Very luck there Tiges. Terrible.
31 - 17
-
If Graham's was deliberate then so was that ::).
-
We're doing our best to give them a goal.
Higgins is stuffed as WP said. Can't run.
-
Not sure how many chances Rioli deserves. Average again this week.
We seem to be getting 5 minutes of effort and 40 minutes of going through the motions from him
Others maybe butchering the ball but at least I'm not sitting here thinking they're not having a dip
-
Hack kick after hack kick to the loose Sydney defender :banghead
-
3/4 time
Richmond 3.3 3.5 4.7-31
Sydney 1.3 2.3 2.5-17
Goals: Lynch, Riewoldt, Bolton, Martin.
Only positive is we're in front. Dumb dumb dumb shocking footy :facepalm.
-
Ill just be happy with us getting 4 points today. Its been shocking footy. Id like to see some other kids get a run like Tom Dow and Callum Coleman Jones just to name two.
-
Any kick over 30m should automatically never be out of bounds deliberately. It's easy to change that rule.
-
A way out there suggestion
If Tommy Papley wants out of Sydney at the end of this season we should go after him.
Love the way he plays and his agression
Tom Papley has impressed me too. I think hed be a massive upgrade on a Castagna.
-
How do they keep getting the ball out of the contest? Geez we're lucky Kennedy went down early... :shh
-
Should we be chanting ole ole ole or as singing swing low sweet chariot. It's about as fast as rugby and soccer.
-
What a terrible terrible game. The no-think bomb it on the boot style of kicking both into our fwd 50 and out of our def50 has been really disappointing. Higgins not up to it, just dumb. Will be hard for these players to shine with so many a graders out of the team. Balta looks like he has worked hard and had a other solid game although he hasn't had to do much. Vlastuin solid again. Bolton has faded out. Who's going to step up and show they want their spot in the team ?
-
Hack kick after hack kick to the loose Sydney defender :banghead
Driving me nuts today too TK :banghead.
-
A way out there suggestion
If Tommy Papley wants out of Sydney at the end of this season we should go after him.
Love the way he plays and his agression
At least we wouldn't have to tackle him, which currently seems beyond our players... :shh
-
Can’t wait to watch the replay of this game. One of our best ever performances
-
How do they keep getting the ball out of the contest? Geez we're lucky Kennedy went down early... :shh
It would be nice if we could pin the arm in the tackle more often than not.
-
Our depth isnt as good as what we thought. Happy just to get the four points with this effort
-
Really dumb footy at times look up hit a target lool bombing it out smalls a garbage again to many passengers.
-
Jack Graham gets criticised but he runs hard and links well.
-
Good transition. Graham long and Lynch paid the free 30 out. Misses.
32 - 17
-
Come on take our chances keeping them in it. :banghead
-
Rioli poor today
-
Vlastuin Grimes and Broad holding our defence together
-
C'mon ump. There's not two sets of rules out there ::).
-
A way out there suggestion
If Tommy Papley wants out of Sydney at the end of this season we should go after him.
Love the way he plays and his agression
Tom Papley has impressed me too. I think hed be a massive upgrade on a Castagna.
And Rioli at the moment, the way he is playing
-
LOL. Two HTB rules out there.
-
Just then highlights the problem with Pickett's game right now
Needed to tackle rather than push
That's WAFL footy right there
-
Picketts a VFL standard player
-
I'd walk out too Dimma
-
Dustys a liability too playing disgracefully.
-
pee off Dusty u stuffing idiot
-
Poor Dusty. Selfish frustration lead to that Papley goal.
32 - 24
5 mins to go.
-
Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb
-
A millionaire playing like a lazy sook
-
I'd walk out too Dimma
:yep
-
Vlastuin is the only player who's played consistently. Maybe Grimes too. Must be leading the bnf
-
Geez we've been dumb today. A cross the ground kick in the wet to a contest :facepalm.
We get it back. Bolton misses.
33 - 25
-
Lynch shot falls short. Rushed.
34 - 25
-
Yep no HTB for us ::).
-
Lucky time is running out.
34 - 26
-
All sweet
We're home
-
I know it's a disgraceful game folks. But just think, imagine barracking for Sydney
-
Thank god thats over.
-
Not sure how given that was the worst display of footy by us in a long time but we won :phew.
-
Reckon the weather stuff us up as well
-
Anyone other than Sydney and Adelaide and we get flogged today. embarrassing stuff
-
Some actually look like they don't want to be out there.
-
Let’s never talk about this game again
-
Final Score
Richmond 3.3 3.5 4.7 4.10-34
Sydney 1.3 2.3 2.5 3.8-26

LOL winning a game despite only kicking one goal after the first ten minutes of the game :damnpc :chuck

Yeah I thought Vlastuin was BOG
The thing that I'm finding the most frustrating is the lack of forward defensive pressure. It is practically non existent this year
-
2 hours I won’t get back.
Absolutely rubbish performance and game. My eyes are still hurting for watching it. :banghead

Report Card: Round 6
Foxsports
13 July 2020
RICHMOND
Despite booting just four goals, Richmond still managed to claim the four points against Sydney on Sunday. In a dour contest, the understrength Tigers went on a run in the opening term, which proved enough to ensure they would win. Slippery conditions didn’t help the players as the match went on, with just two goals across the two teams for the entire second half.
In the votes
Jayden Short was the leading disposal winner for Richmond with 26 touches, rebounding well from the defensive half of the ground. On the wing, Kamdyn McIntosh had 24 disposals, while Kane Lambert (22 disposals, six tackles and six inside 50s) played one of his better games of the season.
Room for improvement
Richmond won the inside 50s 53-35, but in front of the scoreboard they struggled to boot 4.10. Going forward, the Tigers were forced to go sideways and backwards far too often, given Sydney’s attempts to defend the ground as much as possible.

No one is talking about how bad we were are they?

Despite the game Lambert said the positive is we're getting our mojo back and playing more like the Richmond way.

is it april fools day lambo?
