With West Coast going to town on GWS, I thought I would look at what we need to do if we want a top 4 spot
Port - 40 points - Sydney, North, Essendon, Collingwood
Brisbane - 40 - Collingwood, Gold Coast, Sydney, Carlton
Geelong - 36 - Dogs, Essendon, Richmond, Sydney
West Coast - 36 - Richmond, Essendon, Dogs, StK, North
Port will win 3. So we can’t catch them. Brisbane should win 3 as well.
I think we genuinely need to win every game to make the top 4.
Richmond - 34 - West Coast, Freo, Geelong, Adelaide
We should be beating Freo and Adelaide. Unless we can win against both Geelong and West Coast we will need plenty of luck.
Our best chances as I can see it are -
Doggies to beat Geelong
West Coast is going to be extremely hard to pass with the game in hand. If we manage to knock them off , then we will still need them to lose another game.
Again the dogs are our chance, or possibly StK?
What are everyone’s thoughts?
One thing I know is percentage won’t impact the quest for a top 4 spot (barring a team above us drawing a game on the run home)
-
Very small chance now IMO. I think the top 4 gets settled this week if we lose to the eagles
-
If the dogs can beat Geelong we are still a big chance
That game is crucial
-
Cmon Giants....
-
We need to win a minimum 3 of the 4 and hope other results go our way
-
Essendon play Port, Geelong and West Coast. Maybe we played them into some form...maybe
;D
-
Media to crawl out of our asses
-
Same as last year. Win our last 4 and we finish top 4. We had to beat top 4 sides Eagles & Brisbane in 2019 in the last two rounds to get there and we did it. Our destiny is in our own hands. Up to us if we are good enough.
-
Win this week and we are a massive chance!
Should bank wins against freo and Adelaide although I’m hoping they’ve won a game by then so they don’t come out all guns blazing.
Then it may come down to the cats who I must say have looked impressive recently and very well balanced.
-
I wouldn't count us out of a top 4 finish - but we need Geelong and WC to have a bit of a slump. Entirely possible given that WC have to travel now and Geelong didn't look convincing against the Crows. They have both been 'up' for a while and are due for a downer. Fingers crossed.

We don’t really need anyone to have a form slump. Our top 4 chances are entirely in our own hands. If we win our last 4 then we finish top4 simple as that.
-
Worry about ourselves and need to step it up is the current form good enough to win against eagles and cats I don't think so we need more intensity, better skills and pressure and most important efficiency n our 50.

If we want that top 4 spot it begins tonight.

Tonight's game just proves you can't rely on other teams doing you a favour even when they are given a six goal start ::).
Thankfully, we still have our destiny in our own hands. 3 to go!
-
Round 17 st k v weagles might shape the 4. Essendbum might shape it too if daniher stays in form they play the cats eagles and port
-
Is Port going to get out of Adelaide why a they not in a hub for second time like eagles.

Will Kane Cornes call it a disgrace that Port were allowed to play so many games at home? :rollin

4. RICHMOND (9-4-1, 121%)
Remaining games: Fremantle at MS, bye, Geelong Cats at MS, Adelaide Crows away
Remaining fixture difficulty: 14th-hardest
They might be the premiership favourite after their win over West Coast, but the Tigers aren’t even assured of a top four spot yet.
It’s hard to see them catching Port Adelaide, and Brisbane is two points ahead with a game in hand, so it’s unlikely they’ll catch them either.
The Eagles have a game in hand over them, so if they go 4-0 - no sure thing, though Adam Simpson’s side will be favoured in all of its remaining games - they can still pass the Tigers.
So it’s going to come down to Round 17 against Geelong (barring a massive upset by the Dockers or Crows). The winner of that game is almost certainly safe in the top four. The loser, especially if it’s Richmond, is most likely to finish fifth.
Fox Footy’s projection: 11.5 wins, finishing fifth

There are a lot of assumptions in there for the last round they don't even consider.
-
Beating Geelong will go a long way to winning the big one.
Brisbane in Brisbane is heaps easier than Port in Port.
-
As long we kick with the wind vs Port we should be fine :thumbsup

But beating Port in Port will be sweeter (and might just shut Kane Cornes up)

Will the human meatball be back this year?
With the pre-finals bye they reckon he should be good to go for first week of finals.
-
Is prestia a walk up start considering the footy he’s missed and how bad of an injury it was?
-
He will have to be. Just need to hope we can sort of carry him for a week or two.
I look at it and I think he's better than the likes of Ross, Higgins etc even if he's on one leg.
Hopefully there's a scratch match.
-
Now all down to us tomorrow night to do the job :pray.
-
Better this way.
Don't want them going in relaxed.
They will lift for the occasion.
-
Done the hard yards to jump up to 3rd. Now to finish the job in Adelaide.

The side Richmond would have their sights set on in finals
By SEN
12 September 2020
Richmond were ultra-impressive in their 26-point win over Geelong on Friday night and would now be eyeing off Brisbane during the upcoming finals series, according to Gerard Whateley.
The Tigers put in one of their best performances this season in a match that was billed as a potential preview of this year’s Grand Final.
Brisbane, who currently sit in second place, are on track to face Richmond in the first week of the finals, which would be a rematch of their meeting in the same stage of the 2019 finals series.
The Lions have a poor record of late against the Tigers, having not beaten them since 2009 and Whateley said the looming matchup would suit Damien Hardwick’s side well.
“Richmond would have their sights set on the Lions,” he said on AFL Nation.
“They have a commanding record against them, and the Cats belted Port Adelaide, rather than the other way around where Port Adelaide had a nice win against Richmond and the Lions have wins over Geelong at the Gabba in recent times.
“The heroics of West Coast (against St Kilda on Thursday night) just don’t count for as much once the sums are done on this, they’re fifth (on the ladder) and need someone to stumble again to find their way back in."
Three of this year’s contenders – Richmond, Geelong and West Coast – all have what appear to be straightforward matches in the final round of the home and away season against Adelaide, Sydney and North Melbourne respectively.
But Whateley pointed out that ladder-leaders Port Adelaide have a tricky clash against Collingwood to end the season, which could prove to be a “high stakes” contest.
“History would suggest they’d be a stumble from one of the top four teams potentially in the six games left," he said.
“The match ups don’t lend itself to (upsets) but Port Adelaide still need to face Collingwood who could be going tooth and nail for a place in the eight – that might be a really high stakes game.
“There’s less of a potential to stumble for Richmond, Geelong and West Coast.”

We have a good history from finishing 3rd.... :shh
-
Yes we do. We do indeed.
-
Given the contracted nature of this year and probably the finals too the double chance is crucial more for the break between games. If WC finish 5th they could easily beat 4th the 2nd week of finals.
-
If our players play with their hearts and souls and give everything no one will beat them in the finals. Its up to our players now. They will win it all if they give their best.

Agreed Ramps.
I’d add the unshakeable belief in the game plan that delivers ..... particularly in finals.
That belief beats Port at Adelaide Oval PLUS Shedda, Bachar, Meatie, Capt, Nank and Astbury
We know what is does to everyone else in the 8 ;D
-
Norf have kicked the first two goals. Blow the siren ;D

Like the saints las week both teams could’ve done us a favour but for some reason can’t convert the countless opportunities :banghead
Easy shots too! :facepalm
-
North didn’t want to win that. Took Tarrant, Simpkin and Higgins off for most of the last qtr
-
Crows won't want to win either. Not that it matters, we will destroy them.
-
Some Port fans are saying they want to play us in the first week of the finals rather than Geelong because they beat us while they lost badly to the Cats.

Which is also why I want them to play Geelong.
We have the cats covered.
Port I would much prefer to play later if required, in QLD.
-
Tick and we relied on no one else. 4th year in a row top 4. Top stuff Tiges :clapping
Now for the finals and the main prize.
