Round 14
Richmond vs West Coast
Thursday, 27th August @ Metricon Stadium
Start time: 7.10pm
-
Think we're in trouble. Hope I'm wrong.
-
West Coast have won 8 in a row and are coming off a four day break.
And are relocating to Queensland, so must travel and settle in as well.
I think they are due for a loss.
-
We will win this. Easily.
-
How can we expose the eagles for anyone been watching them ?.Yeah they won 8 in row in Perth tho.Gws had a go yesterday. We got to lift alot nd I mean lift in all areas 22 contributing carrying a few passengers, skills and execution, forward and midfield combination to.
-
Suggestions on Twitter that Nic Nat, maybe rested due to the flight and short turn around :huh3
-
Not bombing it long into their forward line would be a good start. They have better intercept marking defenders than most and we’ve been keeping teams in it far too long into a match because of it.

Yep that will be the key as McGovern will have a field day.Agree had alot of dominance and no scoreboard pressure.
-
If we play like we did last Saturday night McGovern will break the AFL record for intercepts... :shh
-
Ross Lyon & Matthew Lloyd's preview:
Chaos, run & get it forward footy vs measured short kick & mark maintaining possession footy.
RANKINGS RICH WCE
Play-ons #3 #14
run & bounce #2 #10
kick to hball #12 #2
inside 50s #3 #13
scoring per in50 #8 #3
Richmond are going inside 50 far more but are finding it harder to score. The Eagles are efficient and make the most of their fewer chances.
NicNat #1 in hitouts to advantage, clearances, scores from clearances. Nank brought in to bash & crash.
McGovern #1 & Barrass #5 in intercept marks over recent years. Lloyd said you need to play McGovern the way the Swans did with Buddy. Buddy would lead up from the goalsquare to 40 out. McGovern would stay back waiting for the long deep kick and the Swans mids lowered their eyes to Buddy. Made a fool of McGovern.
Richmond $1.77
Weagles $2.05
Both Lyon & Lloyd tipping us to win.
-
I find it hard to believe we are only 8th from scoring per in50. Surely we are rock bottom for goals per in50 then?
-
Dees, Pies & Dogs with no star key forwards would be worse. That's leaving out the bottom six sides.
Our poor efficiency inside F50 hasn't been in every game. We smashed the Dogs while the loss to Port was due to our poor mids with our efficency actually keeping us in the game on the scoreboard. The problem has occurred more against bottom sides who flood back and park the bus such as the Swans, Suns and Dons.
It will be interesting if we see the same problem against a fellow top side that will be coming at us. The issue for me tonight is the midfield battle. If we can nullify NicNat and match them in clearances then we'll be okay as the Eagles won't flood to save face; if not then it will be a repeat of the Port game :help.
-
Pressure good early.
Lynch goal.

That shut up the boos too lol.

Nice little 7 meter pass for the shot on goal.

Great game so far

Goals: Lynch
-
Cantstandya is woeful. Dropped a sitter which was Jacks anyway
-
Pressure excellent. However, a couple of sloppy disposals that missed targets when we were on a breakout were costly missed opportunities.
-
Too easy :banghead
-
Disappointed in Bachar there
Just didn't read it well
Easy mark Ryan, easy goal
-
No HTB rule :rolleyes
::)
-
Free to Lynch
Glad to see that paid
He gets mauled like that every week
GOAL

Houli overran the ball. Lucky Ryan missed
-
Houli overran the ball. Lucky Ryan missed
Yes 2nd or 3rd time he's misread the play
-
Rioli handball creates a turnover
Easy goal to them
Scores level
-
That kick by Nank was 15m? Thanks ump!
-
Is Grimes injured?
-
We are overdoing the handballs in heavy traffic.
-
Graham tackle on Nic Nat :bow

Graham top tackle on NicNat. Goal
31 - 25
-
Grimes off the ground & in the rooms HRT.

So good to have Nank back
Having an influence
And boy can Graham tackle

Almost Geoge
-
Suggesting Grimes has done his hammy
-
George kick falls short.
Grimes hammy they're saying :(
-
Much better by Bachar there
-
Frees: 7 - 12
-
Graham keeps up this sort of pressure I think he will probably break records. :clapping
Good to see our pressure is on early. We need to maintain this
-
George kick falls short.
Grimes hammy they're saying :(
Looks minor he was running up and down the boundary
-
Geez Pickett has been horrible. Can’t kick to a forwards advantage - Ever!
-
Cotchin AWESOME
Soldo was actually very good
Baker should be one of the first picked every week
-
1/2 time
Richmond 1.1 5.2-32
West Coast 1.0 4.2-26
Goals: Lynch 2, Riewoldt, Aarts, Graham.
-
George kick falls short.
Grimes hammy they're saying :(
Looks minor he was running up and down the boundary
Yes run throughs to determine how bad it is
Reckon he is done for the night, we don't risk him
-
Confirmed by Dimma
Grimes has done his hammy, out of the game
-
Confirmed by Dimma
Grimes has done his hammy, out of the game
:banghead
The last player we can afford to lose
-
Cotch BOG so far.
Baker & Balta very good.
Apart from early 2nd qtr Nank & Soldo done well to nullify NicNat.
As Dimma said just got to clean up our groundball game. Critical overruns of the ball & missed handball targets.
-
Rioli goal
38 - 26
-
Finally a small front and square
Guess what a goal
-
Grrr! Soft goal.
-
Why is Kam on the last line of defence minding Ryan? :help
-
Dusty
Goal
-
Why is Kam on the last line of defence minding Ryan? :help
Needs to be fixed quick. Should of never happened
-
Stuffed up an open chance twice :facepalm.
Dusty makes up for it :bow
44 - 32
-
Must be those new Nikes
-
So so lucky there Bschar :gobdrop
-
Bachar lucky although we missed out on two HTBs
-
Silly silly Tiges
So worried about Ryan
No need for that Kam
-
Too slow George
-
These umpires have lost their minds right now. What is holding the ball or incorrect disposal???
-
Goal George
But that belongs to Jack, brilliant team footy
-
Hooray George!
50 - 33
-
:lol
Barass (sp?) Worried about Soldo
-
Dow has done some nice things.
Soldo goal
56 - 33
-
I'm liking Dow
Not overawed
-
Pickett :clapping
Sensational tackle
-
Graham dumped downfield.
Nank goal.
62 - 33
-
Nank goals after a free down field after a large hit on Graham
62 - 33
-
Poor option by Balta there
Dodged a bullet
-
And have to say it is great to see both Graham and Short without their shoulders strapped
-
Two HTB rules tonight ::)
dumb by Balta
-
Stupid handball by Lambert :banghead
-
Wow Wee
Bolton amazing goal
-
Bolton all class.
68 - 41
-
Geez Bolton has come of age this year. He's playing the best of his career
-
I don't blame Floss There
point the finger at Short, had to stick that tackle on Kelly
-
Kelly us a big unit. Hard to budge.
-
Too easy :banghead
-
Why wasn't that a free to Vlastuin?
-
That is a disgraceful decision
He fell forward :banghead
-
Too cute twice in the last min cost us a goal :banghead
-
All the good work partly lost due to 2 really soft goals in the last 3 mins of that qtr
We should 4 goals up not 14 points
Disappointing
-
Eff me, talk about a serious lack of composure. 45 seconds to go and Short decides to play on and Turn it over in the middle. Add that to the Missed tackle and he gifts WC a 13 point turn around.
-
It is only staging when a Tiger does it :whistle
-
Are we cooked from last week?? Time will tell. Simple errors killing us out of defence
This might be close.
-
I’m expecting a slight drop off this last quarter after the humidity on Saturday night.
Let’s hope the boys grind it out. :gotigers
-
3/4 time
Richmond 1.1 5.2 11.2-68
West Coast 1.0 4.2 8.6-54

26 points up
80 - 54
-
Balta 70m bomb!
80 - 54
-
Woo woo wee wa!
-
We are pressing
-
:banghead
They go coast to coast
Easy goal
-
Grrr!
-
Pickett just burned Lynch’s lead to have a ping himself.
-
That 10 seconds is why we love Nank
-
Stuffed up that F50 attack
-
And the free kick bath continues.
-
We've been good alot
But that was the play of the night :bow :bow
-
Dusty goal
87 - 60
great transition!
-
Balta BOG (for taking Kennedy out)
-
Deft little knock out by Balta meant Ryan didnt Mark :clapping
-
That was brilliant again.

-
That’s pretty amateur Jack!
-
Top 4 for now :thumbsup
-
Final score
Rich: 14.4.88
WCE: 9.7.61
-
My 2 cents.
Nank - so good to have you back! So tough, hurts blokes
Balta - wow. Sensational
Aarts - best game he's played, was everywhere
Soldo. Those thinking he doesn't play he stuck it right up you tonight
Cotch - nothing to say, he's a gun leader.
-
What the hell Jack?
Anyway great effort and pressure all game.
Only miss off the boot all night?
-
Final score
Richmond 1.1 5.2 11.2 14.4-88
West Coast 1.0 4.2 8.6 9.7-61
Goals: Lynch 3, Dusty 2, Riewoldt, Graham, Aarts, Nankervis, Soldo, Rioli, Bolton, Castagna, Balta.
-
What a performance!!! We really took their game away from them tonight, didn’t let them chip it around and kept them to sub 5 intercept marks too :bow :clapping
Must say I thought nicnat would rip us to shreds in the ruck but soldo and nank kept it as even as we could hope for. I’d go as far to say that was soldos best game of his career.
Team pressure was great. Return to form for the smalls too I thought.
Balta :clapping
-
Fantastic game, real spirit lifter, we all talk and squabble about in’s and outs but I think the selectors nailed it tonight.
Great stuff!!
Y & B
-
Balta, Baker & Bolton! How good are the young lads? Throw in Dow & Aarts for good measure & our youth are going to give us a big chance!
Excellent win tonight, elite pressure all night & the Eagles folded in a pathetic heap!
Here come the Tiges! :gotigers
-
Obviously the best performance of the year!!
Everyone played their part tonight and we know how exciting Balta and the like are but how good was big Soldo tonight. Best game he has played in his short career. Short was also absolutely sensational!!
Again, great team effort.
-
3 Balta
2 Cotchin
1 Short or Vlaustin or Baker or Martin or Lynch or Aarts or Graham I can’t decide
-
I thought Pickett was very good too.
Tackled more tonight rather than going the bump all the time
-

West coast wanting to pay Lolnorf money to play the game in WA.
interesting concept moving forward..
-
AFL has rejected the Eagles offer.
-
Good. Elsewise we should buy some too.
Like against North instead of always playing them at Marvel...
