Round 15
RICHMOND vs Fremantle
Wednesday, 2nd September @ Metricon Stadium
Start time: 7.10pm
-
Should be an easy win for us. Especially given Freo's 4 day break and them having to relocate to Brisbane, settle in and prepare to play one of the in-form team of the competition.
Somebody is smiling on us methinks.
-
Get the 4 points all I want can't take them lightly need to be switched on right from go they have improved this year.
-
We need to be on, I think they'll flood like crazy and make it a scrap like the Suns and Bombers games.
-
If we are fairdinkum this is an easy day at the office
And most importantly a great chance at a closer look at Cerra :rollin
-

This.
I reckon it’s a bit of a danger game.
Our game plan works best when it’s “system vs system” compared to when to oppo consciously tries to nullify our system and spring board from it

Well sooner or later we need to deal with it better coaches and players.
-
Some teams will choose to park the bus.
We just need to know how to beat that.
Lower the eyes, elsewise just get Dusty, Short and Balta to kick them from 50+.
-
Luke Ryan in doubt for the Dockers.

-
Need to come out switched on and play the game how we want it to be played. The pressure and tackling intensity, ball movement link up play etc and efficient forward entry's to.our advantage.
-
No late changes. Teams as selected.
-
Jack should've got a free there.
-
Freo flooding :rolleyes.
-
Graham free and goal.
6 - 0
-
Graham in50 & Lynch marks and goals.
12 - 0
-
In50s: 9 - 0
-
Does anyone else get a feeling that Cotch is playing like a man who wants to bow out on top? He just seems to have turned his attack on the ball / man up a few notches than usual.
-
Can't just bomb it. Freo have parked the bus.
-
Cotch lifting in time for finals. Dusty similar. In first gear early in the season.
-
We should have a couple more goals on the board
Have really dominated
-
Umpire is a clueless idiot
-
Umpire Debby
What more can you say?
Soft goal to Freo from a poor umpiring call
-
What a joke. Both were holding each other. Only way Freo were going to get a goal thanks to the umps :banghead
-
1/4 time
Richmond 2.2-14
Fremantle 1.0-6
Goals: Lynch, Graham
-
Pay the least obvious and obstructive free kick to ensure an easy goal.
-
Is there a possibility that Jack and Tom can just lead and use momentum and bulk to help them mark the footy?
It’s just a waste of time banging it on top of heads. :banghead
Absolutely pointless exercise.
Lead lead lead lead. It doesn’t matter how many are there in defensive fifty.
Smash packs and hurt the defenders. They won’t make the contest so easily next time.
-
Freo flooding and trying to make this a low scoring grind like the Swans did. We need to win some clearances in the guts and lower our eyes going in50.
-
Lynch goal
20 - 6
-
Tom goals
20-6
-
Average defence there
Allowing Fyfe to be standing on his own :banghead
-
Got to lift around the stoppages. Freo winning too many clearances
-
Will the media scrutinise Fyfe for getting free by hitting Cotch in the face as they did to Lynch?
-
:banghead :banghead
Should not have allowed that mark
-
Crap qtr by us. Just slop.
-
They are just playing keepings off
-
Kmac goal
26 - 8
-
Well done Higgins then Floss
Good team goal
-
Bloody hell, finally got a free kick. How many did they not pay us in that passage of play.
-
Only positive this qtr is we're efficient. 2 goals from 3 in50s.
-
:lol :lol
That was funny by Aarts
Got a bit ahead of himself
-
Dusty to Lynch. Misses.
27 - 8
-
Trying to be too cute coming out of defence
-
Umps just making it up as they go.
-
We are flat as a pancake. Cotch, Dusty and Shai not in it yet
-
1/2 time
Richmond 2.2 4.3-27
Fremantle 1.0 1.2-8
Goals: Lynch 2, Graham, McIntosh.
-
This game :banghead :banghead :banghead
:pullhair :boredom :yawn
:sleep :sleep :sleep :sleep :sleep
:help :help :help :help :help :help :help
-
Look like they're out for a practice run.
Laughing at all their stuff ups etc.
Freo are utter trash.
-
:neener :surrender
-
Freo actually won the territory that qtr because they won the clearances. Luckily they missed their chances while we made the most of few in50s. That was slop from us. The game needs Benny Hill music given all the errors.
ps. As for the umps :facepalm :help.
-
It's interesting against lower teams this year we seem to coast along
But like last round against the Eagles, against a top team we seem to switch on and go up a gear. Much more intense in the contest
-
I’m not worried. We are just doing enough.
Hard to get up and play high tempo every game.
-
Our stoppage work tonight :banghead
-

True
-
Dow to Cotch to Jack. Miss.
28 - 9
-
Only 7 possessions to Dusty at this stage
-
The umpiring is rather interesting ::)
-
Why won’t our forwards lead? :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Interesting = crap umpiring :yep
-
Grrr! :banghead
-
Pathetic
Very soft goal
Coasting around
Baker didn't attack the contest against Loeb
Awful
-
Say this every week but our forward line entries are a bloody disgrace
-
I’m going to pull my eyes out of my sockets.
This is just so excruciating
-
Can’t watch this
Kellie Underwood is unbearable
And I’m not anti female commentators, Doris in the NBA is awesome
-
There is no way you can watch this umpiring and say they aren’t cheats. They can’t wait to blow the whistle against us but won’t pay anything to us.
-
Can we win a centre clearance, Tiges?
-
This is nearly as bad as round 2 v Collingwood.
-
It's a bit embarassing at the moment
We gift them another one
We don't look like scoring
-
Lazy :banghead.
28 - 21
-
It begins in the guts. Getting smashed.
-
Hooray we actually won a clearance.
Clearances 9 - 28
-
Not sure if I should laugh or cry watching this
-
The loss we need. :rollin
-
These umps might as well be wearing purple.
-
Really stupid by Cotchin
He's playing angry tonight and it is at times hurting us alot
-
We've played some shocking quarters this year But struth thst was woeful
-
3/4 time
Richmond 2.2 4.3 4.4-28
Fremantle 1.0 1.2 3.4-22
Goals: Lynch 2, Graham, McIntosh
-
8 free kicks to 0 that quarter.
-
Not laughing and smiling at each other after every error now.... :shh
-
Bruise free Tigers tonight
-
What odds on Mundy kicking the winner after the siren again? :shh
-
We're off but the umps have been biased beyond belief towards Freo. Apparently it's ok to hit Richmond players in the face >:(
-
Poor by Mrakov
-
OMG we got a free!
Jack mark. Miss.
29 - 22
-
Aarts goal
35 - 22
-
Another centre clearance :Banghead
-
Jack marks wide. Goal!
41 - 28
-
Rushed.
42 - 28
8 min to go.
-
Houli to George. Miss.
43 - 28
-
Umps have finally realised we're out there.
-
Pickett gets 50. Higgo goal.
49 - 28
finally finished them off.
-
That was a free
-
That was great by Pickett :clapping
-
We win
Take the 4 points, take the bye
And see you -v- Geelong
-
Higgo in the pocket. Touched on the goal-line.
We get it back and Lynch marks and goals on the siren.
Won 56 - 29
-
Final score
Richmond 2.2 4.3 4.4 8.8-56
Fremantle 1.0 1.2 3.4 4.5-29

We've had quite a few games that were and are unwatchable
-
We were able to get away with flicking the switch in the last when we needed to.
Played mentally off for most of the game. Reflected in us laughing at our mistakes and the clearances where we were smashed.
Take the 4 pts plus no injuries and move on.
-
Take the win. The mids were destroyed and that was the worst rucking performance by a pair I've seen in a very long time.
It's been good to give Dow a taste but the taste stops now. I like him though...
Happy for Higgins to also take the rest of the year off. It's been a remarkable return and well done to the young man.
Gee it was a shocking game to watch :help

Agreed.
Dow shelf for the year.
Higgins trade please. Do not want.
-
Drop Dow, Higgo and Soldo. Bring in Chol, Lambert and Grimes versus Cats
-
Slomo & Nank were both woeful... :shh
-
4 games in 16 days. It showed. Give some of the boys some slack. Agree on Dow & Higgo although latter was ok in the last.

Spot on way to harsh and let's not forgot under manned last month to big time.
-
It has to be hard for guys waiting in the wings and only playing scrimmage games. No game continuity and then expected to walk into the side and play at the highest level, very demanding expectations.
-
Pffffft.
I’d have taken a 27 point win pre game.
We get 9 days to freshen up and hopefully we welcome back Lambert and Grimes.
One week later, Shedda comes back and then we can look forward to Astbury and Meatie in week 1 of the finals.
Feels like 2019 to me.
:shh
-
Yup bank the 4 points and move on.
2 more wins and we’ll secure top 4 with 5 locked on best 22 players to come back in. Given ourselves a great chance at back to back.
-
Slomo & Nank were both woeful... :shh
Nankervis has the worst ruck performance since Hampsud played for us.
How can you have 1 disposal in 60 minutes of footy?
Soldo had disposals but might as well not. Couldn’t kick, handpass with any coordination.
Overall two rucks didn’t even add up to having 1 effective ruckman both combined contributed 9 metres gained. :rollin
-
Was at the game and the umpiring was atrocious
-
Our 2 best key defenders out injured. Keep opponent to 27 points. Cudos must be given here.

Not sure DTL Dave is ahead of Noah

Was at the game and the umpiring was atrocious
What was worse in order of atrociousness? Umpires, our Rucks, our inside 50 entries?
From what I saw on tv I would rate it
Third place umpires, second place our forward 50 entries and the winners here for atrociousness on the night (drumroll) our Rucks.
-
I would have umpires at #1
#2 our forward 50 entries
#3 complacency. Dimma’s spray jolted them in the last quarter
-
Umpires were reasonable I thought apart from Balta getting absolutely stiffed.

Why Hardwick would be "disappointed" with Richmond performance
By SEN
3 September 2020
Richmond left Metricon Stadium with four points on Wednesday night, but Nick Dal Santo was not convinced by their performance.
A four-goal fourth quarter saw the Tigers break away from Fremantle after a less than inspiring performance to that point. Coach Damien Hardwick clearly agreed as he gave the side an enormous spray during the final break.
They take on Geelong on September 11 in a game that will have enormous top four ramifications and Dal Santo believes Richmond must play significantly better than they did on Wednesday night to match the Cats.
“I’d love to be in the changerooms, we know he’s jovial at times, but they’ve only got two more games,” Dal Santo told AFL Nation.
“They’ve got the Cats next week and they’ve got a nine-day break, but if they perform like they did tonight, that’s not going to stack up against the Cats.
“The risk is, and I’m not saying it’s a huge risk right now, Damien Hardwick would be saying guys, ‘this is full dress rehearsal sort of stuff’.
“There’s David Astbury, Josh Caddy, Shane Edwards, Kane Lambert and Dion Prestia, there’s five that can come back into the team.
“In some ways I think Hardwick would be disappointed with the way that the game went, knowing in the last quarter when they had to flip the switch they did it comfortably in the end.”
