Just curious if other people here have trouble playing "backed up" DVD's sometimes?
i normally burn my at 4 speed so that i dont get any jumping, but of late i have been having a lot of trouble with discs jumping and sometimes not even reading.
I am still using the same kind of discs so am not too sure what is the problem.
I am thinking it may be the cheap-arse DVD player that i have got.
Maybe time to update.
Any assistance or advice would be great.

In the computer we use an LG and have had no issues
Previously we had a Lite On which was much cheaper
We were advised that the cheaper one had a limited working life
Pioneer is suposed to be the best, but have known people to have issues with the software
For the TV we have several cheap DVD players, all have little qwerks
The JVC for just a few bucks more doesn't miss a beat with any format

When burning DVD's on a PC, the hard drive is used as part of the caching process. If the drive is fragmented or you have apps running in the background, this can cause disruption to the data burning process. So the best thing is to Defrag your Hard drive regularly and make sure there are no apps running in the background during the process. I have backed up many of my DVD's and never had a problem.

What is your preferred choice of DVD brand when backing up your movies?
I am using Ritek 8 speed, but always burn at 4 speed as i found that i had too many troubles at 8 speed.

Bull, I usually use verbatim, TDK or Imation. Never had a problem with these brands.
