Title: Shinboner spirit
Post by: Tiger Spirit on May 01, 2006, 03:28:22 PM
My foot.

I’ve seem and heard of some strange things before, but nothing as mind bending as Nathan Thompson leaving the ground with about 4 minutes to go against Melbourne, and the game in the balance.

What were he thinking?  :help

He leaves the ground, when he was blitzing mind you, so Drew Petrie can come on.  We then see Thompson standing on the boundary line.  If he was so tired, why wasn’t he lying prostrate on the ground, barely able to move?

Couldn’t he stand on the field of play instead?  All he has to do is stand there and take a friggin mark!  But no, he gets Petrie on, who’s done nothing for about 2 seasons, and expects him to win the game for them.  Is he for real?

What elite sports person, anywhere, ever would do that?

Your forward is killing them, there’s only 4 minutes to go and the game is in the balance.  How hard is it from there, do you reckon, to decide the obvious course of action?

:help :help :help :help :help :help

Yeah that was odd TS. It wasn't like he was keeling over like Sally Robbins did at the Olympics. If a Tiger did that they wouldn't let it down from our supporters.

As for shinbonner spirit, as we learnt the hard way quick-fix recruiting and passion only takes you so far before the proverbial hits the fan. Laidley is the new Spud.

theres no such thing...for mine never has been, sure the kangaroos have played above their weight division for a long time and with courage as well...but in the end, the term "shinboner spirit" is just a marketing ploy to make their supporters feel better about themselves and their club...and thats ok...but unless they can seriously increase membership theyre in trouble for mine.

Just curious why? It’s in the major papers

Apart from it being a massive breach of someone's privacy?

That the pics have been obtained illegally?

Would think the fact with the pathetic cop is facing being charged is a good enough reason

And the major papers? Led by the gutter Murdoch media? Have only seen it one paper and that's the HUN

Reckon the Deputy Comm summed it up well, it's about respect and decency

Not my scene but whatever floats one's boat. What the police officer did was so wrong. That being said I think we have an individual struggling with things. I think now we may have two people struggling with things. Sad situation.. What frightens me is the Stalking charge.. Emotions are a scary thing.. I went through a sad divorce and all the time I was seeing those 'STAY CHATTY' stickers. But you know what ? no-one had the time or interest.. anyway. I hope he is well and I hope the policeman gets help as well. What a mess

Terry Wallace brought up there have been 5 coaches in the last 10 years with problems. I can only think of 3, Thompson, Hird and now Laidley. Any ideas on the other two?

Just caught the end of that awful "Armchair Experts" show but had to laugh when Adam Cooney was asked about Glenn Archer's claim that North's biggest rival has always been Essendon going back 125 years and Cooney said what I knew he would that he never knew or heard anything about a rivalry with North when he always thought was there but there was sort of one between Footscray & North....haha typical Norf always trying to invent these sad, desperate imaginary "rivalries"  with bigger clubs - Hawthorn(maybe legit in the 70;s -early 80;s until Hawthorn  moved on to hating Essendon), Richmond, Essendon, Collingwood , Carlton and none of the other teams even give a stuff.... :shh

There was the "marshmellow" rivalry between North and Essendon (thanks to Sheedy) for a few years in the late 90s but like North's rivalry with Hawthorn in 70s, its only fleeting and depends on North being genuine premiership contenders which they haven't been for 20 years. A true rivalry is one that has been around for decades and is independent of ladder position. It's why the big 4 get the blockbuster prime time games.
