Dimma said post-game we're playing at Metricon next week and we like playing there. When Tom Browne pushed asking if the AFL has agreed to that request rather than get us to play at the Gabba, Dimma replied "It's Metricon". Dimma then added we're happy to play anyone anywhere.
Any preference to who we play next week - the Saints or the Dogs?
-
We might want to play at Metricon, we can ask to play there
But AFL will decide, it's their call
Can see them putting us at the Gabba ;D
No preference on who we play, whoever it is we have win
-
Tom Browne said the AFL will make their decision tomorrow night. They will take our request into account. The capacity of Metricon is 16k but the size of the crowd shouldn't come into it as the match will be between two Victorian clubs with a combined membership of far less than that.
-
Will it be Friday night or Saturday night?

Will it be Friday night or Saturday night?
Not announced yet but I'm guessing a Friday night, Julz. The winner of the Semi will need to play Port who will get the Friday night Prelim the following week.

Richmond forward Tom Lynch’s return will be “critical” to the Tigers’ assault on next weekend’s elimination final, football legend Leigh Matthews has declared.
Lynch has been named as “absolutely” a certain starter for next weekend’s clash by coach Damien Hardwick after suffering a hamstring injury in Round 17.
And Matthews believes that had Lynch played on Friday night, the result against the rampant Brisbane Lions – who are through to a home preliminary final – may have been very different.
“I just reckon if Lynch was playing (on Friday night) and Harris Andrews happened to play on Lynch, then he can’t float off and help (Ryan) Lester on (Jack) Riewoldt,” Matthews said on 3AW.
“My view is Richmond would be a number of goals better off – probably winning the game better off, unless they gave up more 50 metre penalties against them.
“I think that’s how critical the two together is.
“That’s where the (Josh) Kennedy/(Jack) Darling combination (at West Coast) and the Lynch/Riewoldt combination (are unique) – it’s the only (tall forward) duos in the competition.”
The four-time premiership coach believes tall forward and back-up ruck Mabior Chol may be forced to make way for the flag-winning forward.
Matthews said that the Tigers’ tendency to “long bomb” kicks forward to attack would only benefit from an extra tall target.
“Richmond are used to having Lynch and Riewoldt (there) — two really good, big, marking forwards deep,” he said.
“You can bomb the ball in when you’ve got Lynch and Riewoldt jumping at the footy.
“(Without Lynch there) it’s very hard for teams to adjust with, ‘well what have we got tonight, compared to what we normally have?’. And normally, they’ve got enough marking power deep forward to bomb the ball in.”
Hardwick declared on Friday night that the Tigers would seek to play the elimination final at Metricon Stadium, which Matthews said made geographical sense despite suggestions that the reigning premier may be better served from another outing on the ground that will host the Grand Final.
“They’ve played plenty of games at the Gabba this year,” Matthews said.
“I think they just thought, let’s play at the stadium that’s next door to where we’re living.
“I think that’s basically why they would pick Metricon rather than the Gabba, would be my thinking.”

Barring a last qtr choke it looks like it's going to be the Saints. Need to learn from our loss to them as that's the gamestyle & form they are back in. Their dual rucks and run are the key to them.

Good for us it's going down to the wire. Tire them out.

Saints it is ... just. Dogs could have pinched that.

AFL explains why Metricon Stadium will host Richmond v St Kilda semi-final
Glenn Valencich
7Sport
4 October 2020
The AFL has confirmed Richmond will host St Kilda at Metricon Stadium in a cut-throat semi-final next Friday night.
The clash on the Gold Coast will kick off the second week of the finals before Geelong host West Coast or Collingwood at the Gabba next Saturday night.
The decision to schedule the reigning premiers’ game at Metricon - around the corner from their hub base - comes after Tigers coach Damien Hardwick made that preference clear on Friday night.
The Cats had requested to play their semi-final at the Gabba, with AFL fixtures boss Travis Auld acknowledging clubs were given a “greater opportunity to have a say in where they want to play their finals”.
“That was (Richmond’s) preference. We combine that with the fact we think it is a good opportunity to spread games throughout Queensland,” he told Channel 7.
“We have a number of finals at the Gabba (and) a final at Metricon works well.
“(The Tigers’ request) is certainly one of the factors. It has been a different year so we said upfront that we will give clubs more of a say where they play.
“Obviously the crowd variable is not the same as it is in a normal season. They are staying across the road from the stadium. It suits them.
“They have played a number of games there and that’s where they would like to play their first final.”
Meanwhile, Hardwick has declared Tom Lynch a certainty to return to face the Saints at the key forward’s former home ground on the Gold Coast.
Lynch missed the 16-point loss to Brisbane despite pushing to return from a hamstring injury.
He will line up on Friday, though, as the Tigers take on the unfamiliar task of the long road to the grand final, which will be played at the Gabba on October 24.
It will be Richmond’s first semi-final of their successful four-year run as a flag contender.
“For us it’s all about the growth that we take out of the game,” Hardwick said of the loss to Brisbane.
“A lot of things that we did tonight were areas that we can certainly improve.
“We’ll go to school on that and there’s a couple of things that we’ll take out of the game that will certainly get us better for next week’s opponent.
“We don’t really care who we play, we’re just looking forward to getting back out and playing a hell of a lot better than we did tonight.”

The Richmond captain praised the Saints, who defeated the Western Bulldogs to set up the clash with the Tigers, and also singled out former teammate Dan Butler.
The forward has had a brilliant 2020 for the Saints after being squeezed out at Richmond.
"From an individual point of view I am so wrapt for him but also so proud of him," Cotchins said.
"I don't think he ever really wanted to leave the footy club but to get an opportunity elsewhere and perform in the way he has this year has been exceptional to watch.
"I have no doubt that he's brought energy and vibrancy to the Saints.
"Last year was a challenging year for him and you know he is still somewhat a Richmond man in my eyes, but I am looking forward to clashing heads with him on Friday night."

Form guide: all you need to know about the AFL semi-finals
By Daniel Cherny and Anthony Colangelo
The Age
October 4, 2020 — 5.40pm
Richmond v St Kilda, Friday night, Metricon Stadium
WHY THEY'RE HERE
Richmond have been subjected to their first semi-final since 2001 after an upset loss at the hands of the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Friday night. Richmond had a lot of players down on their best, in particular star defender Dylan Grimes, who had his colours lowered to Lions goalsneak Charlie Cameron.
St Kilda won a final for the first time in a decade by staving off the fast-finishing Western Bulldogs at the same venue on Saturday. The Saints dominated the aerial battle as their talls starred across the ground. There is room for improvement, though, with many of St Kilda's midfielders – including All-Australian Jack Steele – relatively subdued.
HOW THEY MATCH UP
These sides last met in late June, in a freewheeling game under the roof at Marvel Stadium. On that occasion, St Kilda's slick ball movement cut through the Tigers. The Saints' small forwards were on song, with St Kilda getting seven majors combined from Dean Kent, Jack Lonie and ex-Tiger Dan Butler who was arguably best afield. Dustin Martin was subdued, while Jack Riewoldt finished with 1.3. Remarkably this was Saints coach Brett Ratten's seventh straight win against Richmond counterpart Damien Hardwick, following a 6-0 scoreline when Ratten was at the helm of Carlton.

I see playing as a bonus due to a few players currently being 'underdone' - that being said, changes for me being:
In
Markov
Lynch
Out
Chol
Aarts
Markov to HBF
Baker to HFF
I would also consider Caddy for Castagna. Bolton to play more minutes as a mid and push Edwards to the other HFF position.
Short Astbury Grimes
Markov Balta Vlastuin
McIntosh Prestia Pickett
Edwards Riewoldt Baker
Rioli Martin Lynch
Nankervis Graham Cotchin
Lambert Bolton Houli Castagna/Caddy

Ryder ( who we should have drafted IMO) is out as well.
Dan Butler may bite us in the buttock region
-
Few, if any, people Dan Butler left behind at Richmond would begrudge the small forward his excellent AFL form this year.
"He was a big loss from a club point of view," Tigers forward Jason Castagna told AAP, having been part of the selection squeeze that forced his former housemate out the door.
"He was a great guy and I was pretty close with him as well.
"It was sad to see him go but I'm also very happy for him that he's gone there and he's played so well.
"He's playing the footy that a lot of us knew he could play."

"Did they miss a trick by not playing this at the Adelaide Oval?"
@kanecornes asks whether Richmond should have nominated the Adelaide Oval to host its final this weekend against St Kilda.

Cornes said Richmond should have chosen to play the Semi Final at Adelaide Oval to get use to playing there before the Prelim. Stay the whole week in between too to train there. Caro said that would've been an arrogant message to St Kilda that Richmond has dismissed them and is already focusing on the Prelim. Cornes replied that St Kilda has won 2 and lost 10 at Adelaide Oval. Caro counted that the Saints won both their games at Adelaide Oval this year including against Port while Richmond lost to Port there. Metricon makes more sense given it is only 100m away from where Richmond are staying.

Craig McRae's preview:
St Kilda match-up
“They had our measure early in the year and we have grown a fair bit from that game, and they have the same. They have got a lot of threats and unfortunately have got a couple of injuries, but I am sure they will get some players back in who will play pivotal roles for them.
“We are certainly going to have to be near the top of our game to stretch them.”
St Kilda’s aerial power
“Their aerial power is a strength of theirs and one of our great strengths is getting the ball to ground. We did that on the weekend, but I think we have got some RFIs (Room for Improvements) in terms of ground level support and I have already addressed that with some of our smalls this week. Hopefully, we get a spike in that area.”
Saints ability to get 'walk-in' goals
“Yeah ‘Butts’ (Dan Butler) has had a great year for them and they attack the goal-front really well, and back the contest in. They get a lot of goals from the goal square or around that area like you said. (It is usually) running into an open goal or getting a crumb off, so our aerial power is going to need to be strong, but that ground level support to back it up at both ends is going to be really important.”

Rowan Marshall for mine. We're fortunate Ryder is out but Ryder didn't play against us earlier in the season either and Marshall still was the dominant big man on the ground against Nank (Soldo didn't play in that game either).

MEGA-PREVIEW: Tigers v Saints, stats that matter, who wins and why
St Kilda has a good record against Richmond, will there be another surprise?
By Riley Beveridge
afl.com.au
7 October 2020
SUMMARY
St Kilda celebrated its return to the finals with a thrilling victory over the Western Bulldogs last week. Its reward? A semi-final against a side who has won two of the last three premierships, where it will be missing experienced duo Paddy Ryder and Jake Carlisle. The Saints, and Brett Ratten in particular, have a good recent record against the Tigers. Ratten has won 10 of 11 games against Richmond in his coaching career, but victory at Metricon Stadium on Friday night would undoubtedly top all of them. Still, if this season has taught us anything, it's to expect the unexpected. Maybe there's a 'Miracle at Metricon' in the works.
WHERE AND WHEN: Metricon Stadium, Friday 9 October, 7.50pm AEDT
WHAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR?
Round four: St Kilda 15.3 (93) defeated Richmond 10.7 (67)
The most significant aspect of St Kilda's victory over Richmond earlier in the season was the control it had over the entire contest. The Saints led at every change in a mature performance, having the measure over the Tigers in most areas of the field. Dan Butler tormented his former side to kick three goals from 14 disposals, while Tim Membrey (seven marks, three goals) and Jack Steele (21 disposals, 10 tackles) were also among the best.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Richmond
Will the return of Tom Lynch solve Richmond's issues going inside 50? Throughout the season, the Tigers ranked No.1 in the League for marks inside the forward arc – averaging 10.3 per game. However, in last week's defeat to Brisbane, the reigning premiers took less than half that amount – ranked seventh of the eighth sides playing finals. Richmond needs a reliable option inside 50 to maximise its scoring opportunities. Lynch should be that man.
St Kilda
Can the Saints cope without two of their best three performers from last week? According to Champion Data's AFL Player Ratings, Paddy Ryder (24.7 points) and Jake Carlisle (12.9) ranked first and third respectively during last week's narrow elimination final victory over the Western Bulldogs. Young gun Rowan Marshall will now have to shoulder the bulk of the ruck load without Ryder, while Carlisle missing could leave the side undersized down back.
WHAT THE STATS SAY
St Kilda scored 15 goals from 38 inside 50s when these sides last played, with its conversion rate of 39.5 percent equating to the club's best return on the season.
Richmond conceded 55 points from turnovers and 38 points from stoppages when it last played St Kilda, its second-worst differentials in both categories on the entire season.
Dustin Martin is the key man. In his nine finals since the start of 2017, his AFL Player Ratings average of 19.2 points is the best of any Richmond player throughout that period.
There could be a lot of stress placed on the Saints backline. Richmond ranks No.1 for time in forward-half differential this season. Meanwhile, St Kilda had a time in forward-half differential of -15.38 minutes last week – the worst of all eight teams playing in the finals.
There's no wonder Richmond wanted this game at Metricon Stadium. The Tigers have won their last nine games in Gold Coast, with an average winning margin of 46 points. St Kilda also boasts a relatively good record at the venue and is 2-1 there this year.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR …
Richmond - Toby Nankervis.
On paper, one of few Richmond deficiencies can be found in the ruck. But while dual premiership big man Nankervis has played only eight games this year, he enjoyed the best of them back in round four against St Kilda. Making his return to the side – and rucking solo on that occasion – Nankervis had 17 disposals, 26 hitouts, seven tackles and a goal. He was one of Richmond's most important performers, getting the better of youngster Rowan Marshall. Doing similar on Friday night will go a long way to helping his midfielders.
St Kilda - Dan Butler.
This is a man with a few things to prove. In his first game against his former side, where he was part of their premiership team back in 2017, Butler had 14 disposals and three goals to torch the Tigers. Now, he can do it on the biggest stage of all. Butler was restricted to just 22 games in his final two seasons with Richmond and left for more opportunities. He can continue to prove he was worthy of those chances if he again fires in the semi-final. It would cap a year where he also made the 40-man All-Australian squad.
PREDICTION:
Richmond by 20 points.
You can't keep a good team down for long and the Tigers have proved over the last four seasons that they are a very, very good team.

Ross Lyon & Matthew Lloyd's preview of the 2nd Semi Final: Richmond vs St Kilda
Brisbane took Richmond's defenders out of their comfort zones last weekend, which exposed a weakness in the Tigers' armour.
Ross Lyon and Matthew Lloyd analyse how St Kilda can do the same.
Watch here: https://twitter.com/FootyonNine/status/1313801494714490880
Score from Defensive 50:
St Kilda +32 pts (vs Bulldogs)
Richmond + 9 pts (2020 average)
Saints' one wood = Quick outside game.
Richmond will need to turn the match into a bit of a grind.
Defensive intercept marks:
Richmond average 5 intercept marks per game in 2020 but against Brisbane the Tigers had ZERO intercept marks.
Cameron and Hipwood came up the ground dragging Richmond defenders with them which prevented them from getting back into D50 to intercept mark. Opposition sides will now look at this although it isn't as easy to do as it sounds.
Richmond's forward line match-ups this week:
Lynch - Howard
Riewoldt - Wilkie
Castagna - Coffield
Rioli - Patton
Lambert - Geary
Caddy - Savage
Savage coming in will give the Saints offensive run off half-back.
Saints will need to intercept mark as they did against the Bulldogs although it's harder to do against Lynch and Riewoldt as opposed to the shorter Bulldogs forward line.
Odds: (PointsBet)
Richmond $1.30
St Kilda $3.70
Both Lyon and Lloyd are tipping us to win. Lloyd said he believes the Tigers will win this one "comfortably".
-
Richmond’s semi-final planning has drilled into the importance of limiting St Kilda’s uncontested marks. When the speedy Saints control the ball by foot they are hard to stop, and they kicked a season-best 32pts from D50 last week. Suspect the Tigers wouldn’t mind a dewy night.
https://twitter.com/SamLandsberger/status/1313969970938671104

Would think we would prefer a drier night to exploit the Saints with our height up forward. One of the reasons IMO we chose to play this final at Metricon rather than the Gabba.

Finals questions: Richmond v St Kilda
Daniel Cherny
The Age
October 8, 2020 — 3.01pm
IS METRICON A TIGER PARADISE?
Richmond got their wish when the AFL allowed them to host this semi-final at Metricon Stadium. It was an intriguing decision from the Tigers, who are staying just down the road from the Gold Coast venue, given Richmond also have a strong record at the Gabba. More to the point, the Gabba is where the grand final will be held. But there is no doubt the Tigers play Carrara very well. They have won all six of their matches at the venue this season, the closest of which was a 26-point victory over Geelong. The Saints have only played three matches on the Gold Coast this season, overrun by Fremantle in round six before wins over the Suns and Hawthorn. It will also be interesting to see whether the two sides can draw anything near a sellout crowd.
WILL LYNCH BE RUSTY?
By the time Friday night rolls around it will have been four weeks since Tom Lynch's last AFL match. That night against Geelong he suffered a hamstring injury. It was hoped he would only miss one game, but the Tigers took a conservative approach with their star key forward, meaning he sat out the qualifying final loss to Brisbane. Richmond's forward line didn't function as well as the Tigers wanted against the Lions. Lynch had another injury scare this week with his troublesome finger, but has been cleared to take on the Saints, ironically at the venue he called home for eight years. He has proven himself to be a finals match-winner, and the Saints' tall defensive stocks are depleted by the absence of Jake Carlisle who has left their hub for the birth of his third child.
HOW MUCH WILL THE SAINTS MISS RYDER?
It was heartbreaking to see Paddy Ryder's reaction on the final siren last Saturday against the Western Bulldogs. Head buried in a towel, Ryder was left in tears after suffering a serious hamstring tendon injury in the dying stages of his team's elimination final victory, the first winning final the veteran big man had played in. Not only was this the opposite of a fairytale, it is also a huge loss for St Kilda, as Ryder was close to if not best afield against the Dogs. In the form he was in, he would have been able to exploit Richmond's lion-hearted but workmanlike ruckman Toby Nankervis. As it turns out, both sides will go in missing a best 22 ruckman, given the Tigers are without the injured Ivan Soldo. Rowan Marshall is now poised to play much more time in the middle. Marshall is a very good young ruckman, but has also been impressing up forward. His redeployment could throw the Saints off balance.
CAN HANNEBERY BACK UP TWO WEEKS IN A ROW?
After a horror first season at St Kilda, and then another injury-interrupted campaign this year, Dan Hannebery has finally got going for the Saints, and not before time. His timing is pretty good too. Back ahead of schedule in the final round of the season against Greater Western Sydney, Hannebery was a solid contributor, but he stepped things up a notch against the Bulldogs. The former Sydney star issued a reminder of why he was once among the best midfielders in the competition, with his hard-running helping him to19 disposals and a game-high five inside 50s. It's hard to have too much faith in Hannebery's body, but if he can replicate that form again it will go a long way to securing the Saints an upset victory.
WILL HILL PROVE HIS WORTH?
St Kilda's recruiting spree 12 months ago has undeniably reaped dividends so far. Dan Butler has exceeded even the club's wildest expectations with a season which had him on the cusp of All-Australian selection. While his season is now over, Ryder has worked brilliantly in combination with Marshall. Dougal Howard was outstanding in defence against the Dogs and has been pretty good all year. Zak Jones has been a consistent contributor. The missing link is Bradley Hill. The former Hawk and Docker was the Saints' most expensive acquisition but while he's teased at times, his form has been middling. It was telling that against West Coast in round 17, the Eagles' high-priced recruit Tim Kelly hauled his side over the line, while Hill sprayed an important shot when the game was there for the taking. Reputations are earned in finals, and Hill has a chance to put a year of patchy footy behind him with a starring performance on Friday night.
Prediction: Richmond by 30 points

How do St Kilda take down Richmond? Five match-ups will prove vital
October 9, 2020 2:23pm
by DAVID ZITA
Source: FOX SPORTS
St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt has listed the ideal match ups his former side should look for against Richmond as they look for the most unlikely of wins on Friday night.
The Saints will enter the semi-final at Metricon Stadium with three of last week’s players forced out, including star Paddy Ryder (hamstring) and veteran Jake Carlisle (family reasons).
Looking back on Brisbane’s upset win over the Tigers, which broke an 11-year losing streak, Melbourne forward great Garry Lyon pointed to one statistic at the heart of the Lions’ triumph and potentially the key to St Kilda’s chances.
For the first time since 2014, Richmond were unable to take an intercept mark in their defensive 50. The ability of Dylan Grimes, Alex Rance before him and the Tigers defence as a whole to hang back off the ball has been at the centre of countless intercepts and a vital part of their premiership success.
How did Brisbane dismantle the Tigers? It was quite simple, according to Lyon.
“(Jarrod) Berry was making sure when he was resting forward off the ball that he went to Vlastuin and made it a deadset one-on-one contest and marked the footy on him,” he said during On The Couch.
“You ask why Richmond didn’t take any intercepts - Brisbane played on them. Rayner on occasions had Grimes, he gritted his teeth and said I don’t care what’s happening, you’re not marking the footy.
Butler has nothing to proveButler has nothing to prove2:15
“Sometimes the most simplistic part of this game is the most beautiful. If you can say to someone like Berry who’s a competitor go to Vlastuin or Grimes and don’t get beaten, it’s simple enough. You walk off the ground and for the first time since 2014 they didn’t take an intercept mark.”
With that in mind, Riewoldt listed the ideal defensive matchups to keep the Tigers accountable, making a near-impossible task for the Saints just that little bit more realistic.
NICK RIEWOLDT’S ST KILDA FORWARD LINE MATCHUPS:
MAX KING v DAVID ASTBURY
“I think King to Astbury, he has troubled some of the best defenders this year with his mobility.”
TIM MEMBREY v NOAH BALTA
JOSH BATTLE v DYLAN GRIMES
“Did the job on Haynes when they played GWS, if he gets up you expect him to go to Grimes.”
JARRYN GEARY v NICK VLASTUIN
“He’s a player that thrives on a role, he did it on Daniel. Vlastuin is a different proposition byt the principle is still the same, try and take away their intercepts.”
DAN BUTLER v JAYDEN SHORT
JACK LONIE v BACHAR HOULI

Fox Footy's Semi Final preview
October 9, 2020 3:10pm
MAX LAUGHTON
FOX SPORTS
How do the Tigers win?
Getting their marking game going, at both ends of the ground, will be absolutely critical for Damien Hardwick.
The Tigers “failed for the first time this year” against the Lions, failing to record a single intercept mark for the first time since 2014, while they only had five marks in their forward 50.
The latter was heavily impacted by Tom Lynch being absent (leaving Jack Riewoldt as the main target), and Harris Andrews being able to leave Mabior Chol to double-team Riewoldt.
This time the script is flipped, with the Tigers gaining Lynch for this game while the Saints lose one of their key defenders in Jake Carlisle.
“They looked lost going inside forward 50. I’m not sure whether that’s target-related or selection coming in, because they had some poor contributors that didn’t have great nights,” David King said on Fox Footy.
“Lynch coming back in just gives Jack so much support. Jack only took two marks inside 50, they (the Lions) knew where it was going and they could double-team him.
“The reverse happens this week. Lynch goes in, he takes two rather than Jack taking two, and then you have the luxury of (Dustin) Martin rolling forward.”
Martin will be crucial as well, needing to find the form up forward he hasn’t quite had this season.
After ranking first, first and second in the AFL for score involvements in 2017-19, the dual Norm Smith medallist ranks 14th in 2020. That’s still great, but not as game-breaking.
How do the Saints win?
St Kilda has a clear stoppage advantage over Richmond, ranking second in the AFL for clearances (Tigers 16th) and sixth for scoring from stoppages (Tigers 14th).
However the Tigers defend stoppages well, partially thanks to being a dominant intercept team. Yet when the latter is negated, so is the former.
Against Brisbane, the premiers didn’t take a single intercept mark in their defensive 50, thanks to Brisbane’s use of one of their wingmen.
Usually the Tigers send one winger back, giving them an extra man in defence and freeing up an intercept marker, while the opponent keeps their winger at the stoppage. The problem then is getting the ball forward just sends it into the Tigers' trap.
“Richmond always want to have an extra defender - they want to get a plus-one, so they use their winger,” Leigh Montagna said on Fox Footy.
“That’s Marlion Pickett as the corridor winger. He wants to come back and play as an extra to free up a Grimes or a Vlastuin to intercept.
“Brisbane went wing-on-wing, so that’s Brisbane’s winger essentially playing as a forward ... it means they can’t get their intercept game going.
“It takes away Richmond's greatest strength. Not only do they get that plus-one to intercept mark, but then it starts their rebound. It gives confidence for Bachar Houli, Jayden Short and Liam Baker to get on their bike and get to the open side.”
If the Saints do even up the numbers in their forward 50, they have two possible positive outcomes.
They can either rely on Max King and his teammates taking intercept marks - their 21 against the Bulldogs were the most by any team this year - or King getting the ball to ground for small forwards like Dan Butler to score.

Need to be switched on and not let saints get there game going.Take our chances and we need better skills and pressure and tackling from collective all around the ground a must.A few need to lift. Our forward entry's need to improve big time.Make it a contested game saints don't like it.
-
Agree georgie. All about pressure and denying them space especially from our small & half forwards plus midfield. Need to nullify Marshall so a big game from Nank needed.
Also we need to not waste our inside F50s.
-
Steeley faces during the anthem tonight. Hopefully a sign we're more focused.
-
Lynch goal straight out the middle.

Really poor there had momentum.Few of seniors costly errors.

Worst 30 seconds since the Gold Coast game
-
No goal review for potential after the siren goals. I’d think that would be the easiest decisions to make via replay.
-

Don't thinking can be used for that unless requested
-
Think we may have found our 2nd ruckman ;D
Would prefer to see Balta with that role as he is much better when the ball hits the ground but using our extra tall defender is the right play imho.
-
Wakey, wakey
-
Nank :facepalm
-
Stupid by Nank
Concede the point for gods sake

Geez Nank, 2 monumental mistakes. Spoil it over the line you muppet!

It's like a different team. Get back to it Tigers
-
Slack. No pressure. 20m off our man :banghead.
-
How can we drop off the pace so fast. Compete, man up, do something. How can we be so slow to react at the moment.
-
Benny Hill music.
-
I don't want anyone saying Pickett is hard again
-
That kick by Edwards to Houli was easily 15 meters...

Finally someone doesn't stuff up. Sheds goal.

Another soft brainfade in defence. Very lucky Floss.
If you watch the footage I don’t think the ball was 100% over the line IMHO
-
Cut the stupid mistakes school boy stuff keep it simple :banghead
-
Dunno what's doing my head in more - Marlion Pickett playing park footy or Daisy Peircing-Voice's useless interjections...... :facepalm
-
What a bizarre qtr. 80% was crap but we still kicked 4 goals to their one because the 20% good was very good. Kicking straight makes a big difference. The number of brainfades & schoolboy mistakes though is doing my head in. Dish this up against Port and we'll get flogged.
-
Cut the stupid mistakes school boy stuff keep it simple :banghead
I thought the same thing.
I also thought the commentary all but accused Floss of cheating when I never saw any evidence to indicate he missed it.
-
Clearly scraped the knuckle of his pinky finger.....:shh
-
Going well. St kilda living up to their historical dna.
-
Castagna status report: Still shyte. :thumbsdown
-
New quarter and again Cotchin gives away a stupid free :banghead
-
Geez we've done some dumb stuff tonight.
-
How was Battle allowed to mark that :banghead
Another bullet dodged
-
Clueless umps.
-
So stupid by Lynch :banghead
Bullet number 3 dodged
-
Now that was undisciplined by Lynch.
-
Seriously, these umps are inventing stuff to hammer us on. That deliberate against Broad was farcical.
-
These umps have lost control of the game.
-
Umps disgraceful.
Broad
The trip??
-
And just like that we let them back in
This like the start of the 2nd
-
:banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Worst quarter of the year.
-
KMac tackled without the ball on their goal line... Play on!
-
How many times have we failed to spoil and allowed it out the back this finals series :banghead.
-
Gee we needed that
-
Terrific by Lynch
-
Finally! Prestia goal.
62 - 34
-
HTB?
-
Cotchin :banghead
No point on arguing
Correct call, he put the ball on the ground
-
:scream
:banghead
-
And they pay the same HTB to them in their forward line :rolleyes.
-
This is painful to watch
-
HTB?
Yep
The skipper is having a shoxker
-
Bachar & Pickett out next. Pathetic.
That's if there is a next week
-
We are terrible, it’s not even the Saints direct pressure, we are slow and selfish running into trouble and ignoring the simple and easy option.
-
We need a goal
-
HTB against saints in our f50 WP before that. Not paid to Lynch.
-
Lynch good mark. Misses though.
-
HTB against saints in our f50 WP before that. Not paid to Lynch.
That one, yes should have been
-
Poor qtr
We kick 1.3
They kicked 2.5
They kick straight and we're stuffed
-
They're saying it's a slippery surface yet I swear I've only seen our blokes fall over so far... :shh
-
64 - 41 at 3/4 time.
a game that combines our brainfades with clueless umpiring.
-
Where’s our pressure?
Why aren’t we doing our thing?
It’s mindboggling and very very frustrating to watch :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Bachar & Pickett out next. Pathetic.
That's if there is a next week
Houli's cooked....Pickett looks like his head's already back in Freo.. :shh
-
Need a rocket keeping them in it to cute and just stop doing the basics again lazy at times.
-
As the commentators go after Lynch again :banghead
-
Pickett needs to go.
-
That was pathetic
Disgraceful
You name it
I rarely swear but effen hell
-
Fumble fumble :banghead
-
:facepalm
-
Stick a stuff in us, we’re done!
It will only be the clock that saves us today.
-
If we don’t lift we will lose
-
:cheers
George
GOALS
Edwards pure brilliance
-
Bad signs not switched on we're our leaders calming things down dumb footy.

Badly needed poise by Sheds. George goal.

:wavetowel
-
Lynch copped high. Miss. That's 2.4 to Tom.
78 - 48
-
Junk time.
-
Lynch blocked. Misses again. 2.5 + ootf. Been a top game otherwise.
-
Dish that crap up against Port and they'll smash us by 10 goals plus... :shh
-
We did what was needed but can't have so many brainfades against Port next week.
-
Dream still alive
Need to be switched on for the full 4 quarters next week
-
:gobdrop
We won the free kick count 19 to 15
-
60% tonight.
Will bring it harder next week I'm sure.
-
Need a 20% lift next week. If we play like this next week we are in bug trouble.
-
Let’s hope the QLD police can find Jack before next weeks flight to Adelaide. Hard to win when you’re running one short up forward.
-
Let’s hope the QLD police can find Jack before next weeks flight to Adelaide. Hard to win when you’re running one short up forward.
Jack was very good tonight. Great team game
Not about possessions or goals
Created space for Lynch, tackled hard.
-
Dunno what's doing my head in more - Marlion Pickett playing park footy or Daisy Peircing-Voice's useless interjections...... :facepalm
Brayshaw even more annoying...
-
Take the win. The commentary was disgusting tonight, made me sick how obvious it was they were gunning for a Saints victory...
Houli does my head in- the worst 30 odd possession game i have ever seen!
Nank was huge
Edwards was huge
Lynch was huge
Bring on next Friday :gotigers
-
Can someone tell the media bad goalkicking is a skill error and bad footy. Not an excuse for our opposition when we beat them.
-
Lynch would have been best on if he jagged more goals but his presence was a real force in the forward line. Having him and jack goes a long way In stretching The opposition defence.
I though Edwards was a real class act and dusty did what needed to be done without going into full beast mode

Think you will find Benny also mentioned Dimma' s record of 250 games as well :shh
-
I thought Nank was very good against Marshall did a good job just needs to cut a few errors.
-
Ratten just said it was a reverse of scoring trends from both sides tonight.
We kicked 8.4-52 from stoppages to their 1.3-9. From centre clearances we kicked 4.2-26. We are typically 16th in the comp. for stoppages scores.
Oddly they did better than us from turnovers which is usually our strength.
Ratten saw it as a bonus for us to now know we can add stoppage scoring to our normal turnover scoring gamestyle.
-
Great games from Lynch, Sheds, Nank with bolts and dusty rounding out our top5 I reckon.
Very sloppy and fumbly overall but the win is all that matters.

What the experts said
Dermott Brereton on Fox Footy: “They didn’t totally control this game, yet they won handsomely, and they won in a fashion we’re not totally used to seeing.
“They find ways to win. They find ways to overcome. The system that they use, if one isn’t working, they’re capable of going to the next one, and tonight the next one was winning the ball at the stoppage and scoring from centre bounces.”
Jonathan Brown on Fox Footy: “It’s almost like they said going into the game, let’s stop mucking around with the amount of people going through centre bounces. Martin, Edwards, Prestia, Cotchin. There you go boys, get the job done.”
