Can't wait to hear and read his response to last night. Suck eggs Kane. Does anyone think Ladhams will be free to play next week? Oh :rollin
Please add any Kane Cornes comments for us all to have a laugh at.
-
Already in SEN claiming the deliberate out of bounds rule is a joke....
If Hartletts Wasn’t deliberate it had to be a throw surly :lol
-
Saw a SEN tweet which said Kane gave a whack to Port for not tagging Dusty
Tweet finishes with Kane saying not tagging Dusty "drives him insane"
Kane, your rants suggest you are already insane
-
Ignore him.
He’s a flog

So 40m kicks down the line are deliberate but a throw from 2m away facing the boundary isn’t? Stuffen idiots SEN

Kane Cornes isn’t happy with the lack of attention his former club paid towards Dustin Martin in their Preliminary Final loss to Richmond on Friday night.
“(Dustin Marin) is as good of a finals performer as we’ve ever seen,” Cornes said on SEN’s Crunch Time.
“I heard the captain of Port Adelaide (Tom Jonas) asked during the week about what they’re going to do with Dustin Martin, he said that ‘we’re going to back our structure in as it has worked for us all year’.
“(Not tagging Martin) didn’t work on Friday night because he had seven possessions in the first five minutes and almost took the game away from Port Adelaide right there.
“Why don’t you set someone to him? I’ve seen (GWS Giants tagger) Matt De Boer do it, he’s not untaggable. No one wants to put the time and preparation in and take responsibility.
“It’s not easy to sacrifice your game and play on a great player, it takes a lot of preparation physically and mentally, yes he’ll play some games where he goes forward and change it up but no one set themselves for Dustin Martin last night.
“To look up and see Darcy Byrne-Jones in a one versus one (contest) inside 50, is that the match up you want? You’ve had two weeks to prepare for that matchup – Byrne-Jones who weighs 77 kilograms against Martin, who is the best finals players I’ve ever seen.
“You get what you deserve because they didn’t put any time into Dustin Martin.”

Prediction:
Tomorrow, Cornes sooks and blames the pre-finals bye and Port (& Brisbane) playing one game in 25 days for losing the Prelim #VicBias.
-
Ahhh Kane Cornes, As fine a vintage of bitter tears as you can find, top shelf. Fill er up, hold the ice.

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley baked by Kane Cornes over Dusty prelim final match-up
By Tim Elbra
Nine
18 October 2020
"'We'll back our own systems in' ... If I hear that one more time against Dustin Martin, I'm actually going to explode," Cornes said on The Sunday Footy Show.
"You've got two weeks to come up with a match-up for Dustin Martin and the best you could give me was Darcy Byrne-Jones? He weighs 77kg and he's on Dustin Martin? What is going on?
"That is the greatest finals player we have ever seen and you're letting him run around and do whatever he wants in a prelim final. In a game that is won by six goals, you get that.
"That's a rag doll, that 77kg, that's the best match-up you could come up with in two weeks. And unfortunately for Ken, it's probably - maybe - cost him a premiership."

Fair enough too I thought it was a bad match up haha.
Should have tagged Dusty with a proper hard man in the midfield and then played KPD on him when forward.
But that comes from years of me watching him do his thing :D
-
Cornes is still whinging about the Hartlett deliberate OOB free.

Right there is where we see the value of having Jack (& Tom) in the side. Now when Dusty goes forward the only defender left to pick him up is a 77kg weakling with boney girl arms! :snidegrin
-
3 days later and Cornes on Footy Classified is still sooking about Dusty not being tagged lol.

Isn’t he an All Australian defender?
-
Cornes thinks it would be good if Port could get Rance & play him in the last 8 weeks of a season.
-
Caro had a dig at Cornes previously sooking about us and the number of MCG games when we've won games interstate & made the GF again despite over 100 days in the hub.
Cornes replied he never said Richmond weren't a great side but stuck to saying all those MCG games in a usual season is a massive free kick ::)
-
Has he bagged Port for their massive free kick?

THE ONE QUESTION EVERY AFL TEAM MUST ANSWER THIS OFF-SEASON

Richmond - How do they stay hungry?
Back-to-back premierships are extremely rare for a reason, let alone three in three (sic) years. How does the club keep a group that has achieved so much motivated for more?

Basically copied this year's flag/finals campaign.

I like him. He often says something controversial but he backs it up and often it's right. Why wouldnt you tag dusty? Why wasn't Dangerfield suspended does he have no duty of care but others do? He's the new Caro just not feminist. Poking holes in the veneer of AFL group think.

I agree.
He likes to raise a ruckus on purpose but unlike all the others he will admit when he gets it wrong.
He also barracks for his former team and doesn’t apologise for it and fair enough too. Better that then an over correction the other way when commentating on the team you played for.
He also will give them a clip when they need one as with the Martin tagging issue in the PF.
He also makes me laugh when he stirs the pot and supporters fall for it hook line and sinker just like KB did with the blues supporters. Hilarious when people get riled up.
-
The best thing Kornes did was his dig at Dangerfield when during a mad Monday he tweeted to Dangerfield he’s missing a premiership medal.
But beyond that the guy is a tool. He deliberately trolls everyone is purely antagonistic for click bait reasons. He adds nothing constructive to the fabric of football commentary. Give me Dylan Buckley with his dyl and friends podcast any day because at least they bring a humanity to the world of AFL as opposed to cornes who just says “xxxxx is a disgrace” Every week

Richmond: Underachieved
“Premiers to potentially missing the eight.”
“Enough said about Richmond. They have underachieved.”

Well thank you captain obvious. The simpleton of course ignores that we've been decimated by injuries to too many of our best players all year as the reason ::).

Parody account .
…has questioned the Australian Open’s fixture after Ash Barty’s tournament win last night “She (Barty) played all of her games on her home ground. That’s an easy run with no travel. Not one away game, not even at Marvel. She’s had it pretty easy.”

Cornes: “There’s a lot of teams that get shafted when it comes to fixturing at the MCG. That’s why the competition is never fair, Richmond can have 13 games at the MCG, and it’s just accepted and surprise surprise they have a massive advantage.
“It’s just the way it is. I played for a club at Port Adelaide, and we cried out for more games at the MCG and could never get it.
“It’s just been accepted that Richmond and Collingwood get this free kick by having that many games at the MCG and other clubs get shafted like Freo.”

What poor old Kane always neglects to mention is his side got 12 games a year at their home ground
Including 11 homes games at their home ground
We only ever play 10 home games at our home ground a season
He also conveniently forgets that of Vic based clubs we usually do the most interstate travel.
I'm also not sure why he cannot get his head around the fact that the MCG is the home ground of a number of Clubs and we have to play them as the away team at their home ground
Cry me a river :nopity

I’m probably in the minority but I like Cornes.
He is topical and adds his own opinions with added spice to trigger all one eyed ferals from all clubs. I bet you ask any mate that supports another club what do you think of Cornes they’d all say the same thing.
He is good at stirring the pot but he’s one of the only ones that will admit when he’s wrong too.
And now he has his own thread here too. Legend. :clapping :rollin

People that say things only to spark a reaction and to get attention are the opposite of legends. The dudes a shock jock of the highest order. What point is he trying to make here. If our home ground is the MCG shouldn’t that mean we would automatically get 11 games there. Then you add in the away games we play against teams who also call the MCG home and I just don’t understand what he wants to happen. Should we play home games in Adelaide and port play home games at the G? I’m sure when they start seeing they don’t get freebie wins from the mere fact they’re playing at AO that they’ll quickly change their mind.
Interstate supporters loved to complain about vic teams getting an advantage from the grand final being at the MCG yet last year there were no finals in VIC and the grand final was contested by 2 VIC clubs. The year before again no finals in VIC and yup you guessed it, the grand final was contested by 2 VIC clubs. The best teams will win regardless of what ground they play at. The eagles have done it regularly, the crows did it in the late 90s and the lions dominated in the early 2000s.
-
Tom Lynch misses one game and Cornes last night use it to drag up his old comments about Jack Riewoldt, his age and whether Jack should leave Richmond :facepalm.

Well it's true isn't it?
Older players are in great form, even though I hate them, guys like Hawkins are still playing AA footy.
Pick 7 in the draft etc.
They have managed themselves very well, or found a way to cheat the TPP. Probably the former.
-
Probably a fair call this time around
-
Every year the Premier team looks like the team to beat. Same same for Melbourne at the start of last year.
Geesook will cop some injuries and the Premiership back to back hopes will be dead and buried by mid-year.

I didn't feel the same about Dogs '16 or Eagles '18. Think they just had a good run at the time, bit of luck fell their way.
Also felt the same way about us in '17 to be completely honest but history proved me wrong or maybe I was just anxious.
Only clubs in recent memory I've thought would be tough to beat the next year are Tigers '19, Dees, Cats, otherwise probably going back to Hawks 3-peat.

What do you expect always sits on the fence with his club Port never says it how it is no balls to.
-
Kornes was after Brisbane for signing Hipwood to a 6 year contract. Can't say I disagree with him.
He did however stress the long term was bad and was expecting him to bring up Taranto and Hopper contracts as an example. However let us off for once.

There'd be back-to-back prelim finals in 2020 and 2021, and only a dodgy, deliberate out-of-bounds umpiring decision and a red-hot Dustin Martin stopped Port Adelaide from progressing to the 2020 Grand Final.

IF ...
Dimma last weekend accused Kane Cornes of saying things purely for clicks ...
THEN ...
in that very moment he was doing exactly that himself. Don’t for a minute think he was doing anything other than deliberately diverting attention from his very ordinarily performing team. Really struggled against the West Coast Witches Hats until midway through the third quarter, have won just two matches.

Kane Cornes’ BIGGEST 2017 AFL predictions
By Tim Ashdown 21 December 2016
https://www.fiveaa.com.au/sport/kane-cornes-biggest-2017-afl-predictions/
Richmond
“The most scrutinised team in the competition was again disappointing in 2016, winning only eight games. Under-fire coach Damien Hardwick needs a finals berth to save his job at the Tigers…
“Richmond will find it difficult to find multiple avenues towards goal next year and the lack of stars coming through is a concern.”
Didn't even have Adelaide in the hot teams. Bulldogs have the most depth in the comp despite finishing 10th (on the back of a few injuries lol). GWS best team in the comp and Deledio finshes them off.
You couldn't get so much wrong if you tried. How is this guy still relevant. Absolutely no credibility and clearly knows nothing about the game.

London to a brick Prestia will go down again at some point, but we appear to have more midfield depth with Dow & Sonsie looking like they've stepped up and at least an upgrade on 2023 Cotch & if McAuliffe lives up to the hype... Grimes going down would frankly be a blessing in disguise at this point - likewise Nank now we have Naismith....Lynch obviously important but at least it won't just be left to a cooked Riewoldt this year if he doesn't come up.....and Bolton can probably cover current day Dusty... :shh
