5 June 2021 6:00pm
The Round 14 West Coast Eagles vs. Richmond match – currently fixtured for 6:10pm AWST (8:10pm AEST) on Thursday June 17 at Optus Stadium – has been brought forward to Round 13 and will now be played at Optus Stadium at 5:20pm AWST (7:20pm AEST) on Sunday, June 13.
AFL Executive General Manager Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said the AFL made the decision to bring forward the match after close consultation with those involved in the game.
“The decision to bring forward the West Coast Eagles vs. Richmond game was made following close consultation with both clubs, the AFLPA and the Western Australian State Government and is considered the best approach having regard to various border restrictions and associated travel requirements,” Mr Auld said.
“Richmond will return to Sydney after their Dreamtime match before travelling to Perth ahead of their match against the Eagles next Sunday and both teams will now serve their bye in Round 14.
“The priority of the AFL continues to be the safety and wellbeing of the community and we will continue to make the relevant changes to ensure that remains the priority.
“On behalf of the AFL, I would like to thank the WA State Government, both Clubs, players, the AFLPA, umpires, broadcast partners, the venue and all football fans for their understanding as we continue to navigate through the pandemic."
After bringing forward the West Coast Eagles vs. Richmond match, eight clubs will now serve a bye in Round 14 – Adelaide Crows, Collingwood, Fremantle, Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda, Sydney Swans and the West Coast Eagles.
The West Coast Eagles vs. Richmond match will be broadcast live nationally on Seven Network and FOX FOOTY and streamed live via Kayo.
Tickets for this game will go on sale to the General Public at 3:00pm AWST on Wednesday, June 9 via Ticketmaster. Each Club will contact their members directly regarding ticketing arrangements for Club Members.
Arrangements for the remaining games of Round 13 are currently being worked through with final details for each respective match to be communicated in the coming days.

Why return back to Sydney? Wouldn’t it make more sense to just stay in Perth?
-
Why return back to Sydney? Wouldn’t it make more sense to just stay in Perth?
Nope,
Staying in Perth they are confined to their hotel at all times apart from to train and play due to WA border restrictions
In Sydney they can move about as the only restrictions are those of the Victorian lockdown. The NSW governments only restrictions to Victorian's is you must follow the Victorian lockdown rules

West Coast’s forward line is preparing to get a massive boost ahead of Sunday’s match against reigning premiers Richmond with Josh Kennedy and Oscar Allen set to return from injury.
Premiership midfielder Dom Sheed will have scans on his sore right shoulder on Tuesday but Simpson is confident he will play, while Liam Duggan and Jarrod Brander will do their best to prove their fitness during the week.
...
But he knows Richmond will pose a massive challenge after their stunning final quarter against Essendon lifted them to a 39-point win on Saturday night.
“They had 18 of their premiership players playing on the weekend,” Simpson said.
“They’ve got their soldiers back. They’re missing some key players as well but their brand stands up. They seem to thrive on the big stage.
“We’ll have our work cut out for us. We’re really looking forward to it.”

West Coast’s Josh Kennedy says the Eagles remain undecided on whether or not to tag Richmond superstar Dustin Martin at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
The three-time Norm Smith Medallist’s best performances in 2021 have correlated with Tigers’ wins, Martin most recently looking comfortable at Optus with three goals and 27 touches and the most coaches votes against Essendon on Saturday night.
Both sides are locked at seven wins and five losses fighting to keep their respective premiership dreams alive, Kennedy aware of ‘Dusty’s’ big-game performances but believes Elliot Yeo’s third game back from injury can only help West Coast’s options.
“You have players like that you want to shut down but you put so much effort into tagging and they still have 30 touches and have a couple goals,” Kennedy told 6PR.
“So sometimes you just let those players run loose and whoever gets him, whether it’s Yeo or someone else, can do a little more damage. It will be interesting to see what match committee do with him this week.

The Eagles will regain key forward Josh Kennedy and young star Oscar Allen this week, while speedster Jack Petruccelle appears set to miss with a hamstring injury, with Jarrod Brander (adductor) needing to pass a fitness test.
Simpson said Allen's role either forward or in defence would be debated at match committee, as would the two-ruck structure against a Richmond team that has used midfielders as support for Mabior Chol.
With Brad Sheppard missing because of concussion, Simpson said the Eagles' backline would need to work as a group to stop the Tigers' dangerous mix of forwards.
"Their speed at ground level, pressure in the front half, scoring off turnovers, that's all the stuff they've been good at for a long time," he said.
"We can't have one-on-one match-ups, there's not enough players. We're going to have to do it together and take the most dangerous and really work together as a unit to get this done."
Yeo, who is two matches into his return from a long battle with osteitis pubis, is a player who could follow Martin from the midfield and into the Tigers' forward line, according to coach Adam Simpson.
And despite averaging 65 per cent game time in his two matches back, the two-time club champion is physically ready if the Eagles decide they need to lock down on the Tigers' match-winner.
"Absolutely. I think we did it a few years ago with mixed success. But he's the type of player who could do that. It's happened a few times against the Tigers this year, but that's not to say we're going to do it," Simpson said.

Season-defining Sunday as Richmond and West Coast stake their finals claim
Cameron Kellaghan-Tasker
zerohanger.com
June 12, 2021
Many football analysts have claimed that the top-eight is well and truly set. As it stands after Round 12, there is a two game gap between the eighth-placed Tigers and the Bombers in 9th. If the Bombers were somehow able to walk away victors last week, the narrative around the top eight’s stability would be completely different.
The Lead-up
As Richmond often do, they showed that they’re a class above. A dominant final 10 minutes saw the Tigers blow a competitive Bombers outfit out of the water, kicking seven goals straight to run away 39-point winners.
The same went for Sunday’s match between the undermanned Eagles and the underwhelming Blues. The Blues needed to prove themselves worthy of finals contention against the low flying Eagles, who brought a WAFL team on the plane to Sydney.
Again, another opportunity for a bottom 10 side to keep close tabs to those in the eight went begging. A woeful effort from the defenceless Teague didn’t capitalise against the inexperienced Eagles, allowing the boys from Perth to fly back west with the four points.
Despite the current gap between the league’s top eight and the bottom 10, the eight is nowhere near set. The team that is vulnerable to those outside of the eight will almost certainly be the loser of Sunday’s blockbuster clash, as the seventh-placed Eagles hosting the eighth-placed Tigers at Optus Stadium.
The Matchup
Despite Richmond‘s dominance throughout the past four years, West Coast have managed a rather competitive recent record. Over their past six games, West Coast have split the games 3-3, remaining one of the best contenders with the league’s benchmark side.
The two sides know what it takes to win, between them winning the last four premierships. After their 2018 flag, the Eagles have struggled to consistently be one of the league’s top teams. Finishing fifth in the two years after has led to disappointingly shallow finals campaigns, with a spectacular loss to Collingwood at home in last year’s elimination final leaving a sour taste in the mouths of many.
Looking for redemption in 2021 hasn’t always gone to plan. An impressive win against Port Adelaide in Round 3 seemed to be the win Eagles needed to kickstart their push for the top four. But that was quickly undermined by a disappointing away loss to St.Kilda, allowing the Saints to kick the last eight goals of the game to complete a 33-point comeback.
Since that loss, the Eagles have been struggling to field a full-strength side and it has caused some less than flattering results. A humiliating 97-point loss to Geelong as well as a shock home loss to the young Bombers have held the Eagles back from pushing into the top four.
Despite fielding an inexperienced lineup for a majority of the season, the Eagles have done enough to remain cemented in the top eight. For now. And after a win against the Blues, they travel home full of confidence.
For many casual footy fans, Richmond have had a surprisingly slow start to the season. Sitting in eighth position on the ladder at the halfway point, you could be forgiven for thinking they are vulnerable. And they might be.
However, the position Richmond find themselves in after 12 rounds this season isn’t foreign. Through eight rounds last season, the Tigers were “struggling” with a record of 4-1-3 and outside the eight.
The champs looked vulnerable midway through the season. But ultimately, a team that never peaks early was able to come home strong with momentum into finals. And of course as we all know, they came home with the chocolates.
After taking care of business against bottom sides Carlton and Hawthorn through the first two rounds, Richmond were made an example of by a rampant young Swans outfit. A shock to many, the Tigers had no answer after being jumped early by 40 points at half-time.
The reason some have questioned where the Tigers are at this season is due to their inability to beat other top eight sides. Through the first 12 rounds, Richmond have managed just one win against a current top-eight side with an admittedly impressive win against the then-undefeated Bulldogs side.
However, they have also lost five games against the Swans, Power, Demons, Cats and Lions. A record that doesn’t flatter the reigning premiers, it has been largely due to fielding inexperienced players due to their own issues with injury.
Winning two games on the trot when hit with scoreboard adversary has caused the belief of the group to grow. A scintillating last quarter against the Bombers, who took the lead midway through the last quarter, is a prime example of that. The momentum they bring will play a huge role in what they believe to be a very winnable game on Sunday.
Both sides go into this week’s matchup feeling the brutal toll of injury, with big names being forced to watch from the sidelines. Primary ruckman Toby Nankervis will remain on the sidelines, leaving a tall task for Mabior Chol who will face Nic Naitanui in the ruck, whilst Dion Prestia will be back on the sidelines after re-aggravating his hamstring late in last weeks win. Tom Lynch will also be missed as he is recovering from his knee injury.
The Eagles will still remain without key players Luke Shuey, Tim Kelly and Jeremy McGovern who have all faced extended stints on the sidelines, whilst Brad Sheppard will also be out after suffering from concussion in a sickening contest against Carlton.
The Eagles forward line does welcome back some tall timber, with Josh Kennedy and Oscar Allen returning and set to cause headaches for Richmond’s back six.
Richmond go into the match in better form and with more personnel than the Eagles, but as many teams usually find it is rare to travel to Optus Stadium and take four points away from the flat track bullying Eagles, no matter the circumstances.
In what will be a riveting game for 120 minutes, the repercussions will last a lot longer after the final siren.
The Repercussions
Both teams will be heading into their mid-season byes after the final bell on Sunday night. No matter the result, both have plenty of planning and review to undertake in preparation for the back-end of the season. However, for the victors, they will be sleeping a whole lot better.
The equation is simple. The winner of Sunday’s blockbuster will head into the bye in a great position to compete for a spot in the top four, earning themselves the double chance come finals. Both the Eagles and the Tigers have the potential to do so, but a win on the weekend is a vital first step to getting into that conversation.
For the loser, life becomes a lot, lot tougher. Not only will aspirations for top four be virtually unreachable, but they will also likely slip only one game ahead of teams outside the eight gunning for their spot in finals.
With both teams byes the week after, the ladder is a little misleading as there are teams below who have played a game less. That leaves this week’s loser incredibly vulnerable to getting jumped by teams below at the conclusion of the bye rounds.
The draw for the Eagles is tough, with consecutive games facing the Bulldogs and Swans straight out of the bye. The Tigers have a string of very winnable games before back-to-back games against the Lions and Cats look to clamp down their season once again.
The importance of this Sunday’s clash can not be overstated. Both can make a strong push for top four contention if able to win, but also leave themselves incredibly vulnerable to the teams below fighting for the final spot in finals. And those teams are ready for either West Coast or Richmond to slip up.

Looks like Leppa is doing special comments for Ch7 tonight
Unfortunately, so is Jobe Watson :help
-
Hit your targets, Tiges :banghead
Wasted about 6 inside 50s :banghead.
-
Not pretty but take it. Jack goal off the ground :gotigers.
Rich 1.1-7
WC 0.0-0
-
Bolton selfish there blasting away with a player at the 🔝 of the square all alone.
-
NicNat pulled that out of the proverbial.
Two errors by us set that up. The blind kick down the line to a loose Eagle and then we allowed the kick to go over the back to NicNat :banghead.
-
Where are our ground level crumbers when the ball hits the ground in our F50?
-
Nail your tackles, Tiges.
-
Keep kicking it to Eagle defenders :banghead
Short you can kick it from 50.
-
Why take the advantage? It was a free dead in front.
-
Good mark Jack. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 2.2-14
WC 1.0-6
-
Lucky there. Allowed it over the back again :banghead.
-
Gifting them soft goals.
14 - 12
-
That's HTB. He was swing around 720.
Now the umps give them a free ::).
-
Looks like the umpiring is back to normal tonight. Missing a few our way so far.
-
Our mids need to lift. Can't win a clearance.
14 - 18
-
Another easy clearance out of the middle for them. We'll get murdered if we keep allowing them easy ball inside their F50.
-
Can we butcher it any more?! :scream
-
What's Chol doing? He's a mile behind his defender. Play in front Mabs.
-
Coming out of defence way too easy
-
Our F50 pressure is terrible.
-
Geez that was slack defending. Dimma needs to give them a rocket at 1/4 time.
-
Time to wake up a bit. Bruise free game so far.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 2.2-14
West Coast 3.0-18
Goals: Riewoldt 2.
What a crap quarter! Smashed in the centre clearances, dumb and sloppy with the ball and dumb and slack defending without it. Lucky to be just 4 pts down.
-
Disappointing qtr.
For the amount of inside 50s in the first 10 minutes we have basically nothing to show for it
Bolton the main offender with 2 terrible misses
-
Our F50 pressure is terrible.
Agree. Turn up the heat and the controlled possession game crumbles.
We aren’t applying the required levels of pressure as yet. Hopefully we have the petrol to turn it up when it really matters.
Ryan quiet that quarter don’t want to see him loose like he was in the last minute of that quarter.
-
Time to wake up a bit. Bruise free game so far.
It's the way Hocking wants it :P.
But yep we need to wake up and bring the pressure. Our small forwards have been MIA so far.
-
Hmmmm the Elephant in the room is back.....
-
Bolts what was that?
-
What's up with Bolton's kicking tonight??
-
Hmmmm the Elephant in the room is back.....
Which one? 8)
-
Blowing our chances :scream. Caddy poster.
15 - 18
-
Who failed to run with Cripps?
-
I'll say it again. Bruise free.
-
They are making us pay for our misses :banghead. That's the difference in the game. We're missing and they aren't.
15 - 24
-
Who failed to run with Cripps?
What about the lack of tackling pressure on the ball carrier?
-
What's up with Bolton's kicking tonight??
He had a similar shocker earlier in the season. Has he been reading too much of his own press this week?
-
Caddy is so lazy, both around the ball and in defence.
-
Who failed to run with Cripps?
What about the lack of tackling pressure on the ball carrier?
Yes Kennedy brushed Edwards off like a fly
-
Finally we kick one straight. Graham on the run = goal :gotigers.
Rich 3.3-21
WC 4.0-24
-
Hit your #$%@ targets :banghead. Jack was wide open on the lead and we kick over his head :banghead.
-
Very lazy on transition tonight, no urgency to chase and get numbers back.
-
And they make us pay again :banghead.
21 - 30
We're our worst enemy tonight :banghead.
-
Some of our ball use :banghead
-
We not on our game tonight. Need to lift.
-
Dusty all class :bow :gotigers
Rich 4.3-27
WC 5.0-30
-
Cotchin is spent. Time to hang em up skipper.
-
LOL. Thanks for the 50. CCJ mark, 50 and goal :gotigers
Rich 5.3-33
WC 5.0-30
-
Bloody soft 50 :help
And we are 8n front
-
That's schoolboy stuff Jayden. Lucky they gave it straight back.
-
These schoolboy errors :banghead.
-
Geez we're the simple difficult tonight. Aarts lucky that floating through with being touched. Goal :gotigers.
Rich 6.3-39
WC 5.0-30
-
Great gut running Lambert. Deserved that goal :gotigers.
Rich 7.3-45
WC 5.0-30
We're still not hitting targets but these knock-ons are saving us.
-
Third time tonight we've allowed it over the back :banghead.
45 - 36
-
Silly free given away by Grimes
Just clumsy :banghead
-
Lambert snap from 40 misses.
46 - 36
-
Stupid by Broad
He should have conceded the behind he was under pressure :banghead
-
Justcdumb, just dumd footy by Broad
-
These pricks can't miss.
-
Terrible defending. Someone didn't pick up their man when the Eagles had the ball at HB and we were chasing one short from there.
Broady can't drop marks like that either. It would've been better too to fumble the ball through.
46 - 42
-
Clean up our skills and our sloppy frees and we flog this mob
-
Is the camera work been shot from Mars tonight. Terrible
-
Another terrible error by Bolton
Selfish, trying to be the hero
-
The cute stuff is fine up forward Shai but not in defence. Finally we can rush on through.
46 - 43
-
Wasn't Caddy held there?
Another schoolboy error btw (Kmac).
-
How the hell are we ahead. Our skills are disgraceful.
-
Why around the corner Jack :banghead
-
Great mark Jack but why not use the drop punt from 40?
47 - 43
-
7 frees to 1 that quarter against us.
-
7 frees to 1 that quarter against us.
And I reckon they were there.
-
Half-time
Richmond 2.2 7.5-47
West Coast 3.0 7.1-43
Goals: Riewoldt 2, Aarts, Coleman-Jones, Graham, Lambert, Martin.
-
Yep, no doubt.
Cotchin has 4 possessions, only 1 that quarter and it was a 3 meter kick off the ground.
-
7 frees to 1 that quarter against us.
Normal transmission has resumed :P.
-
Seven goals straight to the Weagles & 7 frees their way ….
Eagles can’t miss & neither will the umps …. :-\H
-
A few of ours are drinking their own bath water. Baker is one of them.
-
We look 1 tall short in defence.
-
If Cotchin is night right he should not be playing. Why drop Dawkins and play an half injured player.
-
I just saw the replay of Nic Nat’s roving goal. I know he is a jet but mabs looked lost
-
If Cotchin is night right he should not be playing. Why drop Dawkins and play an half injured player.
Not sure what the reason is but only 4 possessions to half time is not usual. Needs to lift.
-
It's our schoolboy errors that are hurting us. We've gifted them 2-3 goals allowing the ball to go over the defensive pack and out the back. Then with the ball we've missed simple targets and butchered the ball going inside 50. Jack twice was 15m clear on the lead and the kick in has missed him by miles.
-
Are we managing Sheds? He's only had 62% gametime. So has Rioli btw.
-
Are we managing Sheds? He's only had 62% gametime. So has Rioli btw.
Makes you wonder if he is 100% right after the conjecture around his ankle a few days ago
-

Yep really disappointing school boy stuff in general been poor this year our skills need to clean them up and some of the boys need to keep it simple trying to do to much.
-
I just saw the replay of Nic Nat’s roving goal. I know he is a jet but mabs looked lost
He did
But overall he is holding his own
-
Are we managing Sheds? He's only had 62% gametime. So has Rioli btw.
Makes you wonder if he is 100% right after the conjecture around his ankle a few days ago
The only other thing I can think of is are we keeping him for the second half just in case Lambert blows up after just coming back.
-
Pathetic by Rioli
Poohed his pants :banghead
-
We gift them another one
But....it lucky for us was touched
-
Another schoolboy error - costly fumble Noah :scream.
Lucky it was touched on the line.
47 - 44
-
Well that was an embarrassing piece of play.
-
Poor by Balta
You can't allow Kennedy that amount of freedom
-
Too easy :banghead.
Touched again thankfully.
47 - 45
-
Clever at ground level CCJ but he misses.
48 - 45
-
They are flooding with big numbers.
-
Floss finds Kmac in the pocket. Poster.
49 - 45
-
Great chase down Kmac :clapping. Similar position to the last shot. Overcompensates :P.
50 - 45
-
Been good this qtr Kam :clapping
CCJ goals
We needed that
-
Better forward pressure. We're keeping it in there. Need to make these chances count.
Kmac to CCJ 30 out. Goal :gotigers.
Rich 8.8-56
WC 7.3-45
-
Rioli spoils Jack who was going to mark uncontested
-
Three schoolboy errors in a row.
Dumb handball Broady.
Ballwatching on the wing :banghead.
Then a kick into the man on the mark :banghead.
-
Well done Kmac on the wing against Ryan. Ends up a goal to George :gotigers.
Rich 9.8-62
WC 7.3-45
-
Well done K Mac, that was big

Brilliant by KMac again
Didn't allow Ryan to mark then the 2nd effort :clapping
For those who bag him, that's why he is in the side
-
Well done K Mac, that was big
BOG so far
-
Wasn't that a mark to George? The Eagle defender just slammed into him.
-
What happened there Jack?
63 - 45
-
Oh Jack :help
-
Terrible by Houli
-
Two open chances inside F50 and we've stuffed up both of them with dinky kicks :banghead.
-
:banghead
-
:banghead :banghead :banghead
That was terrible allowing NicNat to do that
Disgraceful
Gift them another and let them back in
All because of in our F50 Houli goes the dinky kick instead of it long to CCJ
-
Houli asleep there on Ryan.
-
Every week this happens. Should be 5 goals up.
We were all over them.
Need to fire up here
-
Can we actually hit a target inside F50 and kick it straight to an Eagle defender :banghead.
-
I hope Bolton watches the tape very closely and the Coaches tell him he has had a shocker, been a very selfish player this evening
-
Wasn't that a mark to George? The Eagle defender just slammed into him.
Yep another one missed, could be costly
-
Been good this qtr Kam :clapping
CCJ goals
We needed that
Excellent game from Macca.
-
3/4 time
Richmond 2.2 7.5 9.9-63
West Coast 3.0 7.1 8.3-51
Goals: Riewoldt 2, Coleman-Jones 2, Aarts, Castagna, Graham, Lambert, Martin.
-
KMac and Jack let them off that quarter. Should have kicked 1 goal each at least
-
Oh Jack :help
Not the first time tonight. He does many great and special thing but he would also be the one throwing his arms up when he was let down like he does at times.
-
I hope Bolton watches the tape very closely and the Coaches tell him he has had a shocker, been a very selfish player this evening
Seems to do this every now and again. Maybe a case of biggus headus?
-
All these schoolboy errors are doing my head in :banghead.
On the positive side, I would have Floss, Kmac & Lambert as our best 3.
CCJ's marks down the line have been important too.
-

Jake Aarts really must play to his very obvious limitations
-
Here we go, frees are piling up against us. 8-17.

So terrible 'efforts' so far this qtr. Caddy was like in quicksand then.
-
Best bloody thing Bolton's done all night

Cripps throws the ball with one hand and it's a free to them ::).
Stuff the umps. We will win anyway?
-
Bolton goals
But Jack Graham's goal
Tackle at HB, gets free, get runs to get it back then onto Bolton
-
Boltonnnnnnn!!!!
I reckon that'll do it!!
Nah, 10 minutes to go and we gift them another soft one
-
Another free to them gifts them a goal ::)
Yeah we get pinged for a throw when they didn't ::).
Frees: 21 - 12 ::)
81 - 65
-
Good luck down in the backline. They are looking to pull everything up on us now.
-
Another free to them gifts them a goal ::)
Yeah we get pinged for a throw when they didn't ::).
Frees: 21 - 12 ::)
81 - 65
No issue with the throw but they took advantage :banghead
-
It was a high ball. Needed to make that a contest Aarts.
-
Dumb by Dusty
And even dumber by Short :banghead :banghead
-
That was poor there by Sheds and Dusty.
-
:scream :scream :scream :scream
We let back in again
-
Schoolboy errors again in our forward line gifts them another goal at the other end. Story of the night :banghead
81 - 71
-
Our lack of discipline will hurt us tonight
-
Too many weak efforts there
-
How effen pathetic by Baker
-
Should have been a free to Balta for too high.
Brainfades galore by us in the last couple of mins :banghead.
81 - 72
-
We are going to puke all over ourselves here.
-
Absolute crap Tigers
Just crap
-
Poor mistakes and errors galore from our seniors to keeping eagles in it stupidity really bad.
-
Soft efforts in the air :banghead.
Lucky NicNat misses a sitter.
81 - 73
-
Can the Captain stand up????????
-
Omg Vlastuin.
We are throwing this away
-
Need to steady experienced heads out there.
-
Another schoolboy error gifts them another goal :banghead
How many chances are we going to give them Tiges! :banghead
-
They are running over the top us
We lose this you can go back to Dusty's stupidity trying to run around a 2nd eagle player
-
We’ve lost the plot.
-
Dont really deserve to win. Weve been terrible last 15 minutes.
-
We get pinged again for a throw for the exact same thing Cripps did ::).
-
Our experienced heads have been poor no composure calmness ffs.
-
Dumb George.
-
Play dumb schoolboy crap and you get what you deserve.
-
This last quarter is an absolute joke.
Can’t believe the stupid decisions by every player.
-
Here I was feeling sorry for St Kilda supporters
-
Get in the bin Castagna.
As selfish act Ive seen in the last 4 years.
-
Well done to the eagles. They had big names out and beat us. We played like garbage.
-
I’m pretty upset. This was a game we threw away.
So many stupid things I can’t even talk right now. :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Absolute muppets.
Can't make top 4 now and can't win it.
-
Absolutely stuffen pathetic
-
Thanks Tigers
You've just topped off the worst weekend my families had in 15 years
Can't thank you enough
-
Kissed on the idiot Eagles. frees all night and couldn't miss.
-
Its just a game guys. Its not like we lost a gf.
-
But top 4 gone now.
-
Well, that was f🤬cking embarrassing by so many of our players. Way too many passengers and dumb, selfish stuff up and down the ground. Our midfield should be embarrassed… again! Our forward line, way too many passengers.
Cotchin needs to be dropped, he has been atrocious and looks disinterested.
-
Bottom 4 sides play last quarters like that.
-
How many chances do you give a team to get back in the game we deserved it our leaders were poor not one had a calm head or composed.I’ve been saying it all year our skills and brain fades been poor this year.
-
Get in the bin Castagna.
As selfish act Ive seen in the last 4 years.
Dusty's "effort" that would of put us back to 4 goals up mid point of the last was on par
-
Either get Baker out of the stuffing backline or stuffing drop him.... :thumbsdown
-
There is no way that kick to Kennedy went 15 meters
-
Bottom 4 sides play last quarters like that.
^^^^^ this
The last 10 minutes was North and Gols Coast like
-
Leaking too many goals in a row.
Sad to say we're not the team we were.
-
Cotchin handed his arse by Yeo plus Natinui over Chol. Otherwise we were the better team. Those 2 match ups end of story.
-
There is no way that kick to Kennedy went 15 meters
There's no way Kennedy should have been given that much spade yet again
-
Kiss top four goodbye. :banghead :banghead
-
We lost it rather than them winning it.
Losing with more scoring shots sits on us.
Schoolboys error all bloody night that kept the Eagles in the game and allowed them back into it twice.
Senior players have to wear this loss. The lack of level heads was so costly.
Even in that last two mins when we were still in front George just needed to find a teammate to either his left or right but instead he went with the glory hunter shot with two Eagle defenders sitting back in the goalsquare.
Peeed off plus! :banghead
-
Its just a game guys. Its not like we lost a gf.
It's not the loss Ramps
It's how we lost
-
Kiss top four goodbye. :banghead :banghead
Yep
-
Just a terrible performance by us. So many fumbles and what a disappointing last quarter. Some players had embarrassing moments in the last. A little composer is all we needed but not many had it throughout the night. Chol and Balta completely monstered. Was expecting that from Chol but Balta was way off tonight. Too many poor performers to single them out individually.
-
Its just a game guys. Its not like we lost a gf.
It's not the loss Ramps
It's how we lost
And who went missing went it counted
-
Can’t blame Chol too much as he is only young but his defensive efforts in the latter half of the last qtr were poor, we wouldn’t have lost that if Nank was playing
-

I get that people being angry with George I am too
But in the last
It was leaders who need to wear so much of the blame
Dusty twice
Jack R playing Barass from behind time and time again at one point he gifted Barass uncontested marks
Cotchin, well he was poor most of the night
Vlastuin kick in that went down the throat of some Eagle bloke

Spot on! He could have gone back with a short kick but unfortunately, composure is not his strongest asset. A shame it was George who received the ball...
-
Wouldnt have lost if we had the bye and played them at the MCG
-
Now I'm sitting hear listening to Monragna condescendingly say we haven't lost any admirers
:chuck :chuck
-
We failed to play in front in a number of marking contests when the game was on the line. Up and down the line.
-
We got away with starting last quarters like crap the past two weeks. Eventually, you get burned allowing the opposition to dominate from the start of the last quarter. We need to fix how we come out of our 3/4 time huddles.

Where was CCJ midway through the last? We needed him to be the down the line outlet not Jack. I think was spent most of the last on the pine which seems like poor coaching for mine.
-
I’m very critical of Noah this evening gave old man Kennedy way too much space
Also felt we got murdered through the centre corridor and really didn’t do anything to stop it
-
Just stupid from our experienced players. Can't blame the likes of Chol or CCJ. When Jack, Nick and Jason can't play smart. (Not the only ones)

100% we lost that on us.
-
Huge loss in the scheme of things. Even if we were to win every game we probably wouldn't finish top 4.
If we make the finals at all this loss almost guarantees an interstate final against port, bris or eagles.
I don't think finals are a certainty either.
-
Smashed in the contest during the last which will sting for a while.
-
Poor Chol to me he’s like the chiks on bay watch .. stunning to look at and beguiles you with his sublime skills but lacks a work ethic that Nank has.. really hope he can develop but not sure

I'm not blaming George alone for the loss although he wears blame for his part. It was just so typical of how we played all night. All the above were there too WP from our senior players. Too many trying the cute/dumb/selfish/wannabee-the-hero stuff when the simple better smarter option was available :banghead.
I would love to sit on the review of this game. I reckon I could point out at least a hundred U10s errors across the whole game. Most of the Eagles' goals came from our schoolboy errors. I can handle losing if the opposition had outplayed us. However, tonight we might as well have turned up with the 4 points wrapped up in a gift box with pretty yellow and blue ribbons on it :banghead.
-
Poor Chol to me he’s like the chiks on bay watch .. stunning to look at and beguiles you with his sublime skills but lacks a work ethic that Nank has.. really hope he can develop but not sure
Really? I thought he was incredible against the best pure ruck in the competition

Skill errors , fumbling has been there all season unfortunately
-

Chol lets others contest when he is deep in defence. Almost refuses to fly in the contest and lets the opponent impact like what happened in the last. The mark Pickett took in the last is the type of mark Chol needs to start taking.
-
That stupid Short 50 started the rot
It started at the first bounce of the last.
-
We must not over pay for Chol. Made lazy Nic look like a hard-worker.
-
Skill errors , fumbling has been there all season unfortunately
True. Tonight wasn't the first time we've dished out U10s slop. It was just the first time it cost us a win and what really should have been a 4-5 goal one to boot.
-
After watching tonight I can't see us winning it this year but whóoooo how good would it be to get there from here.
Got to be some positive right?
-
Despite this loss it’s a monumental task to win two weeks running in perth
-
West Coast are overrated flat track bullies...should've won it easily and were winning it easily until we self-destructed through a mixture of fart sniffing glory hunting, utter stupidity and sheer panic unbecoming of a premiership side... :shh
-
And an Eagles side that had only won 4 last quarters out of 12 and we're overrun in three of them.
-
Credit where its due guys they played well with a truckload of their players out or coming back from injury or concussion.
-
Sleeping in their own beds and living a normal life would have helped as well.
-
If we are going to pull off a miracle premiership this is the loss we need. Bolton flying for a one handed mark, losing composure, not doing “Richmond things” I think if the team can honestly reflect on this then a premiership is possible. Realistically though Cotchin shouldn’t of played and Balta who is athletically talented should know you can’t let Kennedy do whatever he wants even if he is in his twilight.
-
Even Dusty not taking first option and hesitating or taking another sidestep :facepalm
I can’t remember so many crucial mistakes at various stages.
The last quarter was a debacle.
-
Might not be our year this year , usually someone stands up in the last quarter , we have dropped off a bit this year with all the injuries.

David King with some extra stats from last night's game:
* We conceded 6 goals from stoppages ( WC 6.2-38 to Rich 2.3-15 ). Hardwick would be disappointed with that.
So we lost the game due to West Coast's stoppage dominance.
* We scored 4 more goals than the Eagles via turnovers.
So our turnover game was working. We just lacked composure and rushed our F50 entries and didn't score as much as we should have.
* We almost score a point for every intercept. We're #1 in the AFL for that and a fair way ahead of the next best.
Points from 100 intercepts:
1. Richmond 96.7
2. Brisban 81.5
AFL average 70.0
Last night we scored 66 points from 74 intercepts. So we were a fraction down.

‘Arrogance cost them the game’: AFL legend’s stuff assessment of Tigers’ loss to Eagles
Fox Sports
June 14th, 2021
AFL commentating icon Dennis Cometti believes Richmond’s “arrogance” cost it the game in Sunday night’s loss to West Coast in a thrilling Optus Stadium contest.
Despite leading by 22 points midway through the final term, the Tigers conceded the last four goals of the match, including the sealer from Josh Kennedy, to go down by four points.
Speaking on Triple M Perth, Cometti was full of praise for the contest, putting it in elite company compared to other games at the venue.
“That’s the best one (game) I’ve seen there and I’ve seen every game at Optus Stadium,” he said.
“That game never stopped last night, the Tigers didn’t let it stop. Their arrogance actually cost them the game and I mean that in a positive way - Richmond not only want to beat you, they want you to know you can’t beat them.
“As a result, they kept the game open when probably other sides would’ve closed it down. We got the finish we got because of Richmond, perhaps they were trying to do the same thing to the Eagles as they did to Essendon nine days ago and put you on your knees.”
While full of praise for the Eagles for their second against-the-odds win in as many weeks, Cometti also lauded Richmond for allowing the frantic finish despite the side’s eventual loss.
“The Eagles did really well, they played really well, but full credit to the Tigers for playing the way they did,” he said.
“They won’t be happy this morning they lost but at the same time they probably learnt more about themselves.”

Commetti has absolutely nailed our attitude late in the game.
It's time to maybe drop a few big names so they a good think about their position in the team.
-
Arrogance, an unwillingness to do the basics when the game was there to be won and an inability to execute basic skills when required losing all chance they had left of a top four spot. :banghead

Brayshaw loves quite a few of our players (Dusty, Jack, Bolton, Balta, Nank..Rance and of course King before that) but clearly hates our club like most Norf flogs do for some reason....commentates like he's still doing his dumb bogan breakfast radio show.... needs to be slapped every time he says "wheels" in reference to a player's pace...could be awkward if channel 7 decide to use him on their Paralympics coverage... :shh

Report Card: Round 13
Max Laughton, Ben Waterworth, Ben Cotton and David Zita
Foxsports
15 June 2021
RICHMOND
They lost no admirers, but this was a game that was seemingly destined for a Tigers win. Damien Hardwick’s men led by 22 points midway through the fourth term, only to concede the last four goals of the game to the Eagles – and not even score themselves – to lose in thrilling circumstances. The loss leaves the Tigers in outright eighth on the ladder, with Fremantle one game behind.
IN THE VOTES
In his first game since Round 6, Kane Lambert couldn’t have been more impressive upon return, finishing with 2.1 from 27 disposals and 11 contested possessions. Dustin Martin, as always, threatened to break the game open as he kicked two goals from 23 disposals, seven inside 50s and six clearances. Nick Vlastuin was awesome in defence, finishing with 23 disposals, 11 intercepts and nine marks, while Dylan Grimes was also important.
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
Coach Damien Hardwick after the game bemoaned his side’s lack of composure, not just late in the game but right throughout the contest. That lack of composure, though, ultimately played a big part in conceding the last four goals of the game. Trent Cotchin (12 disposals) and Shane Edwards (19) were below their usual high standards. But overall, the Tigers are far from panic mode.

F which is a fail.
It’s a fail because a win would have kept a top four hope alive and in our own hands.
Now the only way to make top four is the very unlikely situation where we hope teams above us drop the unlosable games (like we did).
-
We can win it from 5th or 6th so missing top 4 is not end.
Just need some luck on the injury front and clean up our play getting rid of the errors
-
Our best is still the benchmark possibly with Geelong and Demons.
We’ve gone though unbeaten and won 2 flags, we’ve played 4 finals and won 1 flag - to win 4 finals and win a 4th flag is well and truly within our capabilities.
Doggies did it in 2016, I think we can in 2021.
To do it, a full or near full playing list along with 4 home finals would be ideal.
I’m not even remotely worried about top 4 if these other things come our way
-
My Elderly Father passed an interesting observation regarding the last quarter.
"They were already on the plane heading home, thought they had it won and heads were not in the game."
Im not sure I totally agree with him but he has seen alot of football. Anybody else see that?

Yeah I agree. Thought they had them when they went 22 up. Few errors, they all expected someone else to lift etc. Threw it away
