It's behind a paywall. If someone can post what the HeraldSun has as our "best 22" for 2022 it'll be much appreciated :).
How trades, free agency has changed Tigers’ best 22
They may have missed the finals last season but Richmond is still hoping it is in the premiership window. Is this the club’s best 22 for next year?

Personally don’t have pick as best 22 but other than that it looks about right assuming short can learn to play the wing role.

If everybody is right to go then given our last few weeks when Rioli played back it makes a back 6 hard to pick. You either leave Short or Rioli out as per the teams above. Not sure which way I would go though moving Rioli into the forwards is a option.
-
Will be interesting to see RCD and Ross this year.
Hopefully they can continue their development and force their way into the 22.

Be interesting to see if new draftee plays immediately too?

C agree, what’s the point in drafting players that never get a game, have to play and develop them, saying that it has been very difficult for the seconds comp during Covid

Your club's best 22 in 2022: Who's in, who's out, who's new

RICHMOND
Richmond's best 22 looks remarkably similar to the premiership team of 2020, it's just a matter of getting them all on the park at the same time. Recruit Robbie Tarrant comes in for the retired David Astbury, while Daniel Rioli had already switched to defence to cover for Bachar Houli. Fan favourite Ivan Soldo will return from a year out with a torn ACL, which ultimately pushes out Marlion Pickett, with the likes of Jack Graham, Jason Castagna, Liam Baker and Sydney Stack all capable of rotating on the wing. Noah Balta and Nathan Broad make a welcome return to defence after bad syndesmosis injuries, while it's fingers crossed injury-prone duo Dion Prestia and Trent Cotchin have smooth pre-seasons. Superstar Dustin Martin is making slow but steady progress after a lacerated kidney but is expected to complete a normal pre-season, despite having lost several kilograms during his recovery. Mabior Chol and Callum Coleman-Jones have left the club, but didn't have regular senior spots. Josh Caddy needs a strong pre-season to force his way back into the 22.

New faces and selection squeezes: Every AFL club’s best 22 for 2022 after the trade period

B: Dylan Grimes, Robbie Tarrant, Nick Vlastuin
HB: Jayden Short, Noah Balta, Dan Rioli
C: Jack Graham, Trent Cotchin, Sydney Stack
HF: Shane Edwards, Jack Riewoldt, Kane Lambert
F: Shai Bolton, Tom Lynch, Dustin Martin

In: Robbie Tarrant
Out: David Astbury, Bachar Houli, Patrick Naish, Mabior Chol, Callum Coleman-Jones
WE SAY: A lot of the premiership core is still there, but we’re going to be seeing a slightly different line-up at Tigerland in 2022. Leading the pack clearly is Robbie Tarrant, with the former North Melbourne star making the move to the Tigers in a bid for flag success. He’s an obvious walk-up start in a defence now lacking David Astbury and Bachar Houli. The move of Dan Rioli to half-back was a successful one and will continue next year, while there was plenty to like from Sydney Stack in the back half of the year. A notable absentee from this line-up is Ivan Soldo, who we won’t be seeing for some time as he recovers from a knee injury. The loss of Callum Coleman-Jones and Mabior Chol isn’t ideal, but it doesn’t drastically affect the Tigers’ starting line-up next year.

-
Classic lack of research - Blair Hartley conceded Soldo was right to play late in the season but we’d already put him on the LTI to draft Parker.
Soldo will 100% be there for round 1. I am hopeful this helps our clearance work as he’s a decent ruck and compliments Nanks nicely in there.
We need another clearance player - whether it’s a draftee from this November or a Jack Ross, Will Martyn or RCD who blow the roof off a pre season and emerge, I don’t know nor do I care but it’s an area of critical concern to address for season 22
-
I’m putting money on RCD and Ross to stand up next year, it is their time.
-
With the trade & draft period over and our list finalised, what is our best team now?
-
I want to rest cotch dusty jack Prestia and Lynch and ease them all in so they can peak in the finals. So play others off and on in the first 10 rounds.
-
With the trade & draft period over and our list finalised, what is our best team now?
Hmm i will have a go.
B: Grimes - Miller - Vlastuin

C: Rioli - Martin - Ralphsmith
R: Soldo - Cotchin - Prestia
HF: Lambert - Balta - Edwards
F: Bolton - Riewoldt - Lynch

MAGOOS
FB: McIntosh - Nyuon - Mansell
HB: Banks - Gibcus - Short
C: Pickett - Caddy - Brown
R: Ryan - Ross - Dow
HF: Clarke - #### - Aarts. Note Parker at 189cm is the kp option but atm we dont have a KPF
FF: Cumberland - #### - M Rioli. We dont have a KPF to play or develop. My understanding is Colina is still playing basketball for university of Hawaii and wont even be back in aust until may/june. So not only do we have no key forwards developing we have just one ruckman available.
INT: Castagna - Martyn - Parker

I hope Tarrant gets a good run at it. Makes our backline look so much better.
-
i have 6 or 8 regulars who are replaceable. A team without them would go.
Vlastuin - Miller - Grimes, Miller for Astbury retired
Stack - Tarrant - Brown. Tarrant for Balta moved fwd. Brown for Broad, hes moved to a wing to replace McIntosh. Out Short
Broad - Martin - Rioli. Rioli moves up to the wing allowing Brown game time in his best position. Out uber dud McIntosh in Broad.
Nankervis - Cotchin - Prestia. Our strongest on ball brigade.
Sonsie - Balta - Ralphsmith. Out Aarts replaced by some quality in Sonsie, Ralphsmith gets cantstandya spot.
Bolton - Riewoldt - Lynch. Lynch gets second ruck duties against the second stringers allowing us to play just one ruckman.Bolton a big part of rotations.
Graham - RCD - Baker - Edwards. All mids on the bench and mostly versatile.
EMG Pickett
Six players played less than 10 games in the team last year. All bar Brown would be in the picture imo.
The six are Miller, Brown, Stack, Sonsie, Ralphsmith and RC-D.

Every AFL club’s best 22 for ’22: Richmond Tigers
A pivotal year ahead for the Punt Road club, what changes did the off-season bring?
Benjamin Millard
zerohanger.com
January 25, 2022
After a bitterly disappointing 2021 relative to the heights reached in the preceding five years, Richmond enter 2022 at a crossroads.
With the majority of their stars entering their 30s, the Tigers have been faced with the reality that now is the time to bring in new blood rather than face a slide down the ladder.
However, they're by no means out of the running for another flag and, should results go their way at the start of the year, expect punters to start shortening the odds for another Richmond premiership win.
We take a look at their best 22 and see just how well the Tigers will stack up with the remainder of the completion this year.
Ins: Robbie Tarrant (North Melbourne) Sam Banks, Tom Brown, Judson Clarke, Josh Gibcus, Tyler Sonsie
Outs: David Astbury (retired), Mabior Chol (Gold Coast Suns), Callum Coleman-Jones (North Melbourne Kangaroos), Derek Eggmolesse-Smith (delisted), Ryan Garthwaite (delisted), Bachar Houli (retired), Patrick Naish (delisted)
Defenders
The Tigers defence was in tatters last year, with the lineup down in Damien Hardwick's back six changing weekly.
Throw in the retirement of key personnel in the form of David Astbury and Bachar Houli and suddenly Richmond were desperately in need of reinforcements.
Luckily, Roos veteran Robbie Tarrant was available and will fill one of the voids left by the departed defenders with his steady set of hands sure to add some very nice solidity to the Richmond rearguard.
Elsewhere the injured pairing of Nathan Broad and Noah Balta will come back in to regain their spots after missing large chunks of 2021.
The usual suspects in last year's Jack Dyer medallist Dylan Grimes and triple premiership player Nick Vlastuin round off the defence along with the ever-reliable Jayden Short.
2021's Pick 9 Josh Gibcus will likely get called upon this year to strut his stuff in the Richmond defence, with his huge frame and ability overhead sure to impress both Tigers faithful and neutrals alike.
Along with Gibcus, running defenders in the form of Tom Brown and Sam Banks will also provide cover for Short, should he go down with injury or need to be rested throughout the season.
Midfielders
Another part of the Tigers' starting 22 that was decimated by injury last year was the midfield brigade.
The development of Jack Graham was a rare highlight in 2021 and he takes up a spot out wide in the Tigers midfield, whilst 'The Human Meatball' himself in Dion Prestia comes back in alongside the hard-running Kamdyn McIntosh.
Toby Nankervis takes the starting ruck spot over the returning Ivan Soldo, however, expect plenty of rotation during the year due to the two being relatively evenly matched in their abilities.
Former captain Trent Cotchin prepares for his first season in just under a decade without the responsibility of skipper, whilst the handy Shane Edwards starts with him on-ball after having a stop-start 2021.
Should injuries plague the Tigers again, the likes of Hugo Ralphsmith, Riley Collier-Dawkins and Thomson Dow, amongst others, will be called upon to fill in for their more senior counterparts.
Forwards
Liam Baker's 2021 was filled with transition after coach Hardwick elected to shift the silky defender up the ground to his new home as an attacking-minded midfielder, with the youngster set to get even better with more game time in 2022.
Tom Lynch definitely had a year to forget, however still keeps his place in the lineup with his ability to crash packs key to the Tigers' small forwards operation. Kane Lambert lines up at half-forward, however will likely split his time between attack and midfield in 2022.
Shai Bolton established himself as one of the competition's most exciting players last season by winning Mark of the Year and will hope to continue his bright form into this campaign.
Spearhead Jack Riewoldt will start the year in his natural full-forward position, with the 33-year-old hoping to win a final premiership before he hangs up the boots in the near future.
Arguably the biggest question heading into 2022 at Tigerland is whether or not Dustin Martin will be able to get back to his best following a horror kidney injury towards the back-end of 2021. The three-time Norm Smith medallist has returned to Punt Road looking very lean and it will be interesting to see whether his trademark physicality will still be a trait of his this year.
Draft prospects Tyler Sonsie and Judson Clarke are two highly-rated youngsters who slid down the order in 2021's proceedings. Their speed and class should mean that if any senior small forwards should slip in their standards, these two will be there to pick up the pieces.

Interesting he sees Aarts in ahead of others.
Good to see he thinks Tom Lynch will hold his place in the team also

Hmm what is Hardwick likely to do. Yep he will talk up playing kids but at the end of the day if they are available he will stick with his experienced favorites.
Reckon he will go like this.
FB Vlastuin - Tarrant - Grimes
HB Short - Balta - Broad
C McIntosh - Cotchin - Pickett
R Nankervis - Martin - Prestia.
HF Lambert - Riewoldt - Edwards
FF Castagna - Lynch - Bolton
INT Aarts - Graham - Baker - Rioli.
Aarts may miss if he plays two ruckmen.
Reckon we need to play our fair share of kids so 4 or 5 favorites have to miss but who? The answer to that is likely none but we all have our preferences for me i want us to go with the following.
FB Vlastuin - Miller - Grimes. If we dont play Miller then id like to see Gibcus play third tall and Grimes goes to kp.Either way its games into a kid
HB Broad - Tarrant - Brown. Im not sold on Rioli and i can't stand Short.
C Rioli - Martin - Ralphsmith. No butcher in McIntosh and Rioli simply roles up to the wing.
R Nankervis - Cotchin - Prestia
HF Sonsie - Balta - Lambert. Sonsie to start his career as a classy highly skilled fwd who knows where the goals are with superb delivery both feet
FF Bolton - Riewoldt - Lynch.
INT RC-D - Baker - Stack - Graham. the best of our younger blokes with if you like Stack as the 7th defender.
5 or 6 newer faces so 5 or 6 older players have to miss.

Like that defence but perhaps lacks some run and carry. Perhaps throw Stack down there and kick Floss a go inside f50?
