Is Ross really playing wing? Does he have the pace and the tank?

Interesting that Balta has been named in defence and Gibcus on the bench. Dimma playing mind games with Carlton?

Great to have Grimes and Graham in.

Aarts in the 22 :P.

Hugo must be the sub.

Why is Pickett in also? Barely been sighted this pre season?

Hopefully it's just Dimma not taking positions on paper seriously. Rather Hugo or even Short on a wing. We learnt last year that Ross wasn't a winger. His place is in the guts otherwise he shouldn't get a game.

Need a two way runner on the wing to replace Kmac. With Lambert out too then that leaves Pickett to choose from. Marlion was decent against Geelong when he came on.

That Aartz Pickett Ross and Castagna are in the side is problematic at best. Parker as an emergency doesnt say much for our depth. There doesnt seem to be any real commitment to bringing on the next generation. Ralphsmith, Dow should be in the side. Mansell is stiff. Miller did nothing wrong in his debut game he needs games. I wasnt expecting this type of selection. From a comfortable win Ill just be happy with any win at all now.

It's early days but it wouldn't surprise me if most of last year's draft crop bypasses most of those we've drafted in previous 3 years. Gibcus, Brown and Sonsie already look to have more natural football ability and attributes. Dow, RCD, etc need to be dominating VFL level racking up possessions. It's been hard for them to do that with no VFL in the last two years but that's what we need to see from them this year if they are to finally step up and break into the seniors replacing our mature fringe players like Aarts and Pickett.

I can see what the coaches see in aarts. But for me it’s either him or castings. They’re too similarly bad to fit in the team

I struggle to understand why Ralphsmith or RCD are not in the 22. I we are thinking that we can rely on our older players all year it will be a fail. We need these younger players getting exposed now. Disappointing round 1 side in my view.

RCD copped a whack to the ribs at training a few backs. Severe bruising. That's why he didn't play against Hawthorn and is playing VFL this week

Yes but he played reserves after that Rib bruising 2 weeks ago. He just hasn't been picked.
