Title: Hardwick's post-game presser / We lost the game through ill-discipline: Dimma
Post by: one-eyed on May 27, 2022, 11:36:43 PM
Ch 7 showed some of Dimma's post-game presser.

* Not my job to judge on that (whether it's 50 or not). That's for others to decide. In the box we were not quite sure what was going to unfold. Irrelevant anyway.

* We can look at that last play but we were 33 points. If you're up by 30 odd points you shouldn't lose.

* 75% good. 25% disappointing.

* Asked what changed after getting to 33 points up?
Mills going back. We didn't use the ball well going forward. We rectified it in the last quarter but we kicked poorly. Something like 2.6 [actually 3.6].

* Lost the game through ill-discipline.

* Cotch unbelievable act. Solid hit. Not sure of his status but he did well to get through the game.

Dimma sounded too peeved off that we lost to care. He didn't care about the non-50 either.

3.6 to 6.0 in the last quarter and 4.8 to 10.3 after half-time. Having more scoring shots and losing is us losing the game rather the Swans winning it. It's worse than the Blues and Saints caves as at least those two completely dominated and outplayed us in their bursts. Tonight we just threw the game away via our own stupidity both with and without the ball. It was amateur hour. Don't blame Dimma for being totally ticked off post-game and not caring about certain details.

'It's irrelevant': Dimma unfazed by controversial call

Damien Hardwick isn't fazed by the chaotic ending to his side's loss to Sydney on Friday night

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick said coughing up a five-goal lead was of greater concern than the decision to not pay Dion Prestia a 50m penalty after the siren.

Prestia would have had the opportunity to tie the game, but the umpires' collective call was Chad Warner had not heard the whistle for a free kick when he booted the ball into the crowd on the final siren in Sydney's six-point win.

Hardwick said he wasn't sure how the decision should have been adjudicated.

"It's irrelevant. You can look at that last incident, but the fact of the matter is we were up by 30 (33) points, it's easy to look at the last game, but we should have iced the game," Hardwick said.

"Seventy-five per cent of the time I thought we were pretty good, 25 per cent lapse – especially in the third quarter – there were some things we thought we could have done a bit better.

"Everyone will always look at the last play and the what-ifs, but the fact of the matter is, if you're 33 points up, you shouldn't lose."

Hardwick bemoaned Richmond's ill-discipline in the closely fought match.

"Mills, their seventh, probably generated a little bit of income for them, and we probably didn't use the ball as well as we would have liked in that situation. And that's on us as coaches to prepare the players a little bit better in that situation," Hardwick said.

"Last quarter, we rectified it and had our chances, and we kicked 2.6 or something like that (3.6) to their six straight. There's the game.

"It would be remiss of me to say we'll give up five free-kick goals again, two from 50m penalties and a few downfield. We just kill ourselves at various stages and we expect better. It's disappointing to lose a game like this through ill-discipline."

Looked and sounded more than peeved.... a 3.40 min presser says he was pee'd off bg time

Without doubt ill-discipline cost us the game.

And I'm throwing it back on our 2 Captains who gave up 2 of the 5 goals.

They need to get this out of their games and get it out of the teams game.

So disappointed in both of them :banghead
