Tarrant had his best game for the club tonight
Was good in the last qtr. Up to 3 qtr time he was fumbling everything, not taking marks and missing kicks/handballs left right and centre.
I thought people were being harsh on him with all the criticism but now rekn he should only play when we have injuries/suspensions and even then I’d like to see Miller get more chances.

Out: Hugo and Soldo

Hugo the sub
No one apart from Miller deserves a game from the VFL and we have key defence covered for now
-
We won hit outs 41-18 tonight, which translated into -7 at clearances, -4 on centre clearance and -3 on stoppage clearances. So what's the point of two ruckmen when dominance in hit outs means we lose clearance overall by 17?
Out: Soldo, Ralphsmith
In: Lynch, Lambert
-
Out:
Edwards med sub
Soldo
In
Lynch
Dow
Need Tarrant to wrestle Mackay
-
Would like to see em continue to play Balta fwd and second ruck. Would like to see Miller come in as the second big kpd
Of course Lynch to come back as well.
Carlton have the option to play Pittonet and DeKoning as the second ruck/fwd.
That would mean DeKoning McKay and Curnow playing fwd which will be a challenge.
The real problem is the big mids that always seem to get us and they have plenty in
Cripps, Kennedy Hewett, Carroll with Walsh and Cerra.
Contested ball and Clearances are again going to be a problem for us id say.
The smallest is Walsh at 184cm.
-
In - Lynch, Lambert and Banks (debut)
Out - Soldo, Ralphsmith and Edwards

agree
Miller is gonna be ok has some very good traits and his foot skills are excellent from all I’ve seen of him. He is currently our best player in the VFL team but our mids aren’t stopping the ball from coming in numerous times consecutively but he has stood tall from all the games I’ve seen.
I would be playing him ahead of Tarrant.
Balta shouldn’t be playing forward at all should only be defence. We need a settled defensive six that know each other’s thoughts and we shouldn’t change it for the rest of the season.

Agreed. We don't have the luxury of faffing around with experiments. We're more like the 2021 side where the wheels could fall off than the 2019-2020 sides that dominated.
Balta Grimes Gibcus
Vlastuin Broad Rioli
Lock that in and let them get primed for finals. If it means we have a problem to solve in the forward line then we can look at that in isolation. Don't rob Peter to pay Paul.

Ins: Ross and Castagna
Outs: take your pick
-
Out Soldo, Hugo
In Lynch, Lambert
Gibcus just had a week off so talk of a rest is premature.

Ross and Castagna?
Did you watch the VFL game?

From 7news tonight:
Dusty missed training today due to illness (not covid). So he's in a race against time to get well before Thursday night.
Edwards did little at training (in rehab according to my 'Spy') so could be in doubt but 7news said he is expected to play.
Lynch and Lambert trained fully and are both expected to play.

Don't play him if he's crook.
We did this with Astbury in 2018 PF, played him about 24hr after he got off a drip in hospital. Just a bad idea...

Richmond senior advisor Neil Balme was hopeful Martin would return on Wednesday and join teammates for a light run, ensuring he lines up at the MCG.
They expect to be boosted by the return of Tom Lynch, the forward having had three weeks to recover from an injured hamstring. Forward-midfielder Kane Lambert is a strong chance to force his way into the starting 22, having been the unused medical substitute last week.
Lambert has a chronic hip injury and the Tigers are desperate to nurse him through the season.
“That was the best thing to happen to him last week. We had him just in case and didn’t have to use him,” Balme said.
Jack Riewoldt is playing with an injured finger but continues to suit up.

Richmond has an embarrassment of riches compared to some clubs' injury lists, but the two who are on it – Tom Lynch (hamstring) and Dustin Martin (illness) – will cause some selection headaches. Given Carlton's ruck depth woes, it may be the week to omit Ivan Soldo to allow Lynch's return. Kane Lambert should be first cab off the rank to replace Martin, while Marlion Pickett, Jack Ross and Jason Castanga all wait in the wings.
Verdict: Lambert and Lynch in for Martin and Soldo.

Pickett played last week, so not sure why he'd be waiting in the wings.
Anyway:
Out: Clarke, Ralphsmith, Martin
In: Lynch, Lambert, Parker
We need the bigger bodies and tackle pressure this week.
-
Dimma in his presser today said Bolton plus a young player (non-debutant) who will come in for balance to play Dusty's role.
So who is the young player?
-
Maybe Sonsie? Oh, non-debutante. Dow maybe.
-
Out: Martin, Soldo
In: Lynch, Lambert
Can't drop Clarke after kicking 2
-
Maybe Sonsie?
It can't be Sonsie as Dimma said it's not a debutant.
Maybe Maurice Jnr?
-
From the training thread pics - Lynch, Lambert, Maurice & Mansell are in the squad. Ross was also in the training group today according to my 'Spy'. Also said no Dusty (obviously) & Soldo.
