With Prestia out and Judson/perhaps Hugo omitted, there should be a few VFL tigers looking to have a blinder today (RCD, Stack, Dow & perhaps Sonsie).
Your time starts now ;)
-
Cumberland turnover costs a goal inside a minute
-
Cumberland's gifted Geelong the momentum from the start with that dumb kick.
0 - 12
-
Geelong nails 2nd goal. Cats getting all of the footy.
-
Geelong 3 entries for 3 goals :help.
-
Geelong has a 3rd now. 3 in 5 minutes. Losing everything out of the middle.
-
Geelong player spun 360 and misses the ball = play on ::).
Yeah it's the way we play that is the reason for our free kick count :banghead.
-
Morris can't isolate Colina forward when he is still learning the game. If he doesn't mark it then it's a free Geelong rebound.
-
Geez our VFL listers today are woeful. Can't mark, can't handball, etc :help.
Mind you the whole team has been sloppy.
-
Finally we get a possession in our F50. Not pretty but Stack goals :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
Geel 3.4-22
-
Nice goal by stack
-
Stack really trying to make a statement here.
-
Street goals for us. Getting back in it.
-
Risky but actually good hands to burst through the Geelong zone. Stack takes a bounce in the middle and hits Street 25 out. Goal!
Rich 2.0-12
Geel 3.4-22
-
Arms out Cumberland; not try the chest mark which allowed the spoil.

Quarter time
Richmond 3.1-19
Geelong 5.4-34
Goals: Cumberland, Stack, Street.
Lucky to be this close. First 15 minutes couldn't get our hands on the ball. Stabilised in the last 15 mins.
-
5m pass paid a mark to Geelong and gifts them a goal ::)

Then the umpires guesses on the free to Ratouli and they get another charity goal

These bloody umps! :banghead
Then the umpires guesses on the free to Ratouli and they get another charity goal
"You know it's a free when the defender doesn't complain to the umpire"
Ummm Browny you're not allowed to complain otherwise it's 50 now days :facepalm
-
Stack cleverly paddles it forward under pressure then chips it off the ground soccer style to George 35 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.1-25
Geel 5.4-34
-
Aarts snap from 35 is touched on the line.
26 - 34
-
Stack is ready for a call up imho
-
Is anyone seeing anything in cat Cooper Stephens. Hes a good size has good speed. With our wingers Marlion an Kamdyn in their late 20s ... dont know but Ill follow him for the rest of this game.
-
Stack at HB into the corridor to Dow. It goes through his hands but he gathers it and chips to George who sprays the running shot but luckily he gets dumped after disposal. So gets another shot. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 5.2-32
Geel 5.5-35
-
Stack is ready for a call up imho
Has been good, but that play on their 50 just then - putting one arm for a tackle rather than body lining the man is why he's missing out.
-
Stack off with an ankle :(.
-
Terrible defending allowing that long kick to slip through 3 Tigers hands to the back for a Geelong goal :facepalm.
32 - 43
-
Contested ball in our F50 and Bauer gets the free for too high 40 out. Misses.

Miller drops a chest mark in the defensive goalsquare, runs over the footy and gifts Geelong a goal :P.
33 - 49

Banks long out of the middle. Contest at ground level in the pocket and Stack wins the HTB free 45 out on a 60angle. Across the face and rushed through.
34 - 49
-
Parker intercepts to Aarts across the arc to Dow 50 out. To the goalsquare. Spoiled to Henderson 20 out but his snap missing everything :P.
Had our chances this quarter. Not taking them.
-
RCD quick shot from 45 misses.
35 - 49
-
Half-time
Richmond 3.1 5.5-35
Geelong 5.4 7.7-49

Wet weather footy so a slippery ball. Last 10-15 minutes of that 2nd quarter was in our forward half but we couldn't make the most of the territory.
-
Great to see HTB frees to us are non existent in the VFL just like the AFL :banghead
Consistency :clapping

Stack backing up last week which is good to see. The cleanest Tiger out there.
Waits for forum meltdown if George is picked for the seniors next week if he adds to his 2 goals to half-time :-\.
Is anyone seeing anything in cat Cooper Stephens. Hes a good size has good speed. With our wingers Marlion an Kamdyn in their late 20s ... dont know but Ill follow him for the rest of this game.
17 possies, 1 goal and winning plenty of contested ball (9) today in the conditions. He's on the fringes at Geelong.
-
Im liking Cooper Stephens game. Moneyball potential job here.
-
Sun out now.
RCD long to the pocket inside 50 and Bauer wins the free 40 out. Across the face and misses.
36 - 49
-
Another soft free to Geelong in front of the sticks ::). No one knew which side the free was for so everyone stopped and allowed the Geelong player to run into an open goal ::).
36 - 55
-
Pathetic defending on the goal line. Samson going for the mark and not the punch through and one of our VFL listers allowed the Geelong ruck to mark :facepalm.
36 - 61
-
Miller punches the ball forward into the corridor to a Geelong player front and square for another goal them :P.
36 - 67
Game over in last 5 mins :banghead.
-
I see our VFL team as a development tool. Winning is important but developing players even more so.
-
Cumberland won't be at Punt Rd next year.
We get it back. Miller hits up Aarts 40 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 6.6-42
Geel 10.7-67
-
Not protecting the defensive side at stoppage.
Missed short pass in defence.
Give away a free.
Allow a short pass to a free Geelong forward despite time to set up defensively.
Schoolboy stuff :banghead.
-
Geez Mate Colina has a long way to go.
-
I see our VFL team as a development tool. Winning is important but developing players even more so.
We need a ressies for our ressies for Colina. Until he can do the basics of kicking and marking he shouldn't be playing yet.
A strong ressies team aids development. It can't be a charity game team.
-
Goal to them.
42 - 74
-
Stack to George to Aarts 30 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 7.6-48
Geel 11.8-74

-
Two HTB rules ::).

Parker to Henderson (called to play on immediately when he wanted to take the set shot ::) ). Finds Biggy in the pocket. Kicks the miracle goal from the pocket does Biggy :gotigers.

VFL Tigers blast past Cats with final-term blitz
After trailing by 27 points at three-quarter time, Richmond VFL stormed home with an eight-goal final term to defeat Geelong on Sunday afternoon at GMHBA Stadium.
By Brenton Mann
Richmond Media
26 June 2022
"Bring the same music as last week."
That was the directive Richmond VFL senior coach, Steve Morris, implored to his chargers as the Tigers made the trek down the highway to face Geelong on Sunday.
On a day where momentum swung like a pendulum, Richmond saved its best tune for the final set, raising the tempo to fever pitch with an eight-goal final that clinched a barnstorming 14-point win.
Trailing by 27 points at the final change, Richmond delivered last quarter performance bursting with heart and fire, the final score reading 16.7 (103) to 13.11 (89).
The Tigers overran the locals, a performance that was capped off with a debut goal to savour by Mate Colina.
Geelong burst out of the blocks with three goals in as many minutes. The Tigers sensed the urgency and went to work on getting the game played in the manner they wanted.
Richmond ratcheted up the heat, injected speed on the ball and utilised the one-on-one contests forward of centre.
Sydney Stack led the way in this regard, as the constant drizzle formed a layer of mist over the venue, Stack’s cleanliness and creativity led to Richmond's initial two goals.
Stack classily snapped the Tigers’ opening goal and then had a direct hand in skipper, Lachlan Street’s first goal.
The dynamism of Richmond’s forwards worried the Cats at ground level, with Noah Cumberland, Jason Castagna, Jake Aarts and Stack forever dangerous.
Cumberland slotted a major after the quarter-time siren, which pegged back the margin to a manageable 15 points at the first change.
Swiftly after the restart, Richmond surged the ball forward, with Stack soccering the ball into the waiting arms of Castagna.
The triple-premiership forward converted, then goaled shortly after, slicing the margin to just three points.
Geelong edged clear by 15 points as the half-time siren sounded on the back of a couple of defensive lapses by Richmond.
Coming out of the main break, the Cats jumped the Tigers with a clump of three quick goals once again, pushing the margin out to 31 points.
Senior Tiger Jake Aarts rose to prominence, bobbing up for two of the next four goals, with the Cats matching Aarts’ goals to hold a 33-point lead.
Bigoa Nyuon was swung forward after copping a heavy knock to the back and hip in the third term and had an instant impact.
The territory may have been foreign for Nyuon, but he slotted a vital goal after the three-quarter time siren to keep the Tigers in touch.
Nyuon found space inside 50 but was nearly in the construction site at the northern end of the ground when he snuck through beautiful set-shot goal, reducing the margin to 27 points.
The Tigers re-energized at the last break, blitzing the Cats from the opening bounce of the final term.
Castagna was the fire starter, nailing his third goal, injecting hope into the budding Tigers around him.
Cumberland produced arguably his best performance in the Yellow and Black, with a match-winning three goals in the final term to help guide Richmond to its win.
The third-year forward’s goal had Richmond bubbling, then did Mate Colina after snapping his first goal at the level.
With the ball bobbling around, 213cm Colina collected the ball at ground level and swung it onto his right boot. As the goal umpire arched his back, the big man was consumed by Yellow and Black.
Cumberland’s third goal got Richmond within three points, then Nathan Oakes read the flight of the ball superbly, marking unopposed 15 metres out.
Importantly, Oakes kicked the go-ahead goal as Richmond’s belief started to swell.
Cumberland’s fourth pushed the lead to 10 points, before Matthew Parker snapped his first as the lead grew to 16 points.
The Cats pegged one back, but then Jacob Bauer put the icing on the cake with a classy goal on the run.
GEEL 5.4 7.7 12.9 13.11 (89)
RICH 3.1 5.5 8.6 16.7 (103)

RCD in top 4 again

Nice numbers for Ryan to.

Re-watched the last quarter, a joy to watch :clapping
So much to like about the comeback, mainly due to contested and tough footy. Cumberland is slowly winning me over as he doesn't play selfish anymore- learning the Richmond Man way it seems. Stack was fantastic as was Mansell. In fact, Mansell as the lockdown small defender should be the norm moving forward. Big Ryan will be very good :shh

Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Sunday's 14-point comeback win over Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.
Jake Aarts (23 disposals, six marks, six clearances, two goals)
"Hard, tough, uncompromising game from him. He led us for contested possessions, took his opportunities in front of goal, and was really desperate when it counted. Fantastic effort from him."
Tyler Sonsie (22 disposals, six marks, three clearances)
"Tyler was solid. We'd like him to engage slightly more at stoppage, as he is at his best when he's in the contest and winning contested ball. But it was a decent game from him."
Sam Banks (20 disposals, five inside-50s, four marks)
"I thought it was a fantastic opportunity for Sam to get some midfield minutes. We saw that in the first half he was able to break lines and run and carry from inside, as well as what we've seen on the outside from him. He certainly was a contributor in the second half on the wing."
Riley Collier-Dawkins (19 disposals, five tackles, four clearances)
"Felt like it was an 'almost' game from Riley. He could have been cleaner with the footy and around stoppage, albeit on a tough day. He's close to breaking a game apart but we really want to see that from him in the coming weeks."
Rhyan Mansell (17 disposals, seven marks, five tackles)
"Stood up when it really counted. He had half a dozen crucial contests in the last quarter to thwart the opposition. He stood under high balls, he won contested balls at ground level, and I thought it was a fantastic game from him."
Will Martyn (17 disposals, five rebound-50s, four marks)
"Will was solid on the day. He's been in great form over the last couple of months and he was a solid contributor in a back six that really stood up on the day. He reduced the Cats' impact despite them having quite a lot of inside-50s."
Sydney Stack (16 disposals, six inside-50s, eight tackles, four marks, one goal)
"His game impact was quite high. We always feel as though Sydney plays his best footy when he's really engaged defensively, and eight tackles certainly highlights that fact. A great game from him."
Noah Cumberland (15 disposals, three marks, four goals)
"He's a really difficult match-up Noah, and he kicked the footy as well as I've seen him kick it all year. He took his opportunities, won contests in front of the footy, and he's in great form. He stood up when it really counted in the last quarter."
Ben Miller (14 disposals, 10 rebound-50s, three marks)
"Ben, like most of our backline, was quite solid without standing out on the day. He made sure Geelong's key forwards didn't have a huge impact on the game."
Jason Castagna (13 disposals, nine tackles, four inside-50s, three goals)
"I thought he was fantastic. He importantly took his opportunities in front of goal, but when we needed hard, tough footy in the last quarter he stepped in with a team-high nine tackles, and played his role really well."
Thomson Dow (13 disposals, six tackles, five marks)
"He had a solid game. There were some really pleasing aspects of his work-rate at times to outnumber and help out our backs, but I thought our mids got outworked at other times. So, the challenge for him is to improve that consistency moving forward."
Tom Brown (10 disposals, four marks, three rebound-50s)
"It's fantastic to see Tom start to take the game on. And anyone that watches him play would notice how clean he is. The challenge for him is to become more and more involved each week in our offence, and I think his aerial prowess is something that will continue to grow."
Samson Ryan (10 disposals, 34 hit-outs five tackles, four clearances)
"A really solid game from Samson. He had seven free kicks for and zero against, which was pleasing as it's something our rucks have been working on. To have 34 hit-outs and 11 contested possessions is pretty critical for a young ruckman, and he took a couple of good marks in behind the football."
Matt Parker (10 disposals, four tackles, one goal)
"Like a couple of our other wings, his work-rate was outstanding and at times wasn't rewarded. Time and time again, he was down in our back half helping out and getting forward as well. He was rewarded on the scoreboard in the last quarter."
Jacob Bauer (eight disposals, four inside-50s, one goal)
"Eight possessions and one goal certainly does not reflect his impact on the game. He was one of the standout key forwards on the ground. Whether he was 2v1 or 3v1, he continuously fought to bring the ball to ground. He played a really smart game and was crucial in keeping the ball in our forward half."
Bigoa Nyuon (seven disposals, five marks, one goal)
"We talk about taking our moments fairly often, and he certainly did that before three-quarter time. He was pretty sore after a big collision down back and he swung forward and was able to hit the scoreboard up there."
Mate Colina (five disposals, one goal)
"The goal of the day came from the big 213cm ruckman. It was fantastic to see him finish off that way and see his teammates really celebrate his first goal at VFL level for the club. He's an exciting player who continues to improve and is a much-loved Tiger."
