First two goals of the game with the breeze
Lighting hands in the contest inside 50 leads to Lachie Street snapping our opening goal, with the wind :gotigers.
Bigoa Nyuon traps a North defender inside 50, is rewarded with a stuff and eases through our second goal :gotigers.

Ryan and Aarts not playing VFL.
-
Poor defending. Knew the Norf player had to set it up into the wind yet we left the space open at the hot spot :facepalm. Lucky the Norf player misses from 20.
26 - 1
-
Repeat poor defending. Gifted a too easy mark to Norf 20m out.
Lucky again they miss a sitter.
27 - 2
-
Really ordinary last 5 mins. Sloppy and lacking structure forward of the ball. Just lucky the Roos are missing into the breeze.
27 - 3
-
Most of our top up players are complete duds
-
And that's why you don't play George in defence :help. Kick across goal misses the target and it's turned over. Just lucky again they sprayed the shot.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 4.3-27
North Melb. 0.3-3
Goals: Bauer, Nyuon, Olden, Street.
We had the breeze which the commentators are saying is pretty strong. Good first 15 mins when we kicked our 4 goals but the last 12 or so mins was slop.

Poor option and kick by Martyn to the wing. Turnover. North goal from it.

More slop.
6 kicks inside 50 fail to find a target.
Then Faimalo misses Mansell by foot and we overpossess by hand across HB until we turn it over and gift Norf a goal :banghead.

Martyn's kick to a contest at HB is turned over. They miss.

Wow this is some really dumb and unskilled footy :facepalm.
Goal to Norf.

RCD to Street for the centre clearance and George playing in front marks 45 out kicking into the wind. To the goalsquare. A snap by one of our VFL players goes across the face and misses everything.
Siren! We didn't score that quarter into the wind.

Gawd I hope our seniors don't play like this :help.
The only thing that looked AFL standard was RCD winning a couple of centre clearances. The rest from the team was barely Auskick standard :help. Lacking talls doesn't help either.
-
We get the first centre clearance but the handball misses the target to stuff up an open chance :facepalm.
Parker eventually gets it on the outside and runs to 40 but his shot misses.
28 - 24
-
Throw-in on the wing. Castagna wins it to RCD, hands off to Dow. It eventually gets back to RCD who runs inside 50 and kicks a great goal on the run :gotigers.
Rich 5.4-34
Norf 3.6-24
-
Two bad blues by our VFL players. One handballed straight to a Norf player 5m away then two spoiled each other receiving a handball :P
-
Our forward set-up is terrible. We have the wind and a free kick 55 out and we set up with Biggie one out against two Norf players :huh3.
-
George intercepts the mishandled ball by a Norf defender but his snap misses.
From the kick-in Banks intercepts and we finally find a marking target inside 50 with Bauer marking on the lead 35 out. Misses.
36 - 25
-
Mansell fouled after disposal. Downfield free to Bauer 70 out. Goes long and Maurice is tackled over the line for a rushed point.
37 - 25

Throw-in. Street gathers 55 out runs inside 50 and beautifully allows the breeze to curl the ball through the eye diddle diddle. Great Goal! :gotigers

We leave the back half open and Norf kick a goal against the wind. First at that end for the day.

Rich 7.7-49

Maurice in the centre and he gives away 50 (stand rule). Lucky the kick is OOTF.
-
Faimalo 3 bounces through the centre but he stuffs up his disposal. 3 good tackles (two HTBs not paid) leads to Maurice finding Elliot 40 out. Misses.
50 - 31
-
One of VFL players turns it over kicking across goal and gifts Norf a set shot goal against the breeze.
50 - 37

Our decision making and passes inside 50 are terrible.

VFL Tigers fight tooth and nail in win over Roos
Richmond had to combat a strong breeze and North Melbourne surging forward at will in the final term, to clinch a two-point victory at Arden Street on Saturday.
By Brenton Mann

16 July 2022
Playing to your strengths and celebrating those of your teammates were the key threads that bound Richmond for its round 17 clash with North Melbourne at Arden Street.
The Tigers took their lessons from the narrow pre-bye loss to Collingwood, by grinding out a thrilling two-point win over the Kangaroos.
Richmond had to combat the strong breeze and North Melbourne surging forward at will in the final term, the Tigers staunchly defended like their lives depended on it, the final score reading 8.10 (58) to 8.8 (56).
Lachlan Street oozed leadership throughout the day, slotting a game-high three goals. His third was uber important as it was Richmond’s only goal into the wind and in the nail-biting final term.
The Kangaroos piled on three goals after Street’s third major, as the anxiety levels started to rise. Richmond upped the ante around the ball.
Riley Collier-Dawkins kicked the goal of the day in the third term, showcasing his speed and power to goal on the run, and he was also the one that flicked the switch in the frantic last quarter.
Collier-Dawkins, Thomson Dow, Judson Clarke and Jason Castagna locked down through the midfield, keeping the ball in tight and edging it forward when the opportunity arose.
Clarke and Dow’s quick hands in tight released teammates into space, with Sam Banks the main beneficiary.
Banks, a native of the Apple Isle, knows a thing or two about playing in high winds and that became evident following his ball-busting goal in the third term.
The wiry wingman collected a mark on the outer wing, as the Roos’ defenders backed away, Banks took the space afforded to him, skated to 55 metres out and rode home a goal on the breeze.
Tom Brown was another burgeoning Tiger who had big moments in the final term and stood tall in most.
Brown’s ability to intercept in dangerous positions proved telling, taking another athletic mark over a defender for the second game running.
Rhyan Mansell showed his tenacity in a tight contest in Richmond’s come-from-behind win over Geelong, and the tenacious Tiger was at his staunch best again in the win over North Melbourne.
Mansell’s ability to cut angles, spoil, tackle and read the play allowed Richmond to rebound off turnovers between the arcs and thwart the Kangaroo’s offensive forays.
A blustery northerly gale welcomed the Tigers, who cashed in with the wind at their back in the first quarter, slamming on four goals in the opening 15 minutes.
Bigoa Nyuon and Street worked in tandem in the ruck, with Nyuon showing promise with his spring and deft touch at the centre bounce, and Street capitalising inside 50, snapping Richmond’s first goal.
Nyuon utilised his athleticism at ground level soon after, trapping a North defender holding the ball, then easing through his set-shot for the Tigers’ second major.
Jacob Bauer then stretched every fibre to out-mark two North Melbourne defenders 20 metres out from goal and kicked truly, signalling a slick start by the Tigers.
Hailing from Leongatha, Cam Olden showed how well he acclimatised to the unfavourable conditions, drifting home a goal on the breeze and the Tigers raced to a 26-point lead.
The Kangaroos found their feet in the back end of the opening term, trapping the Tigers in their back-half and peppered the goals.
North failed to slot a major but had importantly shifted the flow of the game by quarter time.
Kicking against the wind in the second term, Richmond struggled to move the ball with its trademark dash and dare, instead kicking it to North Melbourne’s spare which played into the home side’s hands.
Conditions made ball retention quite tricky, as the Kangaroos capitalised on the Tigers’ turnovers, nailing three goals, and holding Richmond scoreless.
The Tigers had their chances inside 50 but couldn’t bring the ball to ground and lock it in their forward half for a meaningful amount of time.
Richmond recaptured its mojo with the wind in the third term, and goals to Collier-Dawkins, Street and Banks ensuring the Tigers held a crucial 14-point buffer at the final change.
The Tigers held on in the last quarter to scrap out the win.

Banks should debut next. Brown showing good signs as well.
-
Would also play Mansell to lock down small forwards or try him in that role as a mid.

Just watched the replay- lots to like.
Biggie was great as the first ruck. His leap is so good at the center bounce.
Banks was very good
Parker was very good
Mansell was rock solid down back
Best game i have seen Brown play- looked fantastic!
RCD was brilliant in the middle
The rest were solid enough
Watch out for the improving Tylar Young. Improving every game as a key back. Would look at a rookie spot next year as he has only been playing for 3 years. Stands 196cm and is athletic.
-
When the hell is RCD going to get a go?
It is really obvious they have something against him.
It is sickening

Thanks WP 😵💫
When does his contract end do you know? We probably won’t see him for the dust, and I don’t blame him.
Good luck to him

Out of contract at the end of this season
And agree on your 2 points above
-
I feel like a lot of the games Ross has got should have gone RCD's way. Ross just doesn't have it by foot whereas RCD might. Play him inside as a Judd-sized mid. I feel like he'd chip in with goals from the midfield too. Oh well. I think we might be losing a good one here.
-
RCD could blossom into a really decent footballer somewhere else. Weve wrecked him. He should leave to save his footballing career. It makes me sick that blokes like Aarts, Castagna, Parker get games ahead of our kids. Its a disgrace.

VFL Report: Round 17
Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Saturday's two-point win over North Melbourne at Arden Street Oval.
Matt Parker (27 disposals, seven inside-50s, six tackles, six marks)
"Based his game on work-rate. He had a few really important contests in the last quarter and was a big reason why we were able to win the game in a tight one."
Tom Brown (26 disposals, nine rebound-50s, three marks, three inside-50s)
"He's going from strength to strength. He continues to grow each and every week. His offensive game has improved significantly and there's definitely some areas in his defence that we're seeing great growth in as well."
Riley Collier-Dawkins (25 disposals, six clearances, five inside-50s, one goal)
"I think it was his best game in a month. He was outstanding in the contest, had 13 contested possessions and certainly kicked the goal of the day in difficult conditions, it was an absolute beauty."
Jason Castagna (24 disposals, seven clearances, four tackles)
"Had a really good day in and around the contest. We used him as a mid to try and get his hands on the footy, and he clearly stood out in the contested areas of the game with 13 contested ball. He took a really important mark in our backline as well."
Sam Banks (20 disposals, six inside-50s, four marks, one goal)
"Kicked as good as goal as you'll see. He's a really smart player who does the team thing and and runs really good patterns. We're a better team when he's got the ball in his hands."
Rhyan Mansell (18 disposals, five rebound-50s, five marks)
"Didn't have quite as much of the ball as he's had in previous weeks, but I thought he was really influential, particularly in the last quarter when the game was there to be won. He's a player that the boys really enjoy running out alongside."
William Martyn (17 disposals, six rebound-50s, two marks)
"A solid game from Will without being outstanding. He had some really important contests, and he attacked the footy hard as always."
Judson Clarke (16 disposals, five inside-50s, four tackles)
"It was good to see him step into the contest, he had a couple of really good tackles as well as contest wins. He had 11 contested possessions, which for a player of his stature really highlights his willingness to get involved in the contest."
Thomson Dow (13 disposals, two clearances, two rebound-50s)
"Looked really good around stoppage. His challenge is to continue to grow his contest-to-contest running and get involved in our offensive chains. But, he's been really diligent around our stoppage work."
Maurice Rioli (11 disposals, three tackles, three score-assists)
"Had a tale of two halves. It was frustrating in the first half, he was playing his role really well, but the ball just wasn't going his way. So, we put him inside in the second half around the footy and he had a really big impact with his pressure which was outstanding, but also his contest wins and composure with the footy."
Bigoa Nyuon (nine disposals, 20 hit-outs, four marks, one goal)
"He had a really important role for us on the day, playing first ruck for a lot of the day, particularly at the centre bounce. He jumped all over the opposition, gave our midfielders first use of the footy, and took a really impressive mark inside-50."
Jacob Bauer (seven disposals, three marks, one goal)
"It probably wasn't a day for forwards, particularly tall forwards, but he'll work on a couple of things this week and we're looking forward to seeing him bounce back next week."
