That is an indictment on our list management and recruiting teams. Not good enough. We are fast tracking to be the next Hawthorn

I don't know. There's one team older than us and they're top of the ladder and gunning for yet another top 4 finish. That's a pretty convincing counterargument to me.
Our recruiting and list management teams built a dynasty out of the compromised GWS and GC drafts. Kinda genius really. Not saying they haven't blued more recently but it's not all doom and gloom in that area.
In fact it's more a team selection/match committee issue. If all the games received by Castagna and Aarts this year had gone to Sonsie, Cumberland and Clarke, I bet our average comes down a fair bit. (And that's just a start.)
The numbers reflect selected sides, not the whole list profile. Recruiters don't select the side. Ergo not really recruiters' fault that the selected side is so old. They are likely scratching their heads and rolling their eyes too.

No its not.
These players are above the average age. Who would you have cut before this season?
Jake Aarts
Nathan Broad
Josh Caddy (already gone)
Trent Cotchin
Shane Edwards
Dylan Grimes
Kane Lambert
Tom Lynch
Dustin Martin
Kamdyn McIntosh
Toby Nankervis
Marlion Pickett
Dion Prestia
Jack Riewoldt
Robbie Tarrant
Nick Vlastuin
Those above the average age are very good players entering in the season for the most part.

These are often bull tish stats. Once we lose Shedda, Jack and possibly Cotchin along with the much mentioned dead wood and replace it with another 4-6 draftees, well be one of the youngest lists.

Spot on.

Yep my thoughts exactly.
Two have to go minimum. Lambert and Shedda.
