RCD, despite another standout game in the VFL doesn't even gets named in the squad (again )
But Ross who hasn't played for just on month gets into the Squad. Dow plays well last week after a couple of average games in the VFL makes the squad

I'd be surprised if Ross plays..maybe the sub. Dow played well didn't he? You could mount an argument that they've promoted Dow over RCD for no reason, but it wouldn't be a really strong argument.
You've got to take into account that emergencies are named as cover for rotations more than anything else. They won't name 4 mids as emergencies because they are the best from the weekend...
Let's just see how we go.
-
Jack Ross got dropped then was injured and now is named in the 25 man squad. There’s no justifying it.

Is that right? I thought he was in the team then got injured at training. From memory, his last few games were reasonably solid.
-
If I was RCD id be sending the club an email tomorrow telling them Im retired then nominate for the national and psd.

💯 correct Aarts injured him at training nothing to do with form.
-
The selection is absolutely ridiculous. It’s gotten out of control

Agree 100%
We have a bunch of idiots running the show, getting close to done, can I still get in as a Pie supporter??

He’s missed 3 games, can come back through the 2’s. Had a cracker vs Cats amongst some ho hum games.
Hardly had a break out year.

After 3 flags in the past 5 years too. How did he get through the previous 37 years.

Our club will miss finsls 2 years in a row. You cabt give games to hacks and not reward good performance from young players in the reserves. RCD should leave yo save his career, Richmonds selection policies are not based on merit but on who are the coaches favorites. He deserved promotion this week, didnt get it. Hope he leaves and has a great career elsewhere.
-
Didn't watch the VFL game but how good was RCD? I can see him numbers which are impressive but honestly loads of them have big numbers, it was quite a hiding.

I’m not yet giving up on finals but Balmey stated that we admired the Cats for being able to get up year after year and pointed to them as aspirational for us.
They learn and improve each year - from the coach down.
I’m not seeing the same trajectory of learning and improving.
I’d much rather have our record than theirs but this might change in the next 5 years if we’re not careful.
-
Ins and outs aside what has bugged me is the lack of consistency when it comes to structure and it seems they have no idea about how we get beat in clearances and c/p failing that they are ignoring it or cant bring themselves to drop players to address it.
Clearly miller Tarrant and Balta would be logical matchups for Hipwood Daniher and McStay.
Going by past performances Grimes is ideal for Cameron.
They have clearly had a liking for three tall fwds but never stick to it what an opportunity it would have been for Gibcus to get another game in a new role.
Nankervis is clearly injured they need to rest him imo.
I think a bit of denial is going on and it pains ya to see they cannot make hard decisions on what are players the coaches have got very close to.
RC-D well why not Both RC-D and Ross its not as if players are in good form or we are regularly winning we need to at least attempt to address this area.
Ah well what did we really expect it has been clear that they find it too hard to make calls for ages now.
-
I was hoping to see Gibcus back after a rest at least
-
So Ralphsmith & Soldo out, Lynch & Ross in. Nank must be feeling ok.

:help
Cannot believe MRJ didn't make the final team
We desperately need his defensive pressure and speed
As for Ross, absolutely no surprise at all
-
Rioli should be a in for me lifts our game.
-
Dunno why they dropped Soldo instead of 'resting' Nank.
Nank was putrid last week. Soldo a bit bigger for Oscar
-
Match Committee have been ordinary and perplexing with their team selections in recent weeks and tonight is no exception. Playing too many defenders and the same players out of position while ignoring others who are better for our structure.
No Maurice applying forward pressure is another gift to the opposition.
Why drop Soldo who was decent in the ruck last week against the tall McInerney?
So we're going to play Balta as 2nd ruck because we don't want to drop an excess tall defender?
Finally, while it's good we've added another inside mid, Ross hasn't played for 3-4 weeks. Why not play RCD who found some form in the ressies and racked up 32 possies?
-
Who is in match committee that picks the team every week?

Great question
From what I've been told it is Dimma and the line coaches
-

Soldo moving like he’s on stilts

Nank was hardly moving at all by comparison. I think his knee is troubling him.
Best to rest him in case we make finals imo
-
Dow, Mansell and Soldo playing ressies.
So Maurice must be the sub today.

Agree with WP. Maurice should be in the 22 for his forward pressure and Dimma and match committee's team selections have played their part in the past month or so's costly losses and draw. The team's structure is off and unbalanced and we're paying for it.
-
Team structure would've had little to do with the last 2 results.
Lacking on field leadership.
-
Keep picking the same team and wrong structure each week and you get the same failed rests.

Agree.
-

In part yes.
But team selection in particular playing blokes out of position has cost us the last 2 weeks
-
No Soldo in the ruck against McInernry. Relying on Nank who is carrying an injury.
No Maurice for forward pressure.
Balta not played in defence. He's a key back Dimma!
Playing the same midfield that is getting smashed. If we're going to lose at let play the cubs to give them experience or at least to see if they show something at this level.
