Post by: one-eyed on August 06, 2022, 10:36:35 PM
Vlastuin (ribs) and McIntosh (reported) potential forced outs?

Fire away with your changes?

Mansell for Vlas if he’s out. Think Byrne jones played out the game so I suspect kmac won’t have any case to answer.

Otherwise I’d bring in Shedda as the sub for Castagna.

Not sure id make any other changes to team as it stands.

KMac should be fine surely but just in case:

Out:
Castagna sorry mate you're done
Vlastuin only if too sore.
KMac susp

In
Edwards as Medi sub for George
Dow or RCD for Floss, shuffle the backline around
Ralph for KMac

Ditto for me , tho with McEvoy and Reeves I wouldn't be surprised if Soldo comes in and Miller goes back for Vlastuin if he's not fit.

Ins: Mansell, Edwards

Outs: Vlastuin, Ross

George stays because they won't him drop again and his work in the back half when he was down there wasn't too bad, by no ,emas good but not terrible

Out: Vlastuin (inj), Castagna
In: Edwards, Stack (sub)
If Nick gets up Edwards for George
Sampson Ryan must be close if they want another ruckman.

Team Tips:

Nick Vlasutin is in doubt to face the Hawks after copping a knee to the side against Port Adelaide in another blow to Richmond’s back six already missing Dylan Grimes. Shane Edwards should come in for Vlastuin after the veteran was managed over the weekend, although Riley Collier-Dawkins and Jake Aarts put their hands up after strong VFL outings. Expect the Tigers to otherwise stick with the side after their big 38-point win over the Power.

Oh Goodie does this mean your prepared to give a reason why. No i didn't thinks so.

Lets debate this im happy to tell you why i think those changes should happen and im happy to tell you why such underperformers lately like Edwards should not get a game.

Cmon what is your ins and why. Do you have the courage of your convictions.

Out Floss
In Stack

Castagna out as the sub
Ralphsmith in as the sub

I think quick players that can provide a lot of run (like MRJ did) are perfect for the sub .. as long as they aren't named Castagna

Dropping Short seems absurd to me. The only thing more ridiculous is your suggestion that Baker should be on thin ice.

Out - Short, Castagna, Vlastuin inj.

Claw, just out of interest, could or should Banks play at Back pocket.
I presume you're suggesting he's a replacement for Vlastuin at half back and I note you have Stack at back pocket but I really want Baker on ball but can understand with Short in the guts we need someone reliable ie quick, defensive, good decision making, good disposal in that spot.

I also note that Stack has been injured and not doing a lot in the VFL. Think both Brown and Banks have been getting better reviews from Morris.

Sadly Brown is way off from making a debut as his form is a concern, notably his desire for the contest. Banks is enjoying a good first season but I am not convinced he is ready for the bigger bodies just yet. Stack has returned from injury and was excellent on the weekend- he could come in to play multiple roles. My thoughts and will be interested in what Claw has to say.

Out Vlastuin and Castagna
In Banks and RCD

Banks to play off a half back stuff
RCD to play in the middle

Its time to send Short back into defence too imho.

Castagna is not included in 'outs' as he was a medi sub.

In the Mix: Round 22

Without an obvious replacement for Nick Vlastuin (ribs), the Tigers may have to shuffle the magnets somewhat. Ben Miller has been a floating tall for the past few weeks across all three lines, but may be needed for a permanent defensive role, opening the door for the recall of Ivan Soldo. Kamdyn McIntosh was thrown into defence after Vlastuin's injury, with medi-sub Jason Castagna moving into a wing role, which is another option. Riley Collier-Dawkins (30 disposals, 12 clearances) was outstanding in the VFL, while Hugo Ralphsmith (21 and a goal) could fill the wing role if required and Shane Edwards (general soreness) should be available for selection.

Verdict: Soldo for Vlastuin, with Miller pushed to defence. Edwards to replace Castagna as sub.

No way should we bring Soldo in. Nank + Miller/Balta is working well.

KMac did well in the backline I thought. Dow + RCD to come in for George and Floss.

Short to the wing.

One change - Edwards for Vlaustin.

Castagna was the 23rd man - so is not an official 'out'

People need to understand how the medi sub works

Nick Vlastuin remains a chance to face Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday after suffering a rib injury in the win over Port Adelaide last Saturday night.

Veteran Shane Edwards is expected to return to take on the Hawks after being rested following his 300th game in round 20.

Dimma also said Mansell was in consideration. Depends on where we play Kmac. Dimma was happy with Kmac last week filling in  for Vlastuin's role when Floss went off.

Hopefully the MC doesn't do something stupid like drop Maurice for Sheds.

Anyway, expecting a straight swap of Edwards for Floss if the latter doesn't play. If Floss is somehow right by Sunday then I'd just swap the sub (Sheds for George).

From the training photos: Mansell, Ralphsmith, Stack and Aarts were with the main group.

Also Daniel and Maurice Rioli were absent as they were up in the Tiwi Islands for Willie Rioli's father's funeral.
