No Cumberland?

^this.

Not named in the emergencies either. Did he pull up with something at training today?

Also a bit light on defensively. Would have included 1 more tall given Miller will need to have spells in the ruck.

Like Miller in the side. Not sure why mansell is getting a game rd 1? Have I missed something ? No Cumberland is absolutely baffling. No word of him being injured…. Absolutely shocked

Don’t think we should have picked graham coming off literally 0 match simulation all pre-season.

No Cumberland your kidding me was our best small forward back half of the year Mansell instead no sense at all even Clarke  who was good preseason.I hope we're not getting to cute with our selection.

No sub named?  When does that happen?  Does the sub have to come from the emergencies list or could we name anybody?

I wonder who could be replaced in that forward line with a more appropriate player ;D

Will wait for some news on Cumberland before I bring out my pitchfork

Based on how it’s been since I can remember the rule being introduced. It’s announced with final teams like an hour before the game and has to be one of the emergencies listed.

Cumbo named in the vfl practice game tomorrow so no injury there. Pretty baffling decision to pick both graham and mansell ahead of him. Prob a reaction to just how easily Melbourne were walking it out of our forward line in the praccy game. Brought graham and mansell in for extra tackling and pressure.

Shocked about Cumberland

But the rest makes sense to me

Clarke or Ross will be the sub I reckon

Reckon if you want forward pressure or are concerned about the last practice game that the logical choice isn’t dropping Cumberland.

Time will tell who actually plays forward tomorrow and how they go but I reckon the kid is stiff.

We're not giving our sub choice away. All four have been named in our VFL squad.

I am amazed people think Cumberland should be in that forward line. Mansell trained as a small forward this off season.
We need someone who can at least look interested in locking the ball in our forward line.

It's a strong side. Tarrant and Cumberland are only two who I think genuinely can make it better. Maybe Sonsie but it's a strong midfield.

I like Cumberland but maybe some confidence in front of sticks is needed before 100k. Happy to back match committee with a fit list.

100% I’m just trying to find some reasoning even if I don’t agree with it.

Our practice match against Melbourne probably made the match committee look to players who are going to play our way and apply the pressure that’s required.

I like the inclusions. Miller in was the better decision than Young.

I’m a fan of Mansell so I have no issues with his inclusion and it’s good to see Pickett and Graham in the side too.

If we play our way we should win but if we don’t then it will be a very embarrassing first round opener.

I don't think the practice match means anything.

Shocked about Cumberland. Graham and Mansell shouldn't be playing IMO.

At the end of the day, we aren’t missing any stars or super critical players.

It’s close to full strength.

No excuses really.

Why shouldn’t he be in it? He kicked 20 odd goals from 7 games last season and was lively at ground level, hard at it and applied good pressure.

Why on earth is he the most obvious omission for us?

True and it’s round one. It won’t be our 22 in September.

Differences of opinion are what makes a forum of course

FWIW I like Cumbo and think he should be starting.

But if we lose, I’m tipping it will be because our defence gets opened up.

Don't want to hear anyone talking about Geelong and how they don't play kids. We have become far worse.

Mansell must be in to do a specific shutdown job on either Saad or Docherty.

My one concern with the team selection is we've brought in a few such as Graham, Short, Pickett who haven't played any practice matches and will likely be underdone.

Agreed, if we lose this will be all everyone talks about and if we win it will get swept under the rug

Yeah, me too. I wonder what Beaker did (or didn't do) to fall out of favour over the break?

Its simple those in charge are desperately seeking ways to keep on playing favorites.
