Bump.
Just started.
11 AFL-Tigers including Hugo and Miller.
-
Cumberland across to Ross 50 out. His kick goes to the goalsquare where Bradtke takes the contested mark. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
NB 0.0-0
-
Clarke through the centre kicks nicely to the fat side where Faimalo leads and marks. Chips to Tedcastle. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 2.0-12
NB 0.0-0
-
Ross taps it to bypass his opponent in the centre hands off to Clarke who finds White but he tries to much rather than give it off and his shot misses.
We get it back from the kick-in and Bradtke marks. Goal! His 2nd. :gotigers
Rich 3.1-19
NB 0.0-0
-
Cumberland tackling really well
-
White intercepts on 50 the poor Bullant kick out of defence. He kicks to the square. The Bullants rush it through and are penalised for deliberate for being outside the 9m and under no pressure. Freebie shot for Lachie Johnson = goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.1-25
NB 0.0-0
-
Another poor defensive clearing kick by the Bullants is swept up by Miller who runs to 50 and dobs it :gotigers
Rich 5.1-31
NB 0.0-0
-
The Bullants are actually winning the centre clearances and this time they get an easy mark and goal from one.
31 - 6
-
Another bad defensive turnover by the Bullants. It gets eventually to Ross in the pocket who dodges an opponent and then snap one through :gotigers.
Rich 6.1-37
NB 1.0-6
-
Umpiring heavily favouring them.
-
Clarke to Dow who finds Tedcastle. Oddly tries passing it across to Hugo rather than taking the shot and it's spoiled. Chance gone.
We get it back. Street hits up Bradtke on the lead but it's a free off the ball to the Bullants. Another blown chance.
Bullants go down the other end. El Nour takes a good defensive mark but makes the old school sin of kicking across the goal and turns it over. Lucky the 'Ants miss a sitter.
37 - 7
-
Umpiring heavily favouring them.
Like yesterday, Richmond players don't have a head to earn too high frees or dangerous tackles.
-
End to end transition and Bradtke kicks his 3rd :gotigers
Rich 7.1-43
NB 1.1-7
-
Great to see we have a few guys looking sharp and putting their hands up so far. Cumberland, Ross and sonesie all looking good.
-
A Bullant runs off the bench trying to be a hero and goes straight for Cumberland.
Melee time.

-
We may pull some AFL-listed players off at half-time given it's only 5 days from the Pies AFL game.
-
Throw-in at HF. Good second effort in the ruck by Biggie and kick to Bauer who outbodies his opponent and marks 15 out directly in front. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 8.1-49
NB 1.1-7
-
Sonsie across to Dow across to Ross who hits up Bradtke on the lead. Acute angle. Misses.
50 - 7
-
OOTF by the Bullants. Brinley long to the square but it's rushed through.
51 - 7
Not sure what Biggie was doing there lol.
-
McDonagh long to the hot spot. Bauer almost takes a speckie. Causes the spill and Bradtke crumbs out the back to kick his 4th :gotigers.
Rich 9.3-57
NB 1.1-7
-
Sloppy last couple of minutes. Poor disposal breaking down our chains of possession.
57 - 8
-
Frees: 7 - 14 ::)
-
Kicking inside 50 rivalling the quality of their afl counterparts this quarter.
As I'm typing much better result. Bauer has it
-
Finally, some clean and composed footy in the last 10 minutes. Street finds Bauer. Misses.
58 - 10
-
Kicking inside 50 rivalling the quality of their afl counterparts this quarter.
Yep. Last 10 mins especially has been horrible. Playing down to their level.
-
At both levels we need to learn how to tackle and not give away a free kick
-
Street from 55 and Bradtke takes the pack mark by the point post. Goal! :gotigers
That's 5 for him.
Rich 10.4-64
NB 1.4-10
-
At both levels we need to learn how to tackle and not give away a free kick
Agree pmac. We need to learn to pin the arm too. We're allowing the opposition to still dispose of the ball in the tackle.
-
Half-time
Richmond 7.1 10.4-64
N.Bullants 1.1 1.4-10
Goals: Bradtke 5, Bauer, Miller, Ross, L.Johnson, Tedcastle.
-
Bradke 5 on debut in a half? Great start
-
Bradke 5 on debut in a half? Great start
He looks like he knows how to kick a goal and just be in the right spots at the right time
-
Bradley tearing it up with 5 in a half, looks the goods in the VFL. Hard to say if he is ready for the firsts though. Looks to have talent but I’m not sure if he is hardened enough for the big time, but certainly has talent & size. Maybe he can get a game later this season.

-
Aside from Bradtke, this has also been Biggie's best game I've seen. Doing well in the ruck and also intercepting as a follower a kick behind the play.
-
This 3rd quarter has started like yesterday's. We've come out asleep.
-
Poor defensive clearing kick by the Bullants goes to Ross who kicks across to Bauer on the lead 35 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 11.4-70
NB 2.5-17
-
Umpiring is an absolute joke. Perfect tackle there paid as dump tackle.
-
So, we're now not allowed to tackle ::).
Ump goal to the Bullants.
70 - 23
-
Frees: 10 - 20 ::)
-
Can see why Cumberland is not playing. Does some stupid things. Just not smart. Just cost us a goal.
-
Cumberland got frustrated there. He was held (no free) then gave away a free plus 50.
Another gifted goal to the Bullants.
70 - 29
-
Cumberland snap bounces into the point post. Throw-in.
Miller contests the ruck and gets the free for too high. Set shot 20 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 12.4-76
NB 4.5-29
-
On another note what is with the vfl schedule. Game 5 days before an afl game. Afl have no idea and it's a blight on the vfl
-
It was a clear free kick to Miller.
Campbell Brown: "Didn't seem much in it."
Yeah sure Browny :lol.
-
Nice leaping mark by Brindley at HB.
We get it forward. Loose ball and Street gathers and snaps a goal :gotigers.
Rich 13.4-82
NB 4.6-30
-
Could Biggy come in for Broad?
-
Lazy by us. The switch was on and no one ran to the wing to receive. That's why we turned it over.
-
Free and 50 paid to Hugo on the siren. Misses.
83 - 36 at 3QT.
-
3/4 time
Richmond 7.1 10.4 13.5-83
N.Bullants 1.1 1.4 5.6-36
Goals: Bradtke 5, Bauer 2, Miller 2, Ross, Street, L.Johnson, Tedcastle.
We've been pretty ordinary since halfway through the 2nd quarter. Just going through the motions.

Could Biggy come in for Broad?
Doesn't play Broad's role though. Mind you no one else today does either.
-
Cumberland injured it seems. Trying to do too much out of the centre. Ankle
-
Noah you just kick it first option and get the centre clearance. Don't try three goes at it.
He may be hurt too (ankle) from the tackle he copped.
-
Great gather at his toes by Dow. Goes long to Lachie Johnson but he can't mark and it's a point.
84 - 37
-
Another goal to the Bullants courtesy of the umps.
84 - 43
-
Sonsie just needs to do the simple things.
-
Not giving the ball back on the full is 50, umpire ::).
We get the goal anyway to Hicks :gotigers.
Rich 14.6-90
NB 6.8-44
-
Sonsie just needs to do the simple things.
Yep. Percentage play was just take tackle and the ball-up.
-
Great footpass by McDonagh to Bauer. Goal! His 3rd. :gotigers
Rich 15.6-96
NB 6.8-44
-
Centre Clearance. Biggie to Hicks to Hugo to Clarke on the run misses.
97 - 44
-
Sonsie snap misses.
98 - 44
-
In the back = no free.
High on Ross = no free.
These umps :facepalm.
-
Umpire 44 should be umpiring the U10s.
-
And then a bull crap deliberate call. No wonder players and fans get peed off.
-
Another goal to the Bullants via the umps (free + 50)
98 - 50
-
Frees: 20 - 31 ::).
-
Good forward pressure forces the turnover and White goals :gotigers.
Rich 16.8-104
NB 7.9-51
-
We've got 3 talls up forward. With the 666 rule, just kick it to them Sonsie rather than going for the precise handball.
-
Our tackling has been pathetic today.
-
Bradtke plays from behind way too much.
Good result, plenty to work on. Lucky we we're not playing a half decent side.
-
That last play summed up our game after the midway point of the 2nd qtr. Overuse of handball and then missing open targets.
Anyway, won by 47 points.
-
Final Score
Richmond 7.1 10.4 13.5 16.8-104
N.Bullants 1.1 1.4 5.6 8.9-57
Goals: Bradtke 5, Bauer 3, Miller 2, Ross, Street, L.Johnson, Tedcastle, Hicks, White.
Good first 1.5 quarters. Rubbish for the rest of the game.
-
Beau Tedcastle looks a likely small forward type- the one we would swoop on mid year :shh
Biggie, Bauer, Clarke, Banks, Sonsie, Bradtke, Hugo and Ross all very solid. Dow and Millar = not bad. Disappointing performance from Cumberland though.
-
Why didn't S Green play does anyone know?

VFL Tigers' first-term blitz seals win
By Brenton Mann
Richmond Media
26 March 2023
Richmond VFL has kicked off its 2023 campaign with a 47-point win over the Northern Bullants at the Swinburne Centre on Sunday.
After a seven-goal blitz in the first quarter, the Tigers went on to register nine goals across the final three quarters, the final score reading 16.8 (104) to 8.9 (57).
Richmond struck early and often in the opening term to inflict maximum damage.
The Tigers blood four VFL debutants in Harrison White, Beau Tedcastle, James Trezise and ex-Bullant, Mutaz El Nour.
Kaelan Bradtke was gracing the turf for the first time in the Yellow & Black and he sparked his side with three goals in the first quarter.
The Corowa product slammed through his fourth goal five minutes into the second term, pushing Richmond’s lead out past eight goals. Booting five goals in the first half, he is just as adept once the ball hits the ground as he is in the air.
The Tigers increased their lead more subtly in the second quarter, slotting three goals and holding the Bullants goalless, as the host’s lead edged its way to nine goals.
Jacob Bauer was a handy foil for Bradtke, as the duo exerted robust aerial presence in the front half.
Bauer was more prominent in the second term, jagging a goal and showcasing his spring and skill.
The key forward slotted his second goal early in the third term after a bullet pass from Jack Ross stuck in Bauer’s gecko grip.
Ross was the dominant midfielder on the ground and oozed AFL presence.
Bigoa Nyuon was another Tiger who caught the eye with the way he carried himself on the field. He assumed the role as No.1 ruckman with aplomb, whether that be with his tap work, follow-up at ground level or helping backward of centre.
The Bullants made their move with a three-goal burst, which had their supporters in full voice.
Goals to Ben Miller and Lachlan Street swung the momentum back in Richmond’s favour, before the Bullants hit back.
The Tigers then had a shot at goal after the three-quarter time siren via Hugo Ralphsmith, much to the chagrin of the vocal Bullants on the hill under the scoreboard.
Unfortunately for Richmond and Ralphsmith, the sherrin veered the wrong side of the goal post, with the Tigers leading by 47 points at the final change.
It was three goals apiece in a scrappy final term, the result never really in doubt.
RICH 7.1 10.4 13.5 16.8 (104)
BULL 1.1 1.4 5.6 8.9 (57)
Goal Kickers:
Richmond: Bradtke (5), Bauer (3), Miller (2), White, Tedcastle, Street, Ross, Johnson, Hicks

Disappointing from Cumberland today. He's a mile off AFL selection IMO.
-
I liked Biggies game today. Looks to have improved a lot.
Had a stint in the ruck too has an awesome leap.
-
Disappointing from Cumberland today. He's a mile off AFL selection IMO.
Probably lost interest.
How many goals does he have to kick to keep his spot in the 1s?
I hate to say it, but ... SHEESH!

He was good last season when he got the opportunity but it was earned.
I’m against gifting players senior selection unless it’s absolutely necessary due to unforeseen circumstances or injury.
If he’s not willing to do the little things at VFL level then he shouldn’t be given the right to the jumper.
It must be held to a high standard otherwise your rewarding mediocrity

I'm not sure it was earned, was it? I don't remember him lighting it up in the VFL last year to grab his spot. He wouldn't have been gifted a game in round 1 either; he would have earned it from his play last year. Moreover, the only reason given for his omission is that "he is a similar player to Dusty and we can't play both in the same side". I haven't heard anyone question his attitude.

I liked Biggies game today. Looks to have improved a lot.
Had a stint in the ruck too has an awesome leap.
I thought Biggies' game today was the real bonus. His ruck work was excellent & a real surprise, I've never seen him in ruck contests before & he dominated like it was second nature!
Miller doesn't have the second ruck role all to himself anymore, watch out for Biggie! :clapping

Good to hear. My dad said similar - was apparently leaping a bloody metre.
Not sure what his role is going forward though. You'd think he's behind Gibcus and evidently behind Young. With Balta looking OK we might be sorted for a while down back with talls.

VFL Report: Round 1
Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Sunday's Round 1 win over the Northern Bullants at the Swinburne Centre.
Jack Ross (29 disposals, 13 marks, six inside-50s, six rebound-50s, one goal)
"Looks above the level every time he plays VFL. Couldn't have asked for more from him in terms of attitude, and his game impact was extremely high, mainly from a wing, and half-back late in the game.
Sam Banks (23 disposals, 10 marks, three inside-50s)
"He found a lot of the footy on the wing and played minimal minutes at half-back as well, which is great for his development to play in a couple of different positions. He is brilliant with the footy in hand when in space, and that was no different on the weekend."
Tyler Sonsie (21 disposals, eight contested possessions, three inside-50s)
"His game on the weekend was another solid step towards full fitness for him. He did miss a bit of pre-season and he's starting to get his touch back and fitness back. Hopefully, it won't be long until we see him out playing with the AFL side."
Thomson Dow (17 disposals, six clearances, three marks)
"Was really solid for us on the weekend in and around stoppage. We'd really like to see him improve his game around the ground, but his clearance work and contest work for us is always of high value and high importance."
Bigoa Nyuon (17 disposals, 30 hit-outs, six marks, three clearances)
"Was outstanding on the weekend. He had a game-high 30 hit-outs and he was a real presence in and around the footy with second efforts, but also towering over his opposition in the air. Hopefully, that was a breakout game for him in 2023 and sets the standard at a very high level for him this season."
Judson Clarke (16 disposals, five inside-50s, four marks)
"Looked really good on the day. His finishing skills probably didn't match what we know he's capable of, but he certainly got into really good positions and was open a lot more than we were actually able to use him. So, I'm certain if he runs those patterns in future weeks he's going to get some rewards on the scoreboard as well."
Hugo Ralphsmith (13 disposals, three marks, two rebound-50s)
"Hugo started the game at half-back and went to a wing, and I thought he had a really solid first half despite being heavily tagged. He finished the game playing as a high half-forward in a bid to expose him to a couple of different roles that we may need replaced at AFL level in the not-to-distant-future, and I thought his application was really good."
Kaelan Bradtke (10 disposals, six marks, five goals)
"He really stood out in the first half, kicking five first-half goals. He's a work in progress, but he's extremely talented. He'll continue to develop his understanding of our structures and the style of footy that's required to play at the elite level, but it was a really pleasing start from him."
Noah Cumberland (10 disposals, five tackles, two marks)
"Had a bit of an indifferent game. I thought offensively, he didn't have the impact that we would expect of him, and at times, his defence was inconsistent. But, highlighted by his five tackles, I thought he really did step in at times, and the opposition certainly felt him when he was in and around contests at times."
Jacob Bauer (eight disposals, six marks, three inside-50s, three goals)
'Was on managed minutes having missed a good portion of the last four to six weeks. I thought there were times where he tried to mark when he probably could have brought it to ground as a key forward, but overall, I thought his return game was a really good one. He hit the scoreboard heavily with three goals and probably could have had a couple more as well. So, I'm looking forward to that being a stepping stone into the coming weeks."
Ben Miller (seven disposals, 17 hit-outs, two marks, two goals)
"He's the ultimate utility/swingman and that was no different on the weekend. He played mainly as a key forward, but it was in the ruck that he really showed his authority. I'd like to see him have more of an impact when playing forward, but I thought he did play his role pretty well and also hit the scoreboard with two goals."

Why didn't S Green play does anyone know?
Anyone?
Not sure, pmac. He was named at CHB on the teamsheet and was apparently at the ground watching but didn't play. As a result, some are speculating that he might be debuting this week which would be a massive shock. More likely he's picked up a niggle or something. He did spend time during preseason where he was in rehab.
