Every draftee from the past three years rated at your club

Good drafting is one of the keys to success – so what’s your club’s recent record like? We’ve rated every player drafted in the past three years and looked at who can have an impact in 2023.

RICHMOND

2020

Category B Rookie: Mate Colina – 1.5
National Pick 40: Samson Ryan – 3
National Pick 51: Maurice Rioli – 5.5
SSP: Rhyan Mansell - 4

2021

National Pick 9: Josh Gibcus – 6
National Pick 17: Tom Brown - 3
National Pick 28: Tyler Sonsie - 5
National Pick 29: Sam Banks – 3
National Pick 30: Judson Clarke – 4.5

2022

Mid-Season Pick 10: Jacob Bauer – 2
National Pick 49: Kaleb Smith – 2
National Pick 55: Steely Green – 2.5
Rookie Pick 12: Seth Campbell – 2
Rookie Pick 26: Tylar Young – 4
SSP: Kaelan Bradtke – 2

The Tigers went hard on the 2021 draft as they secured five of the first 30 picks and there is some serious talent among those. Key defender Josh Gibcus had a strong debut season last year and “looks comfortable” as part of the Richmond defensive system. Tyler Sonsie also made a solid start to his AFL career as he played seven games in 2022 and showed he can “find the footy” and “add pressure to the senior players”. Maurice Rioli Jr is continuing to develop nicely in his third AFL season and can “create something out of nothing” and pile on forward-half pressure.

The people doing these ratings have about as much idea as Christian does before Shocking or Sooky 2 tell him how many weeks each MRP case deserves.

WTF are they rating them out of? If it's 10 then Sonsie is a bit stiff to be a 5.

Actually don't answer. Don't wanna know.

Don't care

Reckon its not too far off the mark for the moment.

Funny if they had been higher people here would applaud it but when it doesnt fit their ideas of how good our kids are its rubbish.

Personally i think its way too early to be rating kids from just two seasons ago. 6 of them on those lists are only starting this year.

On the money for me but too hard within 2 years.

3-5 years would be an interesting assessment.

My issue with these rankings is these 2 journos plus McGuane would not have seen anything of the likes of Banks,  Brown so how can they rate them at all?

As for the 2022 group, ridiculous trying to rank them

So it is whatever from me
