Good to see Sarge making a quick comeback although surprised he played forward when we've tried to turn him into a CHB. Maybe we are still be cautious with his collarbone. Then again he has always appeared to be a natural forward. Wonder if he'll replace Staff at FF this week.
Other than that a bit disappointed not to see more RFC players listed in the best when a Richmond loss would open up spots for our young blokes playing in the VFL.
Coburg now up to third on the VFL ladder so well done to Andy Collins.

Poor Sarge too a mark in the first and slid shoulder first into the fence. We thought uh-oh but he got up and got on with the job. I reckon he was pretty cautious with his shoulder today.

jackson spent a lot of time on the HBF and I thought he did alright - his disposal was a lot better than it's been in the past.

A question from a country supporter, how does Limbach look? Is he still pretty raw, or is he not far off a debut?
Also good to see Howat in the best, the other good part was the 7 tackles along with the bag of possies.
Schulz looks very composed and cool in defence when he actually plays there, I agree that they have to keep using him there. Maybe replacing Gasper, Gas is a good stopper, but those skills aren't good enough for the 'tempo' game that is being played.

Strange that you and I are among the few that see it that way. It might have worked on the stage in 'My Fair Lady' but i don't know about the football field.

Re: Limbach - I have to say I am surprised Limbachs played the last 3 weeks in the Coburg seconds. He had a bad game against W'stown in the firsts on Mothers day but prior to that had been going well.
Size wise he is still very lean but he has excellent skills (though the goal kicking is a bit "iffy" at the moment ;D). Good on the lead with good hands.
He needs to establish himself in the Coburg seniors and if he can do that should play seniors this season
Also good to see Howat in the best, the other good part was the 7 tackles along with the bag of possies.
Don't let the bag of possies fool you because as I have said stats can be deceiving IMO. It was his best game without a doubt but.......
Howat had 23 kicks and I reckon at least 5 of them were direct kicks to the opposition = turnovers.
His tackling was very good though

He is a forward for mine.
We are trying to turn him into a defender out of need rather than what is his best position IMO. I don't have a problem playing him down back as part of his education and learning from the best forwards in the AFL where to run and lead but like you Mopsy he's a forward for mine too.

well he better snap out of it , show mental strength and character! we dont need weak minded ppl in our team, so if he cant get it together in his head, he should give it away, life isnt easy

* Scrappy game especially towards the end but a win's a win.
* Only kept 16 of the 45 from last year. We've fast tracked a few Coburg youngsters and they've combined well with the young RFC guys.
* Mentioned Sarge kickign 4 goals. O'Connor likes Schulz up forward at Coburg.
* Also mentioned Howat playing well and got alot of the footy (had the flu midweek). Hughes developing nicely and bobbed up with 2 goals.

Coming off the bye, the in-form Coburg Tigers continued on their merry way with a comfortable 38 point win over the Casey Scorpions at City Oval this week.
With the Burgers and Scorpions sitting in 4th and 5th spots respectively on the TRUenergy ladder before the game, and only percentage separating the two, the match up was another opportunity for Andy Collins’ young team to put some space between themselves and their immediate challengers.
Kicking towards the northern end of City Oval with a favouring breeze, the Scorpions opened with the first goal of the game off the boot of St.Kilda listed player Justin Sweeney.
Cam ‘House’ Howat responded for the Burgers two minutes later and began what would be a first-rate game for the hard nosed utility. Some swift movement of the football into a two pronged tall attack of senior Richmond players Jay Schulz and Cleve Hughes resulted in a goal to Schulz shortly after, and further goals to ruckman Travis Ronaldson and rover David Rodan saw the Burgers open up a promising 14 point lead by the 23 minute mark.
Despite the solid play of ‘House’ Howat, Daniel Jackson in the back line, Ronaldson in the ruck and back pocket Jacob “Rocky Raccoon” King sporting his new Davey Crocket haircut, the Burgers struggled to deliver into the breeze off the half back line with any accuracy - two late goals to the Scorpions resulting and the Burger lead narrowing to 2 points by quarter’s end.
The second quarter got off to a good start for the Burgers with Schulz kicking his second for the match and Ronaldson continuing to get the better of Scorpion ruckman Dylan Pfitzner. But equal resistance into the breeze from the determined Scorpions saw play rebound between the half back lines, a stuff six pointer on the goal line by the Scorpions Steve Harrison at the 12 minute mark finally breaking the goalless period and narrowing the Burger lead to just 1 point.
A snap from the busy Eric Kuret and a rifling set shot from on-baller Paul Shelton enabled the Burgers to extend their lead to 12 points by the half-time break, but not before a heated fracas involving several Burger and Scorpion players erupted in front of the pro-Burger crowd at the grand stand end, the tough and fiery King losing his jumper after it was thrown into the crowd!
Whether or not the second quarter skirmish was the inspiration for it or not, the 3rd quarter would turn out to be a dominant one for the Burgers.
With ‘House’ Howat and ex Calder Canon Sean Huy racking up many hard won possessions, and the consistent Jeremy Humm and Rodan also doing damage around the ground, the Burgers managed to grab the ascendancy early in the quarter, albeit not being able to convert on the scoreboard.
However, relentless physical pressure – a trademark of the Burgers this year - would ultimately allow them to slot thrOugh 4 unanswERed goals for the quarter, Schulz kicking his 3rd for the match and dangerous opportunists Jonno Mullins and Vinnie Randello also causing headaches for the Scorpion backline. By the three quarter time siren, the hard-hitting Burgers had established a match winning 39 point lead.
The first two goals of the fourth quarter would go to the Scorpions. Eventually, a professional tall forward’s mark by Schulz, edging his opponent under the ball followed up by a quick pass to Hughes in the goal square would awaken the sluggish Burgers.
Further goals then to Schulz himself, another from Jonno Mullins after a spectacular mark, and a second for the match to the silky Hughes would see the Burgers run out comfortable 38 point victors, Howat and Kuret also continuing to provide input around the ground.
The match again highlighted the Burger’s team orientated style of play with numerous players making their contribution at various points throughout the game - tackling and pressure a key feature, along with smart and efficient movement of the football.
This week’s win elevates the Burger’s into 3rd spot on the ladder, carrying with them the second best percentage in the competition.
In what is developing into an exciting season for the Coburg Club, the Reserves rebounded strongly from a narrow loss last week to the Northern Bullants by winning their match by a comprehensive 92 points and moving back into the top five. Strong performances from Dean Limbach (7 goals), Nat Caruso and James Rimington underlying the playing depth at Coburg, and the keen competition for a senior spot at present.
The Burgers travel to 6th placed Frankston this Sunday, the first of three away games in a row.
Please, get to the games over the next few weeks if you can and support the boys and help ensure that their winning form this season continues.

It was mentioned today at training that Hartigan is definitely low in confidence at the minute. The talk was when he came to the Club he was one of only a few youngsters and because of that he was a shining light. Now with all the youngsters we have challenging for his spot in the team it's a lot harder for him.

harts should try and lift...theres no point being down coz your challenged. Life is tough sometimes, people can chuck it in or they can fight. I suppose we'll all learn shortly which of our kids wanna fight for a career and battle through and which ones cant. In the end, competition is good, and thats why we must continue drafting good kids.

Even today at training Harts fumbled a mark he would normally take on the run. He just needs to get out there and run through the lines (and hit his targets). They still have faith in him to turn it around and they think his best footy when he has his confidence up is good footy.

if what u were told is true mt, its pretty weak. this is when boys become men, if he cant handle the heat , u know how it goes. he should simply work hard prove to himself and the world that he has something to offer, we and the world dont owe him anything. no matter where in life u r, home work or sport , u have to earn ur respect, earn ur place, u cannot cry and be miserable and expect ppl to feel sorry 4 u and give u what u want.

I don't believe they were saying Harts thinks that way X. Just stating the reality that in 2006 everyone has to keep playing well to maintain their spot in the side and once you lose your spot there's plenty of competition to overcome particularly amongst our young runners before you earn it back. As you say X let's hope he busts his gut at Coburg and pushes for a senior spot in the near future.
