Not sure how we could possibly be favourites
-
Ross Lyon as he usual does as coach will try to turn the game into a low scoring contested scrap with numbers behind the ball trying to hit us on the counter. The Saints have only kicked more than 12 goals once in their past 7 matches and that was 13 goals against GWS. On the flip side, opposition sides have only kicked more than 12 goals against St Kilda once all year (Crows in Adelaide kicked 19).

Richmond v St Kilda Preview
Andrew Slevison
SEN
15 June 2023
Richmond has found some form in the past two weeks, holding out GWS before adding a second road win on the trot by taking care of Fremantle last weekend.
They enter this Round 14 meeting with St Kilda with plenty of momentum, but the Saints also return to Melbourne on the back of a stirring away victory.
They got the job done against the Swans in Sydney and find themselves sitting fifth with an 8-4 record.
Ross Lyon has the Saints playing a brand that is difficult to break down, evidenced by the fact they have conceded the least amount of points (829) across the entire competition.
Under caretaker Andrew McQualter, the Tigers have largely stuck to the same style implemented by Damien Hardwick where they attack quickly once in the clear.
They have had a somewhat disrupted lead-up to this with the Marlion Pickett arrest news leading the agenda since Sunday as well as the Rhyan Mansell Tribunal and appeal situation.
There has been nothing of the like with the Saints, who saw ex-Tiger Dan Butler cleared to play for his dangerous tackle on Nick Blakey.
Butler’s fellow forward Max King has been tuning up nicely with 11 goals in three games since his return from a shoulder injury and poses a major threat to Richmond’s defence, led by Noah Balta.
There is enough in St Kilda’s favour, but in Trent Cotchin’s 300th game, the Tigers could find something a little extra for their triple premiership captain and pull off a result that well and truly keeps their season alive.
Tip: Richmond by 7 points.

THE CERTAINTIES OF ROUND 14 - Richmond versus St Kilda
Andrew Slevison
SEN
17 June 2023
Cotchin to have 20+ disposals, 3+ clearances
Trent Cotchin has been freed up by interim Richmond coach Andrew McQualter in the last two weeks.
The 33-year-old had his best game of the season in lat weekend’s win over Fremantle in Perth, collecting 28 disposals and seven clearances.
He is only averaging 15.6 disposals and 2.5 clearances this season, but he spent most of the first 10 games as a forward which probably doesn’t suit him.
In his 300th game, and now he’s back in the middle, we’re with ‘Cotch’ to have at least 20 touches and three clearances as he has done in each of his last three outings against St Kilda.
King and Butler to combine for 3+ goals
Max King has been in fine form since his return form a shoulder injury, kicking 11 goals in three games.
He turned it on against the Tigers in Round 3 last year, booting four majors. In the same game, ex-Tiger Dan Butler helped himself to two goals.
King kicked three and Butler two in last weekend’s win over Sydney and that pair should again hit the scoreboard on Saturday night.
We’ll go with at least three goals between the tall and small duo.

No late changes.
Hugo is our sub.
Sherman the sub for the Saints.

-
At home with influenza A. A bit shattered I won't be there for Cotchin.
Saints are a bit of a bunny side for us but if we ever needed to beat them it's tonight.
-
Nank gives away at least 2 or 3 of the a gam. You’d think Nank would have learnt not to tackle high by now. :help
-
Terrible start.
No one is clean or can take a grab :help
-
Far out this is a bad start
-
This is a disaster
A great tribute to Cotchin
-
Get Dusty off. Been absolutely crap.
-
Too much build up.
Giving the footy up way too easy.
-
That Ross miss hurts. Should be a gimme
-
These umpires man. Pathetic.
-
Meh. Pedestrian kick eh craw
-
Another average kick for goal by short.
Meanwhile why the F can't someone play in front of King ffs
-
How did the ump miss that free kick to Balta?
-
Cumberland would have been "selfish" and taken the shot there from 40 out running into goal.
-
MJ not going to make it missing those
-
How did the ump miss that free kick to Balta?
Everyone but the ump could see it :banghead
-
Oh look, Jayden Short with another easy kick for goal.
Plays an unaccountable position etc.
-
Meh. I’m not convinced craw. Shorty ::)
-
Wtf has gotten into short ? What a weapon
-
stuff St Kilda. poohouse club. WE should be 3 goals up. Gifted them a couple and the umpires licking their aholes as well. stuff Higgins too. And Max King.
-
Suck on that moron Saints
-
Well I really didn't expect to be up 10 at QT.
Well done boys.
F those sissy saints I hate them
-
Just gritty footy. Nothing polished about it, just going in hard and playing with intent and effort. That’s all I can ask for !
-
With help from the umps, we gave them a 4 goal start, then finally woke up and piled on 6 goals to be 10 pts up :o.
-
Just gritty footy. Nothing polished about it, just going in hard and playing with intent and effort. That’s all I can ask for !

-
Wtf has gotten into short ? What a weapon
Where’s Craw when you need a measured reasoned view on Shorty?
-
What just happen?

-
stuffing umpires man.
Why don't people talk about it? Commentators?
stuffing horsepoo.
-
Don’t they pay incorrect disposal anymore?
-
These umpires are an absolute disgrace.
-
Did the ball not get knocked out in the tackle on balta then ?
-
Seriously, the commentators won't even talk about it, but if it weren't for the umpires we'd be 5+ goals up. So so so bad. EVERY WEEK! EVERY stuffing WEEK!
-
Did the ball not get knocked out in the tackle on balta then ?
Exactly!
-
Lucky to be still in front
-
How are you going to even it up now umpires? How are you going to get the Saints back in it? Huh?!
-
Honestly the minute we kick away the umps bring it back for them gagf
-
Higgins poos me. Glad we got rid of him
-
The Saints have a lot of floppers out there.
-

Grimesy is giving him plenty off the ball
-
I was really disappointed when Jack Jack got rid of the helmet not long after having brain surgery. Considering that, he's obviously a dummy, so I wasn't as sad when he nicked off.
-

Also an excellent field kick doesn’t fluff many and is not a panic merchant.
-
Samson subbed out.
Probably a good call.
Not sure he should have played at all given the weather.
-
Great goal Floss.
-

What a great win. Against all odds but we fought and fought and won.
It was a tribute to our champion captain and how he is loved and honoured by all the players.
A wonderful tribute and a win to remember
-
Taranto is an absolute beast.
He's the guy every team needs grabbing the ball at the coal face.
His disposal isnt always great but thats not what he's there for. Just an absolute warrior.
-
Also, anyone else love seeing Higgins fail ?

Also, anyone else love seeing Higgins fail ?
Yep, tosser is he :shh
-
What a freakin win!!!!
Thought we’d have a cushy win after vlas’ goal and then thought we were in trouble at 3QT. Unbelievable defensive effort to only concede 1 point in the last quarter!
-
Also, anyone else love seeing Higgins fail ?
How did he from from Headingly to the G so quickly after getting bowled by Broad?
-
Still at the pub, apologies if this is unreable. What a wonderful celebration of our era. We are not done.
Shout out to Balta who gave floppy King a bath. What an absolute mug King is developing into. Someone needs to get into him and say stand up to this flop rubbish. Played for about 5 free kicks after whacking Balta and trying to incite a free kick from a reaction.
Higgins flop as well. Delicious to see him missing that set shot. What a shame.
Ben Miller my god I am sensing a man crush. Working class man that is like a diamond. Could be a seriously good find. Him and Ryan are very promising going forward. Please keep them both playing. 1 spot for them when Lynch comes back, good problem to have goes to who ever is most inform.
Dusty what unreal. Cost him goal of the year from the interchange bench.
Taranto maybe the best 151st best player in history of sport.
Trent Cotchin. No words can describe. Except I love you.
Great to see Dimma and flame on screen. Wonderful moment.
Umpiring sunk to a new comedic low. Suck eggs.

Really happy they honoured a champion by winning a milestone game.
-
Naiash Wanganeen-Milera's late hit on Daniel Rioli in the final quarter at the MCG on Saturday night was graded careless high contact, but the low impact grading means he has escaped a ban.
The young Saint can accept a $2000 fine with an early guilty plea.

Richmond player would have copped two weeks for that
-
Yep, for trying to break the opposition players forearm with their throat, it’s a joke , how’s the Sydney player getting two weeks for his action against mansell’s action
I’m confused how we keep getting shafted

RICHMOND
The Tigers got the job done for their milestone man Trent Cotchin at a sodden MCG. Their third win in a row under interim coach Andrew McQualter has moved them to the doorstep of the top eight and has their season well and truly alive.
In the votes
Trent Cotchin starred in his milestone game with 29 disposals and two goals, but Tim Taranto (38 disposals & 1.1) will most probably get the three votes come Brownlow night with another best on ground display. Dustin Martin would back the clock with 35 disposals in an inspired showing for his great mate while Jayden Short continued his goal kicking form off halfback with another two goals to go with his 23 possessions. Shai Bolton was again a star in the front half with 3.1 from 18 disposals.
Room for improvement
The Tigers took a bit of time to get going and then thrived in the wet as it tumbled down at the MCG. While they adapted to the conditions well, Getting off to a slow start will be a concern for McQualter and the Richmond coaching staff will be looking to arrest the slow starts after they return from their bye.

WINNERS AND LOSERS: THE RESULTS FROM ROUND 14 AND WHO IT SAYS MORE ABOUT
SEN
19 June 2023
Richmond (90) - (70) St Kilda
Lyon: “I think it says more about Richmond.
“I think St Kilda are what St Kilda are, and they've been super competitive under Ross, they're eight wins and five losses.
“I think they're squeezing as much as they can out of themselves, they've been very hard to score against and Richmond have come out and had 10 scoring shots in the first quarter and ended up kicking 13.12
“I think Andrew McQualter has got them reenergised and I think he's got them interested again.
“How far that takes him is going to be problematic because they've had a slow start to the year.
“But I like what they're doing, I like the fact that he's put his own little stamp on it, he swung a few changes around and I think it speaks volumes of them and him.
“It's a good result.”
