Johnson kicks long to the hot spot where we are outnumbered but somehow Olden marked it 20m out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
Sandy 0.1-1
Weird seeing Sandringham wearing St Kilda jumpers.
-
Banks, Soldo and Sonsie playing. No Hugo.
-
Faimalo to the pocket and Soldo gets the free. Misses near side.

10 min Q1
-
Embarrassing turnovers. I would see better standard down the local park
-
Windy conditions and turnovers galore :help. Lucky Sandy are missing their chances. We're giving them enough :P.
7 - 5
ps. We must be the worst kick-in team by the way.
-
Terrible marking efforts and then defending. Finally Sandy take one of the many soft chances we are giving them.
7 - 12
-
Sonsie is a bust. Refuses to put body on the line
-
First time I've seen a ruckman get pinged for deliberate from a throw-in tap ::).
-
A repeat of last week. Smashed in the contests and (clear) clearances :help.
7 - 18
-
Our VFL rem wouldn’t beat our women’s team playing like this. Every time they kick it out on the full. Defense is pathetic and refuse to man up. stuffen embarrassing
-
Sonsie belongs in local footy
-
Finally got a centre clearance.
Johnson to the goal-line. Bradtke almost marks it but can't hold on and it's rushed.
8 - 18
-
Coast to coast from them under no pressure. stuffen witches hats.
-
Brown and Coulthard doing some good things, the others are woeful
-
Fantastic stuff from Coulthard. Classy to Johnson to Faimalo = goal! :gotigers
Rich 2.2-14
Sandy 2.7-19

Bradke is about as useful as a chocolate frypan

Lucky to be so close on the scoreboard. Only the last 5 minutes was decent from us.

Bradtke actually did well there. Worked hard and multiple efforts outnumbered to win the free 40 out on the boundary. Misses to the right (near side).

Biggie long to the hot spot. Comes to ground and Hicks volleys the ball into the post.

Free kick to Soldo from the F50 throw-in. 40m out. Stabs at it and misses to the left.

Dumb dumb dumb! Melville gives away 50 and a goal against the breeze to Sandy :facepalm.
-
Street looks like he is still peeed from last night. Been poohouse.
-
Geez our forwards take the wrong option. The ball was in the goalsquare and it ends up 30 out by the time we fumble and stumble.
Anyway Street snaps a point.
And then another shot misses.
38 - 26
-
Bauer has the ball on the wing and Faimalo is paid a free downfield off the ball 35m out. Thanks Sandy defender. Goal! :gotigers

Naish did really well there. Spoiled the ball against two and brought the ball down to allow us to force a stoppage on the wing. Good to see his teammates recognise it.
-
Courageous by Banks to run back to spoil and get crunched.
However, Sandy still get the goal.
56 - 41
-
What sort of idiot taps it back in straight to the opposition- Hicks is a knob
-
Terrible defending. Slow play and we still leave a Sandy player on his own 40 out directly in front :facepalm. Lucky they miss.
56 - 42
-
Bradke is a stuffen dud. Who the hell picked him over Narkle?
-
stuff me our VFL players are stuffen useless
-
The habit of modern players wanting to handball instead of kick and stuffing up is frustrating #backinmyday :oldguy. Cost us a goal chance at one end and then we give up a goal at the other :banghead.
Goal to Sandy.

Brown long inside 50 and Bradtke takes the contested mark in the pack 47m out. Sprays it :P and it's off hands for a throw-in.
Repeat ball-ups. Lefau wins the HTB free on 50 by the boundary. Doesn't allow for the breeze and just squeezes in for a point near side.
57 - 54
-
Green clever aerial tap to Olden but he misses.
58 - 54
-
Good transition ends up with Coulthard 30 out. He misses as well.
None are them are aiming for the left goal post and allowing the breeze to bring it back. They are all missing to the right. Schoolboy stuff! :facepalm
59 - 54

After all our misses, Sandy goes forward once and shocking loose defending gifts them a set shot. Lucky it misses.

Final Score
Richmond 2.2 7.8 8.8 12.15-87
Sandringham 2.7 3.8 7.12 7.13-55
Goals: Bradtke 2, Coulthard 2, Olden 2, Banks, Faimalo, Melville, Lefau, Johnson, Hicks.
In hindsight, hanging in there on the scoreboard late in the first quarter against the breeze won the game. The remaining quarters all went with the team with the breeze.
Ugly scrappy game but we keep our finals chances alive.
Banks, Brown and Soldo the best of our AFL-listed players.
-
Was Sonsie dragged for the entire last quarter? Bit of a worry. :shh
-
Banks & Brown can play. Coulthard promising. Charlie Naish already looks better than his brother ever did. Wouldn't be against giving Lefau &/or Faimolo a rookie spot. Olden likewise. Tresize looks strong in the contest but his disposal is woeful. Green looks ok around the ground but is even worse than George in front of goal. Bradtke is like Soldo - belongs in a previous decade. :shh

Good to see from both brown and banks. We really need these guys to come through to afl level to safe our last few drafts.

VFL Tigers wear down Zebras to bounce back
By Brenton Mann
Richmond Media
17 June 2023
RICH 2.2 7.8 8.8 12.15 (87)
SAND 2.7 3.8 7.12 7.13 (55)
Goal Kickers:
Richmond: Olden (2), Coulthard (2), Bradtke (2), Melville, Lefau, Johnson, Hicks, Faimalo, Banks.
Best Players: Banks, Brown, Coulthard, Dow, Trezise, Johnson.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Tempestuous conditions greeted Richmond and Sandringham for their Round 13 clash at the Swinburne Centre on Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers bounced back from its loss to Werribee last week with a mature 32-point win over the Zebras.
The hosts kicked nine of their 12 goals with the wind, putting the result beyond doubt with a four-goal burst at the back end of the last quarter, the final score reading 12.15 (87) to 7.13 (55).
The Tigers were the first to strike in the opening term via Cam Olden.
Olden’s strength above his head belies his height, and the Leongatha product showed good judgement as his helicopter set-shot curled on the inside of the goal post.
13 scoring shots equating to four goals collectively in the first quarter suggested the breeze was harder to read than the greens at Los Angeles Country Club.
Matthew Coulthard has fitted into life at Tigerland seamlessly and showed his spring on the outer wing, which led to Mykelti Lefau goaling from close range.
Sandringham clung to a narrow five-point lead at the first change, which was quickly eroded by Bigoa Nyuon and Coulthard.
Nyuon got in behind his man and was found by Steely Green with a well-weighted kick, which set the Tigers’ big man on a path to goal.
Coulthard rode shot gun and was handed the ball by Nyuon in the goal square, ramming through Richmond’s third major.
Tom Brown picked up where he left off last week, providing poise and precision from the back half.
To say Brown had a frustrating start to the year would be an understatement, however the second-year Tiger is playing with presence and a want to have the ball in his hands.
There was a 16-minute goalless period in the second quarter before Austin Johnson showed unshakeable courage in the air and cashed in following a 50-metre penalty.
Richmond’s pressure and ability to keep the ball in its front half was a highlight, and showcased when Misilifi Faimalo trapped a Zebras’ defender cold, handing the ball to Sam Banks whose long-range shot on goal sailed through.
Faimalo added his name to the goalkickers' tally after being awarded a down-the-field free kick.
Seconds before the half-time siren, Brad Melville was ploughed into the turf inside 50 and justly rewarded a shot on goal after the siren.
Melville coolly converted, giving the Tigers a five-goal quarter, and pushing their lead out to four goals.
Sandringham slotted its fourth goal early in the third quarter, before another elongated period of no goals for either side.
Coulthard snapped the mini-drought following a composed pass by Banks to find the small forward free at the top of the goal square.
The Zebras kicked back-to-back goals, dragging the margin to eight points in the shadows of three-quarter-time.
Sandy then sliced into the Tigers’ lead even further with a goal in the final minutes before the siren, setting up an enthralling final term.
Richmond played the game on its terms early in the last quarter and peppered the goals without maximum reward.
It took 15:52 for the first goal of the last quarter to be kicked, after Olden flung his right boot at a bobbling ball, which floated over the goal umpire’s hat.
Olden was involved in the Tigers’ second goal of the quarter five minutes later after being shoved to the ground off the ball.
Kaelan Bradtke was the final link of an impressive Richmond back-half chain which saw Coulthard leave a herd of Zebras in his wake.
Bradtke was marched to the goalline as a result of Olden’s free kick, extending the Tigers’ lead to three goals.
Angus Hicks’ quickfire snap from congestion sailed through as Richmond rapidly built on its lead.
Bradtke found himself free on the goalline once again, as Tom Brindley and Coulthard shared the ball inside 50 and unselfishly handed the Tigers’ big man his second major.
Richmond maturely built its matching-winning lead in the last quarter, finally wearing Sandringham down as the final siren sounded.

It was another good from performance at state league level from Tom Brown as the young Tiger keeps pushing for a senior debut.
Brown was Richmond’s leading ballwinner in the club’s 32-point win over Sandringham on Saturday, gathering 29 disposals.
Sam Banks was also a standout with 27 touches and one goal, while key forward prospect Kaelan Bradtke kicked two.
The Tigers' two mid-season draftees both played well, Matthew Coulthard kicking two goals from 14 disposals, and James Trezise racking up 20 touches.
On his return from injury Ivan Soldo was solid with 13 disposals, 32 hitouts and six clearances, Bigoa Nyuon helping out with the tapwork and finishing with eight touches.
Thomson Dow was busy with 22 disposals and four clearances, but Tyler Sonsie (10 disposals) and Steely Green (eight) were relatively quiet.

VFL Report: Round 13
Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Saturday's 32-point win over Sandringham at the Swinburne Centre.
Tom Brown (30 disposals, nine rebound-50s, five marks)
"Loving the way Tom's progressing. I thought he made some super decisions with his hands, and his foot skills were fantastic on the day."
Sam Banks (27 disposals, eight rebound-50s, six inside-50s, one goal)
"Along with Tom, Sam used the ball extremely well by foot for the majority of the day in tough conditions. He kicked a beautiful goal on the run and is knocking on the door for selection."
Thomson Dow (25 disposals, three clearances, three marks)
"A big improvement from last week for Thomson. He looked really lively in the midfield and I'm looking forward to him progressing further over the coming weeks."
James Trezise (20 disposals, three marks, two rebound-50s)
"He was super again on the weekend. His ability to win the ball back for us both in the air and on the ground is crucial."
Matt Coulthard (16 disposals, three inside-50s, two goals)
"Really liking the progression that he's showing in his first few weeks at the Club. He's definitely getting to know our system and our structures and the excitement he brings is profound."
Kaelan Bradtke (13 disposals, three marks, two goals)
"A mixed day for him. It was a much-improved effort on recent weeks, which was pleasing to see. He had five shots on goal and was able to halve a number of important contests for us."
Jacob Bauer (13 disposals, six marks, three rebound-50s)
"A mixed bag for Jacob. His best looked very good, but still has some lapses that I'm really keen to see reduced, as he is an outstanding defender when he gets the basics right."
Ivan Soldo (13 disposals, 29 hit-outs, six clearances)
"Really dominant game despite limited minutes for Ivan. He looks like a big, strong presence for us, he had 10 contested possessions and really dominated the ruck on the day."
Tyler Sonsie (11 disposals, two clearances, one mark)
"Probably wasn't his best game and he'll be looking to bounce back strongly against a really formidable Brisbane outfit next week."
Steely Green (11 disposals, four marks, two inside-50s)
"He's doing so much right, and once again, we saw that on the weekend. He probably didn't get the reward that he has got in previous weeks, but we're really happy with the progression that he's showing."
Bigoa Nyuon (eight disposals, five marks, one inside-50)
"He had a decent start to the game but went off relatively early, he was pretty crook. Hopefully he gets over that quickly and we're looking forward to seeing what he can produce in the second half of the season."
