Biggie playing up forward today.
-
El Nour dropped a sitter and then the kick (didn't see who) across defence missed the target allowing Brisbane in for the first goal :facepalm.
-
Coast to coast we go. Bradtke from the boundary squeezes it through the eye of the needle :gotigers

Turnovers galore.
Add ballwatching allowing a Lions forward to mark. Lucky they miss.
6 - 9
-
I don't think I've seen so many marks dropped :P.
-
Downfield free to us. Bravo misses from 35 out though.
7 - 10
-
Headless chook footy from us :facepalm. How to stuff up when you're out in space!
Lucky Brisbane isn't making us pay for our dumb turnovers.
7 - 12
-
Maurice pushed in the back and it's a free to Brisbane? :huh3
-
And that gifts the Lions a goal on the siren ::).
Quarter time
Richmond 1.1-7
Brisbane 2.6-18
Goal: Bradtke
Clueless skill-less footy sums us up so far. So many easy targets and marks missed.
Only Bauer in defence deserves praise. Saving our bacon on a number of occasions.

Melville and a Brisbane player collided (all fair). Lions player still on the ground. Play halted.
Bradtke has the mark 55 out.
-
To the line and it's rushed.
20 - 19
-
Brown 75 out. Ignores our tall targets and goes up the middle to where Rioli was leading. Olden excellent tackle wins the HTB free 35 out. He misses though.
21 - 19
-
What is this need to mindlessly handball instead of kick?! :banghead.
Open goal and Lefau instead of just kicking the goal handballs towards Coulthard who wasn't expecting it and the ball is rushed through :banghead
22 - 19
-
Geez we have dumb players :facepalm.
Lucky Brisbane are missing too.
22 all.
-
Bauer intercepts well again but this time he kicks it straight across goal to a Lion. They miss another sitter though.
This is the standard of the game.
22 - 23

Again wanting to handball when the option was to kick to a teammate inside 50 :banghead.

HTF can you have 18 players in defence and still allow an easy hit up lead?
-
Half-time
Richmond 1.1 3.5-23
Brisbane 2.6 3.11-29
Goals: Bradtke, Soldo, Lefau
Actually, we had plenty of chances that second quarter and should be in front but we have a collective IQ of 3 and a skill level to match.

Idiots!
23 - 29
HTF can you have 18 players in defence and still allow an easy hit up lead?
Especially when Brisbane today have no tall forwards.
That play was:
- Dropped mark on the wing.
- Run over the loose ball.
- Fumble loose ball, lose feet and go to ground.
- Drag ball in to give away a HTB free.
- Have no one man the mark.
- Allow opposition small forward to lead up the centre from the goalsquare for the easy hit up despite having all 18 Tigers inside D50.
Auskick stuff :banghead.
-
Half-time
Richmond 1.1 3.5-23
Brisbane 2.6 3.11-29
Goals: Bradtke, Soldo, Lefau
Actually, we had plenty of chances that second quarter and should be in front but we have a collective IQ of 3 and a skill level to match.
Should be in front? They have 6 more scoring shots and DOUBLE our inside 50s
-
We finally get a centre clearance.
Dow -> Banks -> Olden -> Lefau inside 50. Again Lefau handballs instead of going for goal. Gets to Green who can't make the distance nor the accuracy around his body from 25 out. No score :P :banghead.
-
Should be in front? They have 6 more scoring shots and DOUBLE our inside 50s
Have you watched the game, Damo?
Yes they should have punished us in the 1st quarter. But in the SECOND QUARTER with all the play we had we should've been in front. We missed open goals while most of their score in that second quarter came from our idiotic decision making and unforced errors. When you have an open goal and you DON'T go for goal = brainless!
-
First two goals of the 3rd quarter to Brisbane.
23 - 41
We are headless chooks around ball. More players around the contest and still lose out.
-
We get a breakout out the back. Still miss the target in Green but Green finds Bradtke 20 out.
Misses a sitter after taking a Michael Holding run up :facepalm.
24 - 42
-
Auskick footy inside 50. Olden's snap misses.
25 - 42
-
Schoolboy stuff. A set shot from 55 out. It falls short to the top of the goalsquare and not one Tiger is near the fall of the ball. Hello organisation and basic forward play playing in front!
-
Street intercepts 55 out.
Downfield free to Bradtke 15m out. Misses another sitter :scream.
26 - 42
-
We must have had 12 inside 50s so far this quarter but only scored 3 behinds ::).
-
Make that 4 behinds. Sonsie's snap misses too.

Great pack mark by Bauer.

Too bad those upfield are clueless.

Goal to Brisbane.

That sums us up. Soldo mark, his teammate calls for it and it's handballed 1m away straight to an opponent :facepalm.
Idiots!

Why not go for goal Coulthard from 35 out?
He chips it to Soldo in the pocket which is a harder shot :huh.
Hits the post.
35 - 50
SERIOUSLY!
-
That's just a lazy hack kick by Hicks. 50m out and kicks it around the body straight to the lone Lions defender.

So why have we been playing Bauer as forward ?.
-
So why have we been playing Bauer as forward ?.
Did you mean why hasn't he been playing as forward, georgie?
Bauer today was brilliant at both ends of the ground. Apart from one bad turnover (thankfully didn't cost us a goal), he must have had about 15 intercepts down back. Saved our bacon a number of times. In desperation due to our inept and dopey forward line, he was thrown forward during the last quarter and marked everything that came his way. Amazing what old school playing in front can do btw. All 3 of his goals came in the last 15 minutes and in the end won us the game.
-
Give the boy a run!
-
So why have we been playing Bauer as forward ?.
Think the right question should be why have we not been playing Bauer fwd. Been going on about it almost from the time we drafted him.
Once again i will say with the injuries we have to tall defenders play miller KPD instead of spud it up Young and Bring in one if not two talls to play fwd alongside Riewoldt.
Funny thing is ive given up on it they just cant see the forest for the trees and steadfastly keep refusing to address the biggest list deficiency we have had for 7 or 8 years.

Bauer’s brilliance topples Brisbane
Jacob Bauer kicked yet another match-winning goal after the siren as Richmond VFL beat Brisbane by one point on Friday.

“I see it, but I don’t believe it!”
The words of Anthony Hudson would have been ringing in the ears of the Tiger faithful, as Jacob Bauer kicked himself into Richmond folklore.
The dynamic swingman kicked yet another match-winning goal after the siren, from an eerily similar position and play to the one he slotted at Giants Stadium a month prior.
Bauer’s heroics capped off a best-on-ground performance as Steve Morris and his lieutenants flicked his magnet forward, with three final-term goals sealing a memorable win.
Richmond stared down the might of the Lions from siren-to-siren, steamrolling home to secure a meritorious single point win, the final score reading 8.11 (59) to 7.16 (58).
The morning after the night before, Richmond VFL made its way south-west of Brisbane to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield.
Much like at the GABBA the night previous, a formidable foe awaited in the Lions.
The hosts with a 10–1–1 record for the year, on paper, looked a daunting task.
Brisbane trapped the ball in its front-half for the opening five minutes and was the first to strike a major blow on the scoreboard.
The Tigers then clicked into gear.
Yellow and Black jumpers spread far and wide, surging the ball forward from the back half.
Kaelan Bradtke found himself on the end of some swift ball movement and showcased his skill with a long-range goal after being hemmed in on the boundary.
Both sides then had their chances inside 50 but struggled to capitalize.
The Lions stretched their lead to 11 points with a goal after the quarter-time siren.
Jacob Bauer thrived in the winter sunshine, showcasing the best version of himself down back.
Bauer spoiled with defiance and was tight and snug on his opponent.
Richmond exploded from the restart, with goals to Ivan Soldo and Mykelti Lefau in the opening five minutes of the second term, handing the Tigers a narrow lead.
The pressure exerted from Maurice Rioli and Matthew Coulthard was infectious, as Richmond swarmed the Lions.
James Trezis proved a thorn in Brisbane’s side and at times looked impassable behind the ball.
Much like the first quarter, both sides struggled putting the finishing touches on their good work, as a litany of turnovers marred the flow of the game.
The Lions kicked a goal clear in the shadows of half time, with both sides kicking three goals apiece in blustery conditions.
Brisbane burst out of the blocks with the opening two goals of the third term.
The Tigers then kicked a string of behinds before Steely Green pounced on a loose ball at the top of the goal square, his right-foot check side swinging through on the breeze.
The Lions clung to a slender lead at the final change, which they extended early in the final term, stretching their lead to 16 points.
Tom Brown’s form since returning from a long lay off has steadily built as the weeks have gone on, and his performance against the Lions was another step in the right direction.
Brown is serene with ball in hand, rarely flustered, and uses his dynamic assets to full advantage in winning the ball back.
Bauer the swingman was deployed forward in the final term with instant effect, slotting Richmond’s fifth goal, which drew his side within ten points late in the quarter.
The move of Bauer forward was a masterstroke, as he provided an aerial presence that surpassed all forward of centre and unerring precision with a game-high three goals.
Bauer set-up a goal to Tyler Sonsie and then showed his icy resolve to win the game off his own boot after the siren, for the second time this year.

Our AFL-listers:
Jacob Bauer (24 disposals, 12 marks, 11 rebound-50s, three goals)
"The absolute complete game from Jacob. He was outstanding down back for three quarters and then went forward and won the game for us off his own boot."
Tom Brown (21 disposals, nine rebound-50s, five marks)
"He's gaining some real momentum, he's in great form. We've continuously seen great decision-making from him and his defence has really improved this season. I'm loving the improved leadership."
Tyler Sonsie (21 disposals, five clearances, four marks, one goal)
"He looked back to near his best on the weekend. He was much more involved in the game and he had a big impact on it."
James Trezise (20 disposals, seven marks, three inside-50s)
"Really liking the way he's going. Clearly, he's got strength overhead for his size, but he wins the ball back for us really well. The next layer to add to his game is his run and carry and line breaking on offence"
Sam Banks (18 disposals, four tackles, three marks)
"He's just in outstanding form at the moment and played a really good game once again on the weekend. The thing that stood out was he ability to break lines with his speed and beautiful kicking skills."
Thomson Dow (16 disposals, 11 contested possessions, eight clearances)
"Looked really dynamic and led us with eight clearances and 11 contested possessions. The challenge for him is two-fold, one would be to start to get some easy ball rather than having to work for every ball he gets, but also to really damage teams by foot, and that's what we'll be challenging him to do."
Ivan Soldo (13 disposals, 46 hit-outs, four clearances, one goal)
"Was really dominant with his ruck work. He looked physical and big. Still a little bit of rust to dust off, but really pleased with the way he's progressing and looking for him to continue to dominate in the air."
Kaelan Bradtke (11 disposals, six marks, one goal)
"His best game for the season on the back of some real physically. He had the opportunity to kick three or four goals, but he looked strong in the contest and was able to halve a couple of contests that were really important for us."
Matt Coulthard (nine disposals, four inside-50s, three tackles)
"Another exciting performance from Matt. The stats sheet doesn't read overly kindly for the impact that he had on the game. Most pleasingly was his ability to influence the contest in and around the footy late in the game."
Bigoa Nyuon (nine disposals, three tackles, two marks)
"Didn't have the impact that we would have liked him to have on the game and that we know he's capable of having. Pleasingly, he's trained extremely well this week off the back of this game and we're expecting big things from him this week."
Maurice Rioli (nine disposals, eight tackles, three marks)
"Had an equal-game high eight tackles which is something we never question from him. The challenge for him is just to be cleaner with his opportunities."
Steely Green (six disposals, three tackles, one goal)
"He's playing his role really well and I think he understands that he's getting very close to being able to put it all together. He had the opportunity to finish with four or five goals, and I'm certain that it will come together for him on the scoreboard soon."
