Short potentially available if his hammy is fully right.
Fire away with your changes, if any?
-
In: Short, Cumberland
Out: Cotchin, Mansell, Pickett
Coulthard into the 22 and Pickett can be the sub.

Who else comes out of the 23 then ?
My changes would be exactly the same with Picket out of the team. He is really not a forward. He gives a effort you so you can't knock that it but it's just not his go. Sounds like Cumberland earned another go.
Actually Cotch might be needed against a big bodied Melbourne midfield so I'm not totally sure on that. Might need to give it some more thought.

Whoops. Edited now.
With Coulthard and Cumberland into the 22, mansell drops out.

Short to come in if fit with Banks (unlucky) out. Jack and Trent are a huge worry. Will be fascinating selection this week.
We looked better when Millar played forward as at least he halved the contest. Pickett in the ruck to assist Soldo also worked well.

Surely Cumberland is rewarded after 6 goals in the twos .

Isn’t part of the click club obv
That’s why Machine didn’t bother mentioning him
-
IN: Cumberland (Coulthard in to starting 22)
OUTS: Pickett (horribly out of form, wondering what impact the off field stuff is having), Cotchin (managed)
I'd be giving Short another week, to be sure
-

-
Out: Cotchin, Graham, Banks
In: Short, Cumberland, Coulthard

-
Out: Riewoldt
In: Cumberland

Short said on MMM he hopes to back this week. Trained on Saturday and felt good. Just needs to tick off sprinting at top pace before the weekend and he'll be right to go.

-

Yeah
No chance he gets dropped after the weekend
Was actually very good
Was also due some coaches award recognition, hasn’t had a solitary point since r14 last year .. seems a paltry return for someone as great as Jack is
But good on him for Saturday .. What I find odd is that someone that performs the role set for him so fantastically well, goes more than a year between coaches votes
It’s an interesting one
Maybe he hasn’t been quite as glorious in the eyes of the coaches for the last 12 months .. I mean after all, both coaches pick 5 players
-
Or maybe his role allows other players to shine and get the votes
Regardless I value him as a player unlike many on here.
-

I would think the coaches would recognise that and vote accordingly

I'd give KMac a run as a forward this week. That mark in the square was a light
bulb moment. We have a tall who can mark well over head, leads very well, has agility with speed & is noted as being very good with set shots ... so we play him on the wing? At least he would draw a tall defender (Lever) away from double teaming Jack.
Its got to be worth a try for a half, if it fails switch him back to the wing ...

Jayden Short is a test to return this weekend against the Demons.

Worth a shot - better than doing nothing.

I'd give it a go, sure.

Team Tips:
Star halfback Jayden Short is in the mix to return to from a hamstring injury to potentially provide a huge boost to Andrew McQualter’s side. Jacob Baeur is also listed as a test from his own hamstring, though you sense he’ll be brought back through the VFL. Matthew Coulthard had great impact upon coming on the sub to potentially come into the frame, but he’s perhaps best suited to the sub role, for now. Sam Banks might be the unlucky one to make way for Short given he plays a similar role, if not, Rhyan Mansell.

Sticking with my play as many kids as possible mantra without being stupid about it. While addressing what are clear deficiences in the 22.
Would love to pick Jacob Bauer but if fit its probably magoos this week. Only needs a half decent game and then play him.
FB: Grimes - Miller - Vlastuin.. Continue to push for Miller to play KPD.Something that should have happened all year imo.
HB: Rioli - Balta - Broad. Very tempted to role Broad up to the wing to allow Brown to start in his best role.
C: Banks - Taranto - Pickett. Think Marlion our best winger before being moved. He is struggling atm so get him back into the role he did well in.
R: Soldo - Martin - Prestia. Tempted to pick Ryan as solo with a chop out from say Miller.I think Gawn needs a mature body to compete against.
HF: Clarke - Riewoldt - Cumberland. Just think Cumberland and Clarke are the best rounded options. we need to get games into them.
FF: Ryan - Bauer/Bradtke - Bolton. Shai is our best small fwd cant play him everywhere at once. Still maintain we have to play a genuine tall fwd alongside Riewoldt.
Int from: Hopper - Sonsie - Dow - Brown - Baker - Ross - Graham - Cotchin. Would hope for at least two kids on the bench.Would be harsh on Ross and Graham coming off decent games but id rather see them develop the likes of Brown and Banks in front of Ross in running roles and my gripe with Graham is though coming off a good game where he should be at all the time his history says it will drop away.

Lmao drop Ross yeah righteo..... :joker

Believe i named him on an interchange bench of 8. Not sure that amounts to dropping him. Also said that it would be harsh to drop him, he had a good game probably one of his best but i prefer we play others on the wings.
He had a good game because he actually won his share of contested ball laid more tackles actually won some clearances and got back behind the ball and provided some rebound. These are all things he has mostly been poo at.They are more inside jobs than outside.
One of those others i prefer on a wing was Pickett and play both Banks and Brown in running roles.
I have for a few weeks now thought it might be a good idea to play Broad on a wing to allow Brown a spot at hb.
It has nothing to with right now its all about long term. We will struggle to make the 8 and wont be winning anything even if we do.
100% still think while playing some decent footy of late he does not have the pace dash and hurt factor with ball in hand for an outside role. Not a long term solution in that role for me thanks. But a keeper. So hang me up and shoot me.
I certainly prefer Pickett on a wing and think we need to run him back into some form. Without doubt that is Picketts best role where he has played his best footy. He is the one copping it in the neck to allow Ross a wing.
Remain adamant we need to get games into Banks, Brown and as many of the 22 and unders as possible which Ross is one of.
That should be a non negotiable for the club.
The team i named has 8 or 9 players aged 19 - 24 only Ross has a decent amount of games behind him.
The only way that can happen is if some regulars are dropped and others play different roles to allow kids to play to their strengths.
That to me is just a bit of old fashioned common sense given the season and where we are at list wise.
We had our moment in the sun we need to wake up and start tending to the long term.

The Tigers could have some selection decisions to make with Jayden Short and Jacob Bauer, whose debut in round 17 was ruined in the early minutes, set to be available after hamstring injuries. Additionally, Matthew Coulthard (seven disposals) had an impact as the sub in the comeback win over Hawthorn, replacing Tylar Young (seven disposals), while Marlion Pickett (seven disposals and five tackles) was quiet. Noah Cumberland booted six goals in the VFL to push his claims for a recall, while Tyler Sonsie (23 disposals and a goal), Judson Clarke (19 and one) and Samson Ryan (10 and 33 hitouts) were also good.

Not much given away by Mini in his presser.
* Short will come straight in if he is available (ed. presser was before today's main training).
* Still deciding what to do with Coulthard as far as into the 22 or sub again.
* Cumberland is putting himself in the frame to be selected and rewatching the Melbourne game from earlier in the year he was very influential.
-
It would be an inspired choice to bring him back in after that 6 goal game Mini.
That energy he brought in the first q vs Dees earlier this year almost set the game up for us.
