Carlton's VFL team got pumped by 127 pts yesterday, which means Norf can't fall out of the top 10 unless we somehow flog them today by 10+ goals.
It doesn't really change anything for us as we just need to win or we're out. Only difference now is if we win by less than 10 goals then we knock Carlton out rather than Norf.
-
Serious question
Is MRJ allowed to play today seeing he was only subbed on fro about 35 minutes yesterday?
-
I’m pretty sure we’ve had subs play a full vfl game after a sub appearance.

Serious question

Yes he is allowed to play and will play today

Just as I type that, bad error by the Norf defender and Bauer intercepts 25 out. Goal! :gotigers

Ball-up at HF. Good tap by Samson to Banks who hits up Miller 40 out. Oddly goes to the pocket to Bauer which is a harder kick into the breeze. Misses.

These umps :facepalm. Rugby throw by Norf and they get the free kick.
Goal to Norf.
9 - 6

Our tackling had been good so far but not pinging the arm in D50 allowed the ball to get out and Norf get another.
9 - 12
-
Ralphsmith is a dud at this level also. He stinks
-
Norf midfield getting on top now after we wasted the first 5-10 mins. Lucky they miss a sitter.
9 - 13
-
Sonsie ball watching again. His opponent just waltzing it out of the center
-
Umpires can sux my dick. Cheating pricks
-
The number of frees in the ruck we are not getting today is ridiculous. Around the neck, jumper pulls, etc ....
-
Brown 70 out goes long. Miller can't mark and it's rushed.
10 - 13
-
Coulthard hit and stayed down.
-
Stop the play umpire u dumb campaigner!!!!

Another hard hit and Yassine gets the free 35 out going back with the flight. Goal! :gotigers

Serious question
Is MRJ allowed to play today seeing he was only subbed on fro about 35 minutes yesterday?
Maurice could have played but he's not listed as playing.
-
Whoever becomes our new coach needs to teach our smalls to be front and square at the contest especially when we go inside 50.
And yep, we have the breeze this qtr.
-
Melville snap misses.
18 - 13
-
Stop the game you idiots!
Campbell down with a lower leg injury.

It's a bad ankle. Campbell in a lot of pain. Stretcher coming out.

Ralphsmith lets his opponent kick an easy goal. :wallywink
-
We've got the breeze, Tiges! You don't need to do these little crap chip kicks when 50 out!
-
Geez our inside 50s are rubbish.

Seriously! You have a set shot from 45 with the breeze directly in front and you try to give it off (which is stuffed up) :facepalm.

Some of these errors are reserve grade local quality

Bauer and Miller both did well then to keep the ball in front of them but our smalls weren't front and square again! :banghead

Are we seriously considering Clarke - the bloke in charge of our forwards- for the senior job? :help

VFL Tigers book Wildcard spot with win over Roos
By Brenton Mann

20 August 2023
RICH 2.5 5.8 11.9 13.10 (88)
NTH 2.1 4.3 6.6 11.10 (76)

Richmond: Bauer (4), Yassine (3), Ryan (2), Sonsie, Olden, Mansell, Brindley
Best Players: Bauer, Yassine, Mansell, Ryan, Brown, Banks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The VFL Tigers have booked their Wildcard spot with a gritty 12-point win over North Melbourne on Sunday at the Swinburne Centre.
“Sacrifice yourself for the betterment of someone else.” — Francis Bourke.
On a weekend where Richmond celebrated the careers of two premiership icons, its VFL side aimed to play with the spirit of another, ‘St. Francis’.
When the quietly spoken, Bourke graces the halls of the Swinburne Centre, he commands attention and senior coach, Steve Morris drew down on a famous quote for inspiration.
The Tigers’ fate was in their grasp, a win against North Melbourne and they secure a spot in next week’s inaugural Wildcard Round.
After a stress-riddled last quarter, the Tigers’ pulse in 2023 quickened after a 13.10 (88) to 11.10 (76) victory, setting up a do-or-die encounter with archrivals, Collingwood.
The game was played in Richmond’s half for large chunks of the opening eight minutes of the game, with a solitary point to show for the territory dominance until Jacob Bauer slotted the opener.
Bauer ended the game with a team-high four goals.
He remained engaged defensively as North Melbourne attempted to switch across goal, the Tigers’ key forward glided in front of a Roos’ defender and clutched a forward-50 intercept.
One of Bauer’s main strengths is his unerring set-shot, and he made no mistake from 25 metres out on a slight angle.
North Melbourne kicked into gear soon after, making the most of its opportunities with two slick majors.
Mohammed Yassine has endeared himself to the coaching staff and the Richmond faithful with his tenacity and speed. You can add unflinching courage to that list of attributes, after Yassine drifted back with the flight inside 50.
The electric forward was crunched in the contest, after steeling himself, Yassine importantly kicked the goal in the shadows of quarter-time.
The Kangaroos hit back soon after the restart, as the Tigers struggled to connect inside 50.
Cam Olden sparked the Tigers with a trio of goals last week and bobbed up for Richmond’s third major.
The Tigers’ fourth major came via the right boot of Samson Ryan following a strong contested mark close to goal.
Tyler Sonsie was another who kicked a vital goal in last week’s win over Port Melbourne, and he did so again with a right-foot check side goal in front of the Jack Dyer Stand.
Richmond extended its lead to 13 points by the main break.
The sound of Yassine cheering home his second major echoed around a sunbathed Punt Road Oval, just reward for his chase down tackle.
Rhyan Mansell showed a touch of class snapping his first and the Tigers’ seventh goal, much to the delight of fans filling the terrace in front of the David Mandie Building.
Ryan engaged his defender early, earning himself a free kick and split the middle with his set-shot, his second for the day.
Bauer sprung to life in the third term, balletically controlling the air and inflicting maximum impact on the scoreboard.
Yassine wowed the crowd again, with a goal of the year contender, pinballing off a North defender then sliding through a right-boot check side from the Richmond Station pocket.
Bauer and Yassine slotted two goals apiece in the third term, stretching Richmond’s lead out past five goals by the final change.
Tension rose in the final term, which started with Bauer dribbling through his fourth major which triggered the Roos into action.
Tyler Sellers clunked every ball that was directed his way and North Melbourne had a five-goal burst that dragged the deficit to under two goals.
Tom Brindley eased the pressure somewhat, with a classy goal from a tight angle which allowed the Tigers to keep their lead to a manageable two goals.

anyone know the details of the pies game?
It is next Sunday at midday - the Ch7 VFL game; so therefore on the same time as our AFL game in Adelaide
Sorry not sure of the venue
-
Yep maybe we should Calm down as Sonsie should have, he lost his temper in frustration as they tagged him out of the game, he will get weeks and learn a few lessons
He’ll learn from it.
Whilst disadvantaging his team during finals.
You do know football is a team sport?

Geez there is no patience shown with some. People do realise where Kaelan Bradtke is coming from.
Actually has a lot of very good attributes for the game and to just dismiss him after what 7 months on the list is crazy.
We took him in what january and he was never going to play senior footy despite lofty expectations from some. Yes he has probably been a bit disappointing with what he has served up but it was a possibility.
with a proper preseason some actual fitness and another 12months then if it doesnt change sure call for his head.

This is one of the rare occasions I agree with you
He's coming from a mile back. Fitness and understanding what's required in an elite sport. His pathway has been different from the kids that come the elite under age programs
I noticed folks when critical of him dropping marks but forgive me didn't Miller fail to clunk a few he should have taken?
I thought when he went in the ruck yesterday he showed enough to say he can play fwd and give a chop out.
He is what we need I think we need to have a bit pf patience give him a full pre-seaon and a chance to improve.

Yeah nah Bradtke is shyte ...worse than most of the players claw constantly bags ..I'd call him a tall Jack Graham but he's not even that good though his supposed pace appears to be just as mythical... :shh

VFL Report: Round 22
Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Sunday's win over North Melbourne at the Swinburne Centre.
Tyler Sonsie (25 disposals, 11 contested possessions, three clearances, one goal)
"Had a good game once again and was a big reason as to why we were able to get over the line, particularly an impressive goal front and centre. Obviously a disappointing outcome for him at the tribunal, but something that Tyler will certainly learn from in the future."
Sam Banks (23 disposals, 11 marks, six rebound-50s)
"I thought he had a really good game. His run and carry was particularly important for us and he continued his good form."
Rhyan Mansell (19 disposals, 10 tackles, six clearances, one goal)
"You know what you're going to get from him, and we saw that in the midfield which was something different for him and a great new challenge. He had 10 tackles and I know that he will benefit greatly from the experience."
James Trezise (18 disposals, four marks, three inside-50s)
"Continued his good form. He impacted both in the air and at ground level, and continues to excite fans."
Tom Brown (18 disposals, six marks, six rebound-50s)
"Once again, he used the ball brilliantly throughout the game. His decision-making and ball use is at a high level at AFL standard, and when he's playing at VFL level it really stands out. Hopefully he gets his opportunity to shine on the big stage in the near future."
Samson Ryan (15 disposals, 33 hit-outs, four marks, two goals)
"Dominated the air. We probably didn't get the most out of that dominance, it would have been nice to make the most of his dominance around stoppage and clearance, as we went down by 14 in clearance."
Bigoa Nyuon (14 disposals, six marks, three rebound-50s)
"He had a really solid game. His last two weeks have really impressed me with his starting points and his physicality. The way he's prepared to his job first and help others second has been really pleasing."
Hugo Ralphsmith (13 disposals, three tackles, three inside-50s)
"Had a relatively quiet day by his standards. We'll get back to exactly what makes him the player he is and a better balance between offence and defence."
Jacob Bauer (12 disposals, seven marks, three contested marks, three tackles, four goals)
"Probably the standout player on the ground. He was a real presence, took three contested marks and he was bombing them from everywhere. Really pleased with the way he was able to impact the game."
Ben Miller (seven disposals, 22 hit-outs, three tackles)
"Was good around the ground in the ruck when he had his opportunity in there. I'd still like him to dominate games of VFL football the way we know he's capable of, and he was a whisker off doing that on the weekend. But, I think it's just around the corner."
Kaelan Bradtke (six disposals, three inside-50s, two marks)
"Unfortunately wasn't able to hit the scoreboard and his impact on the game was minimal. But, we've seen some real aggression from him over the last few weeks."
Seth Campbell (five disposals, two rebound-50s, one clearance)
"Unfortunately Seth went down with an ankle injury early on in the game, but he started really well. We're hopeful that it's not anywhere near as bad as first thought."
Matt Coulthard (five disposals, three tackles, two marks)
"Battled on throughout the day despite injuring his shoulder early on. He was really important for the team and showed great resilience to play his role for the remainder of the game."
