Richmond's loss left them one win and percentage adrift of second-from-bottom North, and in line for their first wooden spoon since 2007.
They would be the first premiership side to then finish last within four seasons since West Coast in 2010.
"The ladder position is irrelevant to us," Yze said.
"What we've dealt with throughout the year has been pretty tough and our whole mindset around the last six or seven games is around finishing the season strongly for our fans.
"I felt like today they would've come to the game and felt the pressure and would've sensed that our players really care.
"That side of it is evident, but our polish and our execution is just off and we've just got to keep working on that."
The Tigers dominated territory early and had more inside-50s (60-44), clearances (39-33) and scoring shots (27-20) than their opponents, but coach Adem Yze was left ruing missed opportunities.
"If we knew we were going to dish up those numbers we'd be pretty happy with the opportunities we created," Yze said.
"But we gave away goals where we can't defend because some of our ball movement was just too scattered.
"It's really disappointing and our players are really disappointed because they felt like they left it all out there today."

Totally agree, he was clearly really peeved
But saying all the players cared was a stupid thing to say IMHO
I think considering everything he's had to deal with this season he's done A reasonable job. But he needs to stop listening to what the media dept is telling him what they think fans want to hear.

Has the club provided him media training or support etc ?. As you suggested, hierarchy and football department has gone MIA.

If he is peeved then let him show it. I want to see some passion rather than just the apologetic ' they tried their heart out' stuff.
Get angry and show some passion. I would love some honesty from the club. Where do you see this list ? What position are we in moving forward ? Dont try and pull the wool over the supporters eyes, we can all see the way we're playing and where this list/club is at.

Why no Blight again. Why no McAuliffe No Bauer. Why not try players in different roles allowing kids to play their natural roles. Why keep on picking Jayden softie Short what kind of message are you trying to send Adem.
I could go on and on im over hearing we have injuries get over it and get on with getting games into what we think the future may be.

WHO CARES? Really. It’s irrelevant and don’t give me this “it’s for the supporters “ garbage.
Most of us listen to oppo coaches squirm after a loss.
