Feel for Poppy Kelly, plays without doubt her best game for the Club and is out injured
Report on the club website it says it's a wrist injury
-
Touching the ball will bring on that risk

Touching the ball will bring on that risk
harsh very harsh Chuck, she was excellent last week
showing improvement in 2024

Wet weather footy tonight. Let's hope we use our brains and adapt to the conditions and not blindly stick to our linking handball gameplan. K.I.S.S winning the contested footy, going long and direct, and winning the territory battle.
-
Conti passes to Brennan 40 out.
That's 50 ump ::). You can't drag a player down after the mark.
Doesn't matter. Brennan kicks it anyway :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
Carl 0.0-0
6 min Q1
Apparently, there's a slight breeze to the end we're kicking this qtr.
-
Graham is getting lost. Needs to either impact if she pushes up the ground or stay back behind the ball.
These umps will not pay us a HTB free by the way ::)
-
Greiser's soccer from 40 out bounces and misses right.
7 - 1
-
Got the turnover at HF. Conti long and Greiser reads the ball better and marks 20 out and runs into an open goal :gotigers.
Rich 2.1-13
Carl 0.1-1

-
Quarter time
Richmond 2.1-13
Carlton 0.1-1
Goals: Brennan, Greiser.
Just keep playing long and direct footy Tiges. No backward handballs.
-
Razor Ray Chamberlain umpiring tonight's game
Which is actually a good thing. His standard is so far superior to the other 2. Having retired AFL umps involved in this comp is a smart move. Just shows how bad the AFLW umpiring standard is
-

Conti 6 disposals

Why wasn't the first one HTB and a free to us ump?! ::)
Some dumb stuff by us in the last couple of minutes. Leave out the over cute 'dry weather' stuff Tiges! :banghead
-
Frees this qtr: 0 - 6
::)
-
That's better Graham. Did well then.
-
Overpossessing by hand. Just get it long to the hot spot Tiges.
-
Half-time
Richmond 2.1 2.1-13
Carlton 0.1 0.2-2
Goals: Brennan, Greiser.
Overpossessed the ball by hand in the last 10 mins. Our small forwards also need to get front and square 10m to either Brennan or Greiser when they are the deep forward.
Conti though has been a stuff. So clean.
-
Yassir is MIA at the moment. Needs to front square everytime it comes in.
They double teaming Greiser and in most contests Greiser is bringing it ground, small forwards nowhere to be found
Left at least 2 goals out there in the 2nd
And gee Carlton's forwards are ordinary and their entries even worse

Does anyone who follows the league closely think we have a decent shot at it this season? The usual suspects of Adelaide, Brisbane and Kangas all seem like the biggest threats (not sure about saints).
Our draw looks incredibly soft, 6 games left against sides that are currently 7th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th.

Yep incredibly soft draw, we have major issues in our side that’ will get found out in finals against the better sides

After tonight there 7 games left. It is an 11 game season over 10 weeks.
IMHO we are definitely a chance as long as we keep our best players on the park. We have the best player in the comp, a player who if she stays fit will be one of the top 5 within 2 years. We have an outstanding captain and overall a very talented list. Obviously we have a few clogged but overall our top tier are excellent
We should be 4-0 not 3-1, the loss to WC was unacceptable but seems to have strengthen their resolve. Couple of big games coming up which will give us a good gauge of where we are at. N0rt are an outstanding team and Geelong have been a bogey side for us. Looking forward to see how we go
We should finsh top 4 and to meed to finish top 4
-
Seems like everything is going swimmingly as it is , regardless of the VFL program
So we could put the VFL program on the backburner and save that cash
When the woman’s program is profitable, jam more resources into it and do the VFL program
-
WP, I can only see 10 rounds listed on the AFL app.
Only playing 1-2 top 8 sides in a 10 round season is some crazy easy draw. Didn’t we finish top4 last season and then go out in straight sets or was that the season before?

Conti runs riot as Tigers stroll past goalless Blues
By Phoebe McWilliams
AFL Media
20 Sep 2024
RICHMOND superstar Monique Conti has led her team to its third win of the season with a resounding 33-point victory over Carlton at Ikon Park on Thursday night.
The Tigers midfielder put together an extraordinary individual performance collecting 32 disposals (18 contested) in her 50th club game, lifting her side to a 6.3 (39) to 0.6 (6) victory in front of a crowd of 1,855.
The reigning AFLW best and fairest winner dominated in and around stoppages, finishing the game with 10 clearances, 580 metres gained and two goal assists.
She was well assisted by fellow mids Grace Egan (24 disposals) and Ellie McKenzie (20).
The Blues will be disappointed with their performance, unable to put a major on the board from 25 inside 50s.
The Tigers adapted to the wet conditions better and were more efficient with their ball use, kicking long and moving the ball quickly to allow their forwards one-on-ones.
The quick ball movement enabled Richmond to score the first two goals, with Conti providing goal assists on both occasions. For the first of the game, she burst out of the stoppage to hit up captain Katie Brennan, and the second came from a long kick to forward Caitlin Greiser who won a marking contest in the goalsquare.
The Blues were dealt a further blow when captain Kerryn Peterson was ruled out with a shoulder injury, leaving them a rotation down on the bench.
Neither team was able to add a major in the second quarter, giving the Tigers an 11-point lead at half-time.
A 50-metre penalty halfway through the third quarter put Greiser within range for her second of the game, while new recruit Ally Dallaway found space from a turnover on Carlton’s kick-in for her first AFLW goal.
Richmond extended its lead to 23 points at three-quarter time.
Carlton had the first few entries inside 50s in the final term, but it was all over when a turnover by Brennan allowed her to kick her second goal and Greiser her third.
Maddy Guerin continued her excellent form with 19 touches, while Gab Pound (17) and Abbie McKay (16) were also busy.
The difference
Carlton coach Mathew Buck said in his post-match press conference that he backed his midfielders to match it with their opposition and therefore didn't place a tag on Richmond's Mon Conti. The Tigers star, who is arguably the League's best player, was left to her own devices, racking up a game-high 32 disposals and 10 clearances in a best-on-ground performance. The Blues' mids have been in form recently, but they were simply outclassed by the Tigers.
From retirement to Richmond
At the age of 36, Tamara Luke made her club debut for Richmond and looked right at home in her new colours. Luke, who played 15 AFLW games with St Kilda and Hawthorn, retired from Box Hill's VFLW side in June, only to get a call-up from the Tigers to be an injury replacement player for Montana McKinnon (knee). With the Tigers' No.1 ruck Poppy Kelly missing with a wrist injury, Luke got her opportunity and impressed with 22 hitouts and three clearances.
Up next
Richmond will return to Ikon Park next week for midweek footy, taking on Port Adelaide on Tuesday night.

TK, it is ten weeks not 10 rounds. Go to what says 5 and you'll see we play 2 games. One next Tuesday and then one the following Sunday.
Last season we missed finals. The season before we finished 3rd and went out in straight sets

When the woman’s program is profitable, jam more resources into it and do the VFL program
Who said the women's program isn't profitable?
There's a soft cap, which we spend in its entirety without a VFLW side. We arecthe only AFL side without a VFLW side and it doesn't make sense. We actually have a licence that we pay the fee for and then we've outsourced to Port Melb
Even you would agree that when the Club bought in a stand alone VFL side it helped improve our men's program and contributed to our dynasty run

What a bizarre way to display fixturing. Another genius idea out of AFL HQ ::)
So we are vsing the kangas. Seems like far and away our biggest challenge in the H&A season. Will get a good look at where we really stand after that game.

Players and the AFLPA (PA represents the AFLW players too) wanted to expand the season to 12 games, HQ said you can 11 games but it will still only be 10 week H&A season.
It is typical of the AFL, pat themselves on the back for having a women's comp but you have to question how serious they take it sometimes

RICHMOND gun Ellie McKenzie is set to miss the Tigers' clash against Port Adelaide after being offered a one-match ban for a dangerous tackle.
McKenzie was cited for her tackle on Dayna Finn during the Tigers' 33-point win over Carlton on Thursday night.
The Tigers midfielder gave away a free kick after the tough tackle on Finn, who hit her head on the ground.
The Match Review Officer graded the tackle as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in the one-match ban.
McKenzie has impressed this season, averaging 19.8 disposals, 3.5 clearances, 3.5 marks and 3.5 tackles.
Richmond (3-1) faces the Power at Ikon Park on Tuesday night.

Great game in the wet. The girls wonderfully led by Brennan. She again was leading by example and hopefully she will be holding up the cup at seasons end. :clapping
Mon Conti absolutely dominated again in the wet. She was clean and carved it up and almost kicked goal of the year. :clapping :clapping
Like the look of our new fill-in Ruck, besides the one dropped mark she looked pretty good and really liked her second efforts. :clapping
Greiser was a major contributor and as much as I've been disappointed in her last few weeks she really used her size to get front position and she used her strength to her advantage and reaped the awards. She read the ball really well and was very clean with the footy. :clapping
Dempsey continues to impress and keeps herself involved the whole game. She's probably one of the fittest in the side because she continues to get into excellent positions and just keeps getting better with age. :clapping
I think Gabby Seymour was really good in defence as was Miller and Graham. Actually our whole defence was pretty dominant all night. :clapping
McKenzie is a beast and continues to dominate, it's a shame she got a one match ban. As I've said before, she is the future Dustin Martin of the AFLW. :clapping :clapping :clapping
Egan was much better especially in the second half. She just needs to get her stupid nothing possessions out of her game and stop hand passing to the opposition. :clapping
Sheerin will improve in the middle. Once she finds her way in there she will be unstoppable. :clapping :clapping
I think our team is definitely a chance this season. Hopefully no injuries and no one gets rubbed out again and there's no reason why we can't go all the way.

Now the MRO has decided to strike (no pun intended) the AFLW and dish out stupid penalties
And BTW it's not that Ellie got cited it's the fact there were multiple tackles during the course of the game like that one and no frees paid, let alone suspension
Correct call was a free, should be nothing more

McKenzie free to play following Tribunal decision
By Richmond Media

Richmond's Ellie McKenzie is free to face Port Adelaide on Tuesday night, after her one-match suspension for rough conduct was downgraded by the AFLW Tribunal on Monday morning.
The star midfielder's charge of rough conduct against Carlton's Dayna Finn from last Thursday night, was re-graded by the Tribunal as careless conduct, low impact and high contact.
As such, McKenzie had her suspension downgraded to a fine, and can line up for Richmond against the Power at Ikon Park in the first match of Week 5 of the AFLW season.

A sensible decision, amazing
