Title: Brownlow 2024 thread
Post by: one-eyed on September 22, 2024, 11:17:29 PM
RICHMOND

It’s really grim reading for the Tigers at this year’s count, and it’s anyone’s guess as to who walks away with the most votes. Wantaway three-time premiership player Daniel Rioli ($3.50) is every so slightly deemed the favourite to lead the count, but with Tim Taranto ($4) and Shai Bolton ($5) not far behind - it’s by no means a bold statement. The WA-bound Liam Baker ($7) could sneak in more than any of them, and in a field where seemingly anything could happen - defenders Nick Vlastuin ($10) and Jayden Short ($17) are also there or thereabouts. Club legend Dustin Martin ($26) will only be a chance to poll in either of their losses in Round 4 or 11, with the latter the more likely.

It’s stuffen embarrassing when the top 5 place getters all get more votes than our whole team

Cripps has won it. Pretty much had it sewn up by the middle of the count.

Mate the winner polled 45 votes. That’s all you need to know about how broken the voting system is now.

It's our second worst Brownlow team total and that's only because in 1925 there were just 12 teams and 17 rounds.

In the 18-team era (excl. covid 2020):

                          Team     Games
                          Total

West Coast 2022    15          22
Melbourne  2013    16          22
GWS          2013    17          22
Richmond   2024    19          23
Brisbane     2016    20          22

LMAO - 45 stuffing votes what a joke....so a whole 9 votes better than Dusty in '17 & 29 more than Sam Walsh next best for the scumbaggers is proof the maggots just focus on a player then half arse the votes...and Gaycos 38 in a team that didn't even play finals......yeah righteo....:propeller

Well, it makes our team strategy for '25 pretty simple - when we play Collingwood we put everybody on Daicos, when we play Carlton all pile on Cripps!     :thumbsup

Sooo Ben Lennon at pick 12 or Patrick Cripps at 13.  I mean they were 21 stellar games we got out of him. Sheesh

True that and guess what else neither player has? Flags

Means nothing

I wonder what our midfield would have been like the last two year with him in it.  Maybe he would have lost the hunger but maybe we would have made finals

Midfield possession contest.
Well done to Cripps but the bont is the best in the comp IMHO

Yes we'd be treading water mid table with a bunch of crap draft picks and bottoming out with Cripps retired/over the hill just as Tassie are coming in... :shh

We most likely would have lost him to WA or one of our other stars trying to fit everyone under the cap. Pretty sure we were maxed out during our dynasty can’t see how you could fit Cripps in there even with the good old front end/back end contract technique.

Highly doubt we would have gone after Taranto & Hopper if we had Cripps......certainly not both of them... :shh

Wouldn’t have even gotten to that point is what I’m saying. No way your fitting Rance, Cotch, Dusty, Jack, Lynch and Cripps under the cap.

Probably but Rance was gone by 2020, Cripps wasn't at peak value until 2021, Cotchin was on less by then as was Jack, covid pay cuts, back ended contracts, players accepting less because we're winning flags which increases their off -field earning potential....where there's a will there's a way... :shh

Saw on 360 that Dillons wife was asked her tip before the count, she said Bont 'but I've been told he's not in the mix'  :o

If 2017 Dusty had played this year it sounds like he would have got about 50-60 votes.

FMD Bont was ripped.

45 votes is such a joke it's disgusting.
