Lloyd said he spoke to a "Richmond great" who asked him if we will win a game this year.

Anyone thinking we won’t win the spoon is in denial.

I think we will 4-6, seriously

At least 4

Don't think we will win the spoon, Saints will have that honour

We will finish bottom 4

We are a few injuries away from barely being able to win a game. Everyone fit and firing, 4-6 is achievable.

6 is a pipe dream

Can’t and won’t happen

We will have injuries

More chance of one win than six

Heck I'd love it if Norf finished last and us 2nd last.

Agree with this along with a bit of dumb luck in close games. Last year could and should’ve been 3 or 4 wins in the early part of the year but we needed some luck come our way along with frankly a more proactive coaching mind set.

I can see a scenario where we are awful for the first couple of months - but eventually the team will “click “ and become more competitive , hopefully ambush a few teams .

Maybe I’m delusional but I think the likes of Baker , Bolton and Graham had checked out last year on top of the catastrophic injury list .
The optimist in me hopes the injection of elite talent might reinvigorate the team and there might be a different energy this year .

I think if Lynch can stay on the park for18 or so games ( which is questionable) our chances of winning 3-5 games improve.

If Lynch goes down after a month with a long term injury- we may struggle to win a game .

We could get a win in a situation similar to the Port game in 2010. Half the side was 21 and under that day.

Midwinter midseason game.
Demoralised opposition who are having a shocker of a year.
Extremely wet conditions that turn the game into a tight contested slog where hunger and effort count far more than skill.
Cubs have a day out where they individually and collectively play well. Even Ben Nason kicked 3 goals in that 2010 game.

I think this is a great point. The way Baker, Graham and Bolton carried themselves on field was a disgrace and showed a complete disregard for the jumper and the opportunities we provided for them.
It couldn’t have had a great impact on the younger players. Thank god for Broady.
The other one is injuries.

Its hard to argue with any of that.  The players who have left really didn't offer us much last year, on top of the worst injury list I've ever seen its no wonder we finished last.
It will take much of the year to sort out the draftees, hopefully by the second half of the season we can be competitive & maybe even snag a few wins.  I'm hoping Lynch can be some sort of playing forward coach, organizing the forward half & maybe kicking a few too.
Expecting bottom 4 at best but looking forward to some young guys developing.
The only way is up now ....

Pre-season Power Rankings

18. RICHMOND

Last season: 2-21, 63.7%, 18th

Some commentary from Nathan Buckley on this week’s On the Couch surprised us; he suggested the Tigers are in as bad a position as the expansion Giants were in 2012. That sounds a bit harsh, right? Sure, Adem Yze’s club just had an expansion-type draft hand, but are we forgetting just how ruined the Tigers were by injuries last year? We’re pretty comfortable saying they only won the wooden spoon because they never had a good run at it health-wise. Now, having seen more of their mature talent leave, they’re definitely pretty bad... but they’re not at THAT level. Their list has an average age of 23.9 with 53.9 average games played - basically what Fremantle was last year. (Which probably says more about Freo to be honest.)

Very close to 0. If we're lucky we will steal one on a wet and windy day. I agree we are 2010 like because a lot of our 30+ games players aren't very good and our 150+ game players are all too old. We have very few in their prime and one of them Balta is suspended. If we get 6 games from Lynch it's a bonus, Prestia too. We could very well be lead onfield by guys like Kamdyn McIntosh. Dark days ahead fellas.

IF ...
Carlton at the MCG in round one is followed by the Power at Adelaide Oval in round two ...

THEN ...
ouch. This is going to be a very long season for the Tigers.

If we have any chance of winning a game Lynch, Taranto and Balta have to have dominant games. Can't see us winning a game if Lynch not playing.

Nope. There have been much much much worse teams. Statistically highly improbable a team goes winless over a 22 game season. There’s a reason it hasn’t happened in 60+ years.

What a disaster that would be for them. I mean I feel like it’s pretty obvious that their 22 isn’t anywhere near a premiership contender but a bottom 4 finish and you’d think they’d have to start the rebuild again.

Power Rankings

18. RICHMOND (1-1, 71.8%)

Last week: Ranked 17th, lost to Port Adelaide by 71 pts

Perhaps it’s a tad harsh to drop the Tigers, given they’ve actually won a game, but nearly beating Brisbane in Brisbane is probably equally as impressive as beating Carlton at a neutral venue. Especially in a game starting at 10 o’clock on your body clock. (Good ol’ fixture, always making sense.) These two teams may alternate between these positions over the season but we would be pretty surprised if anyone else contended for the spoon but them.

The Run Home: Where every AFL club will finish on the ladder

Max Laughton
Fox Sports
June 29th, 2025 8:10 pm

17. RICHMOND (3-12, 64.8%)

Remaining games

Round 17: Geelong at GMHBA Stadium

Round 18: Essendon at the MCG

Round 19: West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium

Round 20: Collingwood at the MCG

Round 21: Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium

Round 22: St Kilda at the MCG

Round 23: North Melbourne at Ninja Stadium

Round 24: Geelong at the MCG

Remaining fixture difficulty: 7th-easiest

The main concern for the Tigers at this point, rather than their own finishing position, is North Melbourne’s since they own the Kangaroos’ first-round pick. So beating North in Round 23 is the top priority. That’d also virtually ensure they avoid the wooden spoon, since we could see the Eagles joining them on three wins but four sounds like a bridge too far.

Fox Footy’s projection: 5.15 wins, finishing 17th

Which seriously bothers me.
We have 2 winnable games coming up against the Eagles and the Bombres. Right now, we won’t get within 8 goals of either team which is a huge worry.
I understand we will finish bottom 3 but I personally think it’s super important to find a way to get another 2-3 wins this season to send message of improvement to the current playing list and those weighing up the options at other clubs.
The Roos are NOT the model we should be following.
The last month of this year is crucial and my hope is that Lalor, Hotten, Gibcus and possibly Smillie make that last month as positive as the first 11 rounds so that list management can get to work on recruiting bigger bodies.
Remember, there’s 6-8 over 30 who are likely to retire in the next 2-3 years
There is no point being younger than Tassie when they join the comp.

We need to start trading for FA NOW. If that is Reid so be it, though im not totally convinced unless i see what our picks are this year.

in 2010 we got the ball rolling with Grigg and Bachar. There is no point waiting around being poo like North.

The inexperience excuse doesn't cut it for me - Yze's had at least half a dozen premiership players at his disposal every match with another 4-5 on the list + Taranto & Hopper who are experienced finals players including a GF & multiple prelims under their belts and other blokes who've been on the list for 4-5 years now, last year he had even more premiership players including Baker , Bolton & Rioli all at or approaching their peaks and could only manage two wins - I don't expect finals or even close to it , but he really should be doing better than 5 wins from 37 games , with the losing margins getting bigger not smaller and no clearly defined game plan that anyone can easily see. :shh.

Personally I hope we beat WCE.

In reality North and ESS will cut us to pieces unless we change something.
Balta on the wing is my suggestion, Young can play forward with Lynch out and Blight can play back. We need to change something. At the moment it is horrendous to watch.

Any way we can get Hodge as some form of coaches assistant??

Been a funny year as a Tiger supporter, unsure what others have felt but from a supporter point of view the fixturing has been a nightmare to attend regularly. With either interstate games, gather round, Marvel, or fully ticketed match ups at the MCG its not been easy. With our crew we regularly go with, we have a mixture of AFL, MCC and Tiger members, we generally just all meet in the general seating, so full ticketed MCG games makes that really hard and we end up seating isolated. Been a shame in that sense.

Playing wise, winning wise it's a rebuild. Hate to say but the year regardless of how it finishes is sort of a pass, winning round 1, and beating Dimma, apart from beating Essendon, they are 2 of the best wins we could have had. So full credit, if we don't win anymore so be it.

I like Yze, for the current phase we are in, I personally don't think he is our next premiership coach, and that doesn't mean I want him sacked but think win/loss ratio isn't the metric to judge him on. It's player development of our next crop. Trainors rise, Lalor started well, Faull been good, Campbell development - it's this I want to see under Yze because that is the key.

What I personally don't really want to see if Prestia, Taranto and Hopper in the middle for CBA's for majority of our games. Understand Lalor and Smillie are injured but I want to see Sonsie, McAullife in there. I mean we are losing anyway, so keen to see development and opportunity over seeing the old guys monopolise spots and we lose anyway.
