Saints at Marvel.
I'm expecting a big loss.
Hope Higgins has a crap game.

Tigers’ burning question: Can the Tigers block out the outside noise?
A side well and truly in rebuild mode, plenty of pundits will have their thoughts on the Tigers throughout the 2025 season, both good and bad.
A month ago there were questions on whether Adem Yze’s side would even win a game, how their youngsters would stack up and if Yze was the right man for the job.
Those queries went away quickly after a stirring victory against the Blues in round one, but now the heat is being projected elsewhere.
Midfielder Tim Taranto has drawn criticism this week for his effectiveness, having been held to just 17 disposals in a heavy loss to Port Adelaide.
“Our players are gonna get criticism left, right and centre – so it’s just how much you want to take in,” Yze said at his midweek press conference.
“What we do know is Tim’s an amazing player, a strong leader around our footy club and when he plays well, we’re in most games,” he continued.
“So all the outside noise, we just try and block it out and help him with that. But that’s always going to be there. But we know how much we love him and how good of a player he is.”
It’s pretty clear that there will be storylines and intrigue surrounding the Tigers all season, but so long as they stick to their guns and the plans in place, they’ll be alright.

Saints ain't all that good. If we're going to pinch wins for the season this could be one of them but ..yeah reality might set in. Still playing a lot of kids with 10 games like Tresize.

St Kilda v Richmond Preview
Ethan Clark
SEN
28 March 2025
St Kilda at Marvel Stadium are a different beast.
They have won six of their last eight games overall, with all wins coming at the venue, so it’s fair to say they should be teeming with confidence come Saturday twilight.
The potential return of Liam Henry and Cooper Sharman will be welcome to add some class to the forward mix; but the loss of Liam Stocker and Hunter Clark removes some experience. Arie Schoenmaker, Tobie Travaglia and Jack Carroll would be in selection talks after strong VFL performances.
Tom Lynch’s Tigers return will be much needed against the Saints, who are still missing Dougal Howard. Tyler Sonsie and Kane McAuliffe pressed their cases for selection in a VFL win last week, while Josh Smillie will need to have a run in the magoos before AFL selection.
The confidence of these young Tigers would have been dinted in the wake of a Port Adelaide smacking. We will have to wait and see which version of the much-maligned side turns out this week.
It should be fairly comfortable for the Saints who have won five of their last six over the Tigers. Although, trustworthiness is not necessarily something you can associate with the side at the moment.
If the best Richmond shows up like we saw against Carlton they can definitely cause a stir, but Ross Lyon would not allow his troops to take this clash lightly.
The Saints have struggled to put away opponents in recent times, but the 48-point win late last year against the Tigers may be a sign of what’s to come.
Prediction: St Kilda by 57 points.

Apologies
-
We can’t play a possessive style because our skills are horrible. We know this from the west coast practice game
-
Started well controlling the ball but now brainfades galore in the last 5 mins :facepalm.
-
Jayden Short two pathetic soft efforts so far leading to 2 shots on goal.
And Ben Miller, can't wait til he's in the 2s
-
We can’t play a possessive style because our skills are horrible. We know this from the west coast practice game
It's more poor decision making so far. Going short in defence to isolated contests where we are outnumbered. Just dumb.
-
What a horrible game
-
Got to kick those Lynchy.
-
Trezise isn’t afl quality. You can see he tries so hard but just isn’t up to the standard
-
Ballwatching thinking the ball was going out when it didn't. Basics!
-
Trezise isn’t afl quality. You can see he tries so hard but just isn’t up to the standard
I've said this a few times but he's so left side dominant if he's not in position he's useless. Agree not AFL standard
-
Well - we’re not 6 goals behind .
That’s a win .
-
Our mistakes are punished, their mistakes aren't.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 1.3-9
St Kilda 3.3-21
Goal: Campbell.
Same number of inside 50s but we've only kicked one goal and that was in the first 5 mins. Too many making poor decisions including senior players who should know better. As wayne says they're punishing our mistakes but we aren't punishing theirs.
-
Our mistakes are punished, their mistakes aren't.
Good call
But again they're having a dip.
We missed 2 we should have got easily
-
Your playing near Sinclair and thinking your playing ok then I reckon you better check the footage.
And if whoever is playing on Hill and thinking your doing ok then I reckon you better spend some time in the vfl
-
Looks like
Armstrong Green has been told to try to stop Sinclair.
-
That's better Lynchy. Great kick :clapping. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 2.3-15
StK 3.3-21
-
Campbell :gotigers
Rich 3.3-21
StK 3.3-21
-
Great goals by Lynch and Campbell.
Campbell has had his fair share of critics too despite being what 20yo?
Has always looked a player IMO.
-
I'm not convinced by Trezise. My feeling is that he has a touch of the scares. Panics a little.
-
Green intercepts at HB. Lalor lace out to Bauer 40 out. Goal! :gotigers
In front :o
Rich 4.3-27
StK 3.3-21
-
I'm not convinced by Trezise. My feeling is that he has a touch of the scares. Panics a little.
Bachar Houli turned out alright
-
Get some cameras with high quality resolution or don't bother. If that vision showed it was definitively touched I'll go hee.
-
Another mistake by a senior player in Broad.
I swear the senior blokes kill our momentum.
And their getting a free pass.
-
Blights agility is absolutely horrible. Don’t think he is really afl standard either. We have a lot of guys playing due to our list lacking talent.. blight, trezise,Dow etc
-
Campbell uncontested mark 15m out and goal :gotigers.
Rich 5.4-34
StK 5.6-36
-
Get Lynch off FFs.
-
I'm not convinced by Trezise. My feeling is that he has a touch of the scares. Panics a little.
Bachar Houli turned out alright
True. But I'm not seeing the run and carry that Bachar was good at.
Brown looks great.
Since my comment Trezise has done some good things.
-
Half time
Richmond 1.3 5.4-34
St Kilda 3.3 6.6-42
Goal: Campbell 3, Lynch, Bauer.
This is a winnable game if we can lower our eyes going inside 50 rather than just bombing it to the pocket. We're getting enough looks. Just wasting too many opportunities and then getting hit on the rebound. Small forwards need to be front and square.
-
Mansell went down into the rooms?
-
Get Lynch off FFs.
Why?
Because he's being mauled by the opposition and the umps are flapping their arms?
-
What's with all the Labor party adds? One after another :banghead
Are our tax dollars paying for them? :banghead
-
Get some cameras with high quality resolution or don't bother. If that vision showed it was definitively touched I'll go hee.
Irrelevant, umps call was touched so was always going to be point if the vision was crap.
Time to send the Arc to same place Noah's ark went.

This is winnable
-
I know he's a favourite whipping boy on here alot
But Hopper has been outstanding.
Not sure how it is appearing on TV but at the ground, outstanding IMHO
-

What poos me is the difference between formula 1 slow motion and AFL.
F1 you can see the most minute details. AFL it's like going back to the 90's.
Watch every individual spark from the undercarriage and piece of debris fly of the wheels.

If it's ump's call then I'm okay with that (if only that happened up at the Gabba in 2022). But the ARC bloke said it was touched by the Saints player's left hand :-\. So it wasn't umps call as far as I'm aware.
Definitely agree with your last sentence WP. The camera quality is so pathetic then why bother with it in these cases.
-
Mansell went down into the rooms?
He did before half-time but he's fine now.
-
That was HTB against Wilkie. FFS!
-
Poor option Lalor. Had two teammates to give off to rather going to Mansell outnumbered.
-
I know he's a favourite whipping boy on here alot

Pretty bad on tv tbh
-

Meh 🫤
He's been ok
I wouldn't say outstanding.
-
Another St Kilda goal on the rebound due to our poor kick to F50.
-
On tv you can really see how inconsistent the umps are when the ball is dropped by a saints player like a hot potato the umps just say play on.
And then next minute......
-
Feels like the flogging is starting in earnest.
-
A bit of a rabble in the last 5 mins. So disappointing.
Not sure why Green was moved off Sinclair btw.
-
There’s been pretty good effort but the skills and decision making are just so far off it’s sad
-
Looks like the dam wall is about to burst
-
Saints out the front again :banghead. Basics Tiges! :banghead
-
Let's see how the coaches react to this :help
-
Not sure why Mansell is still out there?
Shoulder clearly stuffed
-
Yze has no idea
-
Not sure why Mansell is still out there?
Shoulder clearly stuffed
Yeah time to sub off. Ridiculous.
-
Fmd the umps have decided which way they want this to go
-
Armstrong subbed out I reckon
-
Uncompetitive this quarter. Not functioning as a team.
-
Armstrong subbed out I reckon
He’s not close to being ready
Yet
-
Great kick Browny :clapping :gotigers
Rich 6.5-41
StK 10.10-70
-
Armstrong subbed out I reckon
Yes he has been. Smith on.
-
I’m just not sure about playing this way. If we lose I’d rather lose by trying to actually take the game on. When the hawks were bad they still tried to play the game with some dare and attack. This is just depressing stuff
-
Had to kick that Nank.
-
Nank and Mansell gee that's not good enough ffs
-
I’m just not sure about playing this way. If we lose I’d rather lose by trying to actually take the game on. When the hawks were bad they still tried to play the game with some dare and attack. This is just depressing stuff
:clapping
-
Our mistakes are punished, their mistakes aren't.
You called this early wayne. Our last two behinds followed a goal to St Kilda another example.
-
15 to 5 inside 50's this quarter :help
6 goals and counting.
And they've (our coaches) let McCrae of the leash and he's wreaking havoc.
-
Here comes 100 Labor party adds. :help :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Just a team full of battlers. Our classiest player is probably Lalor.. what does that say?
-
Disappointing qtr
But no surprise, we've lapsed for a minimum of a qtr a game all season. Expected with a tram of kids
All about how they respond now
-
3/4 time
Richmond 1.3 5.4 6.7-43
St Kilda 3.3 6.6 12.11-83
Goal: Campbell 3, Lynch, Bauer, Brown
Simply an uncompetitive rabble that quarter. We're going to be outclassed this year, but the effort has to be there. Yze's match-up changes that quarter were odd too. Why change things in the midfield that were working in the first half. Sinclair and Macrae had a field day in the third.
-
The short kicking crap has got to go. Agree, mY as well lose big with some aggressive play. Almost unwatchable that quarter
-
Time to give Sonsie some decent time in the guts
-
Lalor in the guts this quarter.
McIntosh on Sinclair.
-
Kmac goal in the first minute of the last. Comeback on ;D.
Rich 7.7-49
StK 12.11-83
-
That's a lazy kick Short.
-
Want to claw my eyes out. I think Yze does too with the skills on display
-
I'd drag Short for that kick.
-
The lack of ball winners is so clearly our biggest issue. Jayden Short with 24 our biggest possession winner so far today.
Desperately need players who find the footy.
-
Floodgates open
-
Want to claw my eyes out. I think Yze does too with the skills on display
Don’t bring Claw into it
He will be loving it
-
The number of times we've hesitated or second-guessed today is off the charts today. So easy to be punished against.
-
Fitness not that great. We look stuffed.
-
Just blow the stuffing siren
-
Miller is a stuffin joke.
Should never play again
-
Miller is a stuffin joke.
Should never play again
Really? Who we got to replace him?
Who's going to be our defender?
You want Colina or Samson to play defence ?
No idea!
-
Miller is a stuffin joke.
Should never play again
Was our best or close the first half
Plenty worse than him
One of our worst sits in the coaches box
-
Miller is a stuffin joke.

We all need a whipping boy

At least he gets a 10 minute spell

No corridor footy

Going way to wide.
No corridor footy
Please stop posting about the game, this is whipping boy time.
-
Short was rubbish.
Turned it over and he's not accountable to his man.
Rubbish performance.
-
I’m confident St Kilda won’t win the spoon
-
Shining light Seth Campbell and I've been critical. Credit where it's due been good.
-
Halves reversed compared to last week. Yze in his presser will just have swap his comments. Second half has been "not up to standard".
-
Smith off with a hip pointer injury.
-
I’m confident St Kilda won’t win the spoon
Still more than 20 games to go :rollin
-
What I'm most disappointed about is not the result but we bought a kid in who played midfield in the VFL, killed it and has played predominantly as HF flanker
That's pathetic, criminal
-
Taranto has been poor. I know he was tagged but no excuse.
-
I’m confident St Kilda won’t win the spoon
Still more than 20 games to go :rollin
Won’t matter
-
He's had plenty of teammates but Ross has been ordinary the past weeks after a strong round 1.
-
What I'm most disappointed about is not the result but we bought a kid in who played midfield in the VFL, killed it and has played predominantly as HF flanker

Don’t think he will make it
-
Despite the result, I’m still confident we will our 14th flag before St Kilda wins their 2nd
-
Worst performance I've ever seen this from miller.
He should be ashamed of his efforts today.
Short Ross and hopper not that far behind .
Smith has shown more than any of the above
-

What a debacle that was.

Well clearly you are blind or don't care about the VFL,
Some guy deserves a shot. Open your eyes and watch it.
Miller deserves to sit out next week and more.
-
I hope Yze isn't afraid to drop senior players during the year to develop the kids.

Final Score
Richmond 1.3 5.4 6.7 7.11-53
St Kilda 3.3 6.6 12.11 20.15-135
Goal: Campbell 3, Lynch, Bauer, Brown, McIntosh
2.7 to 14.9 after half time :help. Totally uncompetitive. And we haven't played a top side yet. Port and St Kilda are mediocre teams. We've got Brisbane next week :help.
-
What I'm most disappointed about is not the result but we bought a kid in who played midfield in the VFL, killed it and has played predominantly as HF flanker
That's pathetic, criminal
That’s been the whole time under Yze. Can’t kick Taranto or hopper out cos they can’t play anywhere else. Centre square bounce of Taranto hopper and Dow is just so bleak
-

Taranto has had cameos as a midsize forward in the past while Hopper often played HFF for the Giants IIRC.
We have a one-paced midfield. Sonsie and McAuliffe are similar types too. We don't have prime Dusty obviously, Sheds or Bolton anymore who can break from inside out to the outside or a Lambert who can run up and down the ground all day linking up winning heaps of footy. We're back at square one going to have to rebuild our midfield from scratch and we haven't drafted most of them yet.

They’re both completely ineffective at HF imo. Agree on the rest though, I just wonder though when do we kick these guys out and allow Lalor, smillie etc to run the midfield ? I understand the time isn’t now, but Tt snd hopper still have what, 5 years left ? And they can’t play any other positions
-
It amazes me the reactions here. Do you really expect a 4 qtr game from a rebuilding side that isn't going to happen. You get patches here and there from kids or a quarter or half a game. The problem for us is our senior core and second tier they go missing and can't even do basics at times. Rather get beltings with kids then has beens.
-
My main issue is our inability to defend ground balls.
I think Saints were +25-30 but their ability to score from it bothers me.
Would like to more pressure on ball carrier in that situation.
Was the same vs Pies in scratch match
-
Glad we are accepting another 20 goal against match and another 10 goal loss.
Struggling to kick a score over 100 points and leak goals like a river dam.
I see no structure or pressure.
Not sure where the pressure and manic we showed against Carlton regardless how poor they are.
Hard to find 10 positives from this match.
That backline is terrible and whoever is coaching it, should walk now or start dropping players.
Surely Yze needs to spray them all?
hack kicking and hack kicking and hack kicking …
scoring below 80 will attract more questions towards Yze …
Effort, Game Plan, Pressure non-existent!
Don’t understand why Vlastuin went on Wilkie after we were 10 goals down? Why not just leave Harry on Wilkie to learn?
Sub off Short for hack kicking 95% of his kicks!
Yes Harry didn’t touch it, 3 matches, terrible system he needs to play.
Lalor, nothing … Bauer flying and grabbing nothing, even better when he crashes into his teammates for the mark too!
Taranto out of form, something not right … Nankervis tapping it to nobody and lacking it forward…
1st half was shocking, lucky to be in it …
If Mansell gets suspended over that, AFL will have it coming to them …
Ben Miller - Dumb Footballer
Blight - settle him in a position … at least play forward!
Senior players a let down … Short, Broad, Taranto, Hopper - did nothing!
And St Kilda are a poor team, they are a 11th-15th team like Port Adelaide …
AND OMG! CAN WE STOP ZONING AMD PLAY MAN ON MAN!

I don’t think I’m Robinson Crusoe here but I thought halfway during the second we were a decent chance of winning. Our midfield was breaking even and their forward line looked undersized. Imagine the optimism if Nanks disallowed goal went through.
However 14 second half goals to 2 is jolting reality check . The team is looking tired already.
The midfield just looks like rearranged deck chairs .
-
anyone remember Rd 16 2017 at the Dump ?
Aints were leading by 82 @ 1/2 time & we lost by 67
We were pretty much at full strenght except Dustin from memory
It happens

AFL Report Card - Round 3
Will Faulkner, Jack Jovanovski, Ben Waterworth
NCA NewsWire from Fox Sports
March 31st, 2025
RICHMOND
The Tigers fought in the first half but were unable to stick with the Saints, who piled on 14 second-half goals to walk away with a percentage-boosting win. Adem Yze’s side pressured the ball-carrier plenty in the first half but dropped off significantly, resulting in an ugly scoreline as last year’s wooden-spooners slumped to 1-2. “(Yze) would be a bit disappointed. He’s a realist, he understands where they’re at, but he’d be a bit disappointed with the ease with which they’re getting scored against,” Garry Lyon said during the Fox Footy broadcast in the fourth quarter.

Seth Campbell kicked three goals from five scoring shots and looked the Tigers’ most likely offensive threat all afternoon, causing St Kilda early headaches with his liveliness. The 20-year-old would’ve had a fourth if not reversed after a score review revealed slight contact with the post, but his impact wasn’t lost. “I love his finishing … there’s a shining light for the Tigers, he’s managed to be competitive,” AFL legend Jason Dunstall said.
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
Richmond allowed the Saints 21 marks inside 50 on Saturday and was unable to stop their transition movement, particularly in the second half. “Once it gets inside 50, the Richmond defenders (combating) repeat entries are just getting weary and can’t get (to) a ground ball,” Lyon said on Fox Footy.
