Who is gunna run with me? out with the regular failures and old hacks in with the kids.

Who cares this year if we cop our share of beltings. We cop gutless performances like tonight from senior players anyway.

Might be time to have a look at Alger and Smillie at Rioli and Greene’s expense
Balta in for Gray
Brown has to start

Sonsie (14 possessions) apparently lost interest in the VFL game when Colina allegedly tried to kick the ball and missed his foot.

I don’t think anyone is knocking the door down at VFL level at the moment.

I tortured myself and watched 3/4 of the game against Casey - yikes .

You can’t reward Sonsie or Kane Mac .

Smilie needs to earn selection in the AFL .

Did I see Lynch now has a foot issue?
Something flashed up on the news but I missed it.

Here's the Ch 7 report.

It's the other foot than the one that kept him out last year.

Lynch thinks he is 95% out of the woods  :pray.

As bad as we were last night and plenty had shockers, I don't see us making too many unforced changes. We're going to be up and down all year. I think Yze will back a lift in effort instead.

In: Balta

Out: Gray (unlucky)

ps. I think we'll debut Smillie against the Eagles the week after.

Tend to agree with MT, can't see there being many changes

INS: Balta, McAuliffe (need another mid)

OUTS: Gray (unlucky), Green

Tom Lynch is good to go. Recovered well over the weekend after a foot scan as a result of being stomped on. Noah Balta will train and play against the Hawks. Probably replaces Campbell Grey, who was impressive on debut with three intercept marks.

What I would like to see vs what will happen

In: Balta, Smillie (should debut at the G)
Out: Miller, Short

Vs

In balta
Out grey

For what it’s worth I’d also look at dropping Ross for kmac2. He’s been really poor since rd 1 imo.

Would like to see if they can give Grey another game

Out: Miller, 1 of Mansell/MRJ/Green, Short

In: Balta, Smillie, Brown

1 of Smith/Sonsie/Mcauliffe to come in as the sub.

5 years into the AFL and Mansell has really only had the 1 solid season which in fairness was last year where he averaged 1 goal a game from 10 possessions. Has gone backwards this year with 0.5 goal per game and 10 largely meaningless possessions after a seemingly huge pre season. I’d give him a spell in the 2’s to rebuild his confidence

Team Tips:

Spearhead forward Tom Lynch should be right to go this Sunday after having his foot trodden on last Thursday against the Demons, while Noah Balta is set to return after missing on Anzac Day Eve due to his 10pm curfew.

Debutant Campbell Gray was solid in defence, taking three intercept marks before being subbed out tactically with the Tigers down and in need of more attack coming out of the back half — and he’d seem the unlucky exclusion for Balta.

Tom Brown began as the sub, with Adem Yze presumably continuing to manage his younger talent through a long season after handing the duties to Luke Trainor in Round 6.

Maurice Rioli could see his spot in the side come under threat after going scoreless with just four disposals and two tackles in 61 per cent game time. The livewire forward applied his usual ball pressure but was prone to a few mistakes with ball in hand; an unfortunate common theme with the 22-year-old.

The VFL Tigers were thumped by Casey at the weekend, but in a promising sign, No.7 pick Josh Smillie was the side’s equal-leading ball-getter with 24 possessions. Kaleb Smith added 23 disposals.
