Great forward pressure so far. Dominating inside 50s 13-1. Just need to convert this dominance into goals. Going too deep instead of lowering the eyes.

Down here at Frankston (made a promise on Monday night and kept my word ;D)
Very poor last minute, gifted them a goal.
First time I've seen some of the cubs live.
Just on Sims, I know it's early days and I've no doubt it will come in time but he needs to learn to impact contests. Can't stand back and let the opposing ruckman take uncontested marks. Sometimes you need to leave you man to hit a contest
-
Blight had his ankle re-strapped.
-
Geez Bauer is down on confidence. Should have marked that.
OHB has gone way past Colina.

Good response in the last 10 mins after Box Hill got back to within 19 pts.
OHB's best game by a mile so far :o.
-
Hmm- Mansell & MRJ or Raso & Alger in the forward line right now? :shh

I'm going to make a prediction
Kane McAullife will Captain the RFC one day. So vocal, footy smarts and the way he directs and encourages his teammates.
Great stuff :clapping

Hmm- Mansell & MRJ or Raso & Alger in the forward line right now? :shh
Alger is more talented but still a bit raw and inconsistent as a first year player. Raso deserves to be on an AFL list with his small forward smarts and knowing where the goals are.
-
Get Colina out of the ruck and put OHB back in there.
-
Juddy has it on a string …. just needs to do something with it ….
-
Get Colina out of the ruck and put OHB back in there.
More like off the list
-
Dumb Bauer. Undisciplined letting his frustrations get to him.
We're on top in general play but not making the most of our inside 50s this quarter.
-
Get Colina out of the ruck and put OHB back in there.
More like off the list
Yep. He won't be at Punt Rd next season.
-
OHB is only effective in the ruck. He's not mobile enough to play forward.
-
Colina can't bend down and runs over the ball in the middle and Box Hill get a goal out of it :scream.
71 - 45
-
The number of inside 50s we are wasting :banghead
Lucky bounce and then fumble by the Hawks player saves us from a certain goal to them.
-
Doing our best in the last 10 mins to try and gift them goals :scream.
Thankfully the siren saves us.

Terrible qtr.
Lot of selfishness throughout the 3rd
A couple of blokes in particular

Yep. He won't be at Punt Rd next season.
Don’t be so sure, they’ve kept him on the list for years despite being injured most of the time and showing nothing when he is fit.

Shocking aimless quarter. As WP said lots of selfish individual play. For all the possession we had we wasted every inside 50 for no goals and then became totally clueless in the last 10 mins.

-
Doing our absolute best to lose this game
-
Just switched on and we look pathetic.
Skills are woeful. Not sure how were in front.
Two tigers just let a goal through. My god.
Smillie a mile of AFL, looks a bit soft for me
-
:facepalm
Tiger defenders ballwatching and looking at each other as the ball flies between them and the Hawks get a goal :banghead.

Can we just stop lazily bombing the ball down the line to Hawks :banghead

OMG

Another soft goal. This time letting them out the front from a D50 stoppage :banghead

Just 1 point to 4.9 since half-time.

Can't even spoil the ball out of bounds ::)
We're just become a rabble. There's no structure nor gameplan.

Final Score
Richmond 6.2 11.4 11.5 14.7-91
Box Hill 3.1 5.1 7.5 9.12-66
Goals: Alger 3, Raso 3, McAuliffe 2, Hayes-Brown 2, Lai 2, Bauer, Johnson.
Good first half. Terrible second half until the last 10 mins sparked by McAuliffe's clutch goal and who was our BOG.
Sonsie the 24th man emergency as he didn't play the last quarter by the look of it. His first half was very good.
Smith had 31 disposals off half-back.
Gray responded to being dumped. 9 intercepts. Our best defender.
Kosi actually had a decent game also as an intercepter.
Smillie solid but nothing to write home about.
OHB also was good in the first half in the ruck but didn't touch it in the second half.
Colina - pass.
Our young tall forwards were the main disappointment. Couldn't hold onto their marks tonight.
-
Impressed by Alger and Kmac.
Smilie looks worryingly average.
Wasn't a fan in his draft year either and has things he needs to work on but he'll be a player soon enough - already hard to tackle and is only going to get harder to stop. :shh

To answer your question - both. :shh
No was just curious because the 2 sides have different fitness teams.
Certa8nly agree some of the Cubs ran of legs in the last qtr, Smillie in particular
-
Clutch goal by Mcauliffe. We were well and truly on our way to a loss without that going in.
As good leaders do
-
Impressed by Alger and Kmac.
Smilie looks worryingly average.
Just on young Josh, and this is just my observation from watching the game live. He needs to concentrate more on playing team first footy rather Smillie first footy. When he does the team things first he looks very good, when he doesn't he looks average and dare I say it selfish. I've got no doubt with time he will get the balance right
-
Colina ….😢
VFL players
Razo looks lively, quick skills and opportunistic
Johnson looks OK too, nice style and delivery
-
Smith's 31 disposals were sideways chips and kick ins.
-
Very impressed with Kmac, love that damaging left foot! Has his faults still & that's keeping him in the seconds, but I can see a future for him. Sonsie teases, has obvious class but falls off the cliff too often. If he can lift his whole game up he can make it. Razo impressive too.
As a team we fell over the line, we ran ourselves ragged & then had to save it in the last. I'd rather fall over the line than to blow it all day & then fall short (like Whoreforn did!).

Richmond VFL hold on against Hawks
By Connor Burn
Richmond Media
4 May 2025
The VFL Tigers defeated Box Hill by 25-points on Saturday night in Frankston, staving off a late comeback.
Richmond responded perfectly to last week’s big loss against Casey, kicking six goals in the first quarter to establish a 19-point quarter-time lead. Young Tiger Jasper Alger kicked a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game, followed by Massimo Raso only minutes later. Ruckman Oliver Hayes-Brown also started well, kicking two first-quarter goals.
Richmond carried on the momentum in the second quarter, piling on a further five goals with Kaleb Smith and Kane McAuliffe starring. Second-gamer Sean Lai also kicked his first VFL goal with a brilliant running effort. Going into the main break, Richmond established a comfortable 39-point lead and looked to be running away with the game.
However, the Hawks came out of half-time looking like a different side, running the gauntlet on offence and moving the ball quickly as they worked their way back into the contest. Goals to Max Ramsden and Ben Cavarra reduced the margin back to 24 points at three-quarter time as the Tigers could manage only a solitary point for the term.
In the last quarter the match really tightened up, with goals to Kye Declase and Sam Butler making things tense for Richmond.
The Tigers needed something special to gain back ascendancy, and it came in the form of McAuliffe, who won a free kick and booted a goal with a massive bomb from outside 50. Alger then kicked his third of the match to seal the game, as Richmond ran out 25-point winners and secured their first win since Round 3.
For Richmond, Smith continued his great form with a game-high 31 disposals and 10 marks, while McAuliffe (23 disposals and two goals) was also crucial. Small forwards Raso and Alger (three goals) were at their dangerous best and provided plenty of headaches for the Box Hill defence.
Richmond 6.2. 11.4. 11.5. 14.7. (91)
Box Hill 3.1 5.1 7.5 9.12 (66)
Goals: Alger 3, Raso 3, McAuliffe 2, Hayes-Brown 2, Lai 2, Bauer, Johnson

Great stuff :clapping
Said this when we drafted him and his first pre season was fantastic for a young kid.
Completely agree WP, and is one of the reasons why I don't mind him playing VFL and leading down there as opposed to a Sonsie treatment of being sub / fwd pocket in AFL.
-
Liked Judson's game particularly in first half. McAuliffe deserves a call up.
-
Liked Judson's game particularly in first half. McAuliffe deserves a call up.
Judson's 1ft half was good
2nd half not so much. Played some selfish footy instead of team first footy

Player by player VFL report: Round 6
The Richmond VFL side got back on the winners list in Round 6, defeating Box Hill last Saturday night. Here’s how coach Jake Batchelor assessed the performance of each player.
Kaleb Smith (31 disposals, 10 marks, two tackles)
“A great game, all three phases were strong. He was engaged with his teammates and had some big plays when the moment arrived for him. He stepped up and played his role extremely well.”
Kane McAuliffe (23 disposals, eight marks, 11 tackles, two goals)
“Best on ground, he was extremely impactful around the ball. He drove his legs, was aggressive with his tackles and his follow-up work was great. He was also very alert and active on defence.”
Tyler Sonsie (20 disposals, three marks, two tackles)
“Really impactful game as a high half-forward, didn’t go chasing the ball and played his role really well and was really selfless in our forward 50.”
Jacob Koschitzke (18 disposals, 10 marks, seven intercept possessions)
“A great performance as a key-defender, he was strong in the contest, played the system well and won the ball back well for us. He had some big moments when the game was getting close.”
Jacob Blight (18 disposals, seven marks, five intercept possessions)
“Strong role as a defender working with Kozzi and Campbell Gray, he had some good opportunities, and he used his feet really well. He was involved in our attack really strongly and had some good aerial moments.”
Josh Smillie (17 disposals, one mark, four tackles)
“Great improvement from last week, he was tough on the inside, drove his legs well and used his body extremely well for us. He also improved his defensive awareness.”
Judson Clarke (16 disposals, two marks, seven intercept possessions)
“Played the wing role really well, inside and outside, and ran all day. Equal second highest intercept possession winner and he had a great body spoil on the Box Hill ruck to save a goal late.”
Campbell Gray (12 disposals, six marks, nine intercept possessions)
“He won the ball back for us the most with nine intercept possessions and four intercept marks. He kept working on the fundamentals of his defence with reading the play. His tackling was strong, his aerial contests were strong and like every week his effort was strong.”
Thomas Sims (nine disposals, three tackles, six hit-outs)
“Played second ruck for us and competed really strongly. Six spoils as a key-forward is an interesting statistic but I loved that when he was behind, he played the percentages and embraced the role.”
Liam Fawcett (nine disposals, two marks, one tackle)
“Barely got out marked all day against two opponents, he brought the ball to ground so the small players could get to work. The game will come where they all stick for him.”
Jasper Alger (nine disposals, three marks, two tackles, three goals)
“Improvement from last week in terms of finishing his work, he had a great opportunity to share the ball inside-50 which he did really well. It was great team first behaviour.”
Jacob Bauer (eight disposals, three marks, one goal)
“Another one that just played his role and will be better for that. He made the ground really big when we needed to attack and impacted the scoreboard. It was a good improvement on last week.”
Oliver Hayes-Brown (four disposals, two marks, eight hit-outs, two goals)
“Kicked two of our first three goals and looked really potent when he was forward for us. He’s still learning the ruck craft but I think he’s improving well.”
Mate Colina (one disposals, one tackle, three hit-outs)
“Tough game and a tough day for him, he hurt his knee at the first centre bounce and fought really strongly throughout the rest of the game to continue to help us get rotations in, so he will be missed.”
