Title: Changes for next week against the Swans?
Post by: one-eyed on May 31, 2025, 07:13:41 PM
I think everyone got through unscathed at least touchwood.

Balta will be able to play seniors next week.

Fire away with your changes?

Barring any injuries, think they’ll just bring balta back for trainer/gray.

Agree, though if we won I wouldn't make any changes

Trainor needs a rest maybe.

Balta for him.

Still think Blight is stiff missing games ongoing.

I think Mykelti comes in for Faull who hasn’t done much wrong- but probably needs a rest .

We have a bye after Sydney they all get a rest then.

Most likely to be dropped or rested would be

Faull work rate has been good but he still is not getting much ball maybe a case to send him back.
Green very little ball again two goals does that save him.
Trainor a bit quite again
Smithy had a quieter game but seemed to have a more accountable game.
Brown was a bit quiet.

Thought the backline stood up pretty well not sure  we should make a change back there.

Maybe something a bit outside the square and ruck Balta.Certainly gives us flexability and cover in all areas of the ground.
Pretty sure Balta will play otherwise with the bye he will have missed a month.

Team Tips:

The Tigers lost a heartbreaker against GWS, but they led for 110 minutes of the contest, so it’s hard to foresee many unforced changes.

There’ll be at least one, though, with Noah Balta eligible to play in Richmond’s Saturday afternoon MCG bout with Sydney that starts at 1:10pm.

The conversation will revolve around whether there’s room for all of Balta, Ben Miller and Campbell Gray in defence or otherwise.

Another change could see a spell in the reserves for first-year utility Luke Trainor, who’s now been subbed off tactically in back-to-back weeks. Trainor played up forward against Essendon in Dreamtime at the ‘G but appeared to play more of a hybrid role against the Giants — but it netted just nine disposals and one mark in 59 per cent game-time.

Kaleb Smith (13 disposals) could make way this week, but it won’t be for Jayden Short, who’ll miss at least another week with his ongoing calf complaint.

At VFL level, Judson Clarke continues to press his case for his season debut at senior level, notching two goals and eight marks from 27 disposals against the VFL Giants. Mykelti Lefau is another recent ACL victim pressing his case for a senior return, but he was quieter at the weekend after slotting two majors last week, and Jonty Faull and Tom Sims continue to compete in the forward half.

Everyone knows ive pushed hard for kids kids and more kids. This week im with the majority.

Im all for getting Clarke into the team asap and i think Balta is a no brainer.
Trainor and Green out for me.
With the Bye next week a  rest is coming for most of them.

I agree he had a pretty good defensive game but was a bit quite getting ball etc.
Played most game on Greene and kept him fairly quite.

The Tigers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Greater Western Sydney ahead of hosting Sydney at the MCG on Saturday. Defender Short is another week away from returning from a calf injury, while others are still further behind in their recoveries. Defender Noah Balta is set to return, having played in the VFL last week due to his court-imposed curfew. Judson Clarke (27 disposals and two goals) impressed in the VFL as he continues his return from an ACL injury, while Maurice Rioli jnr (25 and two) caught the eye playing more midfield minutes.
