All emergencies playing but one will only play a half before heading to the 'G.
Scrappy start.
Cameraman doesn't have a zoom.
Clarke's ping is touched on the line for the first score.
1 - 0
-
3 gettable goals missed, Bauer lining up.
Kicks it finally
-
Lefau marks in the centre and gets 50 for an off the ball free. Set shot from 40 misses badly though :P.
We get it back and Fawcett marks 40 out. And he kicks it off the side of the boot too :P.
We get it back again via Gray's intercept and pass to Bauer 25m out. Finally, a straight kick for a goal :gotigers.
Edit: Beat me too it pmac :thumbsup.

Good transition right through the middle of the ground - Scott to El Nour to Collier who goes long. Alger crumbs the goal :gotigers

-
Garner inside 50 to the pocket where Alger marks in front on the boundary line. Across the face for a point.
23 - 1
-
Fawcett ping from the pocket is sprayed OOTF.
Swans defender coughs it up inside D50 to Scott. Passes to Lefau in the pocket. Misses as well.
24 - 1
Should be 7 goals up :scream.
-
Taking after the seniors. 3.6 with very gettable set shots.
Do they practice enough at training? I don't know.
-
Ground looks a picture
Not :banghead :help
-
Taking after the seniors. 3.6 with very gettable set shots.
Do they practice enough at training? I don't know.
Not as a specific drill. Usually just a few shots at the end of training by some of the forwards.
Many AFL clubs don't take goalkicking seriously and it costs them. Us last week obviously (we're one of the worst) and Brisbane last night.
For all the tactics trying to find that 'edge', goalkicking is the obvious area that needs improvement. It needs to be treated professionally with time allocated at training as well as focusing on proper technique.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 3.7-25
Sydney 0.1-1
Goals: Bauer, Clarke, Alger.
Dominated but didn't put it on the scoreboard. As pmac said most were not tough set shots.
-
Maurice started up forward :facepalm and of course didn't touch it. Put in the middle to start the second quarter.
Maurice out of the middle. From the throw-in, Clarke has a ping but misses too.
26 - 1
-
There was an issue with Gray at the end of the 1st qtr. He hasn't started the 2nd and is in the rooms.
Maurice now aided off the ground by trainers. Commentators saying a groin?
-
Swans kick their first.
26 - 8
-
Alger is killing them. He's a good mark. Kicks his 2nd.
-
That was terrible defending by the Swans to allow Alger to mark that.
Rich 4.8-32
Syd 1.2-8

-
Well there goes Clarke. Looks like the knee gone again. Poor kid
-
Clarke now limping off to the boundary after taking a contested mark. In a lot of pain :(.
-
Clarke looks like he's done his knee again.
-
Should be playing on the G this Arvo.
-
Well there goes Clarke. Looks like the knee gone again. Poor kid
Yep way he punched the ground, he knows
-
Should be playing on the G this Arvo.
Silly statement
-
Scott inside 50 and Fawcett pushed out gets the free 35 out on a 60 degree angle. Shanks it again off the side of the boot :help. It's a technique problem when you keep dropping the ball onto the outside of your boot.
33 - 8
-
FMD - should've been in the firsts instead of playing on a stuffing beach. >:(
-
Maurice at least back on the ground.
Fawcett gets a free again. Same distance and angle opposite side. Finally, kicks it straight through.
Goal! :gotigers

Syd 1.2-8

FMD - should've been in the firsts instead of playing on a stuffing beach. >:(
Agree the ground poor but to suggest this would not have happened on the MCG is well silly
-
Colina drops the mark at HF and then gives away the free at the ball-up inside D50. Goal to the Swans.
Then we give away another free after the goal was kicked.
:banghead
39 - 20
-
Really hope it’s not a knee for Clarke. Don’t know if it’s the same knee, regardless he had done a diligent rehab. Some knees just can’t handle afl. Poor guy
-
And they ping another from the boundary.
39 - 26
The Swans are now lifting because we kept them in the game with our pathetic goalkicking and ill-discipline :banghead.
-
Inside 50s 31 - 14
Frees 6 - 13
-
They are now winning the contested ball and get another :banghead.
39 - 32

Really hope it’s not a knee for Clarke. Don’t know if it’s the same knee, regardless he had done a diligent rehab. Some knees just can’t handle afl. Poor guy
He's done both knees previously
One in under 18's and then the opposite one last year
-
Half-time
Richmond 3.7 5.9-39
Sydney 0.1 5.3-33
Goals: Alger 2, Bauer, Clarke, Fawcett.
Pathetic last time 10 mins but when we collectively have poor goalkicking and tackling technique :banghead we only have ourselves to blame that the game wasn't put away in the first 45 mins.
And we're down to just two on the bench with Gray and Clarke both off the ground injured :( and Trezise likely now being the 24th man for the seniors and won't be playing in the second half.

Clarke on crutches with ice on his right knee according to the commentators.

That wouldn't have been spoiled Fawcett if you had your arms out-stretched rather than going for the chest mark.
Trezise makes a howler in the middle.

The simple schoolboy errors are what are killing us today :banghead.

2 players down ...or 3 if you count Colina.... :banghead
Yep. This has to be Colina's last year. He can't get near the ball to contest.
-
Blight is great at marking and positioning but pretty poor at everything else. Absolutely no awareness on two occasions within 30 seconds there.
-
Rioli nice pass inside 50 and the debutant MacDonald marks 45 out. Misses.
48 - 39

The difference between OHB and Colina is now stark.

Once again we don't pin the free arm in our tackles :banghead which allow the Swans to keep it alive in their F50.
Then our defenders misjudge the flight of the high ball and allow a mark to the Swans 20 out and a goal :banghead.
55 - 45
-
...and like clockwork we give one straight back.... :banghead
-
Frees: 8 - 19
-
Add our handballing to the woeful list today. These 5m handballs to teammate's feet or we just fumble.
Very lucky as the Swans could have got a goal out of it but the Swans player played on rather than take the set shot and the siren saved us.

VFL Tigers tame Swans in a thriller
By Connor Burns
RFC website
7 June 2025
Richmond 3.7 5.9 7.13 8.16 (64)
Sydney 0.1 5.3 7.3 9.5 (59)
Goals: Alger 3, Rioli, Lefau, Fawcett, Clarke, Bauer
--------------------------------------------------------------------
After a blistering first quarter by the Richmond VFL side, Sydney mounted a comeback, but it was the Tigers who clawed onto a five-point lead to win a thriller on Saturday.
On a wet and soggy day out at Beaconsfield, it was the Tigers who got off to a fast start, kicking three quick goals to gain the early ascendancy. Richmond continued to dominate time in forward half, with 18 inside 50’s to six for the quarter, but for all its control, it was wasteful in front of the big sticks, kicking 3.7 to 0.1 in the first quarter, to lead by 24 points at the first break.
As the second term commenced the Tigers continued to dominate inside-50s, with young forward Liam Fawcett providing a major focal point in the front end. He kicked an early goal to push the margin beyond five goals.
Matt Lloyd then responded for Sydney with back-to-back goals, which included an awarded free kick after the first major, bringing the margin back to three goals despite all of the Richmond’s dominance.
Sydney finished the quarter with all of the running, kicking late goals through Jesse Dattoli and Will Green to cut the margin to just six points at the main break.
Maurice Rioli kicked his first goal of the game after half-time, giving the Tigers some much-needed breathing room.
But the Swans responded with an instant reply through Ned Bowman, on the back of a disastrous turnover for the Tigers.
The game was a stalemate for a large part of the quarter with the Swans flooding numbers back and holding up defensively. But Jasper Alger produced a bit of magic with a set shot from the boundary to get the scoring flowing again.
As Sydney had done for most of the game, they responded straight away with a mark and goal to Harrison Podmore-Taylor to keep the game within reach for the Swans.
With a quarter to play the Tigers held a 10-point advantage, before Mykelti Lefau kicked his first goal of the game early in the last, followed by Bowman’s second for Sydney, as the arm-wrestle continued.
The Tigers barely scored for the rest of the game, as the Swans gained control of forward territory for almost the first time in the match. But late misses leading into the final siren meant Richmond hung on for a gritty five-point win.
Richmond’s VFL captain Lachlan Street took another great step forward after returning from injury, finishing the game with 30 disposals and nine clearances.
Alger also impressed once again with three goals to go along with 14 disposals.
Judson Clarke and Campbell Gray both left the game early with knee injuries.

Sad, no one other than Blight really putting their hand up
-
Blight has been putting his hand up for weeks.
Balta walks up every time.
Broad been ok bar a crap game this week.
Miller been solid.
Dunno why we don't play Blight in the backline and rotate someone else forward or ruck like Balta, maybe Brown forward etc.
Faull needs a rest imo.
-
We enter the bye week sitting in 4th spot with a 7-3 record (https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/1f44f.svg)

Agreed!
I'd bring Blight in too. Find a spot for him.
