AFL Round 15
RICHMOND vs Western Bulldogs
Sunday, 22nd June @ Marvel Stadium
Start time: 3:20 pm

-
Bulldogs destroy the teams they should.
-
Yeah think we’re in for a thrashing in this one.
-
Might surprise ourselves with an honourable loss
-
I'd like to try something against the Burpdogs! Float Thomas Sims in front of Darcy, not as a direct opponent but to make Darcy jump over Sims to get to the ball. Noah would get the full time gig on Darcy with a bash (!) & crash licence, but lets make it hard for Darcy to get a clean run at the ball. He wont jump over Sims while nursing that knee & that takes half of his game away.
It may not win the game but I could enjoy watching them struggling to deal with it!
Oh ... and somebody to pants Naughton too (probably Miller) ...
-
It’ll be Miller time on Darce
-
This year the Dogs have been exposed against the top sides, but they love to beat up on the sides below them. So, this could get very ugly if we dish up a similar 'effort' to the Swans game :P.

Dwyane going out on a limb there ::) :rollin :help
-
Reckon we'll shut down Darcy like we shut down Hogan.
-
Midfield are the key to keeping Darce quiet. With the Cats, the Doggies have hands down the best i50 kickers in the comp. If our mids can’t put pressure on their ball carrier, Darce will easily kick 6 goals plus.
Think Josh Treacy a few weeks ago in that first qtr….
-
Bulldog midfield highly skilled. They made St Kilda look slow. They also have numerous goal kicking options. If play the way we played against Sydney looking at a real thrashing.

And if we play like we did against GWS for 3 qtrs it will be a ripping game,e :) ;D

Except this time we'll need to play like that for 4 quarters and actually convert our chances. :shh

Western Bulldogs v Richmond Preview
Andrew Slevison
SEN
19 June 2025
The Western Bulldogs enter this Sunday night fixture fresh off a 72-point demolition job of St Kilda when piling on their highest score (132) of the season.
It marked the return of Sam Darcy who kicked 3.2 from 19 touches and nine marks in a performance that would have Doggies fans feeling pretty good about themselves.
Add to that the outrageous form of Ed Richards, plus strong contributions from the likes of Rory Lobb, Bailey Williams, Matt Kennedy, Adam Treloar and Joel Freijah, among others, and it’s looking good for Luke Beveridge right now.
Richmond, on the other hand, enter fresh off a bye which came on the back of a 44-point defeat to Sydney.
The rebuilding Tigers have surprised many by winning three games and almost winning two others. It appears as though the regeneration is going to plan on face value.
However, they’ve recently struggled against the Dogs who have enjoyed two smashing victories in the past two seasons. It was a 91-point result at the MCG in Round 9 last year after a 55-point triumph in Round 21, 2023. The Dogs have also won three in a row (including by five points in Round 4 of 2023).
While Adem Yze’s Tigers will be eager to give a better account of themselves after a week off pondering the subpar Swans performance, it’s almost impossible to tip them against the Doggies at Marvel.
The Bulldogs have a penchant for kicking massive scores under the roof and belting lower-ranked teams. They get that setup on Sunday and it should all be academic from there.
Prediction: Western Bulldogs by 40 points.

Yze up to the “test” of the Dogs
By Henry Milic
RFC website
21 June 2025
With the young Tigers squad well rested after their bye last week, Senior Coach Adem Yze is confident his side is ready for the opportunity to test themselves against a quality opposition in the Western Bulldogs.
“We look at it as a great opportunity for our Club to test ourselves against a really good team,” Yze said on Thursday.
“We can’t wait for the opportunity. We will go in there as a footy Club with our VFL playing beforehand.
“We understand what’s coming and we have some tough games ahead, but those tough games give us a good opportunity to play against really good players.”
Yze gave his thoughts on how he will look to combat the impact of Bulldogs key forward Sam Darcy.
“He is obviously a talented player (Darcy) and it didn’t take him long to get back into form (after returning from injury),” Yze said.
“Noah Balta is obviously down there as well, Nathan Broad has done jobs like that before. But I do know that he is a big guy, and probably both of them will share that responsibility.
“Steve Morris (Backline Coach) will look at that and look at the reasons as to why we would go either way."
Minimising the Bulldog’s run through their stoppage work will also be a focus for Yze's side come Sunday.
“Their numbers are amazing on how potent they are at stoppage, and with that is obviously a threat, but a huge opportunity,” Yze said.
“I love the look of our midfield, and they see that as a great opportunity to test ourselves against one of the best midfield teams in the comp.
“When you look at stoppage scores across the board, our backs have to be ready for it and our mids have got a responsibility for it. We want to maximise the ones that we win."
Despite the side dropping their last four matches, Yze said the goal remains the same for the second half of the season.
“Nothing has really changed. We expect our players to get better every day and come in and improve, and as a group, we expect to be competitive,” Yze said.
“We are in a process of playing, performing, reviewing and doing that at a high level.
“It has been good for everyone (the bye week). It gives us a breather, and now we are looking at the second half to see what we can do.”

IF ...
the toughest task in footy in 2025 has quickly become stopping Sam Darcy ...
THEN ...
it's your turn this week, Noah Balta. Good luck.

Jokes on Barrett.
We'll play Miller on him.
Haha.
-
LATE CHANGE
Western Bulldogs: Ryley Sanders (illness) replaced in the selected side by James Harmes
SUBSTITUTES
Western Bulldogs: Buku Khamis
Richmond: Jasper Alger
https://www.afl.com.au/news/1345355/follow-it-live-greater-western-sydney-giants-v-gold-coast-suns-western-bulldogs-v-richmond-tigers-afl-round-15-2025
-
No intensity right off the bat. Could be a bad one
-
Yep poor signs early. Dogs have come to play while we still seem to be on our bye break :help.
-
Nice play and mark but Faull's got to work on his goalkicking.
With Kmac's miss that's two chances blown already.
-
Kmac another missed snap.
The goals are between the two bigs sticks Tiges :banghead
-
Make that 4 misses :banghead
-
Goal kicking putrid again. Inexcusable
-
Every game HRS shows he can only run fast when he’s going down hill. Just plodding along towards the ball and bontempelli there… where the pressure ? Gets side stepped so easily too. So sick of his efforts like that every single game
-
Just snuck in ..... finally we get a goal via Green.
9 - 19
-
Sub kmac off now.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 1.3-9
W.Bulldogs 3.3-21
Goal: Green
After the first 5 mins, you can't knock the effort. But, while we don't take goalkicking practice seriously we deserve what we get. Amateur hour. 1 goal, 3 behinds & 2 OOTF (hello Kmac) from six shots :banghead.
-
Hopper. Coach killer. Just get rid of it FFS
Gifts possession and the goal.
-
How pathetic is Kmac? 3 shots for 0.1.
-
Darcy playing with no one on him. Only at Richmond
-
First the stuff up in the midfield when we had the chance to get the centre clearance (Hopper caught HTB).
Then everyone ballwatching as Darcy takes an uncontested mark 15m out :facepalm.
-
Just put someone on Darcy and just stay on them. This is stuffing Auskick stuff
-
Hello brainfades so far this quarter :help
Balta again nowhere near Darcy.
Hugo :facepalm.
-
This is going to be 100 points. We are just so bad in every area of the game. Skills is the most obvious one to me. So poorly skilled
-
Kaleb Smith is not AFL standard
How do we not see that.
-
I wonder at what point they say, okay we have kicked long down the line and lost the contest every single time. Maybe we try and hold o to the ball a bit, make a few leads. Nope straight down the line again and again
-
Training drill stuff for the Dogs. We're just witches hats :help.
-
Taranto and hopper getting exposed again. Cant compete against good midfields and there’s no excuse for that, our midfield is experienced.
-
Campbell been crap. Not a single player can hit a simple kick, embarrassing
-
All Taranto wants is a stat.
Gives it away all the time
Hopeless
-
Love KMac but looks finished to me
Play a youngster
-
Love KMac but looks finished to me
Play a youngster
Having a mare. Every possie he's stuffed up :help.
-
We're barely getting it forward this quarter, but that even more means we need to take the chances. Lynch no score from the pocket then Prestia poster from a 25m out snap. That's now just 1 goal from 8 shots :help.
-
Balta can get dropped. He’s lost the plot. Glad we signed him for 7 years or whatever it was
-
Taranto's disposal has been woeful.
-
Balta can get dropped. He’s lost the plot. Glad we signed him for 7 years or whatever it was
He's been so dismal I'd sub him off tbh. F him
-
Yze better get fired up at these lazy pricks at half time.
-
Looking like a 100 point thashing unless something changes fast
-
We are due for a big loss so here it is. I just want to see action from it. Taranto and hopper are not the answer. We get belted in the midfield every stuffing week. What’s their excuse ? There slow, poorly skilled and poo. stuff them off end of this year please and blood the kids in the middle
-
That last play was so embarrassing
That's it for me, can't watch this anymore.
-
Campbell needs to stick to doing the straightforward high % play. Inside 50 on the run take the shot. No need to give the extra handball.
-
Miller one of the few who is trying. Delivery into forwardline is not even vfl level.
-
Half-time
Richmond 1.3 1.4-10
W.Bulldogs 3.3 10.6-66
Goal: Green
One word: Uncompetitive.
After the bye, we can't say we need a rest as was the excuse used for the Swans loss.
ps. This time last year it was 20 - 67 at half-time. So very similar. Ended up losing by 91 points and it could've been more if the Dogs had kicked straight.
-
We’ve kicked 5 goals in our last 6 quarters of football.
-
Pathetic
Embarrassing
Disgusted
To time to give them a decent bake
-
Dogs midfield is a good one to compare to ours. Their inside grunt in Libba and Kennedy are basically our Taranto and hopper… I know who I’d rather have. Then they have a lousy bont and Richard’s on top and we have absolutely no one.
-
We’ve kicked 5 goals in our last 6 quarters of football.
We were goal-less in the last quarter of the GWS game. So that's 5 goals in our last 7 quarters.
And just 2 goals in our last 5 quarters. We've actually kicked 2.12 in that time. We should call it point-kicking instead of goalkicking. If you're not getting reward on the scoreboard, it affects the whole team.
-
Faull, Sonsie and KMac should have kicked at least 2-3 from those 5 shots.
Have kicked ourselves out of the competition of the game early and you can see the heads dropping. Effort isn't there. Fatigue no excuse after a bye.
-
We were competitive in the first but missed the easy shots and they've punished us ever sense.
I'm all for playing the kids but they still have to give effort. There's a couple who are failing in that regard. One in particular needs a spell in the VFL
-
Only poo clubs make debutants the sub
-

Yep. The Dogs can more than match our inside ballwinners at stoppages and then burn us on the outside where we lack pace & quality. They are just easily slicing through us with their run.
-
::)
Another simple chance missed.
Beyond a joke now! :banghead
-
Most poorly skilled team in the comp easily.
Only one player out there today that could be considered an above average kick and that’s Tom brown who barely touches it. Still plenty of list overhaul to be done
-
Only way we were going to get a goal. The Dogs getting bored and being asleep defensively.
Lynch allowed to mark on the goal-line and goals. Finally!
18 - 72
-
Sonsie can’t even make the distance from 35m ffs. This game has really confirmed how many players we still need to move on
-
And another missed set shot ::).
2 goals, 7 behinds, 2 OOTF & 1 no score :facepalm.
-
Sonsie can’t even make the distance from 35m ffs. This game has really confirmed how many players we still need to move on
Yep. Last two games are a reminder we have only started the rebuild. It's going to be at least 5 years plus before we can challenge just for finals.
-
Lynch now with another set shot miss.
2 goals, 8 behinds, 2 OOTF & 1 no score :facepalm.
-
Alger subbed on.
-
And Floss now off after a second Norton's knee to the back of the head.
-
Balta does more harm than good. He’s really turned into a butcher. I don’t think there’s a player here over 22 that I would keep on the list
-
Balta can bang the ball 60m yet he goes the dinky kick off the side of the boot straight to a Bulldog. Turnover gifts the Dogs a goal :facepalm.
-
Giving me flashbacks to Michael Laffy & Andy Goodwin kicking out of defence with all these turnovers today :help.
-
Said this last week but
SMITH GREEN MANSELL are a waste of time.
Should have been dropped weeks ago.
-
Floss back on. Must have a hard head. The question is going to be if he gets delayed concussion post-match.
-
Mansell is such a plodder. Funny they talk him up as a future leader. Fits right in with Taranto and hopper
-
Make that now 2 goals, 8 behinds, 2 OOTF & 2 no scores :facepalm.
-
Dogs have scored 11.5-71 off our turnovers and there's still another quarter to go :help.
-
We actually kicked a set shot goal (Lynch) :o.
-
Mansell
Green
Smith
Ross
Taranto
Hopper
HRS
Kmac
What do they all have in common ? Poorly skilled and slow (apart from HRS who can only run fast downhill) all absolute battlers with no class whatsoever.
-
All I want now is to see Lalor, Smillie, Hotton & Trainor in the same team.
-
Tom Brown
6 touches
Our best user of the ball
That’s unacceptable and they should be involving him more
-
3/4 time
Richmond 1.3 1.4 3.8-26
W.Bulldogs 3.3 10.6 15.7-97
Goal: Lynch 2, Green
Junk time that quarter. Dogs still kicked 5 though not getting out of 2nd gear. That's how bad we've been.
-
Tom Brown
6 touches
Our best user of the ball
That’s unacceptable and they should be involving him more
Agree Damo. Problem is though if you're the opposition coach you know that as well. Contain Brown while happy to concede possession to our spud kicks & poor decision makers who will turn it over.
-
Campbell goal.
We actually kicked two set shot goals in a row without miss. Bring out the champagne ::).
32 - 103
-
Tom Brown
6 touches
Our best user of the ball
That’s unacceptable and they should be involving him more
He doesn’t exactly impose himself or demand the ball
-
Good run down tackle by Faull.
Unorthodox but Kmac finally puts one through.
38 - 103
-
Lynch free at the F50 throw-in. Kicks his 3rd.
44 - 103
-
We are the second worst clearance team in the Comp with all our apparent leaders in the midfield. What’s the excuse for their consistent poor performances and losses in the midfield ? Cant blame youth.
-
We've finally found how to kick straight late in junk time. That's 4 in a row without miss.
Goal to Ross.
50 - 109
-
Slow mo Ross :banghead
-
Balta can have a run in the 2s
-
Balta could have gone for the ball then and marked it. Instead he stayed back and allowed Norton to waltz straight from behind him.
-
Yep baltas head isn’t in it.
-
Goal to Hopper. That's 5 now without miss. What's going on? :snidegrin
56 - 123
-
HRS how's the jib.
If that was me I would have killed English.
-
Final Score
Richmond 1.3 1.4 3.8 8.8-56
W.Bulldogs 3.3 10.6 15.7 21.9-135
Goal: Lynch 3, Campbell, Green, McIntosh, Ross.
Nothing positive from today and we've got Adelaide & Geelong next :help.
-
Complete and absolute thrashing.
-
Miller deserves credit for his game. We looked incredibly slow in the midfield.
-
Ball watching crap. Over 100 more uncontested possessions says it all. Another space guarding extravaganza of extreme zoning. Add the abysmal skills & decision making and it was like watching a entire team of George's. :help
-
Bulldog midfield highly skilled. They made St Kilda look slow. They also have numerous goal kicking options. If play the way we played against Sydney looking at a real thrashing.
And if we play like we did against GWS for 3 qtrs it will be a ripping game,e :) ;D
Taking into account the ground it was never going to be pretty
-
And now for something completely different ...
I got to watch about 15 mins of the VFL today while Hotton was on the field.
In that 15 minutes he set up two goals for team mates with some nice sharp passes, then swooped on a crumb & popped through a casual one that looked super easy ...
I think its an easy choice to make ... (not sure if he's actually ready to play right now, but there's the easiest decision of all time coming up).
:birthday
-
Yep baltas head isn’t in it.
Trade.
-
Post match presser Yze comments about how we got first touch of the ball quite a bit around stoppage but just turned it over instantly and that cost us a lot. Was pretty clear as day, we couldn’t hit a simple handball all day.
Comments like these from the head coach are pointing directly at Taranto and hopper. The so called leaders. These guys are so average it’s laughable, don’t forget they would be gws vfl midfield if they were still there. I know they try their heart outs most of the time but they are just not good enough as highlighted by Yze. Move atleast one on this off season

I think the comments were pointed at quite a few more than just Taranto & Hopper. Reckon you could easily include Balta, Smith, Mansell, Nankervis, KMac, Sonsie, Hugo, Sims as well.
If we are being totally honest reckon he was talking about the entire team
-
Sounds more pointed at T&H to me. Maybe my view is tainted though because I’m so sick of their disposal. He also spoke about getting different guys through the midfield. Anyone could
See the current mix just isn’t working and you can’t blame that on the youth, because there is none.
-
Yep baltas head isn’t in it.
Trade.
Who would want him with that contract?
Dreaming
-
Goal kicking deplorable.
-
Yep baltas head isn’t in it.
Trade.
Honestly I'd consider it.
Try with Miller, Trainor and one of Blight/Gray.
-

Saints
Other joke teams.
-
Bulldogs do what bulldogs do- they feast on mediocre teams .
One really poor quarter- the other 3 you could see the effort. Just seriously out gunned .
Imagine how well you would sleep knowing you had Sam Darcy in your team . 😂😂

Darcy a gun, just felt that Balta gave up, we needed someone in front of Darcy but we were so far off that structure, we couldn’t even do that to Cox in 2018 semi, embarrassing to even suggest it.

I think the interrupted season is stuffing Balta up.
He plays one week, break the next, plays, bye, plays.
Plus Darcy just destroyed him. Personally I wanted to try Miller on Darcy since he's been good recently at locking some dudes down.

AFL Report Card: Round 15
Jack Jovanovski, Ben Waterworth and Will Faulkner
Foxsports
23 June 2025
RICHMOND
Nobody expected the Tigers to keep this one particularly close, but Adem Yze and his coaching staff would’ve been hoping — especially coming off the bye — that the side be competitive for more than a quarter, as they slumped to their fifth-straight loss. Richmond had some ascendancy in the first quarter but was quickly snuffed as the Dogs were devastating from stoppage, led by their skipper. After Yze’s match committee made just one change to the side that got pantsed by the Swans in Round 13, there’ll surely be more than a couple of changes made at selection this week.
In the votes
As has typically been the case in heavy Richmond losses this season, Nick Vlastuin has led the way as one of the lone intercepting forces. He finished with 28 disposals at 84 per cent efficiency and an equal-game-high nine intercepts. Ben Miller was serviceable in tough circumstances, finishing with seven intercepts as the side’s fourth-highest rated player on the day. Tim Taranto added 28 disposals and six score involvements, but otherwise, there wasn’t anything worth writing home about.
Room for improvement
The Tigers had more than 100 fewer disposals than the Bulldogs, who chipped the ball around with ease as they built up their chains from the back half with little opposing resistance. It’s one thing to zone off uncontested marks if there’s a solid defensive structure, but the Bulldogs were consistently able to move the ball at will. The Dogs took 54 more marks than the Tigers, had 10 more clearances and 21 more inside-50s, with the Tigers’ midfield continuing to struggle to gain ascendancy in games.
