RICHMOND vs Collingwood
Sunday, 27th July @ the M.C.G.
Start time: 2:10 pm

Not sure a month ago anyone would have predicted coming into this game that we'd be coming off back-to-back wins and the Pies off back-to-back losses.

Ponsford Stand returns to the Tiger Army
Richmond will reclaim its member bays in the Ponsford Stand for Sunday’s clash with Collingwood.
There’s something special about the Ponsford Stand on a Sunday afternoon, when the sun is peaking through the clouds and it’s packed with the Tiger Army.
Level 2 of the city end hums with noise and turns into a wall of yellow & black. For years, though, that energy was dulled by a deal that never quite felt right.
But not anymore.
Round 20 isn’t just another MCG blockbuster against Collingwood. It’s a homecoming.
For the first time, Tiger members will return to their rightful seats in the Ponsford Stand for a Richmond home game against the Magpies. It’s a long-awaited moment. One the Club fought for - and won.
An arrangement which allowed Collingwood members to occupy level 2 seats in the Ponsford Stand - even during Richmond home games, which displaced Tiger members from their allocated seats – is finally over.
Tiger Army, the Club has listened, pushed, and persisted. Now, the stands are shifting, quite literally, in Richmond’s favour.
Richmond General Manager of Customer and Technology, Dino Imbriano, played a large role in pushing for this decision.
“This is a significant win for our members,” Imbriano said.
“Our members have wanted this situation rectified for many years. They can now sit together and enjoy blockbuster home games against Collingwood in their normal reserved bays.
“The new arrangements will also give Richmond Club XIII members exclusive access to the Harrison Room. It is a great result for our members.”
Richmond faithful, this moment is yours, and now the Tiger Army needs to own it.
On Sunday afternoon, in the annual Alannah & Madeline Foundation match, the Club is calling on the best fanbase in the competition to fill every seat, be loud, and remind everyone why the MCG roars loudest when Richmond calls it home.
Here’s How You Can Be Part of It
Got a reserved bay ticket in the Ponsford Stand? Be there. Be loud. Be part of history.
Can’t make it as a reserved bay member? Contact our Membership Team for assistance with passing on your spot to another Tiger. Every spot matters.
General Admission member? Keep an eye out for exclusive upgrade offers into the Ponsford Stand.
As a bonus, every member in attendance goes into the Attend & Win draw - just by showing up, you’ll be in the running to join the Round 24 Guard of Honour!
Tiger Army, the Club fought and fought — and won.

Richmond v Collingwood Preview
Andrew Slevison
SEN
24 July 2025
Richmond has notched up back-to-back wins for the first time under Adem Yze.
Last Saturday night’s 49-point triumph over West Coast was the biggest win of Yze’s reign and first time the Tigers have scored over 100 with him in charge. First-year young guns Jonty Faull, Taj Hotton and Tom Sims showed a bit last week and that is all the Tigers fans will want to see against the Pies. They will lose excitement machine Seth Campbell to concussion for this however.
The Magpies are in a funk if you look at their recent win-loss column. Two defeats on the trot does not look great, but take into account they’ve lost by just six points to Gold Coast and one point to Fremantle. They really should have had that Dockers game shot to bits late, but uncharacteristically let Freo back in. Their form prior was exceptional and that’s what they’ll be channelling here. Beau McCreery’s hamstring strain is a shame but they should be able to cover his loss.
These two sides, while 16th and 1st on the ladder respectively, enter with very different and unexpected form lines. The Tigers have reeled off two wins on the trot, the Pies have lost two in a row for the first time in 2025. But you just get the feeling that McRae’s experienced Pies need this one a bit more than Yze’s young Tigers. Their spot on top of the ladder is at risk and they need to rediscover their mojo. This looks like a great chance to do so.
Prediction: Collingwood by 35 points.

Nine’s Tom Morris reports Scott Pendlebury will be a late withdrawal from the Magpies side due to management.
Oleg Markov, who was originally omitted from the team that lost to Fremantle last week, will replace Pendlebury in Craig McRae’s 23.

Good challenge today. Expect Collingwood defence to be way too organised for our inexperienced fwd line.
Have a feeling Hotton might have a pretty big impact though

Taranto out
-
As per GR12's post.
----------------------------
Tim Taranto is a late out (calf). He will be replaced by Jasper Alger, who will be today's sub.

-
Great! :P
Maurice to start and play more in the middle today?
-
Against crap sides like Essendon and the Eagles we got away with our schoolboy errors. Top sides punish us. A soft goal to give away. It shouldn't have got into the Pies forward line in the first place.
-
Rioli another great tackle :clapping
Green to Trezise = goal! :gotigers
6 - 7
-
For some reason Sonsie seems to be the down the line go to player and it hasn't worked once and he's getting soundly beaten every time one on one. :help
-
More schoolboy mistakes. Green had to hold onto that.
-
We're getting good looks and we're stuffing it up :banghead.
-
Daicos on his own allowed to kick without any pressure :banghead
-
Sonsie has no idea. :help :rollin :banghead
Why didn't he play and and kick it from 45 on the run?
I don't think he's got any idea what he's doing. Not a natural talent but just a vfl level hack that is wasting a spot on our list.
Just watch and see.
He hardly ever wins a one on one contest.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 2.1-13
Coll'wood 3.3-21
Goals: Sims, Trezise.
Having a crack but paying them too much respect sitting off them. Can anyone man up Nick Daicos at stoppages? Happy for us to play for territory as we're getting looks in these conditions. Just need to cut down on the costly silly schoolboy errors.
-
Trainor lent back on the kick. Should have kicked that.
14 - 21
-
Hotton :gotigers
20 - 21
-
Playing pretty well.
Rain is definitely helping bring the magpies skill level closer to ours.
-
Young been rubbish
-
Smalls/mids not front and square at the aerial contest on the wing. Basics again Tiges!
-
Green :gotigers
26 - 28
-
What a ridiculous poo umpiring decision that was
We will take it , but ffs
-
A schoolboy turnover costs us another goal :facepalm.
-
A schoolboy turnover costs us another goal :facepalm.
Ross is a toiling C grader
Had to give the first option by hand
Then costs us a goal with a pathetic kick option
-
What a ridiculous poo umpiring decision that was
We will take it , but ffs
Agree no free. Ump saw the Pies defender take his eyes off the ball but still that shouldn't be a free.
-
Nice contested one-handed mark in the wet :o. Jonty misses though.
27 - 35
-
Another freaking U12s error! Fresh airy in defence and we gift them a goal :facepalm.
-
We’ve fired our best shot
This can get very nasty very quickly if they aren’t careful
-
Another freaking U12s error! Fresh airy in defence and we gift them a goal :facepalm.
Nick Daicos again killing us and he was the one who put the pressure of Vlaustin
We don't have anyone to stop him. :help
-
Get bloody front and square! :banghead. Sick of seeing Pies just waltz out forward side :banghead.
-
Miller's not good. Legs did the splits :P.
-
Short showed genuine rare courage in that passage of play
-
Brown lost Hoskin-Elliot at the stoppage. Just got to be tighter.
-
I personally think Nank is an idiot sometimes. He was the one who tapped it straight to the Collingwood player. :banghead
-
Just going too fast and panicking. There are open options. Use them than just blind panicky handballs and kicks.
-
Short can normally kick beyond 50 yet can't make the distance then?!
-
Half-time
Richmond 2.1 4.4-28
Coll'wood 3.3 7.6-48
Goals: Sims, Trezise, Hotton, Green.
No surprise but the difference in the game is our silly mistakes. We've had a dipped so far, but the Pies are punishing every schoolboy error we make. Their best players are handing the ball a lot better than us in the wet conditions too. Nick Daicos is pretty much doing what he pleases.
-
Miller's not good. Legs did the splits :P.
Didn't see it.
Groin you thinking?
Or more direct penile injury?

Miller's not good. Legs did the splits :P.
Didn't see it.
Groin you thinking?
Or more direct penile injury?
It wasn't the complete splits. Miller's right leg slipped under him and his legs went in different directions. He was holding his right hip so I'm not sure what he's done. It could be groin or a hip flexor (?) but I'd just be guessing Andyy.
-
Don't know if Green meant that and was trying to centre it and missed kicked it? But that's an unreal goal :o :gotigers
34 - 48
-
Balta goal :gotigers
40 - 48
LOL. That was a dodgy non-free.
-
Go for the loose ball that was 1m away Kmac.
-
Well Miller is back. So he is okay.
Fumbles so costly :banghead.
-
Geez Noah :scream
-
Another goal to the Pies off our schoolboy error :banghead.
-
How many times can we kick on top of a teammates head inside 50 when they were wide open? :scream.
-
How did you miss than Mansell?! :facepalm
-
Well done Taj :clapping
47 - 82
-
3/4 time
Richmond 2.1 4.4 7.5-47
Coll'wood 3.3 7.6 12.10-82
Goals: Green 2, Hotton 2, Sims, Trezise, Balta.
Started that 3rd quarter well to get back within 8 pts. Had our looks but once again lack of polish and silly U12s mistakes were costly and momentum turners. Fell away in the last 10 mins. Just outclassed.
-
They’re having a crack and there’s been good signs . Obviously outgunned by a team in premiership contention.
It’s been a fun watch though.
-
Proud of the boys no matter what this last Qtr
Soo much to look forward too
-
How come nobody's ever on Daicos?
-
Not sure why today we are also kicking on top of Rioli's head? Fortunately he marks it and gives it off to Faull :clapping.
54 - 89
-
Very lucky there Luke. Stick to first option.
-
That's third gettable one missed Rhyan.
55 - 91
-
Alger subbed on for Trainor.
-
That was chopping of the arm on Sims.
-
That was our best transition of the day. Faull in the pocket couldn't finish it off though.
56 - 91
-
Dumb Trezise. It was 2-on-1.
-
Final Score
Richmond 2.1 4.4 7.5 8.9-57
Coll'wood 3.3 7.6 12.10 13.15-93
Goals: Green 2, Hotton 2, Sims, Trezise, Balta, Faull.
Can't knock the effort. The only time we fell away was the 10 mins before 3/4 time. Overall, just outclassed over 4 quarters. We lack polish but we know where we are at. A good lesson for the cubs.
-
Don’t think anyone can be upset with that. Hotton is going to be an absolute gun.
-
You can’t be too disappointed with that . All the kids look terrific and showed signs.
-
Agree with the above sentiment. Rain definitely helped but we competed well all game with the ladder leaders. Positive signs with the cubs and the gameplan in general.
-
No Taranto. Really good effort. Worth noting other bottom sides got absolutely trashed. Not disappointed.
-
Good effort all day. Great pressure I thought.
Yze could have done something about daicos. Poor coaching.
anyone catch the Brody M shove into a player? If so please post as I couldn't see it clearly from the ground

But Vlastuin’s ability to emerge unscathed will likely see Mihocek dodge suspension despite Richmond forward Rhyan Mansell’s three-week ban earlier this year.
No worries Ralph. Did you write the same article on Tom Lynch a few weeks back?

They may have lost, but the Tiges showed plenty
Jaiden Sciberras
SEN
28 July 2025
Richmond fans should be very proud of their young cubs, putting up an almighty fight against the Magpies.
Despite going down by 36 points, the Tigers turned the contest against the competition’s best into a scrap, playing with the most heart you’ll ever see from a 16th placed outfit.
Maintaining an elite level of pressure throughout, the Tigers showed signs of a quality side despite a number of key absences.
It’s clear to see that the heroics of Maurice Rioli Jnr. in weeks past has rubbed off on the rest of the squad, with players mounting major chases, putting in third and fourth efforts and continuing to hunt even as the result appeared out of reach.
Adem Yze has done a brilliant job with the young guns at his disposal, and while the game slowly transitioned back into the grasp of the Magpies, the signs of a top culture and intent were there in spades.
The wins will come with time, and if this contest was anything to go by, the future is well and truly in good hands under Adem Yze.

AFL Report Card: Round 20
Ben Cotton and Catherine Healey
Foxsports
28 July 2028
RICHMOND
Another promising performance from the Tigers, even though their two-game winning streak came to a halt at the hands of Collingwood. But there was plenty for Richmond fans to cheer about including a couple of exciting run-down tackles from Maurice Rioli, plus some big highlights from Steely Green including an epic goal. You couldn’t question the Tigers’ effort, hanging with the ladder leaders for the majority of the MCG clash and holding up well defensively.
In the votes
Nick Vlasutin was enormous in defence, tallying a game-high 17 intercept possessions with seven marks and 25 touches to consistently thwart Collingwood’s pathway to goal. Vlaustin deserves to be firmly in the All-Australian mix. Meanwhile Tyler Sonsie registered career-high 28 touches and 1o marks in one of his best games .
Room for improvement
It was really just the third quarter that let the Tigers down in the only period of the match they fell away. Take that out and there was only a 20-point difference between the sides, which you’d take every day as a rebuilding side against the flag favourite. Adem Yze backed in his system instead of tagging Nick Daicos, but the Tigers coach might be questioning that after the Pies superstar ran riot with 42 disposals and three goals. It came after Daicos registered 42 touches against Richmond last time these sides met in Round 20 last year.

Selling hope: Richmond’s system stands up against the best
Lachlan Geleit
SEN
29 July 2025
Richmond’s structures stood up all day against ladder-leaders Collingwood.
While the Tigers eventually went down by 36 points, they stuck to the Magpies until midway through the third term and did as well as they could to match their opposition around the ground.
With both defences setting up the ground well, the difference in the game was really Collingwood’s class and Nick Daicos.
Put him on Richmond, and there’s no doubt the Tigers could have won given how well the rest of their game held up.
Nick Vlastuin deserves a shoutout for an amazing performance down back as he genuinely pushes for an All-Australian blazer, Luke Trainor and Nathan Broad also impressed in defence.
