Must still be conditioning. Don't wanna rush him back :)

The “conditioning” line is rubbish now. He’s been conditioning for so long he’s done another pre season. Just tell us what the issue really is.
Armstrong had a far worse injury and is back sooner.. make it make sense
-
Such a wasted year for Smilie.
If it continues next year it will be a wasted high draft pick too.
-
Conditioning. They think we're all fools
-
Lalor, Smillie, McAuliffe Lefau etc. very disappointing

Makes zero sense

In: Jacob Koschitzke, Sam GrIj
Out: Harry Armstrong (AFL), Jed Feneley.
2025 AFL draft prospect Sam GrIj, will don the yellow and black jumper in his Richmond VFL debut this weekend.
GrIj is an agile midfielder who can also line up at halfback, moving the ball up the ground with his slick handballing and penetrating kick.
The Oakleigh Chargers' prospect can slice open the opposition's defence with his elite pace and clean ball use.

It might be a wasted year or it might be the making of him. We don’t actually know exactly what role football conditioning will play later on in his careeer.
If it wasn’t for some other questionable decisions like playing Lalor 5 days after another game and the generally poor and vague communication then I doubt we would be questioning this approach for Smillie
-
I always think of Grimes and hope they can grow out of it to become a 200+ game all Australian and premiership player!
-
Grij a lock not to be drafted by us now. Last season we had Jagga, FOS and Langford play for our VFL side and we passed on all of them lol

Lalor was injured to be fair. Think we would have taken any of them with our second pick.
Not much to watch in this game unfortunately. Grlj ad Gibcus will be the ones I keep an eye on.
I think Blight has played his last game for us, either delisted or part of a trade at the end of season

No there isn't. It's just a single camera.

We finally get a deep entry inside F50. Street to Blight who has pushed forward and marks in the goalsquare. Goal! :gotigers

Really liking Grlj.
Was keen on him early this draft but he hasn’t performed all that well in the champs. Definitely looks a player
-
Kosi marks in the middle of about 3 Suns 25m out on an acute angle. Poor kick. Hits the behind post. No score.
-
Transition from HB and Kosi marks 35 out. Misses to the right this time.
13 - 10
-
The difference in tackling technique is obvious. We don't pin the arm, and they do.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 2.1-13
Gold Coast 1.5-11
Goals: Blight, Raso
Very fortunate to be in front. The Suns had the better of general play and twice as many inside 50s.
-
Stats to QT:
Blight 8 disposals
Kosi 4
Gibcus 2
Grlj equal top possies with Blight with 8 disposals playing at HB.
Disposals 83 - 110
Marks 21 - 24
Tackles 18 - 15
Clearances 5 - 7
Inside 50s 8 - 16
Hitouts 3 - 12
Frees 4 - 7

-
Johnson wins the HTB free in the centre and then gets 50. Misses to the right from 40 out.
14 - 11
-
Ahhh Kosi.
Two shots for 0.1.
Never questioned his endeavour but...
-
:facepalm basic errors. No one front and square defensive side at the HB aerial contest and then Guiney too slow in defence and caught.
14 - 17
-
Hanson down initially and helped off the trainers. Blight will have to ruck all day if Hanson is concussed.
-
Rosas, who apparently we're interested in, gets another for the Suns.
14 - 23
-
Kosi thrown into the ruck.
-
Today's game.
We lack talls forward of the ball. That's due to our long injury list.
We don't get front and square so the Suns clear out the front their goal side :banghead.
We don't pin the arm in the tackle so the Suns still get the handball away :banghead.
Another goal to the Suns.
14 - 30
-
George OOTF when we were out. Then caught ballwatching in D50.
Rosas kicks his 2nd if he is trying to impress us.
14 - 38
We are witches hats this quarter :help.
-
Not sure what the free was for but Kosi gets one on the boundary in the pocket. Misses again.
15 - 38
-
We gain possession from the Suns' kick in and Wilson finds Girolami. His shot misses everything and barely makes the distance :P. No score.
-
How can it be a tunnelling free if youre standing still and guarding space?
-
Suns run it down the other end and Rosas gets his 3rd.
15 - 44
-
How can it be a tunnelling free if youre standing still and guarding space?
These umps are hopeless.
Frees 7 - 16

Another goal to them.

-
Half-time
Richmond 2.1 2.3-15
Gold Coast 1.5 7.9-51
Goals: Blight, Raso
We look like a team with barely any AFL-listed players today. We barely have enough talls as is, so ruckman Hanson going off was the last thing we could afford structurally. Virtually game over unless we somehow pull off another miraculous second half comeback.
-
Stats to HT:
Blight 13 disposals and our leading disposal getter.

Gold Coast 1.5 7.9 7.14-56
Goals: Blight, Raso, Yassine, Pollocks, Girolami.
First 15-20 mins we had the better of the play which is why we made up ground. Last 5 mins though we went into brainfade mode (dropped marks, dumb frees) and we're lucky they missed every shot.
-
Stats to 3QT:
Blight 13 disposals (didn't have a possie that 3rd qtr)
Kosi 11
Gibcus 10 ..... on full minutes today.
Scott our leading ballgetter with 18 with Wilson on 16.
Grlj has 15 disposals (4 in that 3rd qtr)

Ferguson lacks awareness and bounces the ball with an opponent right behind him. George could have told him he was hot too.
Another brainfade.
Suns get a goal out of it.
42 - 70
-
Another to them. Game over!
42 - 76
-
We work it around the outer boundary and Wilson marks 45 out. Goes inboard to Yassine. Doesn't make the distance and an easy uncontested mark to the Suns :P.
We get it back and Girolami marks 35 out. Goal!
Rich 7.6-48
GC 10.16-76

Fumbles, poor handballs, dropped marks & mistackles. The story of our day.

Lost by 17 pts.
-
Final Score
Richmond 2.1 2.3 5.5 9.7-61
Gold Coast 1.5 7.9 7.14 10.18-78
Goals: Yassine 3, Girolami 2, Blight, Raso, Pollocks, Garner.
The final margin flatters us. Missed OHB in the ruck badly. We got away with it last week against Werribee, but today we were smashed at the stoppages/clearances. Add Auskick skill level and our pitiful tackling technique and it was a really poor day.
This long AFL injury list has cost us a top 4 and at least a top 6 place at VFL level. At best we'll now end up with a 'Wildcard' spot.
Only positive today is Gibcus getting through playing a full game with full minutes.
ps. Grlj showed enough across HB with 18 disposals to impress AFL recruiters. Only issue is we need mids at AFL level.

Grlj is a mid, long term atleast.
Would’ve liked to see him get some minutes there
-
Should also mention that Blight seemed to only play a half or so. All his 13 possies came in the first half. Likely pulled out to be the emergency spare for the AFL game.

Fair enough. They only threw Grlj in the middle in the last 5 mins when the game was over.
-
Does anyone have any information as to why we only have 3 AFL listed players in the VFL side these past 2 weeks?
I know we have a boat load of injuries but I didn’t think it was that bad.
Like where is kaleb smith? He isn’t in the seniors and isn’t named on the club injury list….

Young Tigers overcome by Suns
By Anna Pavlou
RFC website

Richmond was unable to make up an early deficit against Gold Coast on Saturday, going down by 17 points at People First Stadium.
It was a slow start that cost the young Tigers, who fought gallantly in the second half, but were unable to make up the difference away from home.
Jacob Blight and Massimo Raso scored early in the first term through promising passages of play, as Richmond held off the 15th-placed Suns.
But the tide turned in the favour of Gold Coast in the second quarter, as they held Richmond goalless, while piling on six majors of their own.
Sam Grlj stood tall in a difficult first half, recording eight disposals in the opening term, while Mutaz El Nour had seven touches and three intercept possessions at the main break.
Gold Coast took a 36-point lead into half time, before a revitalised Richmond began an important fight back, kicking three unanswered goals in the third.
With the margin now just 21 points in the Suns' favour, Richmond managed to outscore the home side in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to see them to victory.
Harry Scott was strong with 22 disposals, followed by Lachy Wilson's 20 touches and skipper Lachlan Street's 18.
Mohammed Yassine top scored for the Tigers with three goals to his name, while Nick Girolami had two majors of his own.
Richmond still sit in finals contention with two home-and-away games left. They'll host Sandringham next Saturday night at Kinetic Stadium, Frankston.

Despite our VFL team's loss, we've secured at least a Wildcard round spot and still have a chance to finish in the top 6.
We currently sitting 8th but we have a game in hand compared to the Pies and Giants above us on the VFL ladder.
