Would have hoped we’d get more of our senior list in. Guess they don’t qualify to play vfl finals.
-
Im glad we aren’t playing the draftees etc.
Most of them need a rest anyway and I’d be spewing if they got injured in the vfl
-
Sunny and dry conditions in Brisbane.

Thought it was just my connection.
Already ridiculous that it isn’t being televised, now we’ve got this crappy audio too.

Yep, it's terrible.

Coast to coast straight down the guts. Kick-in to Wilson just inside the centre square who goes long to where Alger collects and dribbles the goal :gotigers

Half asleep defensively there behind the ball. Thankfully they butcher the set shot.

Did the vision just jump then? Went from us having a kick-in to Brisbane having the ball on the wing :huh

Jumping vision and crap audio. Get into the 21st century AFL ::).
Goal to Brisbane.

Still don't know how to rush a behind up in Queensland :facepalm :banghead.

We have the breeze apparently.

2nd quarter will be telling. Breeze we had in the first looks way too strong to only get a 9 point lead from.

Yep TK. Going to have to defend well and control possession in the 2nd qtr.

How did we have so few numbers in D50 for that goal? The ball has been living down there, not like they hit us on the counter.

They had the breeze and used it that quarter but geez we're getting a lesson in finals footy in general play. It's like watching us in the 2013-2015 AFL Elimination Finals. If contested footy, proper tackling technique and defensive pressure isn't at the centre of what you do then you don't win finals.
Fawcett can hold his head up out of the AFL-listed boys. Blight has been ok in defence.

We're cooked

Just like the second qtr. How can Brisbane outnumber us at both ends? Workrate has fallen away.
66 - 84
Game over!
-
You're kicking into the breeze and you run away from the kicker :facepalm.
-
We had to use "dirty ball" this quarter keeping the ball on the ground. Kicking high into the breeze doesn't work. Just kept giving the ball back to Brisbane.
-
Smith inside 50 and Alger marks 35 out on the siren. Misses.
Lost by 20 points.
VFL season over.
-
Just didn’t do enough when we had the breeze. Especially first quarter.
-
Well that's all for our men for season 2025
Disappointing end
That final H &A loss was costly in a number of ways. Bottom line it cost us a week off and home final

Final Score
Richmond 4.1 6.1 10.5 10.7-67
Brisbane 2.4 9.7 9.9 12.15-87

Wasted the breeze in the first quarter and the last 10 mins of the 3rd and it cost us. Having said that we were outplayed in 3 of the 4 quarters in general play. It took until the second half for us to start playing finals standard footy in terms of contested footy and we were forced to play catch-up which rarely works.
Positive today was Fawcett. Quieter in the last quarter as we hardly got it forward, but he was excellent today in the first three quarters. Has taken a major step forward in both the VFL Wildcard and Elim Finals. Especially his contested marking.
-

That final H &A loss was costly in a number of ways. Bottom line it cost us a week off and home final
Agree WP.
Also, our long injury list at AFL level, especially in the second half of the season, robbed our VFL team of AFL-listed players. We've been forced to play less than half a dozen AFL-listed for most of the past two months. Out of interest, Brisbane had 14 AFL-listed players today compared to our 8.
-
Not having more than 3 or 4 AFL players cost us dearly. Big pre season coming up for that dept.

I don’t think they took this program seriously.
I know we had a lot of injuries throughout the season that limited the amount of senior players that could play, but there were times where a player wasn’t named on the injury list and didn’t play at AFL or VFL level with no explanation.
Can’t help but think if they wanted some of the fringe or young players to play today they could have worked out a way to do so.

Hungry Lions end Tigers’ season
By Connor Burns
Richmond Media
Aug 30, 2025
Richmond's VFL season came to a close on Saturday, falling to Brisbane by 20 points at Brighton Homes Arena in the second Elimination Final.
Despite a positive start to the game and an inspired third quarter comeback, the Lions showed their finals experience to outlast the Tigers, 12.15 (87) to 10.7 (67).
In a hotly contested first quarter it was Richmond who drew first blood, with a rapid end-to-end goal finished off by Jasper Alger.
But the home side responded well with quick goals to Curtis McCarthy and Conor McKenna giving the Lions the lead.
The Tigers finished the term brilliantly though, going into quarter time up by nine points with late majors to Mykelti Lefau, Liam Fawcett and Lachlan Wilson.
Brisbane came out of the first break much sharper though, snatching the lead back early in the term.
They dominated centre clearances and used the breeze to good effect, kicking seven goals for the quarter, registering over 20 inside-50s for the term.
Midfielder Deven Robertson was dominant in the middle of the ground, with McKenna also kicking three goals to half time.
Ruckman Oscar McInerney (15 disposals and 11 hit-outs) was also having a strong say on the game, helping the Lions to a 24-point lead at half time.
The Tigers looked all at sea throughout the second term and desperately needed to hit the reset at the break, with Mohammed Yassine getting the side off to a fast start with a goal 30 seconds into the third quarter. Alger followed suit minutes later to bring the margin back to two goals.
Richmond’s pressure continued to lift and it started to play the ball in its front half, flipping the script on how the game had been played previously. The Tigers continued to dominate the play, roaring back into the lead to hold a two-point advantage at three-quarter time.
Although Richmond led with a quarter to play, it would have loved a greater advantage on the scoreboard, with Brisbane having its turn with the wind in the last term.
The Lions took the lead back early in the quarter with McKenna kicking his fourth goal of the day.
McInerney gave Brisbane breathing room before Fergus McFadyen kicked his second goal of the day approaching time on. The Tigers were brave but ultimately the Lions did enough to hold on and win by 20 points, with Robertson (30 disposals, one goal) and McInerney (24 disposals, 11 clearances) strong performers in the victory.
Kaleb Smith was the Tigers' leading ball winner with 21 disposals, while Harry Scott and Austin Johnson both collected 20 touches. Samson Ryan battled hard in the ruck while Jacob Koschitzke kicked three goals.
Brisbane 2.4 9.7 9.9 12.15 (87)
Richmond 4.1 6.1 10.5 10.7 (67)

191cm midfielder Harry Scott (son of ex-Tiger Allister) named in the best for Richmond VFL yesterday - for the 10th time this season. Averaged 21.1 disposals from 19 games. Has to be among the best chances for the Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal.
