AFLW Injury Report: Round 4, 2025
AFLW High Performance Manager Eliza Morrison has provided this week’s injury update as the Tigers head down to Casey Fields to take on the Demons on Saturday.
Grace Egan: Lip, Available
"Grace suffered a lip laceration from the Bulldogs game. She had surgery last week and will be available for selection this week," Morrison said.
Bec Miller: General Soreness, Test
"Bec had some hamstring tightness after the Western Bulldogs game. With the tight five-day turnaround last week, we didn't take any risks," Morrison said.
"We are hoping she will tick off what she needs to do this week, to be available for selection."
Katie Brennan: Knee, Test
"Katie pulled up with some knee soreness from the game. We will give her as much time as possible to settle before we test her for this week's game," Morrison said.
Sarah Hosking: Hamstring, Test
"Hosko returned to matchplay via scrimmage on the weekend and will be available for selection at AFLW level, given she completes main training this week," Morrison said.
Montana McKinnon: ACL, Test
"Similar to Sarah, Montana has built up her game exposure at the scrimmage level, and given she completes main training, will be available for selection at AFLW level," Morrison said.
Aoibhin Cleary: Available
"Aoibhin relocated from Ireland three weeks ago. As she has never played Australian Rules Football, we have built her up via scrimmage minutes and are now happy for her to be available for selection at AFLW level," Morrison said.
Tessa Lavey: Hamstring, 4-6 weeks
"Tessa is moving through her progressions as planned," Morrison said.

PANIC STATIONS FOR FINALS CONTENDERS?
In a 12-round season, it’s a bad spot to be if you’re 0-3.
But that’s where both perennial finals contenders Richmond and Geelong are three weeks into 2025.
Of the 11 Fox Footy AFLW commentators surveyed pre-season, five had the Tigers playing finals, while eight had Geelong returning to the top eight after narrowly missing out last season.
Of Geelong and Richmond, Fox Footy expert Chyloe Kurdas is more puzzled by the latter’s slow start to 2025.
“Aren’t they fascinating?” Kurdas said. “On paper, they’re incredibly talented … yet you could argue they’ve been pretty well beaten in those three losses and you’ve never really felt ‘they’re right in this until the final siren’.
“I don’t know what’s going at Richmond, but I think they’re definitely underperforming for the talent they’ve got on paper.”
Asked what needed to change at the Tigers, Kurdas said: “I think they’re a bit predictable, to be honest.
“If you look at Sydney for instance and how they go inside 50, Chloe Molloy is there but they’ve got the courage to use the others. Whereas you know Richmond are going to go to Katie Brennan and Caitlin Greiser. Emelia Yassir is there as a crumber to mop up if the mark is not taken, but they’re not using others as nominated goalkickers primarily.
“If I look at Ellie McKenzie and Mon Conti, who both get so much of the ball … I feel like they need to be seen to be dangerous around the goals – and they’re just not. Therefore, I don’t think that stretches the opposition well enough and it makes the progression to goal much more predictable.”

LMAO
Perennial finals contenders
Not sure making the finals twice, once falling into 7th , constitutes perennial
But good luck to all involved

Well that is a bit of a statement with two gimmees being omitted in Dempsey and Yassir.
Both of which have been in ordinary form this year.
-
Gabby Seymour will captain our side tomorrow in the absence of Katie Brennan 💛

Tigers on "right track" for win
By Anna Pavlou
Richmond Media
Sep 5, 2025
AFLW backline coach Chris Muratore has declared that Richmond is on the edge of snatching a much-needed win to kick-start their season.
Starting without a win from the first three outings of the season, the Tigers look ahead to Saturday's clash against Narrm at Casey Fields, with Muratore confident a win is on the horizon.
"It's not the start we would have wanted from a win-loss (perspective), but I feel like we are on the right track," he told Richmond Media.
"Our game is growing. It's been disappointing at the end of the game when we're not singing the song, but we're taking steps forward and we know we're not far away."
From a backline perspective, Muratore knows the pressure has mounted on his defensive group.
But that's not all back. Instead, he's utilising the pressure to create belief, noting the growth over the opening three rounds.
"It's been tough, as it comes back to a win-loss (perspective). We've been under the pump a lot. We're growing together and learning a lot about each other. The best way to learn is when we are under the pump.
"We've got some challenges, but we're coming out the other end, which is not far away from having a win."
Although the win hasn't shown on the scoreboard just yet, Muratore knows there's been a major victory in the continued growth of key tall Bec Miller early this season.
Miller has been swung forward on multiple occasions, kicking two goals in a career-first change.
"Me and Granty (assistant coach Emma Grant) always fight about where Bec is going to play every week, but it's good to have that option," he said.
"A strong utility, where she can go down back, drive great energy, defend first, then throw her forward, and we've seen her kick a couple of goals. It's a great tool to have in the shed."
As for what lies ahead, the chance to face a dominant Demons side is one Muratore wants to attack with both hands.
"It's a great opportunity to play a side that's 3-0, to get our season started. It takes one to turn to two, to three wins really quickly," he said.
"We know it can turn, so taking a scalp is maybe what we need."

:facepalm
-
Geez, talk about being deluded :facepalm. That's just embarrassing stuff.
We'll be lucky to get within 6 goals of Melbourne tomorrow :help.
-
Last week the Pies proved that shutting down space and pressuring that outside ball can really disrupt the way the Demons move the ball. This must be the first priority for Richmond this week – limiting that control and neat ball use – before then creating their own attacking opportunities.
Tip: The Demons will continue to notch up the wins. Narrm by 15 points.

Melbourne player runs right into the protected era but no 50 ::).
As usual we have no team structure :facepalm.

If you want to know why Ferguson is such a dud coach, we are kicking into the breeze and not one Tiger is front and square defensive/breeze side to the contest :facepalm.
-
We gonna get smashed. Doesn't look great.
-
We're actually done well in the last 5 mins and got the ball forward but we just continually fumble, fumble and fumble.

The effort is there. Backline has stood up well so far. We've got the breeze in the 2nd qtr. Over to you coach to set up a team structure that makes the most of it.

Shevlin intercepts 50 out. Rushed for a point.

We've got the breeze and we're going short, sideways and wide :facepalm.

Get this moron coach out of our club ::).
-
Selfish there by Cox. Miller had the free and set shot with the breeze and Cox played on and missed.
2 - 18

Greiser should've been dropped. Playing one down as she is offering nothing.
-
Our genius coach allows the Dees to have free numbers up forward, middle and down back :facepalm.

Seriously, sack this clueless idiot of a coach at half-time. Enough is enough >:(.

Greiser should've been dropped. Playing one down as she is offering nothing.
There's a number out there in the same boat
So far just another embarrassing performance
-
Seriously, sack this clueless idiot of a coach at half-time. Enough is enough >:(.
I think the constant lack of 2nd efforts tells me everything I need to know about where we are at.
That and some of the selfish efforts.
So glad I didn’t bother driving down there to watch

Conti finds Miller leads towards the boundary 35 out. Across the face no score. Siren.

No goals with a strong breeze :facepalm. Embarrasing again and it starts with the moron coach >:(. Let's go short, sideways and wide with a strong breeze and handball and handball backwards until we stuff up. Get this idiot out of the club now :banghead.

Richmond coaching staff Pre Half time speech.
Ryan Ferguson: Guys, I've tried nothin' and I'm out of ideas!
Fev: I can teach Greiser how to eat two meat pies with only four bites!

That's all on the coach. There's no system, no structure, and no basic standards. Who here called him 'just a PE teacher' (HRT?) was spot on. He's got no idea about footy, and clearly by that embarrassing article midweek out of the Club, his assistants around are just as deluded and clueless. Clear them all out now! >:(
-
We have a game plan if you can call it that; that is based on excellent skills. When you don't have the skills to execute it then you're stuffed
His clear handball mantra means we have zero chance.
When we manage to get a turnover in the back half we have to handball because there is no forward ro kick it to because they are all forward of centre
That's on the coach. We should always have one forward not leave the forward 50 arc. That should be Greiser. Give her a chance FFS. Having her up on the wing is stupid
But thinking about it it fits with our coach totally stupid

She's already got a premiership medallion from her time at the Bulldogs.
I wouldn't be surprised if others want out at the end of the season. Yassir will likely leave as she wanted out last year and only changed her mind when a deal couldn't be done.

Our crappiola hides the fact the general standard of AFLW from the other teams continues to improve year on year. Melbourne have been very clean and well organised. Just an indictment on our Club. The gap between us and the rest of the comp is a massive chasm which will take years to fix just to catch up.

Ford with a late goal.
Rich 2.7-19
Melb 8.9-57
-
I wonder what spiel we'll get from the cosch today?
Pot the players and blame them?
Say we've improved?
Say I'm proud of their effort ?
We just have to keep persisting, we've got the game plan?
Can hardly wait

I'm as frustrated as anyone but your 2nd comment, totally uncalled for.
It's not a critique on Grieser, the girls game and development is different than the men and just like 80's and 90's footy I think it's better to have a plugger type up forward that can use her size to her advantage
It's more a criticism on Fev, who dispite being a decent player has done absolutely nothing in helping Grieser and utilise her size for maximum advantage.
Instead, like most players that come to us, she also has gone backwards and we rarely see her use her assets to advantage.
She was one out with a defender when Conti was bouncing the ball down the wing and instead of using her size to bump her opponent off the ball she fell over. :help
Anyway, I was criticising the clueless coaching not the players in this instance. I generally fell sorry for the players

No worries.
I actually feel sorry for our players and the lack of support been saying this for a while.
I actually enjoy watching the girls develop and just like the men's competition it has had over 100 years head start so we can't look at it the same way
It would be a lot better if our club actually gave a poo.

Red-hot Dees put comp on notice with ruthless win over Tigers

-------------------------------------------
RUTHLESS Narrm is back, and back in a big way.
Following a scare last week, the Demons put the foot down against Richmond to run out 8.9 (57) to 2.8 (20) at Casey Fields on Saturday afternoon, navigating the windy conditions with ease.
Now sitting 4-0, Narrm is well-placed to return to finals after missing last year for the first time since 2019.
Kate Hore (19 disposals, two goals, 12 tackles) was, once again, the instigator of it all. Her work out of stoppage asked some questions of Richmond, and she paired beautifully with her vice-captain in Tyla Hanks (32 disposals, 434m gained).
The Tigers simply had no answers for Hore's ability to break lines and hit the scoreboard, or Hanks' cleanliness at the ground ball.
Against the wind in the opening quarter, Richmond's defensive unit stood strong. Conceding just four scores – and only one goal – from 15 inside 50s, and steadily worked its way back out of the zone.
But the challenge became increasingly difficult as the game wore on.
Using the corridor to transition end-to-end allowed Narrm to lengthen the ground and isolate its array of forwards ahead of the play. Georgia Gall (10 disposals, one goal), Alyssa Bannan (11 disposals, one goal), and Georgia Campbell (11 disposals, one goal) all looked dangerous close to goal, while Eden Zanker (10 disposals, one goal) spent some time through the middle of the ground, and Tayla Harris (14 disposals, five inside 50s) supported in defence for long periods.
The ease with which the Demons hit neat kicks into the middle of the ground time, and time again, was concerning for Richmond's team defensive strategy. It was simply unable to adjust to such movement throughout the game, allowing the home side to control how the game was played.
A real shining light for the Tigers was the assertive performance of second-year player Isabel Bacon (10 disposals, one goal) in defence. One of the few Richmond players to best Hore in a one-on-one, her strength playing in front helped to disrupt the quick transition footy from the Demons, meanwhile she also snuck forward to kick her first ever AFLW goal late in the piece.
Paige Scott (14 disposals, five tackles) was thrown into the midfield for the second half, with their strength and power a handy shift around the ball, and Monique Conti (32 disposals, four clearances) and Ellie McKenzie (23 disposals, six tackles) were tireless.
As a result, the visitors had a flurry of shots into the wind late in the third term, but conversion eluded them.
In her first game for the Tigers following an ACL injury last year, former Crow Montana McKinnon bobbed up with some important moments late, showing off her aerial strength in a positive sign for the 0-4 side going forward.
Score review in action
Midway through the second term we got a glimpse of something not seen across the opening three rounds: the score review in action. Demons forward Megan Fitzsimon lined up for a shot on goal into the breeze (gale) and kicked low and hard in an attempt to make the distance. Tigers ruck Poppy Kelly flew for touch, but seemed to miss her chance at impacting while Narrm celebrated a major. With everyone reset for a centre stoppage, there was a pause from the umpires, and soon enough the score had been overturned and everyone brought back for a Tigers kick in. The ball tracking technology – which has caused some controversy – picked up that Kelly had in fact gotten a fingernail on the ball.
The great equaliser… or is it?
Generally, in games with a serious breeze – as Casey Fields usually delivers – sides can find some ascendancy, or at least territory control, in quarters where they have the aid of the breeze. Unfortunately for Richmond, this wasn't the case. After battling admirably against a barrage of forward entries in the first quarter, the expectation was that the Tigers might then generate some attack of their own in the second term. Instead, it was Narrm adjusting its ball movement to do plenty of attacking of its own. The Demons converted just one goal from its 15 first quarter entries, before piling on three in the second from its 12 entries against the breeze.
Up next
Narrm will travel across to South Australia to take on Yartapuulti at Alberton Oval on Saturday afternoon, while Richmond returns to its makeshift home of Ikon Park to host Geelong on Sunday.
