AFLW Injury Report: Round 10, 2025
AFLW High Performance Manager, Eliza Morrison, provides an injury update ahead of Richmond's Round 10 clash with Collingwood at Victoria Park this Sunday.
Jodie Hicks: Foot, 2-3 weeks
“Jodie has returned to running and is progressing as planned in her return to play timeline,” Morrison said.
Tessa Lavey: Calf, Season
“Tessa had an incident in scrimmage on the weekend where she felt her calf on push off,” Morrison said.
“She was unable to complete the game. Scans have confirmed Tessa has a strain to her calf, and given the timing of the season, she will not be able to rehab in time to return to games.”
Gabby Seymour: Knee, Season
“Gabby suffered an indirect contact injury to her knee during our game vs Adelaide,” Morrison said.
“Scans have confirmed that Gabby has a partial tear to her ACL. Unfortunately, Gabby will be out for the remainder of the season.
“We are shattered for Gabby, but we know how professional Gabby is in her approach, so we have no doubt she will be back stronger than ever.”

Grieves good tackle inside 50 wins the HTB free 35 out. Passes off to Brennan in the pocket. Misses.

That's the second handball to nobody in D50 by Cox :P. Lucky it didn't cost us.
Hosking running back with the flight into the oncoming pack takes a courageous mark :clapping.
-
Ellie McKenzie with the classy finish just on the siren judging the breeze perfectly :gotigers
Quarter time
Richmond 4.2-26

Goals: Brennan, Greiser, Bacon, McKenzie.
We'll see how strong and influential the breeze is in the second quarter when the Pies have it.

Pies defender had a fistful of Scott's jumper in the goalsquare but no free ::).
Poor kick and turnover by us from the OOTF free on the wing, lets the Pies go forward. Collingwood gets a free and all the Tigers stopped allowing the Pies to take the advantage and run into an open goal.

Ford's shot gets to the line but it's touched.

Grieves 55 out hits up Wicksteed 40 out. Shanks the kick and it's a throw-in by the point post. Pies clear.

Very lucky there. We all pushed up the ground with no one back defending and allowed the Pies to get out the back. Lucky the Pie missed an absolute sitter running into an open goal.

Poor kick by the Pies outside D50 is intercepted by Miller. Goes back inside 50 and Scott is taken high in the tackle 25 out in the pocket. Misses everything going narrow side. No score :P.
-
No awareness :facepalm. We get gifted the ball and then we gift it straight back.
-
Play stopped. Cox down. Pie shiftfronted her after disposal and bumped her high.
-
That sums us up as to why we don't score. Too busy handballing trying to get someone free and eventually just coughing it up to the opposition defence rather than creating and finding a free teammate by foot for a mark and set shot.
Gresier ping on the siren misses.

A game between two ordinary sides. The Pies had the breeze/scoring end that quarter but we had more than enough chances to kick goals ourselves. We were lucky that quarter the Pies are crap and didn't punish us for our mistakes and butchered chances inside F50.

Graham at HB gets 50. So we finally can go inside F50. Ex-Tiger Frederick takes the mark but her pass is poor letting us in. Wicksteed by the boundary centers it and Brennan gathers, ducks under the tackle, and gets her foot to the ball to kick the goal :gotigers. Totally against the run of play.

A game between two bottom 4 sides and it showed. Won it in the first quarter as we were bloody ordinary after that.
The problem is we are now moving up the ladder thanks to such a late season meaningless win. We're now up to third last on the ladder having jumped above the Pies, and we have bottom side Gold Coast to come in the last round.
-
I just hope this meaningless win doesn't mean the club thinks everything is ok with our women's program
It doesn't.
1 good qtr against a terrible side means zero

STATS:
The Tigers get their second win of the season with a 13-point win over the Magpies. A four-goal opening quarter set them in good standing for the match, as well as topping the inside 50 and clearance ledgers by 13 and 11. 40 of their 46 points were generated from forward-half chains.
The first possessions for the last quarter were even at six apiece, although the Tigers lead the clearances 8-3. Both Richmond and Collingwood rank inside the bottom three for first possession to clearance percentage this season.

---------------------------------------------------------------
RICHMOND has snatched its second win of the season and jumped Collingwood on the ladder in the process with a 13-point win in front of a crowd of 4057 at Victoria Park.
The Tigers have put their 0-7 start to the season behind them as they look for a strong finish to the year. Staving off a fight from the Pies, Richmond held on to win 7.4 (46) to Collingwood’s 5.3 (33).
Both teams had the assignment of correcting the inside 50 woes that have plagued them all season. Magpies young gun Violet Patterson kicked her side’s first off an intercept in their forward 50 within 45 seconds of the opening siren, but it was shortly matched by Tigers’ skipper Katie Brennan. The veteran tiger went on to finish with three for the match.
Despite Collingwood’s strong start Richmond pulled away fast, ending the first quarter with four goals off 10 inside 50s, whereas the Pies were held to just the one off six.
The second quarter was lower scoring, but the Tiger’s were rarely behind the ball as they gained territory and forced their opponents to spend time up the defensive end of the ground.
Whilst Collingwood's defence stopped Richmond from taking advantage of its time inside 50, the Tigers prevented the Pies from spending much time in theirs, with Collingwood's attempts to rebound cut off in the centre square.
Mon Conti did what Mon Conti does best, directing her team’s pressure with four tackles, seven clearances and 23 disposals to end her afternoon.
For Collingwood, Brit Bonnici did everything to keep her side in the game, with 26 disposals and 10 tackles leading the individual players stats for the match.
The Pies tried to regain some control with a game of kick to kick as Richmond’s pressure deepened, but silly turnovers let them down.
Tensions were heavy in the third term, as Collingwood began to dominate possession but struggled, once again, to convert inside 50.
Lily-Rose Williamson was vocal, letting her frustrations get the better of her and giving up a 50-metre penalty in the process, resulting in a talking to by both her captain Ruby Schleicher and coach Sam Wright at three-quarter time.
Young Tigers recruit Sierra Grieves is really pushing for a Rising Star nomination, slotting straight back into her side after she was managed last week. With four tackles, (a huge one executed in the second term) and 13 disposals, it’s just a matter of time before the Tiger cub gets her flowers.
An injury to Richmond’s Montana Beruldsen was the only thing to sour the afternoon as she went straight to the rooms, skipping the interchange bench at three-quarter time.
Scoring desperation from both sides was clear in the final term, as the day darkened with clouds stretching across Victoria Park, but ultimately the Tigers held on to take their second win of the season.
Mark of the year, surely?
Sarah Hosking was managed last week but came back into her side with a mark so impressive, surely we’re talking mark of the year contention. Mid-way through the first quarter the Tiger went back with the flight to take a huge grab, putting her body on the line as she came tumbling down hard with the ball still in hand, avoiding a wayward spoil in the process. The intercept saved her side from giving up a goal and showed off Hosking’s elite bravery that was missed against North Melbourne in Round 9.
MRO trouble for Bonnici
It looked like day done for Richmond’s Katelyn Cox, after a huge bump from Brit Bonnici at the end of the second quarter left the tiger hobbling off the ground with the wind taken out of her.
Whilst she spent the start of the third term on the bench, the Tiger army could breathe a sigh of relief as she passed an HIA to head back out. However, it will be a nervous wait for Pies fans, with Bonnici potentially in hot water with the Match Review Officer for the bump.
Up next
Both sides are heading away for Round 11. Collingwood will travel north to take on Gold Coast at Bond University on Sunday afternoon, whereas Richmond heads west to take on Fremantle at Fremantle Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Tigers “ragged” but with “so much upside”
Peter Williams
Coach Comments
October 22, 2025
RICHMOND “wasn’t perfect”, but coach Ryan Ferguson was proud of the way his side stood up against Collingwood’s pressure as the Tigers went on to defeat the Magpies by 13 points in Round 10 of the AFL Women’s. The Tigers were challenged throughout the second half as the Magpies drew within seven points in the opening minute of the fourth quarter before the Tigers steadied.
Coming away with the 7.4 (46) to 5.3 (33) win at Victoria Park, the Richmond coach said he was “quite pleased” with the way the game played out, and how his team held off a “super impressive” Collingwood third term.
“I thought first quarter we executed exactly what we wanted to and felt like the game was really on our terms and put some scoreboard pressure on,” Ferguson said. “Happy at quarter time. “Second quarter was a bit of an armwrestle and get one back, but still happy with how the game was playing out. “I thought Collingwood really came out firing in the third quarter.
“They upped their work rate, their contest, they put us under all sorts of pressure. “But it is pleasing in games you have to withstand that pressure, and it’s not going to be on your terms for the whole time, so I thought that was a good experience. “It lived in our defensive half, but to hold up strong and then get the game back on our terms in the fourth and I thought we controlled the fourth really well.”
Ferguson said the key message at the final huddle was about refocusing and reducing the Magpies’ dominance on the outside from the third term.
“It was just getting a bit more predictability into our game, taking out their uncontested side,” he said. “They started to run and gun a little bit, handball receives and uncontested marks, but then when we got our chance we were kicking it back to them, we weren’t able to find the release and absorb some pressure that way so it was just a couple of those tweaks at three quarter time. “I thought our players adjusted really well.”
The Tigers racked up 11 more inside 50s from a clearance domination of 29-17, and while the black and whites did end up with nine more uncontested possessions (147-138), Richmond smashed the Pies in the contested possession count (111-88).
Ferguson said he was “proud” of the brand of footy his team was playing, and while there was still much improvement to come, it was a marked step up compared to earlier in the season.
“It wasn’t perfect today and there’s so much upside,” he said. “Thought we got a bit ragged in the second and third with our ball use and like I said not quite as predictable as we’d like to be, or rushed, not able to execute so there’s plenty of upside.
“But just to see the brand of footy, how hard we worked, how tough we were, and when we were executing, the ability to lower the eyes, take it off the line, have different modes of attack, and put pressure on the opposition that way.
“I’m proud of the group for standing strong, it’s not the season that we planned to have, but to stick together, work on our game and build momentum, I’m really proud with how they’ve attacked that.”
